“To me Van Gogh is the finest painter of them all. Certainly the most popular, great painter of all time. The most beloved, his command of colour most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world, no one had ever done it before. Perhaps no one ever will again. To my mind, that strange, wild man who roamed the fields of Provence was not only the world’s greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever lived.”
I already said in ‘favorite companion’ how much I love Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. However, I don’t want to repeat the answer, so I will say another actress that I absolutely adore: Alex Kingston, also known as River Song. The character is fantastic: I love her sense of humor, I love how brave she is, I love that she is crazy about the Doctor, but she never lets this feeling exceeds the necessary amount. The best thing is that she is not that regular on the show, so everytime she appears we know something big will happen. And the whole concept of her story with the Doctor and how their timelines are completely opposite makes her even more fascinating. However, nothing of this would be possible if she was not played by a great actress, and Alex IS this actress. I can’t imagine any other actress playing River so well. She has such personality and spirit as the character, they are really made for each other.
I mean just look at him, I’m getting a little teary just thinking about it. The whole thing with Wilfred in box thingy and how 10 gave his life for him and how he was all upset about it but did it anyways and the visiting of the companions and Rose and “I don’t want to go” and…. oh dear
