double wear light

anonymous asked:

Hi Rebecca! Do you have any recommendations for a light coverage, long-wear foundation? I love how long ELDW lasts on my skin but the coverage is a bit much on a daily basis. EL's new light wear foundation isn't offered in my shade yet :/ and I've tried Nars radiant tinted moisturizer but it breaks up on my skin by mid-day. Thanks so much for all your help!

Nars Sheer Glos is one of my favs. EL does have the double Wear Light (different from the new EL nude).

hi i'm going to my first year of college soon and i was wondering what things in your opinion are must-haves for school?

Hi there! Good luck on your first year of college! I’m a third year now and college is really fun :)

For long days of classes I think having a good long wearing foundation is vital! Try some long wearing foundations like

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear (they make a light version w/ light to medium coverage)
  • Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Foundation

If you’re living in the dorms like I did you might want a BB Cream to throw on and walk to class. BB Creams are super easy to apply you can even use your hands and walk out the door. Try long wearing BB Creams like

  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Glow All Day BB Cream
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer

I also love tinted lip balms for a day of classes! Easy to reapply during class, adds some color to the lips and moisturizes because sometimes classes can be super cold and dry your lips out! Try tinted lip balms like

  • Maybelline Baby Lips
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (fav!)
  • Maybelline Color Whispers
  • Revlon Lip Butters
  • Tarte Lip Surgence

You may also want to have a good touch up powder! Personally, I prefer pressed translucent powder as touch up powders because they add no coverage so it never looks cakey. Sometimes touching up with your normal pressed powder can look a little cakey. Try pressed translucent powders like

  • MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Pressed Powder
  • Makeup Forever HD Pressed Powder
  • Urban Decay De Slick Mattifying Powder
  • NYX Blotting Powder (hint of coverage)
  • Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent

What are some drugstore/high-end foundations that give a natural finish? Not too heavy, a little lightweight. I have oily skin. Thank you!!! I love your blog :)

Try ones like

  • Loreal True Match or Loreal True Match Lumi which is slightly more dewy/luminous
  • Urban Decay Naked
  • Garnier BB Cream for oily/combination skin
  • Revlon Nearly Naked
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (long wearing but more light weight than original Double Wear)
  • Makeup Forever Face & Body foundation

For a natural finish remember with powder less is more! You don’t want to look too matte and powdery because naturally the skin isnt super matte :)

I have quite a lot of acne on all parts of my face ( mostly the sides of my face, chin area) I know pretty yucky... , anyways in the summer it's harder to find something that can stay and is not as heavy. I was wondering if you had any recommendations?! Or even something that could help with the acne? Thanks :) xoxo

For summer I really recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear!

It’s a foundation more on the liquidy side which means it’s more light weight and feels lighter on the skin yet still has awesome coverage. They even make a more light weight formula called Double Wear Light however it has a little less coverage but still extremely long lasting. Double Wear is probably the longest lasting foundation i’ve ever used which is why its great for summer! Full coverage + feels light + lasts all day, aka perfect. My only complaint is that since it is so long wearing it can be a tad drying and isnt dewy or moisturizing so you will need a moisturizer under.

I also have a post all about how I treat my acne here :)

Also, lately for a spot treatment i’ve been loving the Clean & Clear Benzoyl Peroxide Persa Gel 10 because it will literally shrink a pimple overnight!

However this is very, very strong the first time I used it I applied it all over and woke up in a rash! However my bff who uses it has more resilient skin so she can use it all over and be fine. But I ONLY use a teeny tiny bit as a spot treatment and usually at night followed by a rich moisturizer since it is drying. This product is easy to use wrong but when you find the best way to use it it’s awesome for acne!

