The Weald and Downland Museum in Sussex Gridshell Building was the first timber gridshell building to be constructed in the UK. The gridshell is a lightweight structure made of oak laths called the Jerwood Gridshell Space, and this is the Museum’s conservation workshop and training space. It sits upon a purpose-built lower level, which is home to the Museum’s designated collections of tools and artefacts.

Sunset at Old Winchester Hill, Hampshire. My previous image of this location was a pastel scene, but it was gnawing away at me that I hadn’t included the companion oak tree, and that the rugged weather-beaten nature of these old trees deserves a more contrasty capture, so on this occasion I shot straight into the setting sun. Andrew & Claire's Lunchtime Concert

Today I watched a lunchtime concert at Firth Hall put on by two third year music students. I really enjoyed this concert, it isn’t often that I’m moved to smile while watching a performance!

The programme was:

Dowland: I Saw My Lady Weep; Flow My Tears; Come Again Sweet Love

Schubert: An den Mond, D.259; Wandrers Nachtlied I, D.224; An die Musik, D.547

Trad: The Water is Wide
