The Weald and Downland Museum in Sussex Gridshell Building was the first timber gridshell building to be constructed in the UK. The gridshell is a lightweight structure made of oak laths called the Jerwood Gridshell Space, and this is the Museum’s conservation workshop and training space. It sits upon a purpose-built lower level, which is home to the Museum’s designated collections of tools and artefacts.
The Resolute Oaks by Langstone Joe Via Flickr: Sunset at Old Winchester Hill, Hampshire. My previous image of this location was a pastel scene, but it was gnawing away at me that I hadn’t included the companion oak tree, and that the rugged weather-beaten nature of these old trees deserves a more contrasty capture, so on this occasion I shot straight into the setting sun.
