So turns out there was a drug lab in our apartment building...

We were already thinking of moving, this just made the idea concrete. I wonder how many other people will be moving out because of this…

- ah apparently the drug lab was somewhere else. But the men lived here and kept all their drug money and 3 loaded handguns in the apartment 0.0 #thisshitdoesnothappeninaustralia

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 29, 2014:

A 49-year-old man’s plan to set up a drug laboratory at his home in Relau was short-lived when it was raided by police on Tuesday.

State Narcotics deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Lee Keng Chuan said police raided the apartment unit around 12.30pm after a tip-off.

He said the unit could not be considered a drug laboratory yet as it was not fully equipped with drug-processing equipment.

He said the drugs seized, worth RM200,000, were meant for local distribution, especially on the mainland.

He said the suspect was believed to be have been operating for about six months and had six previous criminal records and drug-related offences.

He said the suspect also tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine abuse.

“We seized 202g of ketamine powder, 324g of heroin, 744g of methamphetamine, 35 Ecstasy pills, 2,300 eramine pills, two bottles of acids and drugs processing tools,” he said at state police headquarters in Jalan Penang earlier today.

Lee said they also confiscated RM3,636, S$100 and 6,410 bahts, adding that the suspect had been remanded until Nov 2.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
