Ok this may be the cheesiest prompt ever but listen..
Sherlock is a wedding planner. He’s THE wedding planner. Everyone knows him, everyone wants him. He’s able to cater to even the most peculiar whims his clients may have. But he’s a nightmare to work with, of course. He can predict exactly how long a marriage’s gonna last and is extremely picky about the projects he takes on.
So when unassuming, plain, “do we really have to? We don’t need a freaking fairy godmother following us around!” John Watson reluctantly limps his way in 221b, with his more than enthusiastic fiancé, “don’t be absurd, John, of course we do, since you clearly can’t distinguish lilac from purple!” Mary Morstan, it’s clear as day the ill-assorted couple is doomed from the beginning. But instead of dissmissing them on the spot, he promptly decides that the project is definitely worth working on…
Pity that his number one rule is do not get involved with the groom!
But that’s alright because artiste extraordinaire “But what do you mean ‘any variety of Peruvian Lilies will do’? I don’t understand, they’re all thoroughly different from each other! ” and fed up army doctor “listen here cheekbones, I don’t give a monkey’s if she walks down the aisle with a bouquet of portoguese artichokes alright, I’m bloody knackered, I just want to.. is that double chocolate fudge cake?” drive each other completely up the wall.. right?
Summary: The five stages of grief include denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
Your eyes flutter open and as your brains begin to connect the dots, a giant grin grows on your face. You bounce upwards, immediately drawing back the blue curtains of your window and instantly a spear of sunshine blinds your eyes.
Opening the latch, you’re hit with a breath of fresh air and the scent of fresh soil. You can hear the buzzing of honeybees and chirping chickadees from their nests. You smile at the blooming daisies in your planter box, fresh dew rolling off the leaves. Dandelions litter your lush, green lawn and you wonder why your father has it so unkept. But none the less, you feel re-energized for a new day.
Summary: You recently moved to a new city because your dad got a promotion and that meant you had to transfer schools. Again. You don’t expect to nor do you want to make friends because you’re expecting to move again soon. You were used to it anyway.
“My ex hangs out here alot so let’s hang out here too.”
“What if she’s not here?”
“She probably will be, we came here almost everyday when we were going out.”
“Jungkook,” you say as you walk into a dessert place, “why did you and” you pause when you realize you don’t know her name
“Yeah. Uh. Why did you and Yoongi break up?
“She cheated on me.” he says it bluntly.
“So that’s why you’re trying to make her jealous”
“Y/N, what do you want to eat?” he asks while changing the subject.
‘I won’t pry if he’s not comfortable’
“I want the double chocolate fudge cake”
“Can you find seats? I’ll pay.”
It wasn’t too hard finding a seat but this place was definitely popular, people were buzzing in and out. There were so many other students just hanging out here with their friends.
When Jungkook sits down with the cakes you start drooling. He had gotten a strawberry shortcake and tiramisu crepe cake. They all looked so delicious and grab your fork, ready to dig in but stop and turn red when you see Jungkook looking at you and smiling.
“It’s okay Y/N. Go ahead. I’ve never seen someone so excited to eat cake so I find it a little funny.”
When you look down at the table in embarrassment he adds, “It’s cute so don’t think it’s a bad thing.”
You’re too embarrassed to eat first so you just sit there and wait till Jungkook eats first. Excitement bubbles inside you when you see Jungkook scoop up a little bite. You hide a little smile and look up to admire the cakes, however, you see some cake right in front of your nose.
“Here Y/N, you take the first bite. Hurry though, my arm is getting tired.”
Although you were shocked, you never turn down food so you quickly ate the cake off the fork. While doing so, you somehow managed to get cream on the tip of your nose. You grab a tissue and before the tissue can reach your nose Jungkook had already wiped off the cream.
“Hahaha Y/N are you really that excited? How cute.”
You blush and glare at him but you still ate the cakes with the same excitement.
After eating cake you felt even worse. You were so busy eating cake that Jungkook barely ate any. He mostly just watched you eat in amazement.
“Don’t worry about it Y/N. Watching you eat filled me up.” He chuckles and pats his belly.
“I promise I’ll pay you ba-” you spot a candy store and your body naturally moves towards it.
Jungkook doesn’t say anything and just follows you in.
“Hi, how can I help you?” a handsome man asks.
“Hm? Oh. I’m just looking.” you say as you look at the different types of candy.
“Would you like to customize your own candy?”
“You make customized candy here?!”
“Yes, would you like to do that?”
