dont be a coconut

maya’s tomato bisque recipe

tomato bisque is my fav food : ) and canned tomato soup isnt that good and sometimes i dont wanna drive all the way to zupas for soup so i came up with this healthy fun recipe

u will need:

  1. a yellow onion (minced)
  2. a few big carrots (cut really small)
  3. as many mushrooms as u want, i use like 5 (chopped)
  4. like two celery sticks (minced)
  5. 3 cloves of garlic (minced)
  6. basil (i use 5-ish leaves but u can just shake some dried basil into it)
  7. 1 can of diced tomatoes (with the juice!)
  8. like half a can of boring condensed tomato soup or u can use a small can of tomato paste
  9. 1 cup of chicken or veggie broth
  10. ½ cup of half & half or if u dont wanna add dairy u can add coconut milk
  11. balsamic vinegar
  12. olive oil or whatever oil u like to cook with
  13. a handheld blender (optional tho! tomato bisque is supposed to be smooth but sometimes i’m lazy and don’t wanna get out the blender, it tastes just as good with the veggie chunks lol)

what to do:

  • put the onions, carrots, and celery in a pot with a little oil and start cooking them on medium-low heat, when the onions start to get golden and the carrots/celery start to soften u know that ur doing it right
  • once those veggies are rocking, add in the mushrooms and garlic! let them cook for a little bit
  • then crank the heat up to medium-high and add the chicken/veggie stock, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • let the soup simmer for 5 minutes or so (i like to put a lid on the pot and just let it do its thing)
  • then add the half & half and basil!
  • splash in some balsamic vinegar bc its so damn good
  • now for the funnest part: u get to blend it with a handheld blender!
  • blend it until its smooth
  • eat it
  • : )
Effective skincare routines for less

I’ve tried my best to think of an effective skincare routine that would be also affordable. This is just a post to help out and give you some ideas. These are some of the things I did/learned from living in poverty.

-A short one-product routine: The least you can do to maintain healthy skin is cleansing and moisturizing. For this combined you could use just one product: safflower oil. it’s the most affordable I could find; 16 ounces for $7 on amazon (for scale, 30ml lasted me for 2 months to moisturise with) It contains omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin E, and a high concentration of linoleic acid. Making it very beneficial for the skin. You can oil cleanse with it, oil cleansing will remove all your makeup and has a slight exfoliating effect, removing some dead skin and hardened sebum. I prefer oil cleansing over a regular cleanser because it doesnt strip your moisture barrier as most inexpensive cleansers will. Safflower oil is also a good moisturiser as it absorbs quickly, NOT leaving you with a greasy face. Thats why its also suitable for oily skin and acne prone skin as it has the comedogenic rating of 0!!
Other oils good for this but more expensive: Argan and hempseed.

-Vaseline: If you have dry patches this could save your life. Vaseline acts like a piece of foil over your skin, put in on after moisturizing to prevent the moisture from leaving. Its especially beneficial when living in harsh temperatures. -

-Toner: Green tea ($2 for a box of 24 tea bags) is good at combating acne and soothing redness as a toner. I havent found spot on scientific evidence for this but theres plenty anectodal evidence. Using it on a cottonpad will also give you an exfoliating effect. Its very rich in antioxidants, thats why you should be drinking it as well. Its found that drinking GT can also reduce inflammation. It also appears to balance hormones, whose imbalance causes acne. And balances out or lowers insulin levels.

-Acne treatments: Acne has many different causes and finding something that works for you might be a chore. These are just a few things that may help.
Many people have had great results using neem oil (6oz 7$) to combat (cystic) acne. Just be careful; it smells bad, but its an effective spot treatment and a good substitute for tea tree oil which is more expensive. As research studies have shown neem oil effectively controls the harmful bacteria that cause the infection and reduces inflammation.
Benzoyl peroxide 2.5%/5% 100ml for $3 Benzoyl peroxide has been the most effective acne treatment for me personally. if you struggle mainly with closed comedones and zits this is the treatment to get. Start with 2.5% as its a strong treatment. Apply it at night on areas where you break out.

