Okay, so, I'd love to read a little something by you set in a world where Lavender made it out of the Battle of Hogwarts. Maybe not okay, but alive?
Once upon a time, Lavender had wanted everyone to look at her. She had been the kind of kid who put on dramatic plays for her stuffed animals, for any visitors to the house, and for any neighbor or passersby she could snag from the front yard.
Dating Ron in sixth year had been fun, most of all because everyone had kept sneaking glances at her. She had heard her name in curious whispers and she had grinned and giggled into Parvati’s shoulder.
Everyone was looking now, or pretending not to. She heard the whispers– oh it’s that poor Brown girl. Can you imagine, if it was your daughter, if it was you? Oh and she was so pretty before, too–what a pity–almost makes it worse, doesn’t it?
“You know Professor Lupin was a werewolf?” Hermione said, ten minutes into a very awkward lunch she had asked for in an equally awkward letter.
Lavender pushed a sauteed carrot through a little puddle of pasta sauce. “I think everyone heard about that one. Someone told the papers, or something, right?”
“Er, yes,” said Hermione. “Snape did. Which is what I– I mean, it’s related. Oh, I wish you’d gotten to talk to Remus about this. He was a lovely man.”
“Not as lovely as Lockhart,” Lavender said and she and Hermione spent a moment in wistful remembrance. “God, I feel old,” Lavender said.
“Anyway, Snape,” said Hermione. “Snape and Lupin. When Lupin was at school, Snape would make him a potion that would… tame him, on full moons. He could just curl up in his office and sleep by the fire. If you’re interested, I’m trying to learn how to brew it myself.”
Lavender shook her head. “We’re not friends,” she said. “Never have been. So why are you doing all this?”
Hermione looked like she was trying to say “we’re friends,” but she couldn’t get it out. “I was there, once, when Lupin turned without the potion. I was so scared. I thought we were going to die.”
“Afraid I’ll sniff you out on a dark night?” Lavender said, face twisting as she sank back into her wicker chair.
“No, I–” Hermione squeezed her eyes shut, and all the hesitation was making Lavender more and more uncomfortable. Even at eleven, Hermione had bulldozed through things. She didn’t waver. “I was so scared, but I think it was even worse for him. It hurt, but he looked so scared, too, I–”
“I know how it feels,” said Lavender, very quietly, and Hermione snapped her mouth shut. Lavender took a big sip from her tea. It was still steaming– it had not taken long to exhaust small talk, between the two of them.
Hermione cleared her throat and tried again. “I’m trying to do the right thing. I’m trying to make amends. I’m trying to– make things better. Do you want this?”
Lavender put her mug back down, shaking out scalded fingers, and said, “Yes.” Then, because her mother had raised her right, she said, “Thank you.”
“That sounds like a weird conversation,” said Parvati, whose door Lavender went and knocked on after she and Hermione had split the bill with the precise-to-the-Knut math of the vaguely acquainted and recently employed.
Lavender kicked through the fall of autumn leaves that had collected in front of the porch swing. “She was trying to be nice, I think.”
“She’s not very good at it,” said Parvati.
Her father wept. He tried not to but he was a crier, always had been.
“You were so brave,” said Lavender’s mother, cupping her cheeks in her warm hands and not even flinching at the scar tissue under her palms. “We are so proud.”
Lavender’s mother was a Muggleborn, daughter of a math teacher and a door-to-door salesman (“now there is a profession that requires some magic,” her grandfather used to tell her).
Her father was a wizard and he was trying hard not to cry, bending down to pet the dogs weaving between all their ankles. Lavender bent down, too, scratching behind Fiddlestick’s floppy ears while Mopsy cleaned her cheek forcefully. “Hey,” she said, and her father looked up, trying to firm his wobbly chin.
“You know I’m proud of you, too,” he said, trying not to tremble on it. “I just…” He reached out to squeeze her knee gently. “You did everything right. You did everything good. I’m so proud of you, chickadee.”
“I know,” she said, and she did. He was a Gryffindor, too.
It took Hermione more than a month to figure out the potion sufficiently well enough that she’d let Lavender try it. She was founding a non-profit for nonhuman rights, too, after all, as well as doing a fair few local speaking gigs, petitioning the Wizenagamot on a half dozen issues, getting an advanced degree, and supposedly, at some point, sleeping.
It took more than a month, so Lavender spent another night locked in her parents’ newly fortified cellar. She didn’t remember much, but she woke up with her throat sore and her nails ragged. The door was gouged from the inside. She wondered if she had been screaming. She wondered if that’s what the howls were. She felt like screaming, maybe, a little.
The door cracked open the moment the moon had dropped down below the horizon, outside. Her mother came in with a tray of her favorite breakfast foods– danishes and boiled eggs, steaming hot cocoa with the barest splash of bitter coffee in it.
Parvati came stomping down the stairs after her. “Graceful,” said Lavender. She winced at the roughness of her voice.
“Look who’s talking,” said Parvati. “Up, c'mon, eat your breakfast. We’re doing midnight manicures. Your dad says he’ll let us doll up his nails, too.”
The next full moon night, Lavender locked herself in the cellar again. “It should be safe,” Hermione had said. “It should. I mean, I’ve done all the tests. I followed all the instructions. It should work.”
Lavender didn’t remember, because she never remembered– she didn’t recall the cellar door unlocking and opening after ten minutes of post-moonrise silence. She didn’t recall Parvati Wingardium Leviosa-ing a comfy chair down the stairs, or her sitting down and pulling out a stack of Witch Weeklys, nor did she remember curling up on Parvati’s fuzzy button slippers and going to sleep.
But she did remember waking up in the morning, her cheek pressed into a soft pillow. She was tattered under a thick blanket, but she was human and looking upward at Parvati’s slack, sleeping face. Her dark plaits tumbled, curling, over the soft pink polka dots of her pajamas.
Lavender pulled herself up to sitting, stole the open Witch Weekly, and waited for Parvati to wake up.
“You’re going to be alright,” Professor Trelawney said and she wasn’t even looking at Lavender’s palm, just holding her hand tight in her cold fingers. “You’re going to be happy. You’re going to be fine. People are going to love you and stand by you and we will be there.”
The tower room was just the same as Lavender remembered it, down to the spicy-sweet tea and Trelawney’s big blinking eyes. Lavender squeezed her hands back. “I love you, too, professor.”
“You know, I think you can call me Sybil. It seems the time for it.”
Dean and Seamas’s housewarming for their ugly little first flat was a crowded mess, but the afterparty wasn’t. Lavender and Parvati came by with paint swatches, opinions, and hangover remedies. They ate greasy Chinese food on the floor, because it was about as comfortable as the couch.
They came back the next week, and the next. Parvati conjured a crackling fire in a big fruit bowl Dean’s mother had given him and they all sat around it like they were back at Gryffindor Tower’s hearths, procrastinating on homework.