“Ye-,” You look at Jungkook to see if it’s okay with him and he nods his head. “Yeah, I would like to do that.”
Both you and Jungkook made your own designs but he refused to show you what he made.
When it was done being made, you pop some of the rainbow design candy in your mouth. You even share with Jungkook. He just looks at you when you try to feed it to him.
“Are you really not going to show me Jungkook? You saw mine.”
“I wanted it to be a surprise,” he takes your hand and puts the little baggie in your hand. “We’re dating now so we have to make it look like we’re dating.”
You look at the bag and see rainbow hearts. Your heart skips a beat and you hug Jungkook.
“Yes! More candy for me and it’s so cute!!”
“You know Y/N, you remind me of a dog.” He says with a smirk.
“What?!” You bark back.
“Like a pit bull. You look scary but you’re actually really cute and sweet.”
With nothing to say, you just eat more candy and keep walking; leaving Jungkook.
He jogs behind you and hugs you.
“I think you and I get along really well Y/N. This will be fun.”
You lightly push Jungkook off of you but you didn’t really hate his sudden hug.
“Yah Jungkook. Don’t forget this is fake okay?”
“Yeah yeah. I know,” He says with a smile “Let’s go to-” He suddenly pauses and stares behind you.
“Jungkook? What’s wrong?” You turn around to see what he was staring at.
It was Yoona and her new boyfriend.
“Jungkook,” you wave your hand in front of him. “You said you didn’t like her anymore.”
“I know Y/N but I don’t like seeing her kiss another guy anyway.”
“If we’re going to do this fake dating thing you have to get over her.”
He peeks at Yoona and her new boyfriend but you grab his face and kiss him. It was a quick one but Jungkook was staring behind you again so you turn around.
Yoona was right behind you. She has long wavy hair, pink lips, and big eyes.
“Jungkook, what are you doing here? I thought you were sick of coming here.” Her voice is really soft and angel like.
“Yoona, hi I was here with my,” you pulls you beside him, “girlfriend, Y/N. She just moved in around here so I thought I’d show her around.” His voice was slightly shaky.
She stretches out her hand, “Nice to meet you Y/N. I’m Yoona.”
You take her hand and shake it. Then her boyfriend comes from inside a store. He walks up next to Jungkook and glares at him before looking at you. He looks you up and down and you see the faintest nod.
‘Did he just nod in approval?’
“Babe, who’s this?”
“Oh you’re back. You already know Jungkook, this is Y/N, Jungkook’s girlfriend. Y/N this is my boyfriend ”
“Oh… I see. She’s pretty.” You blush with he says that. No one has ever blatantly said that to you. “Anyway, it’s almost time for the movie, so we’ll leave first.” Yoona gives a small wave and they leave.
Jungkook looks angry. His fists were clenched.
“That’s the guy she cheated in me with.”
It was weird that he wasn’t really bothered when he them together in the cafeteria but maybe it’s because he saw them kiss he got upset.
“No point moping over it. I mean, isn’t that why I’m here?”
“Yeah. Let’s go. I’ll walk you home.” Jungkook just walks away, his fists clenched.
During the walk home he doesn’t really say anything.
'I guess it’s hard to get over someone if they cheated on you.’
You’ve never dated anyone for real because you were constantly moving around. There was no point in it because nothing would develop and long distance relationships are difficult to maintain.
As soon as you reach your house the front door flies open and your mom is standing there with a bright smile.
“Sweetie! Is that a new friend? Invite him in!”
Before you can even say no, Jungkook is pulled into your house.
Once your mom does something there’s no stopping her. Jungkook is probably going to have to stay for dinner too.
“Y/N bring him to your room and I’ll bring snacks.”
Jungkook follows you up the stairs and into your room.
“Jungkook, you really don’t have to stay. I’ll make up an excuse like your mom is sick or-.”
“Nah. Don’t worry about it. I’m your boyfriend I have to meet your parents at some point right?” He puts his bag down as he laughs.
“Sorry. It’s just I’ve never brought any friends home with me.”
“Never? How could you never?”
“I moved a lot because of my dad’s job. But she says we’re probably going to stay here for a while. I don’t know though.”
“In that case I can come over anytime. Just give me a call.”
“We never exchanged numbers”
Just as you exchanged numbers your mom knocked on the door and came in with tea and cake.
“Enjoy!” Your mom says with one last peek at Jungkook.
“Well since I’m here Y/N, let’s just do homework.”
