draw a half circle

2

I have a sketchbook-hoarding problem, i.e. I’ll get a sketchbook, fill 3 pages with lopsided circles and half-erased head drawings, then get discouraged by my fear of “ruining” a nice clean book with crappy scribbles and stash it away in my Drawer of Shame™.  Gotta fix that.  ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Want to take on this challenge yourself?  DEWIT.  Just tag me or your post with #ssirenia so that I can see your awesome art!  >:D

You smiled to yourself as you kitted up, the boys had left and you’d received a text from Sam begging for help. Slinging your duffle bag over your shoulder you headed out to where Sam had told you to go, finding them by simply following the noise of your brothers being tossed around inside the house they’d broken into.

“Really, do you guys not carry salt or something.” You chuckled after making half a circle and drawing the ghosts attention, trapping it but dodging out of the way at the last second and using the thin iron chain you kept on you to whip through it.

Blooming Joy

Happiness, ever elusive and much sought for. It so often seems out of reach, but is it? The happiness that we feel is the happiness that we create for ourselves. What stands in our way? What stray and intrusive thoughts keep us from experiencing our full measure of joy? This is a spell to help rid yourself of the thoughts that block you from your full joy.

You will need
1. An orange or yellow candle (in a safe candleholder)
2. Lilac essential oil or a fresh lilac flower (purple)
3. A pencil and paper
4. A heat resistant bowl

Set-up

Begin by lighting the candle and placing it on your righthand side. Place the bowl on your lefthand side. Both should be within easy reach of you. In front of you, place the paper, pencil, and oil/flower. If inclined, cast a circle.

Next, gaze into the flame of the candle. Repeat five times with intention:

Flame of wonder, flame of light
Guide my mind and guide my sight

Allow your mind to clear, focusing on the flame and this question: what thoughts stand between me and my joy? If your mind wanders, which is natural and expected, acknowledge the thoughts and allow them to pass through you, present but not harming. When you have an insight into a thought that disrupts your happiness write it on the paper.

When you have three thoughts written down or when you feel there are no more thoughts to record, turn your attention to the paper. With the lilac oil or flower bloom, draw a half-circle on the paper with the top open and the bottom closed. Starting from the lowest point of the half circle draw a line going straight up and out of the half-circle. The half-circle represents you and your openness to joy. The line represents the banishment of your negative and intrusive thoughts, those things that block you from your joy. Next, touch the oil/blossom to your head and then to the spot your half-circle and line connect. You are binding your negative thoughts to the page in preparation for banishment.

Lift the page, holding it before you, and repeat with conviction:

Ill thought, ill thought
You’ve no power o’er me
Ill thought, ill thought
Banished from what I see

Holding the page in your left hand, touch the bottom right corner to the flame and carefully place the paper in the bowl. Allow it to burn to ash. If it goes out before fully burning, relight it. You are banishing the negativity and intrusive thoughts. Once you have burned the paper and you feel calm, extinguish the candle. Take the bowl of ash outside and toss it to the winds that the thoughts may be carried away.

You have freed yourself from this negativity. Though the thoughts may return, you now possess the power to dispel them. You are mistress and they cannot control you or block your joy.

Notes
Lilac: feminine, associated with Venus and the air, often used for banishment and protection.
Orange: the power of change, strength
Yellow: the power of intellect, mind over matter

6 for Madilton. (Wow i really really really like pain.)

6. “I’ve tried to move on, but no one is you.”
(Aroace Madison because why not)

”….again?“

It was quiet in the apartment, the lights all off save for a single lamp in the corner. Its golden glow hardly did a thing to dissolve the late-evening darkness of the room. James didn’t dare to turn on another light though. If there was one thing he’d learned from this, it was that Alex preferred to grieve in the dark.

Curled against James’s sides on the couch, Alex nodded mutely. He looked small in a too-big hoodie and sweatpants, socks resting on the cushion across James’s lap. His head was tucked into the crook of James’s shoulder, hair loose and soft against his skin. Normally, James wouldn’t let people so close to him. But Alex was different. Alex was practically family.

“What happened this time?” James asked quietly, hand drawing reassuring circles on Alex’s back.

Alex managed a half-shrug. “I dunno. Just didn’t…work.”

“I thought you liked Burr.”

“I did.”

“Did he do something?”

“No.”

“Then why’d you break up with him?”

Again, Alex shrugged. “I dunno,” he repeated, softer.

James sighed, long and slow, and rested his cheek against Alex’s head. This happened every time Alex got into a relationship. It went well for about two weeks, maybe three. Then, abruptly, it ended. And then Alex was a wreck. It hurt James to think of Alex in pain, but he didn’t know why he kept doing this to himself.

