don't care about what others say

Dear parents of autistic children,

No, your child doesn’t do weird things “for no reason”. They do it for a reason, you just don’t know it yet. You have different brains, different perspectives, so sometimes things that are obvious to them are a mystery to you. But you don’t have to ignore it and blame it on them. You can make an effort, reach out to them and figure out the reason.

Do they scream in public when it looks like everything is okay? Well, there’s probably a reason for that. Maybe the situation is overwhelming to their senses, it’s too loud, to bright, to crowded, and they need some space and time to recover. Maybe they can’t stim because other people keep telling them it looks weird, so they end up exhausted much faster. Maybe you are breaking their routine by being outside at this time. Or maybe you are going through the supermarket “the wrong way”, not how you usually do it. Maybe they forgot their comfort object at home, and just realized that. Maybe they are in pain and can’t communicate that. Maybe they are very hungry and don’t realize that yet because it’s hard for them to recognize their needs and emotions. Maybe it’s a combination of those, or something different altogether.

Either way, they probably don’t do it “for no reason”. You just don’t see the reason. Make an effort to communicate. If they are verbal, ask them. If they can’t speak with their mouth at the moment or ever, use alternative methods of communication. If they can’t explain it, consult other autistic people, including autistic adults who probably have a bunch of ideas as to why your child does that weird thing. Don’t dismiss it, don’t complain about it, don’t blame your child for doing it. Try to see the world from their perspective. Respect their needs and feelings. Learn more about autism from other autistic people.

And life will be much better and easier for both you and your child.

Please don’t worry about me.
I’m just a little tired from being strong all the time…. Between dealing with all my own problems, pretending everything’s fine and helping other people with their problems – I sometimes feel like I have no energy left.
Sometimes I imagine what it would feel like to be taken care of… for someone to wrap me up in a blanket, hold me while I cry and tell me that they love me and that everything will be alright. But for some reason, whenever anyone asks me if I’m okay – I always say I’m fine!?
I think deep down I’m afraid…. Afraid that if I reach out for help, I might be let down… or afraid that if open up, all the pain I’ve been holding inside will come flooding out and I won’t be able to stop it.
I think that’s possibly the biggest paradox of having strength… that sometimes you spend so much of your energy being strong for yourself and others that it ultimately weakens you to the point where you feel you have nothing left to give… That’s how I’m feeling right now – but give me time and I know I’ll be okay.
I’ll push through like I always do… because I’m strong….
and I don’t know how to be any other way.

I want Ian and Mickey to just talk; a good long chat about each other and how they’re doing. I want Ian to ask Mick about prison, I want them to talk about micks tattoo, I want Mickey to ask how Ian is doing with his disorder and how his mental state is. I want them to share each other in a moment of Just them no cares in the world and a quite moment. I just want them to say I love you face to face for real, NO ulterior. I don’t really care if gallavich is END game, like yes it would be nice but I just want a good
Moment of Ian and Mickey, two separate beings talking about their lives in the past few years.

“Sam doesn’t love Dean as much as Dean loves him.”

Excuse me, what? ohmygosh sit down…

No but seriously…what the hell? I hate when people say this kind of stuff. Are we watching the same show here? Because I just cannot comprehend this.

After Dean lost the love of his mother, all he ever wanted was to be loved and cared for.

“All he wanted was to be loved. Just like me.” - Dean

“You saved my life over and over. Man you sacrifice everything for me, don’t you think I’d do the same for you? You’re my big brother, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. And I don’t care, I’m going to get you out of this. I’m going to save your ass for a change.” - Sam

Ahem…I just like this gif of protective Sam hehehehe.

Sam accepted his death because he thought he was holding Dean back. But he chose to stay with Dean instead because Dean needed him - because Dean doesn’t like being alone and he is all Dean has.