“Uh. Sure if you want to.” You say as you reach for your bag.
Jungkook stares at the textbook for 10 minutes as if if he stared long enough answers would magically appear.
“Do you need help Jungkook?” You finished the homework already. It was stuff you already learned so it was like review.
“You finished!? How? I see you sleeping in class too!” He loudly says as you sit next to him.
“I sleep because I already know this stuff. The last school I went to taught things a little faster.” You explain.
“Wow. I’m so lucky. My girlfriend is a genius.”
Him saying girlfriend so nonchalantly made you feel kinda weird. It almost made you wish it was real.
“Finally all done, thanks for your help Y/N. If it weren’t for your help I don’t know what I would have done.”
“Jungkook! Y/N! Come down for dinner!” Jungkook immediately jumps up and runs downstairs with you following behind.
“Wow. Everything looks so good! Thank you for the food” Jungkook is scarring everything down and you slowly eat. You can’t but laugh when you see him eat.
It’s like there’s a bubbly feeling whenever you see him happy or excited.
After dinner, Jungkook goes back to your room to get his stuff and gets ready to leave. You watch him leave and the excitement of having a friend over dies out. It was fun having someone over. But was it because it was Jungkook or because you finally made a friend?
You go to sleep that night thinking about that question.
The next morning you woke up a little late so you don’t eat breakfast at home but you do stop by a little café and buy a cake to snack on. When you go to school you see Mina but she was with her friends and she looked really happy.
'Hopefully it’s because the trio stopped bothering her’
As you’re thinking that you nearly stumble over because someone suddenly bumped into you. But that wasn’t the problem, the problem was that the cake had fallen and now smashed.
“Yah! Watch where you’re going!” It was the person who bumped into you that said that. And coincidently Hyori.
She turns around to see you glaring at her. She gasps and finally realizes what she had done.
“Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry.” She and her friends were looking down at the ground. This began to gather attention. People started murmuring things like 'is there going to be a fight?’ 'That’s the new girl’ 'They’re fighting over cake?’
You push your hair behind your ears but Hyori seemed to have thought you were going to punch her and flinched.
You just turn around and before you can take your first step Jungkook comes out of no where.
“Y/N! What happened?”
You quickly explain that your cake was ruined while you walk to class with him.
To your surprise he laughs, “You’re so cute Y/N! You ate so much cake yesterday and you already want more? It’s okay. I’ll buy you more after school okay?” He says and then lightly pinches your cheeks.
He pulls you into class and everyone is still staring. They probably heard what happened outside.
The classes went by like every other class. Boring and tiring. Lunch was the only highlight. Jungkook was really funny, the boyfriend vibe from him was strong. You kept feeling that bubbly feeling.
“Jungkook I have a question.”
“When I talk to you I get this bubbly feeling. Why?”
“Ohhh you like me!” He pretends to be shy by covering his face and shyly slapping your arm. “Haha. I’m kidding. You’re just excited to have an amazing boyfriend such as myself.” He says that as he keeps eating. But you keep looking at him
'Do I like him?’ You think that to yourself before eating.
The rest of the school day is boring. But it was exciting because Jungkook said he would be buying you cake again.
You go to a new cafe that opened today and it was flooded. All the seats were filled and people were pushing back and forth. Jungkook grabs your hand and pulls you by his side so you wouldn’t get carried away.
“How about we come here next time Y/N, there’s too many people here.” Jungkook pulls you outside because you were stuck between two big guys.
When you step out, Yoona and her boyfriend was just about to go in. Her boyfriend does a once over at you and again, that nod.
Yoona smiles at the two of you and then walks into the store. Jungkook looked angry and this time you could feel it cause he was still holding your hand.
“Jungkook, don’t be upset. I’m here. We just need to do something that make her jealous. We need a plan.” You try to reassure him.
A few seconds later, Yoona and her boyfriend come out too.
“Haha I see why you guys came out with nothing. There’s way too many people in there.” Yoona looks at Jungkook’s hand that’s holding onto yours. “You guys have only been dating for two days and you’re already so in love.” Her voice seemed happy for you but the face she made while she said that wasn’t.
“Let’s go on a double date.” This time her boyfriend says that.
In the end you go along. The restaurant is a Chinese restaurant and it seemed like Yoona and Jungkook had come here alot cause the waiter recognized them but didn’t say anything when he noticed that they weren’t with each other this time.
“I’m going to go to the restroom to wash my hands” You say as you get up.
