Been Doing it All Wrong

So I have been a stay at home mom for over two years now, and I recently realized that I have been doing it all wrong. You see, this whole time my daughter and I have been just winging it. There is no structure to our day. No schedule that we keep. We pretty much just hang out all day watching Curious George and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. That may have been fine when she was still a baby, but now that she’s a toddler I have realized that I should have been teaching her and getting her ready for preschool. Sure, I have been singing the alphabet song and trying to teach numbers and colors here and there, but it’s been rather sporadic. Don’t get me wrong, Aria is a smart child, she talks very well for a two year old, and she’s always blowing me away with some of the things she says. But, now that shes two and a half, I realized its time for a more structured day, we can’t just sit around watching TV anymore.  So, to start, I have typed out a daily schedule, that includes things like arts and crafts, doing flash cards, playing outside, as well as nap time and cleaning time. Today is my first day working with the schedule and i have to say, so far it’s working out pretty good. I have been more productive this morning, than I normally am in a whole week. And Aria is adapting very well to it. I know it will take some time getting her to concentrate on doing flash cards and the other lessons I have planned, such as learning to write her name and counting, but as long as we are patient I know before long she will be completely ready for preschool/daycare. Now, if I can just get her potty trained.

I’ve had such a packed week with so much cool stuff going on, and this is the only picture I have to show for it: a crazy dryer with tumble dry on bottom and shelf and hanger dry on top. #herestomemories #doingitwrong