On nights like that they sometimes talked about Hogwarts, but most of the time they didn’t. Dean had started drawing again and he walked them through his notebooks– his sisters, caricatures of the customers he dealt with in Ollivander’s wand shop, the snarky little comics he’d always scrawled in the edges of his notes. Parvati told them about the Auror trainees’ antics, going ut on their first field missions with their mentors. “All bravado and caffeine,” she said. “Bunch of show-offs.”
“So you fit in well, then?” Dean said.
“Nah, that’s Lav,” Parvati said. Dean and Seamas glanced warily at Lavender, but she just giggled and reached for another potsticker.
Seamas was considering going back to school. “Hermione’s been badgering me about it,” he said. “Says I have a talent for pyrotechnics, and there’s a whole major for fire magics at Brinxley.”
“What about you, Lav?” said Dean. “You still thinking about vet school?”
“Oh, uh, that’s the Muggle word. Veterinarian– a medimagizoologist?”
“The schools aren’t too interested in a werewolf as a student,” Lavender said, shrugging.
“Not that that stops Hermione from showing up on the doorstep with half-penned anti-discrimination lawsuits she wants Lav to star in,” Parvati said.
“When does she sleep?” said Dean.
Little children asked about it in the street sometimes. “Mum, why’s her face like that?” “How come she’s walking all funny?”
Sometimes their parents turned to Lavender with eager bright eyes in the grocery store line, expecting her to answer. (“I got hurt, but I’m okay now.”) Sometimes they shushed their kids and gave her little apologetic half-smiles, glancing away from the raised lines of scar tissue. Sometimes they pulled their children closer to them and crossed to the other side of the street.
Harry Potter had a godson. Teddy Lupin was four the first time Lavender met him, just outside Gringotts. Teddy clung to Harry’s pants leg, peeking past his godfather’s hanging robe. “Why’d her face do that?” he said and Harry dropped a hand down into Teddy’s hair, which was bright green.
“She’s just like your dad,” said Harry.
“Puppy,” Teddy whispered, eyes wide with joy, and his skin shifted until scars stood out stark on his smiling chubby cheeks.
Lavender bit her lip and sank down to her knees in the street, holding out a hand. “Why aren’t you handsome, chickadee. What’s your name?”
Once, Lavender had wanted everyone to look at her.
She hated stories that told you to be careful what you wished for. Were you not supposed to want things? Was that the answer? She was nearly twenty two and she could make things fly with a few whispered words. She had lived through her seventh year at Hogwarts, had stepped out into that battle with her wand out and her eyes open. She had woken up–hurting, wounds tended, poison in her veins–to Parvati sleeping on Sybil’s shoulder at her bedside.
She had cried when they told her about the lycanthropy. She had cried over her bunny because a fox had gotten to it. Both times it had been with her face buried in Parvati’s shoulder and Parvati’s hands stroking her hair. She wished and she wanted– animals that never left you, bodies that never betrayed you.
Once, Lavender had wished that everyone would look at her, and now they were. Everyone was looking– so Lavender held Parvati’s hand in the grocery store at midnight, because they had both been craving green apples. Everyone was looking– so Lavender curled her hair and pinned it up, wore tank tops and little skirts on any day hot enough that she could get away with it, laughed aloud in public spaces. Everyone was looking– so Lavender knocked on Hermione Granger’s door one evening and asked, “What would it take to get me into magical vet school?”
Hermione had her bushy hair all tied back and a quill behind each ear. “A lot. There’s some statutes we’ve got to fight, and even if we can handle that you’ll still be under intense scrutiny for years.”
“I can work with that,” said Lavender, and Hermione grinned.
When Teddy marched down the aisle with the rings, his hair was a shimmering swirl of pink and purple to match the flowers woven into Parvati’s braids and Lavender’s curls.
The honeymoon would be short–a week in magical Paris in the townhouse of a Beauxbaton girl they’d befriended fourth year. Lavender had more medical textbooks packed into her luggage than anything else. Parvati’s bags were lined with half-finished reports that she’d owl to Auror headquarters from a rumpled Parisian morning, getting croissant crumbs in the bedsheets.
But for now the hall was filled with pink and purple blooms, white candles, familiar faces. Hermione stood in a violet bridesmaid’s dress, and Dean and Seamus in matching ties at Parvati and Lavender’s respective backs. Padma was luminescent with joy over Parvati’s shoulder. She had taken Lavender aside that morning for a short quiet walk in the mist and told her, “I know tonight’s what makes it official, but I’ve thought of you as my sister for years.”
When Lavender leaned forward and kissed her wife, her father burst into proud tears in the front row. He was a crier, always had been. Lavender buried her face in Parvati’s shoulder, smiling so hard she thought she might come apart. Her scars creased and puckered in her dimples, and she was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Hello!! Can I ask for a friend zoned MC feeling unrequited love to the RFA + V & Unknown which ends in a "I like you god damn it" confession?? And they like you back?? Thank youuuu (: I love your blog btw
Author’s note: sorry this is so rushed I have to post Saeran/V’s separate bc this is so long || So some of these aren’t as much confessions as
they are cute, BUT I HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM NONETHELESS ♥
“To the left, MC!!!! NO, YOUR OTHER LEFT!”
You smashed the buttons of your
controller down, hoping something good would happen
I have no idea what I’m doing.
“I think I just died.”
You set your controller down and
glanced over at your best friend
His eyes were glued to the screen,
tongue sticking slightly out just like it always does when he’s focused on
The light from the monitor flashed
white and Yoosung jerked forward, causing your knees to collide
You felt your face heat up at the
skin on skin connection
“Not now, MC, I think I can win
Yoosung leaned over in front of
you, trying to get a better angle of the screen
You got a whiff of Yoosung’s shampoo and your heart skipped a beat
I don’t know how he smells this good after playing video games all day.
You involuntarily reached out and
ran your fingers through his hair
For a second you though you felt
Yoosung leaning into your touch
But that’s probably my imagination…
The screen flashed again and
Yoosung turned around to look at you
He was still leaning over on your
side, your faces now inches apart
Yoosung gave you a close eyed
…That damn smile.
When you didn’t respond to him,
“What’s wrong, MC?”
You summoned every ounce of
strength you had and closed the gap between his lips and yours
Before Yoosung could react, you
“U-Uhhh,” you looked at Yoosung’s bright
red face, “Congrats on the win?”
Do it!! Tell him how you feel!
It was just another average friend
date with Zen
You, him, a small bistro, hundreds of fans all begging to get a
picture with him
Just a normal day
“Zen, over here!!!”
“Sorry about the flash, I just
HAVE to make sure it’s a good picture.”
“Are you stupid??? ALL of Zen’s pictures are good!”
You turned to look at your friend,
who was soaking up as much of the limelight as possible
He stood up and tapped on his
glass with a fork
“Ladies, ladies, you can all get a picture with your Zenny, just be patient!”
“Since when are you theirs?” you mumbled, crossing your
Zen glanced back at you
Crap, did he hear me?
You gave him a big smile and a
That ought to throw him off his tracks.