“Oh! Me too. I’ll go with you Y/N.” Yoona walks next to you and you two go to the restroom together.
After flinging the water off your hands Yoona asks you, “Is Jungkook doing this to make me jealous?”
“What? No.” You say that a little too fast for it to be believable.
“It’s okay Y/N, I knew as soon as I saw you two together. Your not Jungkook’s type.” She says it so innocently.
And that’s when you said something you’ve never said before. “No. I’ve fallen for Jungkook.”
Her eyes widen and dampen. “Really? But does Jungkook feel the same way? What if I went back to him. Who do you think be would choose?” She says that and walks out, leaving you standing there with your mouth open.
When you go back to the table, the food is all there and Jungkook is already diving in. Yoona is being fed by her boyfriend and you awkwardly sit next to Jungkook.
There wasn’t much to talk about during this double date. You could feel her boyfriend’s eyes crawling all over you.
“Jungkook I think I have to go.” You felt too uncomfortable with being checked out every 5 seconds and Yoona’s words kept repeating in your head.
“What’s wrong Y/N? You don’t like the food? Do you want cake?” He grabs your arm and looks at you with concerned eyes.
“No. I just don’t feel well.” You pull your arm away and walk towards the door.
You breathe the fresh air and sigh.
'Do I seriously like Jungkook?’
Jungkook comes up from behind and loops his arm in yours.
“Let’s go get cake. That’s why you’re not happy right? You’re such a cake monster.” He taps your nose and pulls you along.
“Jungkook, I th-,” You think about whether you should tell him or not. “Nevermind.”
“Let’s go to this one. Their chocolate cakes are delicious.” He points to a little shop.
You decide to have it to go so you can just go home.
“I’ll walk you home. Actually, we can just do homework again.”
You just nod and keep walking. Your mom isn’t home so she probably went out grocery shopping. You walk to your room and set everything down.
The cake definitely put you in a better mood and that’s when you decide to tell him your feelings.
“Jungkook. I have something to tell you.” He half pays attention to you
“To be honest, I think I like-” His phone suddenly buzzes and he looks down to read the text.
“Jungkook I like-” You’re interrupted again.
“I have to go. Yoona says her boyfriend broke up with her.” He runs out your room.
“Wait Jungkook!” You shout as he runs out but he was already gone.
“I like you, you idiot…” Tears roll down your cheeks and say painfully say that.
'Yoona was right. I should never have agreed to this stupid thing’
You don’t eat dinner that night and you just lie in bed until you fall asleep.
'Was it really this painful liking someone?’
Sorry it took me so long to write part 2. But I hope you guys enjoy it! I’ll try to get part 3 out very soon. Feel free to message me or ask me anything!
FIC SUMMARY: OC decides to give the last slice of cake to her boss but what happens when he offers her a ride back home?
AUTHORS NOTES/WARNINGS: I took some time to write this one shot out after having a brief anxiety filled moment. This was really soothing. I have two more office party one shots I want to get done. I missed you guys and I hope you’re doing well. Tell me what you think of this one shot! :)
Today was Waluigi’s sixteenth birthday, so I think it’s high time that I share this painting I put together a year ago for his fifteenth. This was done for the wrap-around cover for the Quinceañera of Waluigi coloring-and-activity zine organized by @losthiskeysman.
Um…Basically, Waluigi’s birthday party is the best thing I’ve ever been commissioned to paint.
I spent a lot of time figuring out the right flavor for Waluigi’s birthday cake before I settled on yellow cake, made with buttermilk. I probably should have given it some black licorice trim. He’s definitely a black licorice guy. Ah, well~
This, of course, also led me to figure out the preferred cake-types of the other characters. Here’s what I decided on*.
Mario - White cake with rainbow sprinkles baked in.
Luigi - White cake, white frosting.
Peach - Angel’s food cake topped with peach compote, served with giant scoops of mango and strawberry ice cream.
Bowser - German chocolate, with extra coconut.
Wario - Double-fudge devil’s food.
Daisy - Applesauce spice cake, with cream cheese frosting.
Donkey Kong - Pineapple upside-down cake. Banana split sundae on the side.
Diddy Kong - Banana pudding cake. He throws it everywhere.
Toad and Toadette - Any flavor, but it has to be a cupcake.
For your milestone post (congrats by the way!): 3. [I] trusted [you]
A/N: I know you were probably going for angst, but here’s some fluff instead. To all the others who have sent me prompts, I see them! I’m kinda waiting to be inspired but eventually I will get to them. A special thank you to foundmyhome because I could not have written this without you.
