LEAVING AFGHANISTAN: Looks as if my Flick R raids proved to be fruitful, as per usual. This image that I came across on DVIDSHUB’s account is one that is full of quiet tension. A helicopter looks ready to set off (although in reality it may have remained stationary) just as the sun begins its ascent into the sky at dawn. The photograph of the aircraft was taken in Afghanistan, which adds another layer of mystery, danger and intrigue to it. Even without its context, it could still stand as a Kubrick-esque film still of a pivotal, quietly significant moment in a 1960s or 70s thriller and be just as captivating. Yet somehow the information that comes along with the photo gives it an uneasy, conflict-related edge that is far more compelling in its reality.

Working on a story about Bright Star/Richard Dawar (formerly Shining Star, he got Edited) dealing with studying astronomy, dealing with the shit that the mad astronomy students from the Mad Science Department cook up, and the problems on the football field*.

These are the safety posters in the observatory. You can see they’re not aimed at the kids in Richard’s class.
