Easy Healthy Pita Bread Pizzas

The other day Garrick and I were craving pizza but we didn’t want to ruin how good we had been eating for the day so we decided to make our own healthy version.

I found this pita bread and I thought it would work perfect to make the pizzas.

You will need:

  • Pita bread
  • any low sugar pizza sauce
  • spinach
  • turkey pepperoni
  • mozzarella cheese I do part skim
  • and a dash of parsley

Preheat your oven to 350 and I like to cover my baking sheet with aluminum foil, and spray your pan with coconut oil and place the pita bread on your sheet.

Next I put a tablespoon of sauce one each pita and then chopped up some spinach really fine, this is optional I just choose to to add some veggies when I want more of a classic pizza.

Add the cheese, pepperoni, and parsley and bake for 7-10 minutes depending on how you want the crust to be.

These pizzas were delicious. You could also use these as a healthy alternative for your kids lunches. You could make them a healthy pizza “lunchable”. Just put all the ingredients in separate containers and they could put them together just like lunchables but this option would be so much healthier and cheaper!

Recipe: Pizza

Description: It’s popular for all the right reasons.

Game Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Tomato, Cheese

This recipe restores 150 energy and 60 health. It can be obtained from the Cooking Channel and sells for 300g.

Difficulty: Easy, 45 minutes. Serves 6.

One time I opened up a store-bought frozen pizza and there was half a bell pepper sitting on it. Not even sliced or anything, just an entire half-pepper lying there.

Crust:

-1 package of yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
-1 cup warm water
-1 teaspoon sugar
-1 teaspoon salt
-3 cups flour
-2 tablespoons olive oil
-Seasoning (optional)

Toppings:

-156mL can of tomato paste
-Cheddar cheese-about 1 cup
-Vegetables
-Whatever else you like

Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes until it’s creamy and frothy, then add the flour, salt, olive oil, and seasoning. I used Greek seasoning, but you can use whatever you like (I recommend basil, oregano, chili powder, garlic powder, and/or anything else that appeals to you).

Once it’s fully combined, turn out the dough on to a floured surface and knead for about 2 minutes, adding flour to sticky spots as needed. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough, and then transfer it to a pizza pan or cookie sheet.

Open up a can of tomato paste and apply evenly to the pizza dough, leaving a bit of space on the edges for a crust. Slice up the vegetables and meats and whatever else you may be using and add on top.

My ingredients of choice:peppers, tomatoes, green onion, and carrots, along with feta and cheddar cheese. Sometimes I like to mix in hummus with the tomato paste before applying.

Before adding the cheddar cheese. As you can tell, I can’t cut tomatoes to save my life.

Throw everything on top, and put the cheddar cheese on last. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or til crust is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.

…I got distracted by a hummingbird and accidentally overcooked it. Still delicious though.

Lobster Margherita Pizza

Personally, the Margherita Pizza is my favorite. I love the simplicity of the flavor from the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. It has a citrus flavor that combines well with the heaviness of the cheese.

I had some lobster leftovers and thought it’d be nice to make a Margherita Pizza with it- just a slight little twist to the classic. It was a delicious dish! Not only that, but it was a quick recipe that took me less than 15 minutes to make.

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¾ cup tomato juice
  • ½ tomato- sliced
  • 1/3 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/3 cup lobster meat
  • 3-4 basil leaves - chopped
  • ¼ cup mozzarella cheese
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 small pizza crust

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lay out the pizza crust on a baking pan. Spoon on tomato juice and spread evenly on top of the crust.

2. Add on shredded lettuce and spread evenly also. Place tomato slices on top, then add on the chopped basil.

3. Sprinkle on some lobster meat. Add in some salt & pepper to taste.

4. Last, add mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the assembled pizza.

5. Bake at 320'C for about 10 minutes until the crust is fully cooked. Serve hot!