Zen turned back to the sea of fans
“I’ll be outside in ten minutes,
so if everyone could make a line outside, that would be perfect!”
In the blink of an eye the
restaurant was empty again, a flood of screaming girls and guys retreating
outside to wait for their prince
A sigh of relief escaped your lips as Zen sat down
“Are you mad at me?”
You looked down at your food and
began messing with it
“Don’t play with your food, MC.”
He sighed, “If you aren’t going to
answer my question I’ll just go outside right now.”
Zen put his hands on the table and
started to push himself up
You grabbed his arm and pulled him
“I’m not mad at you,” you sighed, “I’m
just mad that we never get to spend time together like we used to.”
Zen put his hand on top of yours and
leaned in toward you
“What do you mean? I see you all
the time up at work!!”
You stared at his hand
He’s touching me.
He’s holding my hand.
ZEN is holDING MY FREAKING-
You awkwardly coughed and pulled
your hand away
“Y-Yeah, uh no… what were we
Zen leaned back in his chair
“Never mind… let’s just eat.”
He lifted up his glass of water to
“I love you.”
You pushed away from the table and
“You spit all over my shirt,” you
gestured down to the wet material that clung to your chest, “my WHITE shirt!!’
“W-Well you said that you… you
And all of sudden, the floor
became veryyyyy interesting
I wish I had the power of invisibility…
“MC, look at me.”
While you were contemplating
superpowers, Zen had taken the time to walk over and stand in front of you
“Nah, I think I’m good,” you continued looking down, “the floor
happens to be my favorite shade of… brown.”
A soft and warm hand tilted your
chin up, and your eyes met his scarlet ones
“I love you too.”
You slowly leaned in-
“ZENNY, WE’RE WAITING~”
Zen stepped back and glanced at
the girl peeking through the front door
There was the click of a camera
and a squeal, and she was gone again
Zen scratched the back of his head
“Sorry, I guess it’s-whoa whoa WHOA, what are you doing????
You flung your wet shirt over the
back of the chair and shivered
“Man, this place is kinda cold,”
you looked up and smirked, “then again, I am wearing just a bra.”
You heard a very inhumane noise come from the back of Zen’s throat
“The fans can wait.”
Zen grabbed your wrist and pulled
you into his chest, his lips crashing against yours
The beast was NOT contained that
On your way out of the RFA
building you glanced at your watch
Damn… it’s already 11pm? I stayed waaaaayyyy too late.
When you walked past the break room
you heard the familiar sound of the copy machine clunking turning on
“…damn Jumin and his damn
I wonder if that’s…
“-with his damn cat and the damn
Yup, that’s Jaehee.
You peeked in the room and watched
as she stuffed a stack of papers into the copy tray
She wiped her hands on her skirt
and sat in the chair next to the whirring machine
“You should go talk to her.”
Seven put a hand over your mouth
and pulled you away from the door
Jaehee glanced up and sighed
Seven removed his hand and you
lowered your voice to a whisper
“What the hell do you want?”
He glanced at the breakroom and
then back to you, giving you his famous ‘I have an idea that could go horribly
wrong or perfectly right’ look
“Good luck,” was all he said
before grabbing you and harshly shoving you in the breakroom
But it was too late
In a flash the redhead was gone,
and you were alone with Jaehee
She looked up and smiled
“MC? I didn’t know you were here
so late! It’s nice to have some company.”
You stared at her, unsure of what
Jaehee stood up and stretched,
letting out a tiny yawn
“How much longer does Jumin have
She picked up the warm copies from
the tray and leaned up against the machine
“I just have to run this back to
his office and I’m done! At least, until he inevitably
calls me at midnight asking for more cat food…”
You walked with her to Jumin’s
office, continuing to listen to her rant about his late night antics
When the two of you finally got
there, she plopped the papers in a box outside the door
She glanced over at you
“You wanna go grab some late night
coffee? Since, you know, Jumin should be calling you in about,” you checked
your watch, “30 minutes.”
“Sure!! That’s exactly the pick me
up I need, a nice little frienddate!”
“Yeah, I was thinking-”
“I like you. A lot.”
Jaehee stopped and turned to you
“A-As a friend?”
You stepped closer, “More than a friend.”
Her eyes widened and a deep blush
spread across her cheeks
You felt your heart break in two
She doesn’t feel the same… dammit, this is why you never fall in love with a straight girl.
Tiny hands wrapped around your
own, causing you to look back up
Jaehee had a soft smile spread
across her lips
“Me too… a-about the not friend
Her gripped tightened, “Not that I don’t consider you a friend! I’m just, well, what I’m trying
to say, or rather, what want to say-”
“Would you two KISS ALREADY???”
Both of your heads snapped
in the direction of the voice
“Seven, whyyyyy are you still here?”
“Yeah, he was here earlier when-”
“-When I set you guys up!”
As you and Seven began arguing, Jaehee
looked between the two of you and sighed
She interlocked fingers with you
and pulled you away
“Sorry, Luciel, but we have a date
to get to.”
You stuck your tongue out at him
and he rolled his eyes
“Whatever… have fun you two love
You looked over at Jaehee and
Oh, we will.
Dammit, he closed the blinds.
You rolled your chair closer and angled
your head in an attempt to see into Jumin’s office again
“Peeping tom much?
Zen sighed and leaned up against
“I still don’t understand what you
see in him.”
You rolled your eyes and looked
over at Zen
“You promised you’d be supportive-
“-And I am,” he held up his hands
in surrender, “I just think you could do better.”
“What? Like date you?”
“Well, not that much better.”
Zen smirked and you playfully hit
him in the stomach
Within the next second the two of you burst out laughing
“Wow,” you wiped a tear from your
eye, “I don’t even know why that was so funny.”
“MC,” Jumin’s voice boomed, “Can I
see you in my office?”
Zen raised his eyebrows and pushed
himself off your desk
“Good luck,” he glanced back,
“with him, you’ll need it.”
You rolled your eyes and stood up,
cringing when your knees made a loud pop
Could my body, like, not embarrass me? No? Alllllllrighty.
You walked into the room and Jumin
closed the door behind him
“So, what’s up?”
Jumin turned around and sighed
“I believe some… congratulations
are in order.”
“Did I get a raise?”
Jumin chuckled, taking one big
step toward you
“No, I’m talking about you and
“I’m a little lost… what do you
“Your relationship. Are you not
romantically involved with each other?”
Said that one out loud this time…
You mentally kicked yourself, “Zen
and I are just friends.”
Jumin scratched his chin,
completely lost in thought
You took a deep breath
Here goes everything nothing.
“…I actually have my eye on
Jumin snapped back into reality
“Who? If that, well, if it isn’t
too much to ask.”
“Is it really not Zen?”
Oh my god.
“You know,” you grabbed his tie,
“you’re pretty clueless for a CEO.”
In one gentle tug, your lips
connected with his
After a few seconds, Jumin pulled
“So, it’s me then?”
