easy bruising with no reason

Safety In Your Arms

(A/N: Abuse warning! Angst/Fluff. Please enjoy reading this, and as always let me know how you like it. Thanks for reading:) You are the best!)

You looked down at the large engagement ring on you finger and didn’t feel anything. You didn’t feel love, happiness, or safety. You didn’t want to marry Jiwoon. He was abusive physically and mentally, but to everyone else he was perfect. The only thing he was good at was making sure he hit you somewhere that was easy to cover up the bruise. The only reason you were with him was because you were scared. You didn’t know how to make that first move to leave him. You knew that if you just tried to run away he would find you and beat you until you were passed out on the bedroom floor, again. No one believed you when you tried to tell them about him. In their eyes he is amazing and you are lucky to be his fiancee.

“Y/N?” You were torn out of your trance forgetting for a moment that you were at the grocery store. You looked for the person calling your name, fear taking over your body. Please don’t let it be him. Someone placed their hand on your shoulder from behind and you tensed up automatically bracing for a hit. Would he hit you in the store around all these people? “Are you okay?” Wait, that wasn’t his voice. You turned around to face the man standing behind you.

“Jin?” You remembered his face from a long time ago. The two of you used to be best friends throughout elementary until high school when Jiwoon and you started dating. He hated the fact that you had a guy friend so he made you stop talking to him. That was the first time he started hitting you.

“Y/N! Its been so long!” He pulled you into a hug and at first you felt safe and loved for the first time in such a long time. Then you got scared and pushed him away looking over your shoulder making sure you didn’t see Jiwoon anywhere.

“You can’t do that.” You started getting nervous looking around everywhere. He somehow knew everything that you did. It was like he had eyes everywhere.

-Jin’s POV-

“Y/N, what’s wrong? I haven’t seen you in years. What’s wrong with hugging my old best friend? Oh.” He looked down at your hands that were shaking and saw the obvious ring on your finger. “I didn’t know you were married.”

“Engaged, not married. That’s not the reason you can’t hug me though. Its not safe.”

“Whats not safe?” He was looking at you, a nervous mess, and you could tell he was worried.

“Oh shit.” Jin saw you straighten up and put a wide smile on your face, but he still saw the fear in your eyes. He looked to where you were looking and saw the same boyfriend from high school that tore you away from him. Jiwoon walked over to you and put an arm around your waist. Jin could see that you were uncomfortable with how tight Jiwoon was holding onto you.

“Jin! Long time no see. How have you been old friend?” Jiwoon held his hand out to me to shake. I took it and held tightly, hopefully getting the idea across that I don’t like him still.

“I am great Jiwoon. It seems to be that you are doing good as well considering you and Y/N are engaged. You are one lucky man.” Y/N made eye contact with me and it almost seemed as if her eyes were begging for help.

“We are so happy together! I cant wait to spend the rest of my life with her.” As he said this Jin noticed the way Jiwoon’s fingers dug into your side causing you to wince in pain. “Well it was good seeing you Jin, but we have to go and cook dinner for Y/N’s parents.” Jiwoon started walking away with you and Jin could only smile and wave goodbye.

-Your POV-

You were being dragged into the backdoor of your house by your wrist. You kept tripping over your feet not being able to keep up with Jiwoon in front of you. As soon as you made it to your bedroom Jiwoon pushed you to the ground hard causing your arms to buckle when you tried to catch yourself. Your head hit the floor with an echoing thud.

“Who the hell do you think you are?! You think you can just go around and hug any guy?! You were practically all over him!” Jiwoon was pacing around the room running his hands through his neatly combed hair.

“You know he isn’t just anyone Jiwoon. He was my best friend for years before you made me stop talking to him!” Jiwoon hated when you would raise your voice at him, but this time you couldn’t help but argue back. You were fed up with all his shit. Jiwoon walked over to you and kicked you hard in the thigh causing you to scream out in pain. You doubled over and clutched at your thigh, tears slowly making their way down your face. He picked you up by your shirt forcing you to stand up and face him. He softly caressed your tear stained cheek making you feel sick. He brought his hand away and slapped you so hard you fell back to the ground. He had never hit your face before so you stayed on the ground stunned. He continued to repeatedly kick you in the back and stomach until you were able to roll away and grab the first thing your hand could find. You grasped a hair dryer disappointed at first but then turning it around and using the cord to whip Jiwoon.