And when Dean accepted his death that would eventually come with the mark of cain, Sam pulled him out of it. He’s still pulling Dean out of it every time Dean mention his death because Sam needs him just as much and he’s not going to stand there and watch Dean die again. He’s seen it waaaaaaaaaaaay too many times. (and so have I…kill my baby again and watch what happens grrr)

That time Dean was bleeding and hurt in the back seat of the Impala and John was like ‘Sam killing the demon comes before everything’ and Sam looks at Dean from the rearview mirror of the car and was like “no, not everything.” Because Dean being alive, safe and okay matters more to him. And remember that time he went totally psycho after Dean died in Mystery Spot? and begging for the Trickster to bring Dean back.

And the other time Sam tried to sell his soul to save Dean.

And Sam leaving Dean so Dean would be safe from him and anything that came after Sam. He didn’t give up on Dean when Dean was in a coma. And in Faith, when Sam didn’t give up on Dean when he was sick. In Scarecrow, when Sam came back for Dean after their arguments and saved him. Sam trusted Dean when John was possessed by the yellow eyed demon.

When Sam hit the dog and “settled down” he was totally suicidal and broken because he thought Dean was gone, dead, and he didn’t even know where Dean was or where he would start looking. The “normal life” saved him and when Dean got out of purgatory and met Sam, Sam left that life behind for Dean. (Like Dean did when Sam came back from hell.)

“I’m not leaving my brother alone out there!” - Sam

Sam and demon!Dean…I can’t /cries in corner/

Sam being angry at Crowley for getting Dean into this mess and then being even more angry when Dean ditched him for Crowley.

Sam looking at Dean like he’s the cutest thing in the world. (cuz he is)

okay Sam control urself /cough

“I can’t do it without my brother. I don’t want to do it without my brother.”

Sam is the only one who understands Dean more than even Dean himself and he makes Dean really happy. Sam putting up with Dean’s shenanigans and worrying about his poor eating habits but still willing to buy Dean some junk food to make him happy.

And there is more where that came from but this would be one hell of a long post if I kept going.

Anyway, it’s not that Dean loves Sam more than Sam loves Dean. It’s just that we’ve seen Dean taking care of Sam longer than we’ve seen Sam do it because hello~~ Sam was in diapers when Dean ran out of their burning house with him. He’s raised Sam since then so yeah of course he loves Sam and we’ve seen him love and protect Sam since then because that was kind of his job thanks to John. Dean’s throwing himself into danger to protect him. Dean’s a lil shit who won’t even give Sam a chance to protect him or save him because he’s always thinking it’s his job to do it and Sam’s sick of Dean thinking like that (me too).

Sam doesn’t have to throw himself into danger to prove he loves Dean. He does sometimes but I think him being there with Dean, for Dean and takes care of him like he does is his way of showing his love and it’s just as equal. He wouldn’t be so desperate to save Dean if he didn’t love him. And I hope he is the only one who saves him so people can stop saying stupid things like this.

As this Kaylor fandom gets bigger, we are becoming increasingly similar to many other fandoms of this type. What we need to remember is that with a fandom this big, misinformation is easier to be spread as truth and we need to be very careful about it. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we pride ourselves on being a well researched and well documented fandom, and that is a reputation I would like to keep. So fact check, fact check, fact check. All of us have moments where we post something that turns out to be wrong, that’s fine, but please don’t post something you know is wrong or haven’t taken the time to check.

Disability does not end where values begin

One of the most painful aspects of disability is that it can interfere with treating people the way we’d like to treat them, and doing what we’d like to do for them.

Disability makes some things hard, and other things impossible. Often, we have values that say it’s important to do the thing anyway. This does not actually make it possible to do the thing. Caring about others doesn’t make disability go away. Accepting and accommodating our limitations works a lot better. We can only do things that are possible, with the brains and bodies we actually have.

For instance, body language:

  • People communicate a lot of important things through body language
  • Some people can’t see well enough to understand body language
  • Others have insurmountable cognitive barriers to understanding body language
  • It’s important to listen to what people are saying. That doesn’t make it possible for everyone to understand body language.