You shook your head and grinned
“Of course, you-“
Jumin’s lips crashed on to yours
again,his hands cupping your face
And let’s just say you were now very
thankful for the closed blinds
You grabbed the two tools from
“You know, you don’t have to
repeat everything I say.”
“Repeat everything I-OUCH! MC, why’d you kick meeee?”
Seven hugged his shin and hopped
up and down
I’m surprised he has this much energy at 2 in the morning….
You looked back up at Seven, who
had miraculously gotten over his bruised shin and was chugging a can of Dr.
…Who am I kidding, he never sleeps anyways.
It had been about an hour since
Seven called you asking for help fixing his chair
You had gone to the furniture
store IKEA anyone??? with him earlier that day and actually took the time to READ the damn manual
You clapped your hands together
“Wanna test it out?”
Seven gave you a mischievous grin
“Don’t mind if I do!”
Before you knew it, Seven grabbed
your waist and pulled you into his lap, causing both of you to fall back into
It creaked under the combined
weight of you and Seven, but surprisingly remained stable
“Hey, you really did fix it!!”
Seven began spouting off nonsense
about how crappy it was earlier, but you were too busy thinking about the fact
that you were sitting
In his lap
INCHES away from his face
He’s so warm…
“-Plus, it kept making weird
noises! I’m so glad you came over tonight.”
“Uh, earth to MC?? Agent 707
calling, can you read me??”
You shook you head, zoning back in
Seven sighed, relaxing back into
“Thank God Seven you’re okay… I can’t have my best friend dying on me…
literally,” Seven chuckled at his own joke
I love that little laugh.
Seven looked back at you
“What’s on your mind, MC?”
DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD?
Here we go.
“Seven, I like you.”
“You mean,” Seven furrowed his
brows, “You like me, or you like-like
You rolled your eyes, how old is he again??
“You’re so ridiculous.”
Seven looked at you patiently
“I like-like you.”
You felt lips lightly press on the back of your neck
“Well that’s not fair,” Seven
tightened his grip on your waist, “because I love-love you.”
To all the writers who have ever been told they need to outline their story, and privately thought “Great. But how do you DO that? What exactly does that mean?! Is there a map? WHAT IS THE SPECIFIC DEFINITION OF THE VAGUE WORD ‘OUTLINE’?”
Good news. Stories have structure. Structure that can be learned. And a fantastic place to start learning structure?
Save the Cat: The Last Book on Screenwriting You’ll Ever Need by Blake Snyder. This book gives a simple outline that most stories follow. And as an introduction to story structure, it can’t be beat.
In Save the Cat, 15 plot points are spelled out in something called a beat sheet. During the outlining process, these “beats” or plot points can be used as an armature or skeleton that your story is built upon.
So what are those 15 plot points?
Opening Image: A snapshot of the hero’s problematic ordinary world, right before the story starts and changes everything.
Set-Up: Further establishing that ordinary world and what the hero does every day, impressing upon the audience or reader what’s wrong, and the idea that something needs to change.
Theme Stated: The truth that the hero will learn by experiencing the story, the statement that will be proven to the audience. But upon first encountering this truth, in this story beat right in the beginning, the hero doesn’t understand or outright refuses to believe it. The theme stated is asking a question, a question which the story will answer.
Catalyst: The ordinary world is shattered. Something unexpected happens, and this event triggers all the conflict and change of the whole story. Life will never be the same after this moment. This is the Call to Adventure.
Debate: But for a moment, the hero won’t be quite sure about answering that call. Leaving behind the ordinary world is difficult – even if the catalyst has come along and disrupted everything – because the ordinary means safety, it means not being challenged, it means avoiding conflict and heartache. Yes, that existence they’re stuck in might be stagnant and unpleasant, but it protects them from facing the intimidating task of growth, of becoming something better.
Break Into 2: And this is when the hero decides to answer the call and cross the threshold of act two, determined to pursue their goal.
B Story: This is when the relationship – which usually carries and proves the theme – starts in earnest.
Fun & Games: This is just what it says: the premise promised a certain type of pure entertainment, and this beat is where we get to experience it fully.
Midpoint: This is either a false victory or a false defeat. Something really really good happens. Or something the exact opposite.
Bad Guys Close In: Forces of opposition and conflict begin to converge on the hero and his goal. Everything begins to fall apart for the hero, the defeats piling up one after another, the main character punching back.
All Is Lost: This is the sequence where absolutely everything falls apart for the hero. The plans fail, the goal is lost, the mentor dies, the villain wins. All is, quite literally, lost.
Dark Night of the Soul: The hero’s bleakest moment is right here. In addition to all of the tangible things that have been lost, hope and the gumption to continue with the story have also vanished. There is usually a hint of death here, of some kind. An actual death, or an emotional or spiritual death.
Break into 3: Ah, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Inspiration occurs, hope is rekindled, courage to pursue the story returns. Usually, this is the moment where the main character learns what they NEED, the truth which will heal them, and allow them to fix their own lives. With this, they are able to snatch victory from defeat.
Finale: And in here, the story goal is pursued once more, but this time from the stronger version of the hero – the version that has learned the theme, and committed to act accordingly.
Closing Image: The opposite of the opening image. This is a snapshot of life after the story, the problems of the ordinary world solved or banished, a new world opening up for the hero. If the opening is the equivalent of “once upon a time” this is saying “And every day after … “
So let’s see how that works! And to see it, let’s look at my favorite short film of all time – Paperman (because this gave me an excuse to watch it several times and listen to the music while writing it.)
1) Opening Image
We see George, a twenty-something in a sixty-something’s suit and tie, obviously on his way to work, and not looking at all enthused about it. He stares straight ahead, expression bored, lifeless, right on the edge of depressed. Wind from a passing train pushes him slightly, and he lets it, demeanor unchanging.
But then a sheet of paper, caught on the wind, hits his shoulder. The paper flies off again, and a young woman appears onscreen, chasing after the paper, as the surprised George watches.
After catching it offscreen, the girl returns, tucking the paper into the stack she carries, smiling slightly. They both face forward, waiting for the train side-by-side, in silence. She’s glancing sideways at him, he’s smiling and fidgeting nervously, but still resolutely facing forward; they’re both aware of each other, seemingly hoping the other will be braver, but neither able to overcome their shyness and the unspoken rules of everyday life.
3) Theme Stated
As a train charges into the station, a paper from George’s stack is snatched by the wind and lands flat on the woman’s face. When he pulls the paper away, she laughs: her lipstick left a perfect kiss mark on the sheet. When George spots it, he laughs too …
but when he opens his eyes, she’s gone. She’s boarded a different train. The kiss-mark paper flaps in the wind as the train begins to move, taking her away. He watches, crestfallen. She glances back. Looks of regret and disappointment are exchanged, both a little wistful. The paper, the symbol of their fleeting memorable meeting, waves goodbye.
Through this little sequence of images, the question of the whole story is asked: Was there a connection between them? Will they find each other again? And on a wider level: What does it take to find love?
