Gabriel was the last angel to arrive in Purgatory. Of all the Angels, Fallen, Arcs and Princes, his was the last split of the sky, the final flash of light. The last signal that all players were on the board and now it was simply a case of who won out. The dark, or the light.
His arrival in Purgatory wasn’t easy - having to adapt to a mortal body, feeling raw emotions, physical pain, loss, grief, guilt… Knowing that his kin were in hiding and being unable to control the suppression of his grace completely, he’s trying to seek them out, gather forces and be the one who will restore enough faith to bring a sense of purpose back to the fold.
He loves humans, dearly - though seeing how most of them are forced to exist is heart-breaking. And while he seeks out others who might be willing to make a stand, he does what he can to help, at the same time, undermining the position and power of the Princes wherever he sees an opportunity.
His main aim is to find Michael. If he can just persuade his brother back into the fight, he’s absolutely confident that Lucifer and his minions can be driven back, can be thrown from their lofty seats of power and a more peaceful and prosperous time will come to the souls of Purgatory – hoping, that, in the end… Perhaps if the light returns, that Heaven will open again and he might once more see his Father and the home he misses so much.
But for now - he’s like everyone else. Trying to find his feet, a way to survive. More comfortable in human presence than most of his kind, he’ll continue to try to make the life of every soul he meets just a little bit better, a little bit brighter and a little bit easier, any way he can…