-More moisturisers: CeraVe PM is a cult favorite, its $13 dollars though and there are cheaper alternatives. I love to use argan oil (100 ml for $10) as a nighttime (and sometimes daytime) moisturiser, it leaves the skin smooth, soft and healthy. It has the comedogenicy rate of 0 too so its suitable for my acne prone skin. Its rich in fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E, making it a great anti aging product. Its not greasy and absorbs very quickly, giving you a healthy glow. Hempseed oil (24 oz for $16) would be more suitable for oily skin as it dries more than argan oil and has the same benefits. Studies have shown that hemp seed oil can dramatically decrease skin dryness and soothe itching and irritation. Both of these oils last long as hell as ive used up 50ml bottles of both in 5 months, with every day use.

-Exfoliants: For inexpensive exfoliation you tend to reach out to physical exfoliants, neglecting the fact that they cause more irritation and acne by micro tears. As an exfoliant I reccomend The Ordinary 5% Lactic Acid ($8) for a gentle exfoliantion. It gets you rid of blackheads and often also acne, fades acne scarring and gives you smooth skin and even skintone. This is pricier than other products on this list, but its much better than physical exfoliants, and its the cheapest out there probably. The Ordinary makes other inexpensive AMAZING products worth checking out.

-Body Care: Shea butter (16 oz 10$) and coconut oil (500 ml 6$) for me, work better than any other body butters I’ve ever tried. Dont use coconut oil on the face as its very pore clogging, but suitable for the body. I love to oil cleanse with CO sometimes and regularly moisturise my body with shea butter.

-Masks: Putting honey (500 ml $5) on your face as a mask can give you great effects, as its softening, anti inflammatory and locks moisture into the skin. Green Clay (400gr $3) is my favourite clay mask, gives immediate results and visibly makes my pores smaller. Extracts excess sebum from the pores.

~*~Bath Time!~*~

Here is my list of tips and tricks for of bathy goodness. This is just what I like to do and have done in the past. Keep in mind it can all be taken with a grain of salt [literally!!]

Preparing the Bath

🛀🏻 HOT water. I find it super cleansing and sweating is really good for you. I like to sit in the bath and my face sweats and im like YEAH lets cleanse this bod inside and out. pls dont burn yourself though peeps.

🛀🏼 Oils! My go-tos are lavender + coconut oil. I do 7-10 drops of lavender and one or two spoonfuls of coconut oil. Lavender for smell and relaxation and heavenly goodness, coconut for super smoothness of skin. If you are going to use other essential oils please do your research and make sure they are skin-safe! I also generally tie up my hair to keep it out of the oiliness.

🛀🏽 Epsom salts if you got em!

🛀🏾 Candles + crystals can line the tub as desired. I usually have all the bathroom lights out + 4 candles going at the foot of the tub. dont light your towel on fire.

🛀🏿 Cup of tea on the side! I like this for the added internal + external cleanse of the bath. Hot + nourishing on the outisde and hot + nourishing on the inside.

This is what I do and think about in the bath!

💧 oh my gosh water how healing you are, how cleansing, how warming.

💧 the water and oils im sitting in are literally soaking into my skin right now. the essence of this tub is entering my body

💧 touch your body. you’re naked right? perfect. time for some self body love. tell yourself you love your legs, while touching them. “i love my little toes.” “look at how nice my hands are.” “i love my pretty/handsome face.” “my brain is so smart and quick and calm.” “i love every little hair on my body.” “i have the coolest belly button” tell yourself things that you dont instinctually believe. go after the parts that you’re self conscious about “i love my tummy” “my bum is amazing” “my arms are the perfect size” “this is my favourite flabby bit” etc.