Emma sat curled up on the couch, eyes focusing on the notebook that laid in her lap. He walked in to hear the sound of her pen thrumming against the spirals to the faint beat of the radio. “When’s your birthday?” she asked, looking up from her task. .
“Uh, where is this coming from?”
“Henry’s birthday is coming up in a few months and I realized I don’t know when yours is.”
“Uh,” he scratched the spot behind his ear in thought. Dates and voices have faded with time, and such a day had lost its importance. But somewhere in the far crevices of his mind he can hear his mother’s voice telling him that it was time to celebrate his day. “September? Late September…” It was on the tip of his tongue, ebbing its way out of years passed. “The 23rd, I believe.”
“That’s this month! Were you not gonna tell me?”
“Not particularly. It’s not something I really like to celebrate.” He let his hand dance down her side, pressing into the red leather until he found the curve of her waist, and pulled her into him. She looked up at him from under her lashes, a battle waging on whatever question he could see in her eyes.
“Do you know how old you’ll be?” she whispered, stroking her hand through his hair. He understood the hesitancy in her question now, afraid such a reflection might bring up past demons as he struggled to remember how far back his weathered years actually extended. But it didn’t. It only reminded him that what he thought was that eternal pain of all his losses has now been replaced by light. Her light. Her love. And finally she was his. So as he thought back, trying to create a timeline he long lost count of, he couldn’t help but be distracted by her emerald eyes
Killian bit his lower lip in thought. “Probably nearing 400. Why, love? Are you thinking of trading me in for the monkey?” Her muscles relaxed into him, and her smile appeared, a manifestation of the siren song that radiated from her and onto him; everything she did was like a siren to him, a special tune that consumed him entirely.
“Oh, how did you know? I thought for sure I had hidden that diary entry away,” she teased, unable to contain her giggles before quickly brushing her lips across his. “I love you.”
Glancing up from her olive green book bag, Jae’s russet hued eyes landed on her classmate Rachel sitting across from her at the wooden table.
“Yeah, I’m sure. The bus doesn’t take long,” Jae declined, not wanting Rachel to drive way across town just to drop her off at her house. She never had a problem with taking public transportation before and this time was no different. Her car was currently in the shop because of something regarding her starter. She wasn’t really listening to what the mechanic was saying when she was at the auto shop this morning; the only thing she was certain about was the fact she’s going to be carless for the next couple of days until the problem was fixed.
Stuffing her spiral-bind notebook into her already cluttered bag, a low sigh expelled from her slightly agape mouth. She and Rachel arrived at the local Starbucks a little over three hours ago to work on a project for their Principles of Marketing class where they completely indulged themselves into their work. As the hands on the analog clock neared 11 o’ clock, Jae realized just how much time they lost in their assignment. She hadn’t planned on staying out so late but they were able to get a big portion of their work done so she couldn’t complain too much.
It was the travel across town that she was concerned about.
It was no secret that L.A. wasn’t the safest city to be in and she didn’t want to end up on the news as another young girl that’s gone missing.
Grabbing her pens and highlighters that were spread across the table defaced with faint scratches across the surface, Jae rose from her seat allowing her eyes to scan the room. There were a few other bodies inhabiting the cozy coffeehouse and upon realizing Starbucks would be closing soon, they began wrapping up their night as well. Stuffing her items in the small compartment on the front of her book bag, Jae’s eyes landed on a guy sitting at a table near the window, looking to be having an in-depth conversation with the other male sitting across from him. His cocoa-toned skin glowed under the light fixture hanging above his table as a sly grin stretched across his face exposing his immaculate smile.
As if he felt her eyes on him, he turned his head to look directly in her direction.
The second his nut brown colored eyes connected with hers, an eerie chill ruptured through her veins. There was something strangely familiar about him but she couldn’t figure out exactly what it was. She knew she seen him somewhere before though.
A hand landing on her shoulder made her jump slightly, breaking her away from the trance she was in.
“H-huh?” Jae stammered, whipping her head around to face her classmate with wide eyes.
With squinted eyes, Rachel shook her head at Jae’s strange behavior. “I said I’m going to head out now. I have an early shift at Sugarland tomorrow and Lord knows I don’t want to go,” she said with a roll of her hazel eyes, referring to the pastry shop she worked at part time but Jae wasn’t listening.
