DuckTales is coming back in new series on Disney XD. The new series will feature the original cast of characters including Scrooge, Donald, Launchpad, and Huey, Dewey and Louie. It’s hard to believe that the old series ended in 1990, but this new series will premier in 2017.

No word yet on what kind of animation the new series will feature, but I have a hunch it will be computer animation. I’d personally like to see a new style in any kind of animation, but hope that there is a strong attention to detail as in other series such as Gravity Falls or the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We shall see.

In any case, I’m excited to see more animated shows being announced and for an exciting future for television animation in the next few years.

i sincerely hope they don't reboot ducktales like cartoon network rebooted teen titans.

The level of fucking up Disney would have to do to ruin this for me is borderline impossible.

((With the news of the DuckTales reboot I would just like to restate my opinion of the series. Though I consider myself a fan of Carl Barks and Don Rosa first and foremost, I don’t see DuckTales as a bad series, not to say that it doesn’t have its share of flaws and bad episodes. I feel that the characters and stories - well, a majority of them - are entertaining though certainly not up to par with Barks and Rosa. Yes it’s certainly different from the comics but the fact is most comic-based shows do deviate from their source material at least a little. Did The Joker kill Bruce Wayne’s parents? No but I’d still say the ‘89 Batman is a great movie. For that matter I look at DuckTales the way a lot of Batman fans look at the ‘66 series - certainly different from the character and comics they’re familiar with but still a fine, entertaining series and very well-done for its time.))

17 Times "DuckTales" Was The Most Delightfully Crazy Show On TV

REMINDER: DuckTales was sort of insane.

The episode where they parodied Homer’s Odyssey, complete with creepy duck Sirens:

Even if you don’t remember this now, you will DEFINITELY REMEMBER IT upon viewing this scene again.

When this dinosaur somehow got an adorable little jail hat:

Scrooge has one too, but that ain’t a surprise, he’s always got the hook up.

When Scrooge went to the future, and got to see the adult versions of Huey, Dewey, Louie:

Three piece suits, but still rocking the baseball hats.

The episode where Donald gets tricked into giving up military secrets to a foreign spy about a classified Navy submarine.

A sub that was built by Scrooge McDuck’s companies. Yes, really.
