“caroline, i’m standing in one of my favorite places in the world surrounded by food, music, art, culture, and all I could think about is how much i want to show it to you. maybe one day you’ll let me.”
I drank Vodka last night,
and it burnt my throat
and set my chest on fire
but then I remembered
the first time
I saw you with her
and compared to that
drinking Vodka felt like
sipping on lukewarm milk
with honey in it.
Summary: You and Hoseok are best friends and just like any story that starts like this, nothing good ever happens. One night when Hoseok is in his drunken state, he says some things that make you reconsider how much worth you actually have in his life.
A/N: I have a feeling this series might go over 10 parts 😁 Enjoy Xx
“Oh God, my head hurts so damn much.” You wince at the pain from turning your head even just to look at your phone. You feel the nightstand for your phone, but then your hand brushes over a piece of paper. You pick it off of the table and read it.
You drank a lot last night Y/N. I stayed the night just in case something happened, I hope you don’t mind. I also made you some hangover soup. I don’t know how long you’re going to be asleep for, but if you wake up early it should still be warm :P I have to leave now because of work. Feel better soon!
i drank the moon man
dry last night
hoping to wake up
feeling fuller than full,
but when the sun came up
i was as empty as the stars
that have already burnt away
all of their light-
the stars and i,
we are both a trick of the eye
“Surprise!” Mistress made sure that you drank lots of alcohol last night. She has put her chastity device on you this morning, and now you suddenly realize that she is your Mistress! She is cunning, ruthless, and unsympathetic to your predicament. You will never touch your pathetic penis again!“
Jojo, wake up! *muttering*
Get up, beauty, or we’ll be late for work!
Oh… my head… How do you even breathe after all that we drank last night?
Hm, a lot of practice, I suppose.
Hate you and your bloody whiskey…
i drank bleach (i know lol) last night. although im alive for now, i’m going to be taking a break as of right now. i don’t know if i’ll respond to messages. my queue is running. thank you for your time
Rules: You can find past rec lists here. This is stuff I like, and I have a huge bias toward Lance, hurt/comfort, and general fluff, in that order. Gen unless otherwise noted. Please comment on the fics if you read and enjoy them!
I’m feeling sick today (no, I’m not hungover, I had barely two hard ciders last night and I drank plenty of water) so my comments might be a little shorter than normal. I kind of just want to curl up and read sickfics and hurt/comfort and pretend that Hunk is rubbing my back very gently and kindly.
The Empty Spaces Between the Stars by slivered Word Count: 5,329
Author’s Summary: Talking was a far cry better than grunting, even if Keith’s voice did sound like… Feces, was it? Strange those human phrases that Lance had been trying to explain to him and Allura. But it didn’t sound good, was the point.*Five times Coran takes care of the Paladins. My Comments: This is super sweet and good and Coran is the best and I would like him to take care of me, too.
Road Trip to End Times by VelkynKarma Word Count:
Author’s Summary: The outbreak is at its peak, and the country is in ruins. But there’s still hope: Safe Haven, the colony on the West Coast. Reach it, and you’ll find safety and a chance to rebuild a new life in this zombie-controlled world. If you reach it, that is. But Shiro doesn’t intend to give up on trying. Not when he’s got four teenagers desperate to find their families again under his protection. My Comments: The author has been posting ficlets from this sort of tongue-in-cheek AU on tumblr, and they are all AWESOME. I will happily read them again on AO3. My favorite was the one where Shiro saves Lance from bandits, but that one isn’t on AO3 yet. But here’s Lance in his typical role as Best Morale Officer Ever, even in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.
Restless by Banji Word Count:
[X-posted on FF.net] Lance tries to find comfort in one of his friend after another night of bad dreams and worries. Keith is probably not the best choice.
My Comments: It is fluffy and I approve. Keith tries, even when he’s out of his depth.
On a Blistering Palm by Glossolalia Word Count:
Shiro’s been pushed over the edge by Quintessence poisoning, and Hunk is the only one strong enough to stop him. In the end, Lance is the only one who can pamper Hunk.
