An alien converses with a human scientist about hair, I think fur is unknown to them. They’re unlikely to take off the full hood (important cultural thing), but they’re lifting it up to show that they have no fur.

I really ought to draw some other characters again, I’ve just been 100% all over these my last few sketches! It’s just that this is the first time I’ve visualised these ones via drawings despite coming up with them years and years ago. It’s exciting to finally explore them!

Baby Steven’s fine, Lapis just ate the batteries in the radio.

She also assures the gems that she totally remembered that humans need air waayyy before his arms started flailing.

No one felt the need to mentioned this to Greg.

Every time I think about drawing a mum-swap comic I end up planning out an entire episode in my head and have to shrink it down to one joke. There’s one I keep coming back to and I might end up drawing the whole thing out Eventually.

To the surprise of no one, it’s mainly about Peridot. Although to be fair I do fairly long Jasper one in reserve.

Art Help: Figures

Because you asked, let’s talk about bodies now. I know some cartoonists like to just throw anatomy out the window altogether, which can be fun and creative, but I prefer to know what’s inside and behind the things I’m drawing, I like to know what constructs a body, including the human figure, so #1 advice would be to just do a lot of figure drawing when you can:

It doesn’t even have to be 100% realistic all the time, just learn to do it properly. After a while, you’ll be able to whip up a body in whatever pose you want without references. I drew these two tutorial pages without checking references or anything, these are just blind doodles, which shows that practice and the knowledge of structure work wonders! (And that I probably should’ve checked out some muscle references afterall but ehh close enough.)

And now, onto how you can get creative with what you’ve learned.

As it is always, just the sheer shape of a character’s body can be an instant visual indicator of their personality. Use this wisely and strategically. Unconventionality can add to this too. (Toothpick arms on a round-bellied character can look quite comical. Or sometimes it’s just a nice change.) However, though that kind of stuff is a long way from realistic anatomy, I still prefer to always make up a core structure to a given character, however impossible their body may be biologically. This way you won’t have ill-proportioned characters, you won’t lose control over them, and you can pinpoint where their centre of gravity is, and so on. Learn to find the possibilities of breaking free from realism but limit this freedom so that your character still makes sense and doesn’t lose form like a melting pudding. Know how far they can bend, stretch, etc. This would be vital if you were to make the character move. Take this jumping sack, for example:

This was just some weight practice from a few of months ago, I only posted it on my other blog just because it wasn’t anything interesting, really. (Look at it go “woouummmpfh”. ^^) That’s why structure, joints and weights and centres of gravity matter. You can get creative and simplify bodies to whatever extent you feel like but I personally prefer to keep characters make sense - it’s a bit harder to make work but it pays off so much when they can be shaped more dynamically when the need arises!

That’s all, you can find tons of anatomy tutorials and references around the internet and, if you can’t get a chance to go to a firgure drawing class, I’d even suggest doing favours for your friends/family/boyfriends/girlfriends/mysterious neighbours in exchange for them posing for a couple of hours for you. (Or blackmail your crush into it and write in about how it went. Or, don’t take life advice from me and you’ll probably be fine…)

Hope this is helpful and, as always, have fun drawing!

‘I just love telling stories by any median really, whether I can draw it or paint it or even my makeup. I just want to do anything that can help me express how I’m feeling or things I want to say. I feel like it’s so important to get a lot of stuff out when you’re super emotional. I’m just a very emotional human being so I always try to find an outlet.’

I'm curious where appeal for guro comes from. It seems that you don't fetishize guro, but you definitely draw it; my question is do you have any comments on why you have an affinity for it? Why other people enjoy it? I mean your artistic merit is fantastic, I would just like your perspective on this kind of thing, ya know?

This is a good question! I’m not sure about other people but for me, I just love the way blood/organs/injuries/etc look, they’re very pretty. When I draw violent gore, it’s because I find it fun and interesting to explore the cruel side of humanity through fiction. Some people are always so quick to say that dark emotions or ideas are bad and wrong, and they are if you explore them in real life, but I don’t think it’s bad or wrong to explore them in fiction. There’s super cruel depraved scenes in horror movies all the time, I don’t see gore/guro art any different than that. When I draw “artsy” gore, it’s because I really love surrealism and gore is kinda surreal to me because it’s not something you see in your everyday life. It’s kinda strange to think that right now we’ve all got these organs, muscles, bones, blood, etc inside of us. Gore is just exposing that to the eye :D

Kaneki doodle.