Understanding speech:

  • Most people communicate a lot of important things through speech
  • Some people can’t understand speech
  • (Either because they can’t hear well enough, or for cognitive reasons)
  • It’s important to listen to people. That doesn’t make it possible for everyone to understand speech

Text communication:

  • There are often competing access needs in text communication
  • Some people can’t read walls of text, and need whitepsace
  • Some people aren’t capable of putting in line breaks (or aren’t reliably capable of doing so)
  • Some people need simple language to understand things
  • Others are incapable of changing their language use, and have to use big words in order to communicate
  • The importance of listening doesn’t make it possible for people to understand every kind of writing.
  • The importance of communicating in a way people can understand doesn’t make it possible for everyone to communicate in every way people need
  • Sometimes there needs to be an interpreter

Inaccessible buildings:

  • Some important meetings take place in inaccessible buildings
  • Some people can’t climb stairs (or can’t do so reliably)
  • The importance of the meeting doesn’t make it possible to climb the stairs
  • Even if someone you care about really, really needs your help with what’s going on at that meeting

Outdoor events:

  • Some people can’t be outside for extended periods safely
  • (For any number of reasons)
  • This is just as true when there’s an important protest. Caring about the issue doesn’t make being outside any safer.
  • Or when there’s a wedding or something. Caring about friends and family doesn’t make it any safer to be outside

Recognizing people:

  • Most people want people they know to recognize their face and remember their name
  • When people aren’t recognized, they often feel like no one cares about them
  • Some people can’t recognize faces
  • Some people can’t remember names
  • Understanding the importance of recognizing names/faces does not make it possible for everyone

Intermittent abilities:

  • Some people can do certain things only some of the time
  • They may be able to push really hard and do it in an emergency
  • Or it might fluctuate in ways they have no control over
  • That doesn’t mean they could do it reliably.
  • Caring about something doesn’t make it possible to do it all of the time.
  • Disability is real even when it’s intermittent.

There are any number of other examples. When something is physically or cognitively impossible, it’s still impossible when it’s important. When it’s dangerous, it’s still dangerous when it’s important. Caring about other people doesn’t make disability go away.

Whatever we do, we have to do as who we are.

tl;dr Disability makes some things hard, and other things impossible. Often, we have values that say it’s important to do the thing anyway. This does not actually make it possible to do the thing. Caring about others doesn’t make disability go away. Accepting and accommodating our limitations works a lot better. We can only do things that are possible, with the brains and bodies we actually have.

“Be a lawyer, a doctor or a teacher", they say. But there’s one thing they can’t hear: the silent beat of creativity within you - that calling beckoning you to trust your gut, follow your heart, and do what your soul demands. You can never articulate to others what you feel in your bones because you rarely understand it yourself. Do you know how many times I get a bomb-ass idea but can’t explain it to anyone? All. The. Time. They can’t see it, but I can - and that’s all that matters. They will see it when I bring my idea to life.”

I'm the same person that had asked if you could figure out who other anons are. Anyway, I think it's very nice that you don't really think about who they may be out of respect for their wish to remain anonymous. Also, about the 'sweetheart2100gate' person were they the anon that kept asking people if the relationship in the comics had any affect on the relationship in the DCEU? I vaguely recall someone saying something about that message going around so I'm wondering if it's the same person.

Thank you that’s sweet of you to say. No, maybe I’m naïve but I don’t think it’ll start drama. I just think it’ll bring up bad memories.

Yes! They would ask that too! Those were their two favorite questions, ‘will the comics affect the DCEU?’ and ‘what does the honeymoon phase mean?’ You’re thinking of the right person.

anonymous asked:

What's your take on the whole Karamel/Kaolsen thing along with the actors getting hate!?

I was wondering if/when I would get this this question. So prepare for this long thing! First off I want to say that I love every since person on this show. I love every character and actor and that’s never going to change for me.

