Eating Clean and Maintaining Your Health While Traveling
Training On Holiday
So I have been posting a lot about how to eat clean while traveling but have not really gone into detail about how I train when I am abroad.
One of the most important pieces of advice that I can offer here is: do your due diligence when it comes to your hotel!! Nowadays, most hotels offer beautiful gym facilites but don’t expect this, go online or call the hotel and request to see photos of the gym facilities if there are no images available on the hotel’s site.
I have been in situations where I was told there was a ‘fitness suite’ and when I get there it is one rickety old treadmill and no weights. This has been my experience in India and Asia especially so if there is no gym at your hotel, be sure to either plan your training by bringing an equipment free workout (click here to check out mine) or find out where the closest gym in town is and figure out your route there.
It’s all about planning ahead to get your training done while traveling. It’s so easy to put it off and become complacent but let me tell you, it feels amazing to stay on top of it ESPECIALLY when you are on vacation after all, this is a lifestyle.
This week, I planned 5 days of training which included 4, 60 minute cardio sessions and 3 days of lifting. I also added a day of active rest which included scuba diving in Cozumel.
The difficulty may be scheduling for you. Of course seeing as how you are on vacation, you want to enjoy as much of the sunshine or daylight as possible so I would recommend planning your pre and post workout meals and training during dusk or first thing in the morning.