Started out as a quick sketch for a dynamic pose, but my love for Kaneki just had to kick in :^))))…

Wish I was better at drawing things other than just human bodies. Struggled a bit with the butterflies and they don’t even look good, LMAO.

Enjoy, nevertheless. <3 Kaneki will never get enough love.

School start in five days here, so I decided to draw cute things and to make some gifts for amazing artist ! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ
The cutest OTP ever and Grumpy bear for Blueomoon *3*
The Bun for Kukki , Springtrap for Pole-bear ! ^o^
The cutie Foxy and lovely Mangle are for xHaruki !! >u<

Hope ya like it !  ( ಠ◡ಠ )

Thank you boppitybelle for suggesting that I draw more jewelry, I really had fun with this!

These Erens are all from different AUs!

No.1 is Eren as a beautiful mermaid that gets captured by humanity’s strongest pirate but ends up stealing the man’s heart. All of his jewelry are gifts from Levi, some are from the treasures the man stole while other he made himself with things he found on the beach!

The pirate is not the best at crafting but Eren loves the pieces nonetheless (even more than the actual jewelry from the treasures!)

No.2 is Eren as a belly dancer who lives in the palace to dance for the king and his guests. He is also known as The king’s brightest jewel. He was born as the son of the belly dancer, Carla, and therefore has never been outside the palace.

It is only after he meets Levi, one of the most powerful Emperors at the time, when he finally gets to see the outside world.

You can find more of the AU here.

Last but not least, No.3 is Eren from, what I call, the hot neighbour AU. Basically Eren is really beautiful and everyone wants to date him but he only has eyes for Levi, his short, grumpy and very oblivious neighbour.

I didn’t color him nor give him any jewelry because I don’t take this AU as serious as the other two, haha (also I ran out of patience) but you can find another piece of this AU here.

part 8 of always human?

Sooooo, here’s how things are going on the Always Human front.

I’ve been in contact with the Line Webtoon staff and I’ve seen the contract and I’m very happy with it and once I receive the physical copy of the contract I will sign it and send it off and things will be 100% official! Which is really, really cool :D

The lady I’ve been talking with has also said that she wants to start serialising Always Human on the main site in September (!!!) So, as of September, I will tell my teaching agency that I’m taking a break from teaching and I’ll be drawing full time and there will be weekly updates and everything will be awesome!

But, here’s the bad news for you guys.

When a comic moves from the challenge league section of the webtoons site to the main section, it essentially resets. It starts again from the first part/episode and then continues on with one update a week. Which unfortunately means that everyone who’s been following Always Human from the beginning will probably have to wait for around 2 or so months for new content. Which sucks for you guys and I’m very sorry about that :(

(I’ve been following Faust which recently moved from the challenge league to the main site and I am frothing at the mouth waiting for the updates to catch up to what I’ve already read and then finally, joyfully, new content!)

The hiatus wont be all bad - it’ll let me build up a nice buffer and I can also go back and fix some of the off-model drawings and add in a few more background/establishing shots and just generally make the comic better. But I can see that it’ll be very frustrating for everyone reading the comic now and I apologise for that.

So, what does this mean for part 8?

Well, part 8 will be the first half of Sunati and Austen’s date. Part 9 will be the conclusion of the date.

Part 8 is close to being finished, but I don’t want to post part 8, and then have the comic restart on the main site, and then everyone currently reading the comic will have to wait two months for part 9. I don’t want there to be such a big time gap between the beginning and the resolution of the date. I feel like a hiatus between part 7 and part 8 works okay, but a hiatus between part 8 and part 9 will completely disrupt the flow of the story.

So I’m holding off on part 8 for now. If I find I can finish and post both part 8 and part 9 before the comic resets on the main webtoons site then I will definitely do that! But I don’t know if that will be possible, so I will instead beg for your understanding and patience :)

Once I have actual official information from the webtoons staff, I’ll let you know more!

