Jack Frost & Danny Phantom, "Well one of us is gonna have to change."
If North had known the catch–that when Jack asked, “Can I invite a friend to the party?” he’d meant, “Can I invite a human to the party?”–he probably would’ve said No.
“What are you talking about?” Jack laughed, face scrunching up in amusement, crossing his arms. He looked a bit out of place without his staff (it was a masquerade party, and he’d come dressed in the black and white garb of a popular American superhero named Phantom), but Jack’s eyes still shone with the familiar glint of a trickster. “Danny’s not human. Not entirely.”
“Ah, but there is the issue, my friend. Part human is still human.” North explained, casting a wary glance across the room. The boy in question chatted animatedly with Tooth, Bunny, Coatlquetzal, and the Groundhog. Danny himself had a blue hoodie, brown pants, and a certain crooked staff in his hands. North tried to shake off the uncanny resemblance; if Danny only had a white wig, he’d be identical to Jack Frost.
Danny wasn’t having any trouble seeing the guests, though, despite being well past the age of most believers. North wasn’t sure if the boy was a medium or had nonhuman heritage, but it didn’t matter. It was still dangerous.
“There are many spirits here who would take advantage of a human,” North pointed out. “Not at my party, perhaps. But after.”
“Danny? No. he can take care of himself.” Jack said.
North raised a skeptical eyebrow, so Jack called over, “Hey Danny! Come meet Santa.”
From across the room, Danny and Jack shared a knowing glance, and briefly North wondered what was going on between the two. He didn’t have much time to ponder it, though, as the teen tactfully broke away from his conversation and ambled over with a smile.
Danny offered a hand to shake. “Nice to meet you, North, Jack’s told me a lot about you. And… my dad’s a big fan,” he admitted sheepishly.
North shook the offered hand, casting a confused glance to Jack, who just grinned, eyes sparkling. “So North seems to think,” Jack started out before North could get a word in edgewise, “That you’re human.”
A pause, and instantly, Danny grinned too. “I knew that whole ‘watching you 24 hours a day’ thing was BS.” He turned to North, eyes dancing with such amusement that North irrationally wondered if he was Jack’s twin. “Are you asking for a demonstration, then?”
North blinked. “Demonstration?”
Grinning, Jack stole his staff, and Danny stepped back, hands clenched at his side.
And then a white ring appeared around the teenager’s waist.
Heads turned as the bright flash grew, parting over Danny’s form to completely change his appearance. The hoodie and pants transformed into black and white hazmat; Danny’s black hair inverted to white. In an instant, the human was gone, replaced by Phantom, ghost superhero of legend.
North’s jaw dropped. Jack, behind him, laughed.
“See? What did I tell you? That was priceless!” Jack sauntered over to lean an elbow on Danny’s shoulder. North blinked. Now Jack and his guest were both wearing the same outfit, and except for the height difference and one’s green glowing eyes, the two looked identical.
Danny poked Jack in the chest. “Yeah, but now one of us is gonna have to change.”
“Bloody hell,” whispered Bunny from somewhere behind North, echoing his thoughts. “I can barely handle one Jack Frost–what’re we gonna do with two?”
18,678 words, Pining and Fluff. Jack has some issues with his senses. Namely, that he really doesn’t have them.
Bunny agrees to help wake up Jack’s senses, but he’s got this teeny tiny, itty bitty, twitterpated problem….
-The file name for this fic is ’The one where Bunnymund is stupid and cockblocks himself’, because Bunnymund decided to see just how much of an idiot he can be. The answer is ‘very’.
This is… my favorite thing I have drawn in years. Now you know what all those horse and hare studies were about. The only reason this has a decent background is because I’ve been watching Bob Ross videos while working on it. xD haha That man is truly inspiring!
Here are some notes on this AU, taken straight from google docs. I really love this idea and would love to revisit it in the future. ^^
The Lunanoff royal family has been slain by Pitch, except for Manny, or Prince Lunar, who grew up in the protective bubble of the Moon Clipper which has completely isolated him from the outside world. While technically still Tsar, he cannot rule over his Kingdom in a necessary capacity, but he’s found a way to communicate with his subjects through magic, so every few thousand years, he chooses a Heir to rule in his stead.
The heirs are chosen from a vast court of lesser royalty that still have at least a drop of royal blood flowing through them, and thus the magic that is meant to protect the Kingdom. Everyone wants to be noticed and chosen, so the competition has grown cutthroat over the centuries and the court has been corrupted from the inside.
As the previous Heir falls prey to Pitch’s machinations, Pitch uses the distraction to gather his forces in secrecy. He’s planning a full-on assault on the unsuspecting Kingdom.
The Guardians are protectors of the Kingdom and are there to support the chosen Heir. While the Guardians sometimes fall and are chosen anew, some, like Bunny and Sandy, have looked over countless Heirs in their lifetimes.