“Oh, okay…” Jae replied distractedly with an imperceptible nod of her head. Taking a quick glance over her shoulder directly at the table, she saw the guy was back engrossed into his conversation. “Okay, I’ll see you Monday,” she mumbled finally realizing what Rachel said while grabbing what was left of her Vanilla Bean Frappuccino and the napkin her double chocolate fudge cake was sitting on. As they trailed toward the door, Jae dumped her trash in the garbage while saying, “Don’t forget to finish your notes for chapter twelve.”
“I’ll try not to,” Rachel stated in a joking manner, pulling Jae into a quick side hug. “Text me when you get home.” After promising to let each other know of their safe travels, they both exited the coffeehouse heading in different directions down the Los Angeles streets.
The warm late night air brushed against Jae’s bronzed skin, whipping through her wild kinky hair. The salmon colored Nike Roshe running shoes covering her feet repeatedly met the pavement during her stroll down the sidewalk. With her hands tucked in the pockets of her Nike windbreaker, she guided her body around the pedestrians standing in her way with an eager swiftness. Her rush to get home was very evident in her quick pace.
A large sum of people were just beginning to start their night and Jae was doing the exact opposite. She was heading home to prepare for tomorrow. She ignored the homeless people begging for change and the random dudes shooting out cat-calls to catch her attention. She hated when she had to travel on this side of town. If it wasn’t for school, she normally avoided downtown L.A. at all cost. The loiterers and streetwalkers along with the excessive amount of cars crowding the streets drove her crazy. Her patience level was extremely too low to deal with the congested city too often.
Reaching the corner to take her normal route down the cobblestoned path in the alley, a low breath of relief escaped her mouth. She normally took this path whenever she was on her way home from school because she never drove her car when she had class. Los Angeles traffic in the day time was a death wish. After getting trapped on an off-ramp for over an hour the first time she called herself driving to school, public transportation became her own personal chauffeur and she discovered this alley shortly after. Entering the alley, she grabbed her iPod out of the side pocket of her black and peach windbreaker and plugged the headphones into her ears allowing the riveting sound of her current obsession to flow into her ears.
It won’t be in vain… to swallow all your pain…
Jae mouthed along to the words; her eyes planted on the ground watching her shoes guide her to other end of the alley. Graffiti covered the crimson shaded brick walls of the narrow area and a pungent scent leaked from the dumpsters lined against the walls mixing with the smell of the city. The passageway was as long as two blocks and it lead her directly to the bus stop allowing her to avoid the usually crowded streets.
The story you birth will be ageless… Just learn to love pain and be patient…
With all of her focus on Abel Tesfaye crooning the lyrics to Devil May Cry, Jae was unaware of the other individual entering the alley from the opposite end.
Dressed in dark clothing, his lengthy physique trotted in her direction with a confident stride. The sound of his shoes thudding against the gravel grew louder as he drew closer to Jae, capturing her attention.
Looking up from the screen of her iPod, Jae moved closer to the wall assuming he was using the pathway for the same reason as her until his gruff voice overpowered the softness of The Weeknd’s causing her stomach to churn.
Upon hearing her name, Jae came to a slow halt in her steps squinting her eyes to steady her vision in the dark; her heart thudding violently in her chest. The dimly lit alley made it hard for her to make out his face but once he stepped under the lone light fixture planted on the wall, she caught view of him. Her eyes roamed over the dirty blonde hair resting neatly atop his head and the short stubbles of hair around the cheeks and chin area on his tanned face. The longer she stared at him, the more her mind struggled with registering his unfamiliar features.
She never seen this man a day in her life but he obviously knew her.
The mere utterance of her name immediately sent red flags off in her head, triggering her fight or flight mechanism to kick in. As a natural instinct, Jae’s feet guided her body back in the opposite direction with her eyes never leaving his.
“H-how do you know my name?” She stuttered, fumbling over her feet as he continued advancing toward her.
“That’s a long story,” he chuckled, tucking his hands in the pockets of his fitted pants. He stood in the middle of the walkway, not giving Jae any room to move past him if she decided to.
This was one of those moments in life Jae had been dreading. Her thoughts had a mind of their own, conjuring up the worst possible outcome for her current situation. Things she wouldn’t normally think of clouded her mental; the thoughts alone making the muscle in her chest pump five times faster.
She was so focused on the guy in front of her, she didn’t realize there was someone sneaking up behind her.
And when her back crashed into something firm, she could have died on impact. Within seconds, a pair of hands covered her mouth, muffling the scream rumbling in her throat and restraining her flailing arms to stop her violent swings.
