Wow... With polyamory, don't you ever get jealous? I have always wanted to try it but I'm afraid that I'll be too possessive.

i showed this ask to my girlfriend (who generally deals with more jealous feelings than me), i gave her my phone to type out her thoughts on it and we responded together, i’ll italicize her writing.

Simple Life - 1 year later!

A year since simple life. Wow. I can’t believe it has been that long. At the same time I can’t believe it’s been that short. (If that makes sense lol) It’s been a year where a lot has happened, not a lot in front of the scenes, but a lot behind it. We wrote a lot, we did a lot of hosting, and a lot of interviews (of other people). And we have learned SO MUCH. Simple life, EP was not so simple to actually get out as I’m sure you are all aware. It was the first project we put out in the “country” genre. It was the first project we put our after our label closed. It was the first time putting something out in this new phase of our careers and our lives. And we could not have done it with out all of you… The love that you have shown us in this year, this growing process, this sometimes wonderful, sometimes frustrating adventure that has been this past year, THANK YOU. I cannot wait to share with you what we have been working on. And this year has taught me one HUGE lesson. ITS OK TO NOT BE OK. Let me say that again, ITS OK TO NOT BE OK. You are gonna have highs, really great ones! And you are gunna have lows, maybe some really low ones. Don’t beat yourself up for being overwhelmed. Don’t beat yourself up for not being the happy smiley person you post to the highlight reel that is your Instagram. You are doing the best you can. I’ve had to say this to myself a lot this past year! And guess what, IM OK WITH THAT. See how that works?? ;) Anyways, long story short, thank you so much for letting me do what I love, and for identifying with the 7 stories, the 7 songs, that were on that EP for the past year. Your tweets, instagrams, everything mean more to me than you know. Thank you for growing up with me, all of you. I am so proud of all of you, going to college, graduating, falling in love, getting jobs, LOOK AT YOU!!! I am so lucky to know you. Here’s to the next round of stories, both mine and yours. I love you all. Forever and always.

Salam Alaykum, I really love this blog, the information you offer in your links, and the peace and happiness that i get the more I learn about Islam! I am converting hopefully soon, and i have done lots of research on Islam, and this blog alone has taught me a lot about the beautiful religion :) Do you possibly have any tips for me, a soon to be new Muslim? If not it's okay, because i just wanted to say thank you for this great blog!

Walaykum asalam :)

That makes us so happy, may Allah bless you immensely in your journey.

I think some tips that may help (that also helped me, as I am a born Muslim but didn’t really start learning about Islam till later on in life):

  • Be patient with yourself and the learning process
  • You do not have to know every single thing right away, again it’s all a learning process
  • Be open to learning from others and teaching them
  • Perfection is not expected of you, that is a trait only Allah holds
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help (hint: there are a ton of supportive people on Tumblr who would be there in a heart beat)
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself with information or knowledge, absorb it little by little - we all are expected to learn from womb to tomb
  • Start with the Quran first and get familiar with it and the stories it holds - what they mean, what lessons they teach, what Allah is trying to tell us
  • This link may help at times ( :)
  • More tips here from Suhaib Webb
  • Make dua for anything and everything
  • And again patience :)

May you always be surrounded by positivity and those who help shape you into a better person for this world and the Hereafter :)