Thank you so much for your support and thank you for being interested in my story and my characters and the world of Always Human <3 I hope you’ll stick around during the dry spell, I can’t wait to show you all all the things I have planned :D

This is fanart for tevlek‘s Strange Magic Vampire AU fic “So What”.

I’m so in love with Human Marianne and Vampire Bog in this universe, and I’ve been itching to draw this since I read Chapter 3 - The First Bite.

So these series of drawings are what I see in my mind when I read those few paragraphs. I am so, so sorry for spoilers! I highly recommend everyone to read it if Vampires are your thing =)

Finished my first commission for my Bff ihaveasoftspotforsatan and her bro for something really silly. Basically the story behind this is: The two of them were out at Mucho Burrito, and with their meals they got some pop (I’m Canadian, bite me) with it called “Jarritos”. So basically it sounds like “Doritos” and they wanted me to do a silly picture of Steven and Dipper who are out with their Dorito babysitters, and they both run into each other and do the “cheers” thing with their bottles as they mutually compliment each others crazy non-human triangles. Obviously this is totally OOC stuff. Peridot and Bill don’t see eye to eye (to eye?) on the other hand (or lack of hands in Peridot’s case). Gosh this is confusing, haha. Also sorry that Dipper looks a bit odd, this was my first time drawing him >>

Interested in a Simple Fullbody Coloured drawing like this? More information on my commissions can be found [HERE].

Here, have a rather mediocre drawing of me in my uniform.  The photo is awful because phone + really off colored lighting ≠ fun.  :<  First time seriously drawing clothing OR anything band related.  I feel really band-y lately, so might as well.  Wharton Regiment represent.  :v

I actually did have to pull up my band photo from last year, which is this (go go gadget-obnoxious watermark):

Well, at least I had that so I knew how to draw the uniform. :v

And no, my hair isn’t blue anymore, and it wasn’t during marching season (photos were taken well after).  Part of me misses it, but it is such a pain in the ass to keep up AND I already have a hard enough time being taken seriously.

Oh!!! Will you please sketch me? Also, you're a wonderful human being and who is amazingly talented in the art of art and writing. :) also, I hope you have a fantastic day!! :) love you :)

The Lovely Kaylyn!

You beautiful rainbow pumpkin flower.

their true forms angers a grumpy, hairy, old red haired man who smokes to much and hates wearing nice clothes. i like to think hes like 30-40, ive been calling him rusty.

fear is a nervous wreck, way to skinny to exist, hes good at his job but tends to over think things. younger than anger i feel like he would be somewhere between 25-30 andd i dunno a name for fears, probably henry

these designs are inspired by servenerve’s designs here, i just gave them my own stylistic twist??

My problem is less people thinking they have SOs and more people making up fanfiction about some random person and going THIS IS THE TRUTH, REPENT SINNERS! at poor unsuspecting humans who just love two co-stars who are adorable and are rooting for them. People can think whatever the hell they want, but trying to force some people we don't know on shippers is where I draw the line, and the fact that this is a troll-induced narrative makes things even worse

I completely agree.  If there was verifiable proof of them having significant others we’d all deal with it like grown ups.  But to dig into Sam and Cait’s Instagram accounts and find people that they know and then claim that there is a romance and shove it down our throats by using capital letters and the word FACT, is not the way to disseminate information – private or otherwise.

Mutual inflation. Matching bootyshorts that don’t fit and sleeveless titty sweater.

Tried to do that non-human color thing that Roundndesperate does. If you mess around with color settings in sai, you can see Isaac’s original colors.

ilya’s hair is fun to draw but i might have made him look like a pony. OH WELL.
It’s 4 am I’m ready for sleep.

Been drawing more realistic stuff lately and I thought I’d try to apply the things I’ve learned to my fav space homos. So here’s what I imagine they’d look like in a less cartoony art style.

Amethyst is supposed to be the most human looking. Garnet passes fairly well, too, except for her deep, dark colorful eyes. Pearl has a more reptilian appearance, with no eyebrows or eyelashes, a short lower face and hard, smooth skin.