“Calm down and don’t scream, aight?” the person holding her spoke into her ear, sending chills down her spine.
Nodding against his hand in hopes that he would let her go, Jae relaxed in his hold before quickly scrambling away from him when he released her. With her back against the brick wall, she looked toward him and her eyes widen once she realized who he was.
It was the guy from Starbucks.
Her head was spinning in confusion. She didn’t know what was going on and she wasn’t willing to wait to find out.
Reaching into the back pocket of her jeans, she grabbed her phone. “Step any closer and I will call the police,” she threatened, entering her four digit security code on her phone to unlock it.
Amused chuckles escaped the mouth of the blonde haired guy.
“That won’t be necessary, Jae,” he tried to reason. “Why don’t you—“
“How do you know me?”
“I already told you it’s a long story,” he laughed once again. “Now, we’re going to go for a ride—“
“No the hell we’re not!” She shouted, her voice wavering with each word. Her hand holding onto her book bag shook as she tightened her grip on the handle. She looked between the both of them as they stood in front of her, not giving her any personal space or a gap big enough for her to squeeze by to escape. She was trapped in an alley with two men that she didn’t know. Fear welled up inside of her while she tried to keep her composure and talk herself out of this. “Just leave me alone, please… I’m just trying to go home and-and—“
Before she could finish her statement, the brown skin guy pulled out his gun, aiming it in her face. Caught off guard, her bag slipped from her hand and the sound of cars honking their horns drowned out the scream that erupted from the base of her throat. Her incoherent pleads to be left alone went over his head while he ignored them, placing his finger on the trigger.
“Don’t nobody wanna hear all that shit,” he grumbled with an annoyed expression covering his face. Nodding toward her bag sitting on the concrete he motioned for her to pick it up. “Grab ya bag and let’s go,” he said with his gun still pointed in her face.
Blinking away the moisture obstructing her view, Jae continued to try her luck. “Ple—“
“I ain’t gon’ tell you again.”
Sinking her teeth into her lower lip to prevent her tears from falling. Jae slowly reached down to grab her bag before walking stiffly behind the blonde guy while the other one held his gun to back of her head.
There was no way she was going to get out of this.
A large steel gate held the distorted white and black sign as their car passed through once the bars parted open. Jae’s eyes were planted out of the window taking in her surroundings while the blonde haired guy drove up the dirt path toward a large building. His name was Julius. She learned his name when he took her phone and her book bag away from her before they got into the car. All of her plans to discreetly text someone for help via her cellphone went out the window the moment he placed all of her belongings in the trunk of the car.
Julius parked inside of the garage where six other cars were located and got out once he shut the car off. Sitting back against the seat, Jae waited for someone to open her door because they enabled the child lock to prevent her from hopping out while they were driving. The only way she knew that is because she indeed tried to get out of the car when they pulled up at a red light only to find out she was locked in. Everything she planned to do immediately got shut down due to them being prepared beforehand.
Her head snapped toward the door when it was pulled opened and she didn’t know whether to stay planted in her seat or not.
It didn’t take long before she received an answer for her dilemma.
“Get out the car,” the other guy demanded in a frustrated tone when she didn’t move.
Swallowing the lump that felt like it was permanently lodged in her throat, she turned on the leather seat and planted her feet onto the smooth pavement of the garage floor, climbing out of the car. She looked around trying to get an idea of where she was. There were no signs with a name or anything that could give her a tiny clue of where they had taken her. There were only cars, concrete pillars and an elevator located directly across from them.
There were no visible exits aside from the automated gate that was already locked shut. For the third time tonight she was trapped and she couldn’t hide the fact she was scared any longer.
When the car door slammed closed, she almost jumped out of her skin.
“Relax. We’re not going to hurt you,” Julius told her with a reassuring smile.
With a blank expression covering her face, she looked away from him. She didn’t know what to believe at this point but the only thing she could do was take his words for truth and hope they didn’t hurt her.
They got onto the elevator, taking it to the third-floor.
It was silent as they walked down the hall, passing up a few vacant rooms, until they ended up in front of two large doors. Julius entered a security code giving them access into what looked like a conference room. A long mahogany toned table sat in the middle of the floor with about twelve chairs stationed around it. There was only one person occupying the room. A lighter toned male with a plethora of tattoos decorating his arms. He was sitting at the head of the table with his face buried into his phone. He was so engrossed into whatever was happening on his phone, he didn’t even look up when the door opened.