And cut to George behind a desk, in a gray office, dark file cabinets towering behind him, clocks on the wall ticking away his life. Miserable again, he stares at the lipsticked paper. A stack of documents slams onto the desk from on high. The grim-faced boss of the office scowls down at him. George frowns at the stack, then at his boss, who stomps away.
Breeze pulls the kissed paper off his desk and out the open window. He catches it just in time, breathing a sigh of relief. And then he sees something. The girl! She’s there! She’s right across the street!
He needs to get her attention! He dithers for a moment, then throws the window wide and enthusiastically waves his arms.
An ominous "ahem” from the boss brings him back inside, and back to his desk. But his attention is still on the girl, and the need to get her attention. He folds a paper airplane, stands before the window, poises the airplane to fly … but he glances at his boss’s office before he throws it. Should he?
6) Break Into Act 2
Yes. Yes, he should. He sends the little airplane messenger to bridge the distance between himself and the girl.
7) B Story
What he should have done while waiting for the train, he’s committed to do now. Talk to her. The relationship of the story has started officially.
8) Fun & Games
In this moment, he becomes the “paper man” of the title. He folds and throws paper airplane after paper airplane. The boss shows up, shoves him back and slams his window. George pauses until he’s gone, then just keeps sending airplanes. They sail over the street, but are intercepted or miss their mark every time.
He reaches for more paper … and knocks an empty tray off the desk. He’s run out. Except for one paper, the kissed one, the only one he’s held onto. With a determined look, he folds it precisely into an airplane, stands before the window, breathes to steady himself …
And the wind steals the airplane from his hand, sending it spiraling to the street below, George reaching out pointlessly. On top of this defeat, the girl leaves the office.
10) Bad Guys Close In
Immediately, the boss emerges from his lair. The other office workers hurriedly return to their scribbling, hunched to avoid drawing attention. The girl is leaving the building across the street! George turns from the window … and finds the boss looming above him, glowering, delivering another tall pile of meaningless work.
George sinks into his chair, defeated. But something happens as he watches his boss walk away, as he sees the office workers in neat rows; all of them older versions of George, reflections of what he will become … if he doesn’t do something right now.
He runs, sending paper from the perfect stacks flying in his wake.
11) All Is Lost
But when he escapes the building, and attempts to cross the street, cars nearly kill him. And when he finally makes it to the opposite sidewalk, the girl is nowhere in sight. She’s lost again.
And all he manages to find is the little traitorous paper airplane. The paper he’d believed might mean something, might have signified something important and maybe a little magical. Which it obviously never did.
12) Dark Night of the Soul
Angry, he grabs the plane and throws it with all his strength. He’s lost his job, he’s lost the girl, he’s lost all faith in the magic he’d just started to believe might be real. He stomps towards the train station, returning home.
13) Break Into 3
But fate has other plans. The airplane glides over the city, almost supernaturally graceful and purposeful. It dives between buildings, and lands in the middle of the alley where all the paper planes have collected.
It sits immobile. Then it moves. Moves again. And jumps into flight. The airplane flies over the rest, stirring them into motion, into the air. In a place where not even a breath of wind could reach, there is now a whirlwind of George’s airplanes.
Though the forces of mediocrity tried to keep them apart, something greater has recognized George’s efforts and is going to see things through.
A parade of airplanes follows George down the street.
The leader attaches to his leg. He brushes it off, mad. A flurry of them attach to him, then carry him down the street, unfazed by his fighting.
The leader airplane rockets over the city purposefully, finds the girl, then lures her to follow.
She chases after.
Somewhere else in the city, George is being pushed wherever the paper airplanes want him to go. We switch back and forth between George and the girl, as the airplanes push him and beckon her.
Until they’re both on different trains, which stop simultaneously, on opposite sides of the platform. The girl gets out. She fiddles with the airplane, like she’s trying to get it to work again. And just then, a breeze brings hundreds of paper planes skittering all around the platform.
She looks up …
15) Closing Image
And there’s George, covered in paper planes.
He lurches towards Meg, and the airplanes falls away, their work done.
George and Meg face each other, smiling, the barriers of routine and shyness overcome. Exactly what should have happened, exactly what was meant to happen. Putting effort into connection and love prevailed in the end, defeating the allure of life spent in safety and mediocrity. The closing image is the opposite of the opening: he’s not alone, he’s not facing the train leading to his mundane job, he’s not looking miserable and hopeless. He’s facing the girl, his bright and meaningful new future.
So! Those are the 15 plot points. This is a fantastic way to begin learning what story structure is, why it works the way it does, and how to precisely pull it off.
For a more in-depth explanation, I highly recommend picking up a copy of Save the Cat. (It holds a special place in my heart; it was the first screenwriting book I ever read, and started obsessive study of storytelling.)
“What the fuck?!” Potter threw up his hands and then promptly jammed them in his hair. He stopped his pacing and stared at the archway where a door had been about… -Draco idly cast a tempus- an hour ago. Apparently, Potter had been driven to distraction simply by the idea of sharing a space with him and was flirting with a level of mania that made Draco quite uncomfortable.
Draco laced his hands together in his lap, uncrossing his legs and recrossing them the other way. He was expecting Potter to start throwing spells again if he kept to the pattern he had established so far. Hopefully, he would cast something that would rebound and turn him into something quiet, like a rabbit.
Potter spun toward him though, “Why aren’t you upset!” he snapped.
Draco raised an eyebrow, “It seems to me you’re doing a good enough job for the both of us.”
“Can I talk to you?” You asked Jimin calmly as you entered the exquisite dining room, he was sat at the head of the large table, every man in the manor house surrounding him as he briefed them with the upcoming plan of action.
“Sure.” Your brother smiled, sliding his chair back with his legs as he stood up, his warning gaze flitting between Jungkook and Taehyung, who sat either side of him eyeing you curiously. “Minho you can take it from here.”
Today was the day Jimin planned to kill Hoseok, if anything you should’ve been proud of your brother for being so brazen and bold, but you couldn’t shake away the bad feeling captivating your body. Heading up the stairs to Jimin’s office you quickly and quietly made you way inside and sat down, Jimin in tow. He sat across from you, his once shiny silver hair now beginning to darken into his natural brown/black colour, his bangs lightly grazing the contours of his hooded, dark chocolate eyes.
“What’s this about? Did somebody hurt you?” He asked, brows knitted together curiously as his gaze settled upon your worried expression and the fact you were fidgeting with your sleeves.