I'm going to a concert in Mountain View next week. I know it's going to be really hot. What is a great BB cream for oily skin? It doesn't matter what brand

A few tips for makeup on hot summer days

  • Use a gel moisturizer under makeup. Gel moisturizer sink into the skin and keeps your face shine free and less greasy during the day so your makeup stays put.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen! Protect that skin of yours with a super light weight sunscreen under makeup.
  • Set your makeup with a mattifying translucent powder. Translucent powder sets your makeup so it lasts all day but goes on almost invisible so you won’t look powdery and cakey under the bright sun.
  • Apply a mattifying primer in your T Zone to keep your makeup in place!

Check out long wearing, light weight foundations/bb creams like

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. The Light version is the most light weight and sheer version of their Double Wear line. Just as long wearing as the standard DW but more sheer and light weight! They also make a DW BB Cream that’s slightly more glowy.

Cover FX BB Gel Mattifying Anti Blemish Treatment. Matte finish BB Cream with added skin care benefits for acne prone skin.

Rimmel BB Cream Matte. Great budget matte bb cream! Won’t slip and slide off your skin.

I was wondering how to transition my makeup routine for the summer. I don't want to wear anything too heavy or feel like I'm wearing a mask, you know? thank you!

I totally understand i’ve just started to master my summer foundation routine as well! :)

I have a few little tricks I’ve been doing to keep my makeup feeling super light weight

  • Use a BB Cream, Tinted Moisturizer or make your own by mixing a little foundation with some moisturizer on the back of your hand to make a more light weight version of your current foundation. I love using more runny, liquidy foundations in the summer because they feel like nothing on the skin. I’ve been loving Estee Lauder Double Wear Light lately because it’s light weight and long lasting.
  • Use a translucent powder over foundation instead of pressed, tinted powder. Translucent powder not only looks more natural and feels like nothing on the skin, but really helps keep your makeup on all day which is great for summer. Translucent powders go on colorless yet still set the foundation so you don’t feel oily in the heat.
  • Use a flat top or kabuki style brush to really buff the foundation into the skin. Sometimes if you use just your fingers it can feel like your foundation is just sitting on top of the skin. By using a flat top brush to really buff and blend the foundation into your skin your foundation will look and feel more like a second skin!

When I first put makeup on in the morning it looks great, but through the day I can see it start to dull and my face begins to look flat. Any products or suggestions on how to prevent this?

Hello :)

Your blush and bronzer are the first things to start fading, this is because your base aka your foundation is slowing breaking down as the day goes on. You want to create a long wearing base so any products you apply over it will last. You do this by using a foundation primer, long wearing foundations, powder, translucent powder.

Try long wearing foundations like

  • Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear (or their Light version for less coverage)
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Foundation

It might also just be your current products. Some blushes and bronzers just arent that long wearing. You could also go for more long wearing bronzers and blushes like

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer
  • Too Faced 16 Hr Wear Bronzer
  • Rimmel Natural Waterproof Bronzers
  • Kat Von D Everlasting Blush
  • The Balm Instain Powder Blush

Laying powder over creams will dramatically help your blush and bronzer stay on longer too! Apply a light layer of a cream bronzer and blush and top it with a powder bronzer and blush. You can even use lipstick as a cream blush or a base for powder blush!

what foundation (liquid or powder) you suggest to go on a sunny vacation

Something long wearing but light weight! You want something to last all day through the heat, sweat and exploring but still feel light weight and easy :)

Try light weight but long lasting foundations like

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear in the Light formula (more light weight)
  • Garnier BB Cream for Combination/Oily Skin
  • Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 (has somewhat of a whipped texture so it feels light weight on the skin)
  • NARS Sheer Matte
  • Makeup Forever Face & Body (water based foundation unlike many foundations being oil based so it lasts longer and looks more natural)

Since powder is a little easier try some powders like

  • Bare Minerals (original) or Bare Minerals Matte if you have oily skin
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrushed Mineral Powder Foundation
  • Benefit Hello Flawless Powder Foundation
  • Milani Multi Tasker Powder Foundation

Have fun on your vacation babe! :)

laurenmarierose  asked:

I'm going back to school soon and I have no idea what foundation to get. I already have the NARS Creamy Concealer but I don't no what to pair with it. I don't like super heavy foundations, but I like more coverage than the average BB cream. I'm acne prone too. Thanks😊

Some great school friendly, light to medium coverage foundations are

  • Urban Decay Naked
  • Revlon Nearly Naked
  • Rimmel Stay Matte
  • Maybelline Superstay
  • Loreal True Match
  • Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast (good for oily skin)
  • Bare Minerals Matte (their original version is a tad shiny, when used with a kabuki brush you can get awesome coverage)
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin (good coverage!)
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (less heavy than original version, good for oily skin)
  • Dior Skin Forever

All these foundations are light weight, a satin (semi matte) finish so they’re more long wearing and have a medium to build able coverage. All easy to apply and easy to wear foundations, nothing too crazy or cakey! :)

Hey, hey! 'Love your blog a ton; it's a total dream for someone who wants to become a make-up artist (: ANYWAY - really random - but how do you feel about Estee Lauder? Are there any specific products of theirs that you love?

I actually really like Estee Lauder! I think their brand is more aimed towards “mature” women so I think the younger crowd tends to disregard them.

Their Double Wear line has probably the most longest lasting products for oily skin i’ve come across! They make their Double Wear foundation in three versions 1) Double Wear Light - for light coverage 2) Double Wear - medium to full coverage 3) Double Wear Maximum Cover - very full coverage so theres a foundation for everyone! They even make a Double Wear BB Cream, Double Wear Mineral Powder and DW Concealer i’ve been wanting to try out. If you have oily skin or want a foundation that will stay put through everything definitely try the Double Wear line.

Their Illuminating Powders have also been super popular lately!

loenlyhearts  asked:

do you know of any lightweight foundations or bb creams for oily skin? my skins recently gotten better in terms of acne lately but I still want a little bit of coverage w out feeling like I'm wearing full face makeup :)

Thats totally me right now!

Try products like

  • Bare Minerals Matte Mineral Powder Foundation. I love the original version (little more of a sheen/shine) and the matte version is great for oily skin gals. Feels like air on the skin, keeps you shine free and also super gentle on the skin and lets your skin breathe! Love it.
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. Double Wear comes in a light formula, regular formula and maximum cover formula. The “light” version has all the long wearing properties but its in a more light weight formula with a lighter coverage.
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin. The Garnier BB Creams comes in two versions one for normal/dry skin (the original) and one for oily/combination skin. The one for oily/combo skin still has great coverage for a BB Cream but will feel a lot more light weight than a foundation.
  • NARS Sheer Matte. Long wearing, mattifying but super light weight. The formula is very “watery” and liquidy which makes it feel very light weight on the skin. Has a light to medium coverage.

You can make any of your normal foundations into a more light weight version by mixing it with some moisturizer on the back of your hand or by applying it with a damp sponge. A wet sponge sheers out the coverage a bit and keeps it light weight :)

auntiesasa  asked:

Can you recommend a lightweight foundation with medium coverage for summer? I normally use l'oreal true match but I feel it's too heavy in the heat/humidity. Xx

Try foundations like

  • Garnier BB Cream for Combination/Oily Skin
  • Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Spotless Foundation
  • MAC Face & Body (water based foundation)
  • NARS Sheer Matte or Sheer Glow (depending on your skin type)
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (light version is more light weight)

Or try mineral foundations! I’ve been LOVING the Original Bare Minerals Mineral Powder foundation lately. Feels so light weight, can get a good medium coverage and has this beautiful satin sheen that doesnt even look like powder. They have a matte formula for oily skin gals! They also have a new liquid mineral foundation which I have not tried yet :)

aprilis-filia  asked:

Do you have any suggestions for tinted moisturizers for oily/combination skin? It's so hard to find ones that won't make my skin shiny two hours in!