Dimly, he became aware of something wet seeping into a place on his T-shirt. His heart ached to realize that Alex was silently crying. His shoulders shook and James hugged him closer. “God, Alex, why?” he asked. “Why can’t you let yourself be happy?”

“I don’t know. Maybe I don’t deserve it.” Alex’s voice came out hoarse, trembly. Then he swallowed and went on in a whisper. “Honestly, Maddie? I think it’s because I’m in love.”

James stilled in confusion. “What?”

“I know. I—God, I know.” Alex buried his face in James’s shoulder, took a shuddery breath. “I’ve tried to move on, but no one is you.” It came out soft, hardly a breath and muffled in his shirt. But James heard it.

James heard it and his heart plummeted down into some dark place in his chest, because he already knew.

He knew he’d break Alex’s heart.

hi! im gonna be straightforward I'm absolute shit at drawing general head shapes and jawlines, especially front view? most of mine look like someone chopped the edges off of a rectangle. do you have any tips regarding that? i love your blog btw🙌🙌🙌

Perhaps what is not working out for you is your method of constructing the head. How about taking some shapes and stacking them together?
For a front view you can start with a rectangle (your enemy). Divide it into thirds. In the top two thirds draw a circle, in the bottom half of the rectangle add a triangle. (This doesn’t have to be precise but just as a general idea). It’s Doritio Faced Senpai! Now, from the side of the circle that touches the side of the triangle, slowly draw a curved like that meets where the point of the triangle is.  now you have a general face shape.

Next, add a vertical line to the face to divide it in half. Then, erase the rectangle, the leftover bits of the circle, and the bottom parts of the triangle. Now your face is set up for proportions! Add a line just above and below the middle blue line and a line half the distance from between the bottom red line and the bottom of the chin. Tada! Guidelines! (I forgot to mark the brow line on the lower image, but it is the top red line!). Put the pieces into place. This should help you with your general face shapes from the front view!

And thank you for liking and supporting this blog!

A/N: Hello, my lovelies! I’m here with another Stucky fic, I’m obsessed okay? Don’t judge me. I love them too much.

Anyway, this one is based off a headcanon by the wonderful @stevestuckyonbucky (thank you, again!) and this post (I hope it’s okay that this has inspired me, I did like and reblog your post with a message! If not, just let me know). And because I know she loves Stucky, I’m going to tag @undiscl0sed-desir3s! Enjoy <3

Pairing: Stucky.

Steve hadn’t meant for it happen.

He never means for things to happen around him, they kind of just do.

Still, he hadn’t wanted to do this.

Honestly.

I am back from vacation! And our studio got a few new machines, so naturally I needed to play with the new toys. The result: Tris doing what she loves most.

Only photo ref was a quick google search for a shaggy white dog to make sure I got the hair laying right. Mostly this was just for me to keep in practice since I’ve been terribly at keeping up frequent loose sketches this summer.

Simple metal charms….

Draw on design, i used a pencil to draw circles

cut out design, i made circles to cut in half to make matching earring pairs….

Once they are cut, they get lightly hammered and sanded

They then go in a patina bath

After the patina bath, they get rinsed, dried and re sanded to give it a more rustic
aesthetic.

After being sanded they get punched and used for various jewelry components <3

You can do this with various thin scrap metals and a pair of tin snips : )

I’ve watched listened to WAY too much Grey’s Anatomy (all of it from the start, within a month and a half probably, or less). xD I meant to ACTUALLY include Anders in his nurse’s outfit but the way this went he didn’t want to be in the picture. xD LATER, then.

{ +4 are following! }

Drake and Okami were just wandering aimlessly, the younger sibling’s arms crossed. From the looks of things, Drake wasn’t exactly pleased that his sister had gotten them hopelessly lost. After a short while, he eventually spoke up to the older sibling.

“How much longer do you think you’ll be taking us in circles,” he snapped, gazing at her.

“I am not taking us in circles,” Okami responded sharply, drawing a sigh from the half demon.

“Our scent is still here from the first 5 times you took us through here. Can’t you just admit that we’re lost?!”

The two siblings were so caught up in their argument that they didn’t even notice as sometime approached. They didn’t even hear the footsteps and Drake hadn’t even bothered to check for any new scents.

How To Draw Chibi Takano Masamune.

Step 1: draw a perfect circle if you can. Highly recommend a circle object or just sketch a circle like me.

Step 2: add some facial features. The eye is a bit incorrect here but just draw a simple half oval. The nose is a simple round triangular shape.

Step 3: I usually don’t draw the mouth till later steps because I feel the expression should be one of the last things, but I did so anyway. In later steps I fixed the mouth because Takano’s mouth seemed to be lower and more angled. Draw the ear and darken about half of the circle as shown. The eye is also incorrect and fixed later.