“No, it’s just-“ Even though you promised Sung you wouldn’t say anything, you had to confront him, you had to make sure he was 100% certain he knew what he was doing, and after what happened to Jin you knew better than anybody that Hoseok was a dangerous, psychotic man. “I know about the attack… And I just want to make sure that you know what you’re doing…”
Requested by @derangedangel : Imagine request :) Reader
is the same age as Scott & the others but has a crush on Derek & is
always flirting with him but Derek doesn’t reciprocate those feelings because
of the age difference. But reader is in it for the “long game.” Like
a GMW Maya & Josh situation. A few years later reader comes back &
Derek likes her back. Thanks :D
Y/N couldn’t keep
her lips from forming into a smirk as she saw Derek’s picture appear on her
phone. She had just moved back to Beacon Hills earlier today into her new
apartment. She had spent most of the day unpacking her boxes, and was already
in bed watching a movie on her laptop. She quickly swiped her thumb across the
phone and answered. “Hello, stranger. It’s after midnight. No guy ever
calls a girl after midnight except for one-"
Derek interrupted followed by a loud growl. Y/N could hear Derek’s heartbeat
going crazy and his labored breathing. What caught her attention was hearing
another heartbeat. “I need you."
His voice was
filled with worry, which caused Y/N to sit up straight in her bed alarmed.
"Derek, where are you?”
know…” he whispered unexpectedly. He no longer sounded like he was in
pain or fighting against someone. He now sounded weak and hurt.
need you to talk to me. What do you see?” She asked as she quickly got out
of bed to get dressed.
see anything…” he mumbled. She rushed as she heard his heartbeat getting
weaker by the second.
She swallowed hard
as she closed her eyes, letting a tear fall down her cheek. She was absolutely
terrified for him. “Derek… I’m going to come and get you, okay? But I
need to call Stiles to help me. Can you answer the phone if I call you
“My phone… is
going to die…”
She whispered to herself. She put on her shoes as an idea crossed her mind.
“After you hang up with me, turn off your phone and save the battery for
about 10 minutes. That’ll be about the time it will take me to get to Stiles’
office at the police station. I’ll call you back but you have to answer,
kay…” he mumbled weakly.
Her voice trembled. He hummed a small ‘yes’. “Please answer the
promise,” he said before he hung up and turned off his phone like he was
told to do.
Y/N grabbed her
keys before rushing to her car. Her fingers trembled as she dialed Stiles’
number. For some strange reason a flashback flooded her mind to the first time
she went to Stiles for help with Derek.
okay but i still think about how Will actually fucking let himself into hannibal's house in season 1 and threw his coat down and he is still fucking alive. Hanni puts up with a lot of shit for him
Will is literally allowed to do anything Hannibal doesn’t care like
whatever Will throw your shit wherever I don’t care because the jacket is off and I now have an unobstructed view of the booty I don’t care tear down the drapes rip up my drawings rearrange my furniture juST FUCK ME UP WILL
Meanwhile that time in season 2 when Mason had the audacity to leave his jacket on the lounge when he took his seat:
Hannibal was quite possibly more offended than that time Franklyn put his used tissue on the table beside him.
Also Will is allowed to do this, just casually settle in behind Hannibal’s desk, in his chair, while I’m pretty sure Mason was almost murdered for having the audacity to do the same thing
And yes okay he put his feet on the desk which is super rude BUT
Will can literally SIT ON HANNIBAL’S DESK AND HE DOESN’T EVEN BAT AN EYE like i’m pretty sure Will could come into his office and just casually gut the fish he caught that day on his desk and Hannibal would just sit there making gooey eyes at him and loving every single second of it.
Could you do an imagine where the reader is J’s girlfriend & she’s cute & needy & heavily into the Daddy kink & it drives him crazy (not able to focus on work) then rough smut happens thxx
Oh how boring a day could be. J was stuck in his office trying to work as I wandered around the penthouse with absolutely nothing to do. The tv was on, but I gave up trying to find something interesting to watch. Maybe I could talk him through and so we could go out for a drive around the city or something? Being alone was the worst.
‘’Daddy!’’ I whined as soon as I opened his office door.He was sitting on his big leather chair and facing down to some papers. Didn’t even raise his eyes. ‘’Daddy I’m bored’’I told him and walked further into the room. I was wearing his purple button up shirt as my only clothing right now which was something he usually liked.
‘’Go bother Frost or something, I’m busy’’ He mumbled and then grabbed a new paper. I crossed my arms and decided to give this man a break from planning so many crimes. ‘’Come on..We could do something else daddy’’ I winked and leaned against his desk. I knew this was risky, but man I had nothing else to do either. J looked up to me and saw what I was wearing. ‘’Baby girl, daddy is working. I’m coming later’’ He tried to say calmly, but I knew I was getting onto something.
‘’Ooh that’s a pretty pen’’ I chirped and took his pen from his hand. It was a normal black pen, but I had to get it away from him. ‘’Give it back’’ He demanded and reached out his palm for me. ‘’I don’t think so. You should take a break ‘’ I smiled and then put the pen in the pocket of his shirt that I was wearing. His eyes grew darker and I knew I was pissing him off.
‘’Y/N I swear to god I need it’’He growled and stood up. Yes. ‘’Come and get it daddy’’ I encouraged him and walked backwards as he came closer. He clenched his jaw and his breathing got husky. He gave me a dark look and then saw a wall nearby. Before I knew it, I was pinned against the wall and J was in front of me. Our eyes met and I saw how full of lust his were. ‘’That’s a start. At least you got your bum off of that chair’’ I chirped happily. He put a finger on my lips and took a deep breath.
‘’I’m really trying to work baby, but you’re making it hard for me’’ J growled with a very serious tone. Just what I wanted to hear. ‘’Sorry. There’s nothing to do so I wanted to come and see you daddy’’ I pouted and then used that one word that always drove him insane. ‘’You know you shouldn’t interrupt me’’ the corners of his mouth curved into a smile. I nodded to let him know that I knew I was breaking the rules.
‘’Such a bad bad girl’’ He whispered darkly and licked his lips. ‘’Sorry daddy’’ I apologized, but I didn’t mean it at all. I knew I was about to get him over the edge. ‘’Careful’’ He warned me and pointed at me with his long finger. ‘’For what?’’ I grinned and then he murmured something under his breath. He was trying to stay calm, but I wasn’t allowing that to happen. ‘’Let’s do something’’ I sighed and pulled his shirt. ‘’You keep misbehaving over and over again. I think someone needs to be punished’’ He suddenly noted and grabbed my wrist.
His eyes darkened and I knew he was angry that I got him away from work. Suddenly he started walking back to the desk and pulled my wrist and forced me to follow him. I tried to contain my excitement as he finally decided to do something. J pushed me against the flat surface and then lifted the hem of the shirt I was wearing so my bum was visible for him.
‘’How many do you think that you deserve, hm?’’ He nearly growled and put his other hand on my back. ‘’I don’t know daddy.. 3?’’ I suggested innocently and fluttered my eyelashes at him. He just chuckled and my suggestion. ‘’You haven’t been that good. I think it’s more like 10′’ He thought out loud and rubbed the skin softly. I knew that his spanks were hard, but I had a weird pain kink, just like the daddy kink that turned us both on.