My Comments: Hance. Hunk is AMAZING. Love seeing a few more Hunk-centric fics ‘round these parts. This was tense and dark, almost unexpectedly so, but Hunk is so GOOD. Lance is exactly what Hunk needs, too.
Hold me close. by sevansa Word Count:
Lance’s heat is approaching… he has never felt so alone before.
My Comments: Turns out I have a weird affinity for platonic omegaverse fics. Who woulda thought. I always hated the concept, but when it’s done like this, I don’t know. The idea of team-as-family is just ramped up to a hundred, and with some of the pack suffering biological needs that require special attention… I dunno. I like it. This is quite an id fic for me. It feeds something. I read it twice.
Closure by wolfsan11 Word Count:
Between finding Pidge’s family and healing up from the final battle against Zarkon, the Paladins only think of heading home, back to Earth. Keith has a hard time with that idea and the team helps.
My Comments: This is just the sweetest. Everyone needs to hug Keith and reassure him that they’re family, no matter what.
Just Ask for Help by genericfanatic Word Count:
Lance is having a problem with what should be an easy task. Shiro talks him down from his frustration
My Comments: It’s sweet and simple and comforting, and kind, wise Shiro is the best.
Long Distance by Jennypen Word Count:
Someone gets the Christmas present they need.
My Comments: Gah, I just love it when the others help Lance with his homesickness.
The thing to say (On a bright, Voltron Christmas Day) by HapaxLegomenon Word Count:
Author’s Summary: “Point is, today is Christmas Eve! It’s our first Christmas as Team Voltron! We gotta celebrate!” Lance insists on having Space Christmas. My Comments: Everyone should listen to Lance all the time. This was super cute and enjoyable and fluffy and sweet. Perfect Voltron Christmas fic.
Some Secrets Don’t Need to Be Kept by squirenonny for XH Word Count:
Keith finds out he’s part Galra. It’s not as big a deal as he expects.
My Comments: Tagged Klance, but everyone is important. I love how easily everyone accepts Keith. Best-case scenario, for sure.
Final Suspicions by isabeau25 Word Count:
2,808 Author’s Summary:
Finals week is tough on teachers and students alike. The head librarian is mostly amused by this.
My Comments: The interaction between Shiro and Lance is the cutest and the best. I’m so glad the author is continuing this series.
This Is New by TheHomestuckWhovian Word Count:
3,495 (WIP 2/?) Author’s Summary: Matt Holt had heard of Voltron, and after hearing that one of the Paladins of Voltron was captured by the Galra, he decides to break him out. What follows is an irritatingly long journey to help the Paladin find his friends and to find the information Matt needs to finally go home. My Comments: I LOVE this concept. Matt is an accidental badass who accidentally performs a rescue just in time, and now he and the paladin he rescued (yeah, it’s Lance, sorry for the spoiler) have to figure out how to get back home. Can’t wait for more.
Winter High, Winter Low by carefulren Word Count:
Lance and Keith both live in the same shitty apartment complex. With a massive blizzard roaring outside and no power, Keith has to take care of an incredibly sick Lance.
My Comments: Klance. Modern AU sickfic, and it hits the spot.
Previously Recced Fics That Updated Since the Last Rec List:
For whatever reason we were talking about Star Wars at a party last night and one of the people there had never seen Revenge of the Sith. So of course Cody relates the story of how the projector image went out at our viewing but the sound was still going. This was in the temple right after Order 66 has been announced. And so John Williams’s beautifully bombastic overwrought score keeps playing, and we turned to each other and were like, “Whatever’s going on must be really fucking awesome!”
They get us into another theater and start replaying the movie where it got cut off. To put it mildly, it was a bit of a letdown.
And I was about to say there was nothing redeemable about that movie, but two moments still stand out, even though I haven’t seen it since that day in the theater.
The first is when Darth Vader’s helmet gets put on Anakin’s head, and then you hear the iconic respirator sound. Hhhh-pshhh. Hhhh-pshhh. I swear nobody in the theater breathed for a moment.
The second is that moment when he gets off the table, and he’s like “Where’s Padme?” And he’s still Anakin at this point, and he sounds like it: uncertain, still mostly human. It was the only part of the trilogy where it felt like tragedy to me, and that’s kind of a problem.
