my new years resolutions are to grow my hair out and treat it better, get rid of them fucking acne scars, take better care of my skin and find out what really works, lose 15 pounds, focus on school more, an try to socialize more maybe actual make friends and stop being a lil shy bitch

there’s only one thing we all know for certain and that is …

You’ll have to fight through the hard times in order to get to the best times of your life. Keep at it.

Ford has never been happier to be called “Poindexter” and “Sixer”

I honestly don’t know, this is the only thing I could come up with for this week and it is kinda late sorry D:

If I could - as kindly as possible - point out one flaw in the RWBY writing that has always bothered me, it would be withholding information.

It’s something that is done far too often and something that I’ve heard the writers even kind of…brag about in commentary. They mentioned at one point having this whole thing for Mercury and what happened to him, they wanted to explain it but then decided that they’d just wait, because they could and while I think that works sometimes, more often than not it doesn’t.

It’s one thing to keep information from your characters, but you shouldn’t get too comfortable doing that with your audience and I think it’s led to a lot of the discussion that has gone on recently about the show.

When you start something and it has deep history and backstory - it can be very easy to want to slowly bring that out. The problem is, when you have an audience, is that they will sit around and excitedly come up with theories and ideas and plots that they want/think/hope happens.

What that does is creates hype and anticipation and expectations. The stuff coming out now, this stuff Qrow talked about and the history - that’s the stuff that’s been planned from the beginning. The stuff Monty/Miles/Kerry/Gray/Matt all sat around and created. Monty came up with the ideas/characters/etc., but as a group they all built that world.

So the disappointment in it I don’t think is even so much about the content itself, it’s that we had to wait so long for it and built it up so much ourselves in places like this (I’ve so done this before in fandom) and then when it comes out it’s not everything you spent months and months readying yourself for it to be and it’s maybe not as good as some things you’ve heard or thought of or read about and it can be a let down.

If they had given us all of this from the beginning - opened up the world from the very start - it would have probably spared a lot of people because instead of building our own ideas of the world, we could have just built around the established ones. It’s a mistake a lot of new writers make (remember Kerry runs the show now and he’s like…25) and even in withholding you hurt yourself because if you sit on an idea for too long you eventually start to change it in your own mind and think you can make it better and then contradict something you’ve already set.

That is what I think is happening with RWBY right now and why some of the big stuff is not having the impact it should.

I love RWBY, I support RWBY and I will continue to for as long as they make it. It’s my favorite show.

Still, you can clearly tell that it’s being written and created by people who have never done this sort of thing before. The hope is that they can grow and improve and clean it up, but I still think they’ve done a good job building something people are, if nothing else, very passionate about.

His crown lit up the way as we moved slowly
Past the wondering eyes of the ones that were left behind

one thing that bugs me on jtv? the complete lack of acknowledgement of what petra’s been through. petra is an abuse survivor. the one constant presence in her life is a mother who amongst other things has threatened her, belittled her, constantly gaslights her, all for her own selfish gains. struggles through post-partum depression. discovers she has a twin- who could have become the family petra so desperately needs who drugs her, assumes her identity and tries to screw her over. watches her husband who she really does love fall in love with another woman whilst said woman is carrying the child she wanted so much. not to mention being kidnapped, suffering a late term miscarriage and feeling inferior to jane. and like? there is barely any mention of petra’s past. the only thing they bring up are her mistakes- which yes are a lot, and yes she has done some terrible things, but geez. please let petra go to therapy!!!!! please let petra be happy!!!!!!

So I’m probably going to get hate for saying this but tbh I don’t care about the skin color of TV characters or movie characters. At all.

I don’t friggin care about “whitewashing”

I don’t care if the entire cast is black

I don’t care if the entire cast is white

I don’t care if the entire cast is purple with polkadots made out of the friggin color from H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Colour Out of Space”

LISTEN: You don’t need a character to have the same skin color as you to be able to relate to them.

You do not need a character to have the same skin color as you to be able to enjoy them.

And believe me, I know. I’m not black and yet there are some black characters whom I really relate to and enjoy.

Case in point? Iris West from CW’s The Flash. For the first season I was kinda neutral towards her, but when she landed a journalistic job and became more aware of Barry’s feelings towards her I really started to grow attached. I’m a journalistic writer like Iris, I’ve got two siblings like Iris, I’m here for emotional support like Iris, if my brother/boyfriend was a superhero I’d probably run around getting myself into trouble like Iris, too. #IrisWestIsTheNextLoisLane

My point is that you don’t have to have the same skin color as someone to be able to relate to them!

My point is that skin color doesn’t matter because we’re all humans. People of every ethnicity go through the same struggles, such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Love
  • Heartache
  • Loss
  • Abuse
  • Rape
  • Poverty
  • Loneliness
  • Responsibility
  • Guilt
  • Emptiness
  • Hopelessness
  • Envy
  • Vanity & Pride
  • Anger
  • Yeah basically all the 7 deadly sins

I could go on but I think y’all get the point.

I just can’t see any reason for why we need to have exactly 25% black characters and 25% Asian characters and 25% Muslim characters and–

like, for the love of Dormammu I don’t care, just give me a compelling character who’s going through a relatable struggle

I can understand why it would matter if you’re trying to make a film that focuses specifically on racism, or the Holocaust, or oppression as a key theme. Then I can understand why casting and skin color matters.

But the vast majority of entertainment are about superheroes and ninja turtles and starship captains and elves and teenage drama and adult drama. Most of these shows and movies take place in privileged America where your biggest dilemma is the fact that they took Doctor Who off of Netflix, not the fact that you fear getting shot in the streets because of your skin color.

To clarify: I’m not against having a diverse cast. I’m not saying that we should just turn a blind eye to racism. I’m not saying hate crimes don’t happen in America.

What I’m saying is that if you really want to make a change, focus less on entertainment (which you are so very privileged to receive in the first place) and more on the REAL issues in the world, like the fact that people are dying for being LGBT, women are being raped. Stop complaining about how some dumb TV show didn’t cast enough black people and try doing something substantial for once. Go out and join a club that actually raises funds to help people or something.

I feel like we’re getting worked up over all the wrong things.

Sorry if I triggered anyone out there.

gosh tho aint photographing black things just the pits? i apologize for the weird textured background, but it was the only thing that would keep the picture from turning into a blurry dog shaped Item on a blown out white background ;n; sometime i’ll invest in a good black photo cube or something, i sorely need it!

cute flustered nerds

Bubblegum will never not be annoyed that Zigzag is so much taller than her lmao