Just because a country is funding a sport does not mean that the people there do not watch it, or are interested in it. But judging by your previous answer you believe that your are right no matter what. So all I can say is I now understand why people say the things they do about you. Good luck in life girl, you're going to need it.

Yeah whatever I have other stuff to take care of than ski jumping and Idgaf what people here think of me so yeah keep talking about me at least that’s how I stay in the middle of it all 👏🏻

[!!!] According to Pledis Ent, Mingyu have injured himself while at a shooting. This will affect his participation in Seventeen’s Japan promotions in terms of performances at concerts and fanmeet but Mingyu will still be able to attend fansigns.

Do you ever think about the fact that Wes & Laurel only had each other when everyone else pretty much ignored them before murder night? What makes me even happier is the fact that absolutely nothing has changed.

Whenever something’s gone wrong, they still gravitate towards each other. When Laurel found out about Frank the Hitman, where did she go? To Wes’s apartment. When Annalise dropped off that info about Wes’s biological father on his doorstep, Laurel volunteered to take them both to Ohio using her father’s money.

I just … I just want them to stop making me feel these things.

don’t plenty of people think you’re cute? what’s so different about me saying it?

As soon as he hears the other’s voice Josuke takes a few steps back.

“You realize it’s only girls who call me cute right? Girls I don’t know. And people I don’t care to really know– so–…. So maybe you should be tellin’ people you know sort of well stuff like that?! Cause it gives them the wrong message!”

Don’t You Care: Cont. from Here

Sombra crossed her arms, her brows continuing to furrow as the other woman spoke to her. Those hurtful words, those harsh words– they only made her a̩̭̬͋ͩ̀̓ṋ̬̪̟̘̣̙ͨg̡̼̳̠̣̤̹ṟ̷͉̬̬̘͓̫̑ͭͩ̅͑y̰͐̽͌͠. What did this agent know about her? Absolutely nothing, just like the rest of the world. No one knew her motivations, her goals, her morals– ṇ̬͙̜̮̋̋o͛̈ͭ͂ͨ͜ṭ̻̤̟̹̅̽̋̄̈́h͙ͩi̢̘̫͚̥͓n̈͊̿͒g͕̓̐͆̋.

Who are you to say things like t̲͊͐̌ͩḫ̠̈ͭ̆̅a̻̞̩̺͓̍ͪ̓̈́̕t͎̞͎̱͍̯͙̊͌̆̍͡ to me?” She asked, letting her hands fall to her sides. She gritted her teeth, taking a pause to think out her next planned out words. She knew she could loose her temper when talking about things such as this, things that were close to her and dealt with her personally. Im not selfish, this is what I deserve for what happened to me it was just matter of t̲͑͑̂͌ḭ̐ͫ͐m̸̲̜̩͇̰̄͂̀͆̚e͙̙̓͒ͭ̔̏͘, which Im sure you know all about, chica.”

Besides, Im sure this is not just about m̫̪͔̠̂̐̓̇̅̆e̝̝̯ͤ to you, is it?” She smiled slightly, gaining her composure a bit and smiling at the agent. She raised a brow at the tears found in the woman’s eyes, was it really necessary to cry? She scoffed and waved her hand at the poster girl, quickly taking a stance and ĉ̨̫͎̇̒o̡͕̬̻̬̥v͕̼̹̟̜́ͅeͬͥ̎̇͊̐ͯr̡͔̠͐̚i͉̯̰̟͊ͤͯ̈́͑n͊g̥͇͇͎͓̩̭ͯ͋́ her emotions. This is about WM, right?”

It makes me really upset when people say Haru doesn’t care about Makoto. Or say that it’s a one-sided relationship. Like. You don’t have to ship them, but you really can’t deny they have a special bond together. They’ve been friends since childhood…Don’t trash their entire relationship just because of what you ship.
