Family Dorididae

Sea Lemons

The family Dorididae is a group of dorid nudibranchs found in tropical waters worldwide. They get the name sea lemon due to several species which have bright yellow coloration and a shape which makes them look almost like a lemon, however not all species are yellow and can range in color from white to orange. Like all nudibranchs they have two rhinophores on the top of their head, these are used for chemoreception. Also like most nudibranchs the sea lemon feeds on sessile animals like sponges and cnidarians.