Then out of the blue he slapped his palm against my ass, making me gasp in surprise. A stinging pain took over, but it was replaced my pleasure. ‘’Count’’ J demanded and then spanked me again. ‘’2′’ I moaned out and held onto the edge of the desk. ‘’Oh..you like this don’t you?’’ He questioned me with a husky voice and slapped my bum cheeks. ‘’3..’’ I whimpered and ignored his question. He was making me extremely wet now. 4..5..6..7..8, all in a row and it made me yell out. My eyes got teary, but I still kept a smile on my face.
‘’Oh you’re such a bad girl Y/N’’ He let me know. ‘’I can’t help it daddy’’ I defended myself and deserved a harder spank, making me groan. ‘’9′’ I muttered and prepared myself for one more. J knew that i got impatient easily. So he waited just to be a damn tease. ‘’You won’t be able to walk tomorrow so you can’t walk in and distract me’’ He warned me with a low voice. Just as I opened my mouth to speak, he spanked me one last time time and caused me to yell out his name.
‘’10′’ I added quickly and then let out a big breath. I heard as he unbuckled his belt, but I didn’t turn to look because I didn’t want to misbehave more. Suddenly he ripped off the shirt from me and threw it somewhere on the floor. ‘’You’re so naughty baby girl..’’ He whispered and then pushed himself into me with no warning. My lips parted and my eyes nearly rolled out of my head from the sudden pleasure.
He put his hands on my waist and then started to pound in and out of my soft wet walls. J held onto me so tightly that I was sure it would leave visible marks. ‘’Yes Daddy!’’ I cried out and gritted my teeth. His movements were rough and harsh, showing no mercy at all. The sudden roughness hurt, but it also felt so good that I wished this bittersweet pleasure would stay forever.
J grunted in pleasure and thrusted his length so deep I could nearly feel him in my tummy. I could nearly see stars. His hand found my hair and he tugged it a little so I had to lean closer to him with my back, supporting my weigh with my arms. He kept fucking me hard from behind, but soon I felt his lips on my neck. ‘’Are you still bored?’’ he breathed out and smled dirtily. I could barely breathe because I kept moaning and crying out in raw pleasure. My heart was beating faster as adrenaline pumped through my body. ‘’N-No..’’ I stuttered quietly.
‘’No ,what?’’ He growled and gave me a hard thrust, making my body jump a little and I cursed out a few curse words. ‘’No daddy’’ I let him know and then gulped. It pleased his dirty mind to hear that. An orgasm was forming rapidly and I knew that he wouldn’t stop until he came, not caring about my orgasm. This was my punishment. I’d either be lucky and come at the same time, or then he’d make me come and keep thrusting his big cock in my sensitive cunt, making the pleasure way more intense and overwhelming.
‘’You’re close’’ You whispered and felt my walls pulsing on him. I gritted my teeth and tried to hold back the orgasm that was building up. Knowing J, he’d do anything to make me come now. I wasn’t wrong either. His other hand touched my clit and he started rubbing it roughly, making my legs shake. ‘’Daddy..please I-I can’t-’’ I whimpered quietly ,but it was useless. He was so rough that it brought me over the edge quickly.
My orgasm came without a warning, sending a wave of pleasure through my body. I shut my eyes for a while as I tried to gather myself, but I could feel my juices leaking down my leg.
My legs kept shaking wildly as J fucked my tightened walls. He was moaning deeply and soon I felt his teeth sinking into my shoulder as he bit me. The pleasure was too much. I was moaning uncontrollably and I could barely hold onto the table anymore.
His thrusts got sloppier and I knew he was close now. ‘’Cum inside me’’ I encouraged him even tho I could barely talk. Only seconds later I felt his cum filling me up, as he came. I breathed out shakily and was allowed to breathe for a moment. J moaned my name which was the sexiest thing I have ever heard. It made me so happy that I was able to make him feel good.
Even tho he was punishing me for being so misbehaving.
J pulled out and I felt how his warm cum ran down my leg along with my arousal. I bit my bottom lip and tried to calm down from the rough sex. I knew for sure that I would be sore tomorrow. ‘’Are you happy now?’’ J asked me and walked in front of me, taking a seat on his chair. His green hair was a mess and his skin was sweaty from fucking me like there was no limit. The after sex-glow suited him.
‘’Mmhm’’ I mumbled a yes and then tried to stand up, being completely naked in front of him. J had pulled up his pants and he was obviously going to continue working. ‘’How about you take a bath? I’ll join you in five’’ He promised and then grabbed a new pen from his desk. A bath sounded amazing. Ooh especially with a bathbomb.
‘’See you then’’ I smiled tiredly and then tried to walk out of his office. I felt his eyes on me as I struggled to walk in a straight line. All I could hear was him laughing at me, but I didn’t mind. It was kinda amusing.
“That storm is pretty bad.” You glance out the window and can’t help but agree. Hurricane Renee had been on the news for days, and now that she had hit, she seemed determined to live up to her name.
Unfortunately for you, this meant that your seven children were cooped up inside. The manor had become a complete mess between various board games, and one or two games of extreme hide and seek.
So far, the casualties included a chandelier, a Ming vase, two of Bruce’s golf clubs, and Alfred’s blender. You’d left your children to the mercy of the butler and retreated to the library to find Helena staring out the window.
Your daughter was a daddy’s girl and had been from day one. She was fierce, tough and outspoken, and she hated storms with a passion. More often than not, lightning and thunder filled nights found her in your bed with you and Bruce.
Hurricanes seemed to be even worse. The usually rambunctious girl was sullen, and more than a little pouty. This was proved even further when she snuggled up to you. Dick, Jason, and Cass were your snugglers. Helena preferred her personal space.
Never one to pass up an opportunity, you pull the girl close. Kissing the top of her head you say, “Don’t worry baby girl, Daddy will be home soon.”
She sighs, “I hate business trips.”
You smile, “You and me both.”
“This was a long one.”
You nod. Two weeks was a long time for Bruce to be gone. Typically, he skyped conferences, went only for a few days, or took the family with him. That hadn’t been an option this time.
When midnight comes and goes without any word, you start to get anxious. Bruce’s plane had landed before the storm had really started. The closing off of streets had kept him from coming straight home, but he had still called to check in. But now, he wasn’t answering his phone and that worried you more than a little.
You’re brought out of your thoughts when someone yells, “Code green.”
Pushing your husband to the back of your mind, you spring out of your office chair and towards the clock. You turn the hands to your anniversary date, and make your way down to the cave. You find your Dick, Jason, and Cass suiting up, and raise an eyebrow in question, “And where exactly do you think you’re going?”
Dick’s face is straight laced, serious as can be. A perfect imitation of Bruce’s. “The Riddler has cut power to the entire city. He’s offered a challenge, if someone can issue a challenge that can stump him, he’ll turn the power back on.”
You bite your lip, before issuing your orders, “You’re not going out there alone.”
You watch Dick’s and Jason’s eyes go wide, “Mom!” You listen as Tim turns in the computer chair to face you. You take a deep breath, “I said alone. Call in Wally and Barry.”