Step 4: fix the eye to a more half oval shape with a line in the top of it. Takano always has a serious demeanor so show it off. Now for the bangs. Similar to Ritsu’s, Takano has bangs in a choppy long kind of way. Hair also covers his eyes. Some hair goes deeper into the room than some that meets at the lines.

Step 5: draw a half circle a bit away from the original circle as if it were almost blanketing over it. The arrows show you exactly what I am talking about. Just make it as round as possible and draw light!

Step 6: I left the lines to show you exactly where to start. The back of the head shows the hair depart from the smooth roundness of the top to a more choppy end. Draw according to how it is drawn above.

Step 7: now the top is round but going to the right it begins to get more and more chopped but more smoothed than the rest as it goes into the bangs.

Step 8: add a eyebrow. However you want to do the eyebrow, I did a more angry demeanor for Takano in the tutorial. He is grumpy cause Ritsu is running away from him or something. Also add a bit more hair at the inside for detail. (I fixed the mouth in this step, notice it is lower and more frowned)

Step 9: make this part of the hair darker. Don’t press down your pencil so much it bleeds but make it dark as needed. I advise going along the bangs in a zigzag format.

Step 10: shade the top of the head a lighter gray and blend it into the rest of it. After so, erase some of the shade and blend it with your finger to show a light to Takano’s hair.

Finished! Good Job, I am so proud of you! ^u^

Thank you for your time and I do take requests for any Takano/Ritsu (Sekaiichi Hatsukoi/Junjou Romantica) related drawing. Don’t be shy to ask.

you didn’t specify this but i decided to write a scene from my current (as yet untitled) modern!au WIP which is turning into a beast of a fic and I’m so excited, as it is my outline is almost ¼ satisfied and I’m at 56k. This is from somewhere in the middle, but I hope you all enjoy this. Clarke, Octavia, and Lexa seducing Raven.

send me a word and a character/series/pairing and I’ll write you a drabble

“Octavia,” Raven leans over and whispers in her ear. “You realize your hand is on my thigh.” At the same moment Octavia nods she feels Clarke’s hand come to rest on the small of her back and the small patch of skin that’s exposed just above her jeans. “Oh,” she tries to not look surprised because even though the entire exchange that night could have been read as flirtatious or simply friendly, Octavia and Clarke are in a relationship with Lexa, and this is most definitely flirting.

Each of them discretely has a hand on her.

I was wondering if you could make a basic facial guide? You don't have to if you don't have time.

Since I’ve got my doodle plate out today, I’ll do one more. I apologize for how sloppy and basic this is, but it’s for general gists and whatnot.

1. Circles. Important for me.

2. Marking the direction and center of the face (the nose line)

3. Drawing a circle for the top half of the skull and defining the jaw below

4. Place eyes and nose (where the lines cross) and ears and mouth. They’re all circles. So many circles. But the shape is important.

5. Definition definition definition. See how the nose circle shapes mattered? See?

6. Hair? You get the idea from here. I’d put it on an opaque layer and draw over it, cleaner, blablabla

7. If you were wondering about expressions and not basic face building, here are a few:

**I think eyebrows and mouths are important and can lead where the rest of the face is going. Also, observe on yourself and others how the eyes themselves turn–where they pinch and widen.

Deviating From The Anime Style

Anime art style is probably the style that most beginners start out with, which is super great! Its a great style that allows a lot of freedom and creativity!

But breaking the anime habit is a struggle we can probably all understand. What you have to understand is that anime style uses a lot of extremities!

Lets start off with the head shape.

An average head size can be created by drawing a circle, then adding half of the circle to the bottom.

Proportions are very important so that your faces dont turn out too small like so

Moving onwards we have the Placement of the Eyes, Nose, Mouth.

  • Eyes will always be on the center line of the head.
  • Placement of the eyebrows varies on whether you want a masculine or feminine face. Masculine faces tend to have eyebrows closer to the eyes whereas feminine faces have more space in between the eyes and brows.
  • The bottom of the Nose will always be in the middle of the eyebrows and chin.
  • The bottom of the Lips will always be in between the middle of the bottom of the Nose and chin.

This should help avoid making your faces too concentrated at the bottom

Feminine Eyes are usually larger and rest over the cheek area, while Masculine Eyes are smaller and elongated.

Usually the rest of the features are simplified and have less weight.

Necks are also made thinner.

This does not mean that you can’t use anime-ish features incorporated into your style!! Just because you want to deviate from it, does not mean you have to reject it! Faces can be smaller, Eyes can be larger, you are free to experiment with things, mix them up!

Experiment with things until you’re happy with a way your style works, and if you wake up one morning and think maybe you liked having the eyes bigger or the ears smaller, change it until you’re happy again.