Jiwoon was surprised at first because you have never resisted like this before. He had a very large red welt across his face making one of his eyes swell shut. You took the time while he was shocked to run out of the bedroom. When you got to the end of the hallway you used some of the little strength you had left to push over a bookcase temporarily blocking his way. You grabbed the keys that he threw onto the counter and made your way out to the car able to get in and pull out of the driveway before you saw him running out of the back door. You did it. You got away, but you didn’t know where you were going to hide.

You were hoping and praying that Jin was still at the grocery store. Maybe he would help you since you had been friends for so long? You parked the car and started running towards the store only to see Jin putting his groceries in the back of a black van. You ran over to him yelling his name startling him. He just turned to look at who was calling his name when you crashed into him causing him to drop the milk he was just putting it away. The milk spilled all over the parking lot soaking both Jin’s and your shoes. You held onto Jin feeling the same safety you felt before as he held you back.

“Y/N? Whats wrong?”

“We need to go. Now. Can I please go with you? He is going to find me here.” Jin pulled you away from him and looked at the growing bruise on the side of your face. He opened his mouth to ask questions and you interrupted him, “I will answer any question in the car far away from here.”

You were sitting in the passenger seat as Jin was driving. He said he would take you to his dorm where he lived with the rest of Bangtan. You told him everything that happened and all about the past couple years. You could see tears start to form in his eyes before he wiped them away to be able to see the road. He reached over and held your hand, his thumb rubbing soothing circles on the back of your hand. You reached his dorm and stood close to him as he grabbed all the groceries and took them inside. You heard yelling from behind the door before Jin handed you the key to open it.

“I’m home! And I brought a guest! I hope everyone looks decent!” Jin helped you take off your milk stained shoes as he yelled at all the boys. You stepped into the dorm only to be met with six curious faces looking back at you.

“What happened to your face?” A black haired boy pointed to your face, his finger moving closer to poke the bruise.

“Jungkook! Don’t be rude.” Jin slapped his hand away and you flinched at the sound. “This is Y/N she has been my best friend since elementary school, and because of her ex she didn’t talk to me for a while. But now she is here and we are going to protect her.”

“Wait, the same Y/N that you have loved since elementary school?” A short blonde boy said this and Jin shot him a warning look.

“Ah… uh yeah.” Jin rubbed the back of his neck and looked over at you. You blushed and looked down not wanting to make eye contact. “Can everyone help with the groceries please?” They all took a bag and left you alone with Jin. He stood in front of you now and grabbed your hand.

“I’m sorry Jin.”

“For what?”

“For not talking to you for all these years, for thinking you didn’t like me, for dating Jiwoon, for asking for your help.”

“Y/N I will help you whenever you need it. There is no need to feel sorry for any of that. Now show me where else you are hurt and lets see if I can do anything.” He lead you into a separate room and shut the door. You lifted the bottom of your shirt up a bit to show him the very large bruises forming across your stomach, back, and, sides. He gently ran his fingers across all of them careful not to hurt you. So this is what it felt like to be loved and cared for? Jin lent you some of his sweat pants and a hoodie to wear. He cooked you dinner and sat with you on the couch to watch a movie with the rest of the boys. During the middle of the movie you started to fall asleep your head leaning onto Jin’s shoulder. He moved his head down and kissed the top of your head and whispered, “You don’t have to be afraid anymore Y/N. I will take care of you. We will take care of you.” To those words you fell asleep feeling safe.

Possible causes of bruising in pregnancy

I’ve seen the photos and a few posts in regards to KerBear’s bruised arms and legs. When you’re pregnant you have an increased blood volume. Your blood volume increases more than the new vessels that are formed. This is part of why women are at risk for pregnancy induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia/eclampsia. Increased pressure in your vessels from increased blood volume coupled with increased fluid volume can lead to easy bruising. Generally this happens in people who are thin and, therefore, have less subcutaneous fat stores. Venous return to the heart is also compromised when a woman is pregnant which only compounds the problem. Venous return is encouraged by keeping feet elevated and rest neither are things I think Kerry is doing very often.

A second reason for easy bruising is thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) which would be more medically important as it can lead to complications with delivery. This is routinely monitored through a CBC by the OB/GYN.

Not that either of these is the definitive reason for her bruising but just so everyone is aware that there are plausible explanations for having bruises when you’re pregnant.