Hi! :)

Naturally most tinted moisturizers add moisture so they will be aimed more for dry to normal skin so finding one for oily skin can definitely be more challenging. You can get a similar look, finish and feel as a tinted moisturizer with different light weight foundations and bb creams. You could also make your own tinted moisturizer by mixing your favorite long wearing foundation and favorite light weight day moisturizer (gel moisturizer tends to work great for oily skin in the day time).

Check out some products like…

  • NARS Sheer Matte
  • Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (light weight version)
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin
  • Makeup Forever Face & Body Foundation (water based instead of oil, super natural looking)
  • Loreal BB Cream (not as oily as others)
  • Bare Minerals Matte (powder foundation but light super light weight)

I’d also suggest dusting a little translucent powder on your t zone to stop any excess shine from appearing through out the day. Translucent powder is colorless and sheer so it won’t ever look cakey or powdery, great for natural makeup days!

Best of luck and Happy Holidays! XO

blonndebitch  asked:

I've used many foundations but I feel like I can't find the perfect one. I have normal to dry skin but as it sits in my face throughout the day it becomes oily. I set it with a powder and setting spray too. I want something that feels light on the skin but has medium coverage and isn't cakey looking, almost like a dewy finish. What foundation would you recommend? My skin color is tan with slight yellow undertones

Try foundations like

  • Urban Decay Naked
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (more long wearing, not like the original version which can feel heavy)
  • NARS Sheer Glow
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin
  • Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation
  • Revlon Nearly Naked

All these foundations are light weight yet still give good coverage to the skin and dry to more of a satin/semi dewy finish. You can always add some highlighter for more dew :)

Most foundations with a slightly dewy finish won’t last all day and you will get oily on later in the day. I’d recommend investing in a great primer like Hourglass Mineral Veil and carry around a pressed translucent powder to touch up through out the day. Translucent powders help mattify the skin without looking cakey. I’d recommend just touching up your T Zone and not all over the face to keep a little bit of glow! Try powders like Makeup Forever HD Pressed Powder or Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent.

Another option is using a really long wearing, matte foundation and mixing it with some moisturizer on the back of your hand to sheer it out a bit and give it more of a natural finish. Even using a damp beauty blender sponge to apply a matte, long wearing foundation will make it look more natural by sheering out the coverage and take away a little of the matte finish. This way you can still get the benefits of having a long wear foundation without a matte or cakey finish.

krumping  asked:

Can you recommend me some lightweight foundations for combination skin? I really want to buy the Nars sheer glow foundation but I heard it isn't very long lasting, ugh!! I have a neutral undertone and very fair skin, usually everything for fair skin has a pink undertone :(

Try foundations like

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (the original formula is pretty light weight too)
  • Dior Skin Forever Flawless Perfection Wear (all time fav for combo skin, long wearing yet gives the skin a slight glow)
  • Loreal True Match
  • Urban Decay Naked
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin

All these are super light weight on the skin with a good medium coverage. They arent matte but they arent super glowy either, great for combination skin :)

a-peterson  asked:

Best light coverage foundation/bob cream for oily/combination skin?

Try products like

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light $37  (more light weight version of the original)
  • Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream $39
  • NARS Sheer Matte $42
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear All Day Glow BB Cream $38 (slight glow, not matte)
  • Garnier BB Cream for Combination/Oily Skin $13 (slight glow, not matte)
  • Rimmel Stay Matte BB Cream $7

mostly-true  asked:

Hey! Do you know any high-end tinted moisturizers for oily skin? Thanks :)

Try some products like

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Glow All Day BB Cream (new Double Wear BB Cream, slightly dewy but still long lasting) or Double Wear Light (light weight version of Double Wear)
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer
  • Makeup Forever Face & Body
  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
  • Smashbox BB Cream

All these are light weight, more on the moisturizing side yet not too dewy and moisturizing that they’ll slide off within a few hours :)