As the ceremony for the choosing grows closer, everyone is speculating who the new Heir will be. To everyone’s shock, the Tsar’s choice falls on someone no one had expected - Jack Frost, a young princeling barely into adulthood, with a very obscure lineage that makes everyone question if there’s any royal blood in him at all.
Of course, Bunny is the most outraged by this decision, because all he’s seen of Jack through the years has been nothing but the young princeling fooling around and causing trouble. He has no faith in the new Heir and no desire to serve him.
Jack is as flabbergasted as the rest of them. He’d always felt left out of the court, but he’s never wanted to take part in the intrigue and certainly never expected to get the title of Tsarevitch Lunanoff. He doesn’t take his responsibilities seriously at first, thinking there has to be some kind of mistake that will certainly be corrected soon.
Everything changes when the Guardians discover traces of Pitch’s evil plot. With cryptic silence from Tsar Lunar, the Guardians have no other choice but to school the young Heir in the skills necessary to fight a coming war.
Forced to work together, Bunny gradually learns more about Jack and grows to respect him for who he is. While he may not be like any of the previous heirs, there’s something in the young man that sparks joy and laughter in the people around him. Perhaps, this is exactly the ruler their Kingdom really needs.
Bunny - an advisor and head of guard in peacetime, he is always by the Heir’s side. A scout and spy in wartime, he takes risky missions to sniff out information about Pitch’s movements, sometimes quite literally. He is an expert in moving in the shadows or underground, using his speed and quick wits to his advantage.
Toothiana - mistress of the servants in peacetime, she is secretly the Tsar’s spymaster, keeping an eye on the court’s activities thanks to her servant girls. In wartime, she is a strategist and general. She is used to taking command and seeing the bigger picture, but she’s also a proficient sword fighter who is never found on the sidelines, but rather in the midst of battle.
North - a genius and innovator in peacetime, his countless creations are meant to make everyone’s lives better, while other times, they are meant to entertain. He doubles as the master of ceremony for the Tsar. In wartime, his workshop produces all the weapons and machines needed to arm the fighters. His creative mind isn’t limited to technology, but also helps brainstorm surprising solutions when fighting against the enemy.
Sandy - stable master in peacetime, he provides transportation for all
the court’s needs. His favorite pastime is looking after the highly
priced dreamsand horses and other creatures created by his magic – when
he is not found taking a nap. In wartime, his immense magical power has
proven to be an obstacle to Pitch time and time again.
E. Aster Bunnymund is an ancient creature known as a “Pooka”, though to humans he is most widely known as the “Easter Bunny”. He is immeasurably old, and has borne witness to many ages and eras, both before and after the dawn of humanity. But of all eras, none are quite as fabled, glorious, or inspiring as the Golden Age, where magnificent ships sailed the stars, and the most beautiful of dreams were only a hair’s breadth from reality.
To this day, he paints masterpieces reflecting the Golden Age on, appropriately, golden eggs. There can be no better canvas for his masterful artworks, as the egg is considered the holiest and most beautiful of shapes to his people, representing new life, restoration, growth, and rebirth.
His people have also perfected the art of chocolate making, and he creates many sweet wonders- which he shares with the children of the world, once per year.. As well as those who are children at heart.
His greatest golden masterpieces he carefully hides in the secret places of the world- he is extremely clever, but you may find them any day of the year in secret, magical places, if you only look hard enough..
And thus, E.Aster Bunnymund and Jack Frost exchanged their vows on February 29th, the enchanted day when winter marries spring.
Weddings are awful and wonderful. Magical weddings twice as much.
North and Tooth are happy to provide their special brand of encouragement. Sandy does the honors, because no words are necessary. Bunny and Jack are fools in love and only have eyes for each other. Pitch is hissing in the background at not being invited. :^)
Book!Bunny is way different from movie!Bunny. Book!Bunny is that grumpy older English gentleman that lives down the street in the little house with the white picket fence that yells at you cause you’re too close to his red roses EVEN WHEN YOU’RE ACROSS THE STREET
One of the most popular fanfic tropes in any fandom is probably coffeeshop!AU, but when thinking of Bunnymund and Jack, my mind immediately went to ART SHOP, and then of course I had to give human!Bunny another try. Hope you like this new headcanon for his design. He’s supposed to have darker skin, with some mixed Australian heritage.
Jack is an art student, part-timing at an art supply shop. Aster is the hot customer that regularly comes in to buy supplies for his countless projects.
They have flirted with each other from day one, but have a bit of an antagonistic relationship, since one time Jack criticized a piece of art that all his fellow students were raving about in front of Aster, not knowing that he was the one to draw it. In reality, Aster is a popular artist, but he’s so reclusive and focused on his work that not many people know what he even looks like.
Of course, this leads to Aster thinking that Jack is full of himself, and being kind of a jerk about it in return, but his opinion starts to change when he sees Jack doodle in his notebook at work. He doesn’t want to admit it, but he’s impressed by Jack’s talent and wants to see what the young man can accomplish with some proper tutelage.
And that’s the premise to their romantic storyline. ;D
