word count: 1.4k of fluffy angst

You clock out of the nightclub at midnight There are patrons scattered about the dimly lighted place, but otherwise it’s more of a slow night. The three men that you had been serving sat at the bar, more or less gone from the amount of alcohol you’ve poured them. There’s a group of men seated in one of the booths, seemingly in a serious conversation. You think it might have something to do with the two older women that sits across the room, if their methodical system of taking turn in glancing at them was anything to go by.

“Better leave now, Red, before I make you stay the night with me,” Jaehyung threatens while buffing a tumbler glass.

Jaehyung and you rotate shifts, and tonight he’s on from now to closing at five. Most of the time, you work the first shift, opening at six and leaving at twelve. Your boss is more considerate than he looks, and he tries to make it a point to let you out before late– well, despite it being midnight, but it was a nightclub afterall.

“Yeah, not a chance, Jae. I have a paper to write, so unless you want to write it for me,” you trail off, prompting him to bite the bait. But he doesn’t, not when he has an acrimony towards education.

“Get out of here, you.”

You laugh. “Thanks for switching shifts with me. See you.”

Day twenty: Think of the last movie you saw. Would the protagonist be a good companion? Or maybe they’d be the villain?

Well, seeing as the last movie I saw was An Adventure in Space and Time… I’m just going to use Verity Lambert. She would be an amazing companion! She overcame so many obstacles while working to prove herself and to make Doctor Who successful, and that takes strength, hard work, and perseverance. Any Doctor would be lucky to have her as a companion.

Day sixteen: Which episode or scene made you feel all the feels?

“I have a new destination. My journey is the same as yours, the same as anyone’s. It’s taken me so many years, so many lifetimes, but at last I know where I’m going. Where I’ve always been going. Home. The long way around.”

I cried during this scene. As the Eleventh Doctor took his place amongst all the rest, and you just stare at your screen as it zooms out to show all the Doctors, with William Hartnell standing proudly behind them… It just kind of seems like, “Look at where we started, and look how far we’ve come.” It’s been over 50 years since this show began. 50 years! It’s been happy, and sad, and silly, and solemn… The Doctor has gone through so many challenges, both in his own world and the real one. And yet, he’s prevailed. He’s brought people joy, and gotten them through hardships, and even saved their lives, and that’s not just on screen. Because so many people have loved the Doctor, from the day he first appeared on screen in 1963 all the way to today. It’s thanks to them, to us, that the Doctor continues to live on, and it almost felt like this scene was saying thank you for that.

#30 Days of Doctor Who

  • Day four (24 June): Who has been your favorite historical appearance? Was it Madame de Pompadour? Maybe Winston Churchill?

Definitely Vincent Van Gogh. That episode was beautiful and moving, and still full of fun moments despite its depressing undertones. Also, great depiction of synesthesia. It’s so rare when it’s depicted as it is (some sort of weird neurological condition rather than some sort of superpower).

30 days of Doctor Who day 2, favourite companion.

Donna, because she says the most genius things about Ten’s figure.  Plus a multitude of other reasons.

30 day of Doctor Who.

03. Favorite male companion: Rory Williams

You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful. And then you actually talk to them, and five minutes later they’re as dull as a brick? Then there’s other people, and you meet them and think, not bad, they’re okay. And then you get to know them, and their face just sort of becomes them, like their personality’s written all over it. And they just turn into something so beautiful. Rory’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever met.

#30 Days of Doctor Who

  • Day five: What’s your favorite episode?

It works so well because it’s so simple and because in the end, we never really knew what the creature was, what it wanted, or if it was a creature at all. Also, it takes everything that the Doctor usually does in that kind of situation (trying to take control, talking his way out of problems, saving everyone…) and uses it against him. That’s brilliant.

↳ Who is your favorite companion, either full time or one off?

  • Frobisher, companion of the Sixth Doctor

This was a hard one! But, I decided that I was probably going to see twenty-Ace McShane’s and (hopefully) a few Nyssa’s, so I went with Frobisher as he’s so under appreciated! I adore him, because, well, he’s adorable and because he’s… actually… a penguin. He’s the reason I started reading Sixie’s comics, and I’m glad I did now!