“Hey Jahmir, watch her for a second. We waiting on Jessi to finish up a phone call,” Julius said giving Jae a gentle push toward the many seats at the table.
The Jahmir guy nodded without offering a verbal response, keeping all of his attention on his phone while the other two left out of the room. The door automatically closing behind them.
As soon as they left, an uncomfortable silence settled in the air. Jae had taken a seat at the opposite end of the table, as far away from Jahmir that she could possibly get. Her eyes scanned over the room but she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary except a camera perched in the right hand corner facing the table. There was a 60” flat screen TV hanging on the wall and a random file cabinet on the adjacent wall, but other than that the room was basically empty. She was steadily coming up fruitless in her search for answers.
Looking across the table, she jumped slightly when she made eye contact with Jahmir.
He was watching her the whole time.
“What you so jumpy for?” he asked in amusement.
“I’m not jumpy,” she answered a little too quickly, tucking a loose piece of her coily hair behind her ear to avoid looking at him.
She heard him chuckle to himself and caught a glimpse of his tongue gliding across his plump lips when she took a quick glance at him. “Yeah, alright…” he mumbled, indicating that he didn’t believe her.
An ear-ringing silence filled the room before she spoke up.
“Are they going to kill me?” Jae asked quietly
It took him awhile to answer. “Nah…” he paused, rubbing the short hairs on his chin. “They would’ve did it by now if they was.”
Her eyebrows knitted together out of confusion. Instead of asking him what he meant by that, she rose from her seat and slowly began walking around the room. She had no real reason for doing so besides being nosey and mentally hoping to come across something. Anything that’ll get her out of her situation.
“Why am I here?” She asked, looking back at Jahmir and for the first time, he had his phone tucked away giving her his undivided attention. But even still, he ignored her and watched her snoop around the room.
“Ar—“ The door flying open cut Jae’s question short.
In walked a woman dressed in all black. Her black flare legged pants swaying with each step she took. Not too far behind her, the two guys that brought Jae in casually strolled into the room.
The door closing was almost the lady’s cue to talk. “Hello Jae, how are you?” A smile stretched across her scarlet painted lips and her heels tapped against the floor as she approached the table.
“Who the hell are you?” Jae finally snapped. Somehow all of these people knew her name but she didn’t have the slightest idea of who they were. It was beginning to annoy her. She was ‘out of the loop’ in sense and it made her feel uneasy.
“I’m Jessi,” she replied unfazed by Jae’s tone. “Please, have a seat so we can talk.”
Looking around the room, she noticed the guys were still standing and didn’t feel comfortable enough to sit down with them standing over her. And if she had to be honest, the nonchalant expressions on their faces were borderline intimidating because she couldn’t tell what they were thinking. “I rather stand up,” she mumbled stubbornly.
“Very well,” Jessi shrugged, taking her seat on the other side of the table. She tossed her hair over her shoulders while leaning back in the cushioned chair. With a raised eyebrow she asked, “I’m sure you’re wondering why you’re here? Correct?”
Jae’s head barely nodded as she pursed her lips. She wasn’t standing there for her health, what kind of question was that? The real questions were, what was the point of this and Jae’s purpose for being here? Their dramatic approach and Jessi’s beat around the bush antics made Jae wonder just what she had ended up in. This might have been some sort of plan to force her into human trafficking or some strange kidnapping for money. This could have been anything and that’s what frightened her the most. She didn’t know what to expect and the longer Jessi waited to speak the more Jae’s nerves began to build up at the thought of the endless amount of directions this conversation could go.
“Boys, sit down so we can give her a proper welcome into the fraternity!” Jessi snapped at the three guys having a conversation near the door pulling Jae out of her head.
Stumped by her statement, Jae looked at Jessi puzzled. What the hell was she talking about? “Fraternity? What fraternity? My colleg—“
A round of laughter filled the room and Jessi smiled at Jae’s slight ignorance. “Not that kind of fraternity… we’re welcoming you into our fraternity.”
“…and that is…?” Jae swallowed with her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Darting her eyes over toward the men, she frowned at the slight smirks covering their faces before focusing back on Jessi. “W-what do you do?” She asked hesitantly. She wasn’t entirely sure if she really wanted to know the answer to that question.
With a cunning smile tugging at her full lips, Jessi rose from her seated position, standing eye for eye with Jae from across the table.
It was an unnecessary, dramatic pause before Jessi decided to speak, adding on to the racing of Jae’s heartbeat.
“We’re assassins and you have been chosen to join our group.”
