My new book is available!!!

“Caught in the plot of a fairy tale come to life, young couple Tanner and Bernadette are separated by The Beast, a self-made monster set on playing storyteller with their lives. Each accompanied by mysterious creatures who help and harm in turn, the two women must work from different points of the same story to find each other, bring an end to The Beast’s plot, and return home to a life together.

Told from four alternating points of view, the story recasts a classic tale of kidnapped maidens and brave knights, strange guides and terrible villains, in a modern and notably queer light, with a promised happy ending.”

My second book is available on Amazon in both ebook and paperback format!!! If you like stories about queer girls and trans girls and supernatural creatures and adventuring in spite of anxiety, you will probably enjoy this one!

Ebook sales continue to fall as younger generations drive appetite for print

Nielsen survey finds UK ebook sales declined by 4% in 2016, the second consecutive year digital has shrunk

Readers committed to physical books can give a sigh of relief, as new figures reveal that ebook sales are falling while sales of paper books are growing – and the shift is being driven by younger generations.

More than 360m books were sold in 2016 – a 2% jump in a year that saw UK consumers spend an extra 6%, or £100m, on books in print and ebook formats, according to findings by the industry research group Nielsen in its annual books and consumer survey. The data also revealed good news for bricks-and-mortar bookshops, with a 4% rise in purchases across the UK.

While sales through shops increased 7% in 2016, ebook sales declined by 4%. It is the second year in a row that ebook sales have fallen, and only the second time that annual ebook sales have done so since industry bodies began monitoring sales a decade ago.

Book Update

Looks like I’ll just be providing my book in pdf form, because “epub” (the commonly used ebook format) forces text to flow according to the size of the device, ruining any formatting that you so painstakingly put into place. So because I care about where my words appear on the page, that will be quite unacceptable. You can make a fixed format epub, but I don’t know html, and I have no desire to learn it. A pdf already gives me exactly what I want.

I’ll post a download link when I get set up with a host.

I was checking used bookstores of the volumes of History of Middle Earth that I need for some references.  No luck on those.  (Why are volumes 6+ weirdly hard to get a hold of for a decent price?)  But, I did find this!  My own copy of the Gay Romance Cover edition of Two Towers.

But seriously, why I can’t I just have HOME in a complete ebook format instead of $10 for one volume in one paperback edition and about that plus another then in shipping for the other volume I need?

Archive of Our Own is so wonderful like it just. It does the things we need! It stores fics and sorts them so we can find them and displays them in different ways, many of which look Official And Probably Academic to a casual glance over your shoulder which is nice, and it formats any fanfiction into ebooks that are BETTER formatted than 90% of the professional bought with money ebooks I get and it’s just… yes.  Good. This is a good thing fans have brought about.  yes.  thanks @ao3org

These are 6 pages from Gray. The first image are two pages from when the band arrives at the Oakwood, the next two are from the main character’s suicide attempts that some people are saying inspired the line “you saved my life that night on the roof of your hotel” in GINASFS. Since a lot of people haven’t read Gray I thought I’d share and let you make up your mind.

(The beauty of having purchased it in ebook format is that screencapping it is as easy as the press of a button. The downside is that I’ll never be able to get it signed, haha).

Thing to know about Gray, some of it is based on real events but some of it is definitely not real. The tricky part is figuring out what’s real and what’s not.

1) The narrator = Pete; Her = Jeanea; Martin = Patrick; John Miller = Dirty.

2) The band did stay at the Oakwood while they were recording FUCT, and Pete and Patrick did live together there (source). It’s worth noting though that the Oakwood is not a hotel, it’s an apartment complex.

3) I don’t know if Pete actually attempted suicide there and if he was actually kicked out. If he was indeed kicked out that may be something provable but as of now I don’t know if it happened (hit me up if you have a source).

4) This scene is not a “redressing” of Pete’s suicide attempt in the Best Buy parking lot. That one also happens in the book and is a separate event.