💧 drinking the tea if you have it- the heat and intent of that tea is permeating through all your internal organs. feel the heat through your mouth, esophagus, stomach, feel it blend in with the heat from the water entering your skin. full body heaty hot heatness

💧 the other day when i was in the bath i put my forehead/third eye on the faucet and pictured the vast network of pipes around the city supplying water to everyone. I thanked the water source and sent my energy throughout the pipes to hope that everyone was using it for good and healing and nourishing ways

💧 deep deep breathing. this is cool if your chest is below the water because when you exhale it sinks down and when you inhale it rises up. you can sync this motion with a prayer, mantra, chant, intention, whatever you wish!

💧 meditation. feel the heat, listen to your heartbeat, imagine all the little water molecules full of heat energy, vibrating, sending you their little blobs of heat energy into your skin, fueling your own little internal fire

💧 my FAVOURITE thing is the end of the bath. I sit in it, sometimes cross legged or curled up in a ball with my head on my knees and unplug the drain and stay like that while the whole tub drains. I picture the water whisking away all the negative in me and draining away. It’s like a re-birth! you can slowly feel your body get heavier and heavier as the water gets lower. Keep picturing the water taking away the bad and keep thanking it for cleaning you and nourishing you and healing you. seriously, how generous of the water to not only GIVE YOU it’s nutrients and warmth and thirst quenchy goodness, but to also take away all your badness, all your negativity, all your dirt and grime and leave you revitalized. water is so selfless. water is the best. thank you water.

💧 now that you are reborn as a new human (or otherwise) you can breathe and feel the differences in your body and just marvel in the smoothness of your skin and warmth of your body and heavenly bathy feelings that just soaked into you.

💧 another thing that might be cool is to weigh yourself before and after the bath. Your weight will go up like 2 or 3 pounds after you get out of the bath, which i find super cool. PROOF that the water is literally entering your body through your skin and staying there to heal you up real nice.

The most important thing IMO:

Do what comes to you naturally. all of this stuff just came into my head at different points in bath time and felt right for me to do. meditation might help you connect with that intuitive part of you that tells you what you need. if you get an urge, follow it. if your brain/body/soul tells you to stand up and sit down a bunch of times, or to dunk your head in or to blow bubbles or to splash with your feet, DO IT! just be safe and don’t hurt yourself or light anything on fire.

🐳The End🐳

OK sorry this post got out of hand but as you can tell i really like baths and water and bath meditation. This is something i’ve been doing for a while and it all came to me kind of naturally so forgive me if it is not specifically inclined toward a perspectives or approaches that you normally adhere to. I’m open to questions n things <3

ENJOY PALS!!

Hq boys as customers I've seen in retail

so as soon as I started my job at a bra store i immediately noticed so many different types of boyfriends/husbands/partners that come in with their gf/alone and idk why but I couldn’t stop thinking about this

Lev

- He’s that one boyfriend who was literally 6′4 and his girlfriend wanted a bra that was on the very top, so when I went to get the stick that lets me get it down, he went “nah, it’s all good” and reached it easily. He also helped me put it back

- blushed the entire time he was in the store

Kuroo

- The one dude who came in and his eyes lit up when he saw the stationary we had. Spent the entire time looking at things and ended up buying a lotion for himself

- “why dont they make coconut lotion where I shop??”

Oikawa

- The dude who was helping his girlfriend pick out sweaters. When she tried something on he went, “oh no, thats way too big. You need a small. and maybe in red”

- Almost cared more than his girlfriend about style and shopping

Kageyama

- The one guy who came in and super sneakily checked out something for his wife while she wasn’t looking

- told me thank you like 7 times

Terushima

- That one guy who always comes in and you know he’s a fuckboy. Backwards hat and a lil loud but when he waits in the fitting room for his gf he’s quiet and slightly red

Tsukishima

- The one who looks aloof but perks up when he hears the deals we have

- “Did you hear? The bras are only $20 today. You should get some.”

everyone says to drink coconut water. which really is a good suggestion. its good for your body. hydrates it better. but what they dont tell you is how warm coconut water tastes like gross cum.
