drum hardware

A case of the Midnight Blues...

This weekend, I took a quick run up the NJ Turnpike to “scenic” South Amboy, New Jersey to grab a nice lot of 1980-81-ish vintage, Midnight Blue Metallic Imperialstars. I guess South Amboy can only be considered “scenic” if you enjoy living in the shadow/armpit of Staten Island and decidedly downwind of the lovely and equally “scenic” Elizabeth, NJ…and all the smells it has to offer.

My little boy Colt was very excited about “the cool drums my Dad got me”.

As the video below shows, besides the main drum haul, there were also several nice hardware pieces included. In the pile were an 80′s Tama Titan hi hat stand, a Titan throne, a PDP hi hat stand, a vintage Ludwig Hercules concert tom stand (worth a small fortune itself), two Tama Lever glide pedals, a Pearl and an early DW 5000 pedal, a Tama MC6 multi clamp and a late 70′s vintage Zildjian 18″ crash (cha-ching!).

Colt gives the guided tour…with a little help from his sister Lyla…

The 24″ kicks were in nice shape and very cool to find…

…especially the virgin, no tom mount kick shell.

The concert toms and the 16″ and 18″ floor toms were in equally nice condition, with both “big knob” tone controls still intact.

Colt gives the floor toms a good pounding…as he rocks out with his lobster socks out…

If anyone is interested in any of the pieces please be in touch. The two kicks may be already spoken for, but at the moment, I think the only pieces I’m going to hold onto are the 16″ and 18″ “big knob” floor toms. This kit makes me want to put together a smaller sized Midnight Blue Stewart Copeland Police replica kit. Midnight Blue Metallic Imperialstars are getting scarce so I’m going to hold on to those two drums for now.

Good to see him back at it again…! Also, that snare sound though…
