Possible references to ‘The Ones Who Walk away From the Omelas’ in the BTS ‘Spring Day’ teaser

Since I know a big part of you have never read ‘The Ones Who Walk away From the Omelas’ (by Ursula K. Le Guin), I wrote a small summary of things I noticed were quite directly referencing the book. All quotations are from TOWWAFTO (that’s a mouthful).

With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to the city Omelas, bright-towered by the sea. The ringing of the boats in harbor sparkled with flags. […] I incline to think that people from towns up and down the coast have been coming to to Omelas during the last days before the Festival on very fast little trains and double-decked trams, and that the trains station of Omelas is actually the handsomest building in town, though plainer than the magnificent Farmers’ Market.”

Setting: a beautiful town by the sea. A summer festival that people come to attend from other towns.

EDH/Commander FMN Report: 2/17/2017

Idk if i should label this with the date of the FMN or the day I write this?

Ok so Last night at FMN while everyone else is playing Standard (I know i know i miss it too sometimes) me and a group of players play EDH. So last night was my first night testing my new mono red Double Mastery Deck. Jaya is the commander but she is used as a support card and acts as a dicard outlet if i need one or as removal so i can focus less slots of my deck to those types of cards.

The deck is basically two different decks in one, It is a scrap mastery deck that wins by casting scrap mastery with a GY full of artifacts and wins with those, But it is also a Mizzix mastery deck that wins by casting Mizzix Mastery with a GY full of wheels and copy spells and using Molten Pysche with metalCraft to kill everyone.

The reason I am using these two very different strats is because they both reach their goal the same way. Using wheels and rumage spells to dig into my deck to find certain cards and fill my GY at the same time with the cards that both mastery spells need in there.

So we played 5 games in total and Jaya was in 4 of those games and she ended up winning 3 of her games! She won using 3 different paths too!

Game one: Won using Mizzix mastery

Game two: Won using lucking by just drawing nothing but lands and 4 combo cards in a row in the start of the game, hit infinite mana and untapping

Game three: Lost to  Brion Stoutarmwith infect throwing a giant hydra at me that he stole for that turn from another player.

Game four: won with the Wheel package but got there using mana geyser and Past in flames!

So for a while this deck is going to be my new baby and I’m going to try and get it to be as good as possible!

Will try and get a deck list online soon!

Good Cards for Token Decks

1. Rhys the Redeemed

One of the very few one drop legendary creatures. Able to produce 1/1 elf tokens for three mana and make copies of all tokens you control for six mana. If you can find a way to keep him in play for that long he can get stupidly out of control.

2. Thragtusk/Armada Wurm

Because who doesn’t want five life and/or an army of tokens whenever these guys blink out and re-enter. Combine these two with a Flickerform or Conjurer’s Closet and you’re in business.

3. Doubling Season

Of course the infamous Doubling Season, For obvious reasons.

4. Nomad’s Assembly

This puts a 1/1 Kor soldier token into play for each creature you control, A great way to increase your board presence

5. Assemble the Legion

This card can get ridiculous, especially with Doubling Season. Watch as your soldiers spread like bacteria and eradicate any hope of defense.

6. Growing Ranks

Allows you to copy any token you already have every turn, oh look at this 8/8 Godsire token, I think i’ll have another one of those, and maybe another one next turn.

7. Mycoloth

This guy is a must have in any token deck, mainly because he has both the ability to act as an outlet and to produce tokens proportional to twice the number of creatures sacrificed upon entry.

8. Hero of Bladehold

The hero is especially good if you combine it with multiple attack steps or doubling abilities. It also has battle cry which powers up your tokens when they attack.

9. Dragon Broodmother

Great because it produces baby dragons on each player’s turn. They also have devour 2 which means they can eat some of your other tokens upon entry so you can have bigger dragons if need be

10. Awakening Zone/From Beyond

Why not have tokens that can produce mana as well as providing some form of defense. Well with these cards you can.