You see Jason hesitate, “Dad …”
“Isn’t here. You’re not going out there without a League member. Hell, I’ll call in Superman himself before I let you go out there alone. I know you’ve been doing this for years, but I’m still your mother. I have my limits.”
It takes half an hour for the speedsters to arrive. Even then, you’re left with a queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach. You watch them go before taking over Tim’s chair.
You’d spent less and less time in the cave as the boys had gotten older. You imagined, you’d spend even less time there as your children got older. Tim would soon become the next Robin, his training was almost done, and then Helena and Damian would take over. Eventually, Terry would start his training, and that broke your heart. Your last baby was growing up, and it made you want to cry.
It’s a long night. A very long night, with more close calls than you care to admit. By the time dawn breaks, the storm is still going strong, but your kids are back home. You tend to the cuts and bruises before sending them to bed.
You’re on your fifth cup of coffee when you get a call from the hospital. There’s been an accident with your husband, and you’re needed. Now. You’re certain that your heart stops at the words.
One look out the window tells you that you’re not getting anywhere right now. Between the winds, the flooding, and the damage from Riddler’s attack, you’re stuck. You’re forced to wait two days, before going to the hospital, alone.
You arrive at Gotham general looking a mess. And you’re certain that at least one paparazzi had taken your picture. Still, you walk through the hospital with the authority of someone who’s family has donated enough money to build two new wings.
You find your husband sleeping in the waiting room. He’s wearing scrubs of all things, and sprawled across several chairs. So of course, you hit him. He startles awake and stares at you while you rant, “How dare you Bruce Wayne. Not one freaking phone call. Not one. I thought you were dead in the morgue, or lying here in a coma. But no, I find you hear dressed as though you just performed surgery. I have been worried sick.
“I lied to our children. I said that you called, that you were stuck at the airport. How DARE YOU!”
Bruce takes it all in stride, before pulling you in for a hug. He holds you while you cry, and says “I’m so sorry. They only had time for one emergency call, and I thought I asked them to tell you that I am okay. I am so sorry.”
You take deep breaths to calm yourself, before asking “What happened Bruce? Why are you in a hospital?”
He wipes his hands over his face, “I was driving home, when there was an accident. Someone spun out on the road, crashing into me before spinning into another car. The driver, and two passengers were killed. There was one other survivor. A twelve-year-old boy, his name is Duke. I was able to get him out, and get an ambulance out but there was nothing they could do for his parents, or the driver. I couldn’t leave him alone.”
You sink down beside him, “What are you thinking Bruce?”
He stares at you, “How would you feel about having and eighth kid?”
Anonymous said:Can you do a story where the reader is going out with mr j and she wonders off in a club and a group of guys harass her and she’s innocent and just scared and Mr j goes crazy and protects her and just yea that’d be amazing and some Mr j fluff in it 😜
J and you were at his club, trying to have a good time after a stressful week. It was Saturday night so the place was absolutely packed! ‘’I’m gonna grab a drink’’ You told your boyfriend and stood up from his lap. He slapped your bum gently just so the other man around saw that you were his and they would better not touch you. ‘’Be back soon or I’ll miss ya’’ He winked cheesily as you walked off.
It took a little while to get to the bar while avoiding drunk people. Just as you sat down on a bar stool and patiently waited for the bartender’s so come to you when they’re finished, some guys sat around you. It was strange that J fell for you because most of the time you were nice and kind. But sometimes your head just got all messed up and you could do awful things, but that was rare.
The man leaned towards you and one even stood behind you so you couldn’t escape. ‘’Hi sexy’’ One of them with a dirty smile winked. He had messy hair and alcohol on his shirt. They all stunk like ass. ‘’I have a boyfriend’’ You defended yourself and nervously tapped your fingers on the counter.’’Oh he doesn’t have to know. Let’s have some fun!’’ Another one chuckled and touched your back. Your breath hitched in your throat and you got nervous.
‘’Leave me alone’’ You tried to warn them. After all if they would continue, J would kill them - no doubt. ‘’Don’t be fucking boring’’ The same voice said again and suddenly you were pulled off of the chair. The men practically dragged you away from the bar, making you so panicked that you forgot what self-defence was. ‘’H-Hey!’’ You tried to yell, but the music was so loud that your voice drowned in it. Suddenly you were pressed against the wall harshly and you hit your head.
‘’I bet you have such a tight little cunt’’One of them said, but you were so scared that you couldn’t recognize who the voice belonged to. Your heart stammered in your chest and you wanted to cry. A hand touched your inner thigh and that’s when you felt tears stinging your eyes. ‘’Let me go!’’ You insisted and desperately tried to yank yourself free from their strong arms, but it was useless.
The hand rose and touched the lining of your panties, making the tears fall from your eyes. ‘’Stop!’’ You begged and wondered how no one saw this? On the other hand the three were towering above you, making it hard to see you. Before they could do anything else, you heard at least three gunshots and the person right in front of you, the one touching you, fell onto the floor. The other two stood there and turned white as sheets when they saw their friend dead.
Joker had noticed this and come to your rescue.
‘’Walk away baby this won’t be pretty’’ He growled and you saw two of his henchmen behind him. Two other henchmen walked up to the rest of the harassers and they were held tightly, not allowed to escape. Fear sunk into their faces and they knew they had fucked up real bad.
You walked away from the wall and watched you step so you wouldn’t step on the dead man. Tears gushed down your eyes and you were trembling. J nodded to his henchman Frost who then put his arm on your shoulder in a comforting way. Suddenly J walked up to the guy that had been on yout left side. ‘’You did something really dumb’’ J growled in his face madly. The people around you knew what was going on, but no one dared to step in whatsoever.
‘’I-I’m sorry!’’ The man cried out in pure fear, but sorry wasn’t enough. Joker kneed his crotch and a painful yelp escaped his lips. J repeated the action and horror grew on the other guy’s face. You watched as he started beating the guy like a maniac as the henchman hold the guy. ‘’No one..’’ J started and held onto his jaw tightly. ‘’..disrespects my queen like that!’’ He finished angrily and punched the man straight in the face and I could hear his nose breaking. It made me sick in the stomach.
A sob made Frost look at you again. You covered your mouth with your hands and tried to stay calm, but you were still shocked. Everything happened so fast. You felt disgusting since the guy had touched you there. ‘’Frost do me a favour and take her to my office. I bet she doesn’t want to see the rest’’ J sighed and faced you with his back, clothed with a golden jacket. Frost replied with a ‘’yes sir’’ and then started walking away with you beside him. People stepped out of the way as Frost took me towards the hall where there was an elevator.
As soon as you two got in the elevator, silence fell over. Tears were ruining your make-up and I kept trembling. ‘’I’m sorry miss’’ Frost apologized softly. He was one of J’s most trusted men so you had talked to him a lot. You just nodded and then wiped away some tears which was useless. The doors slid open and you walked to the left until you were behind a black door. ‘’J’s r-really mad’’You whimpered and sat down on a big chair that was in J’s office. Frost nodded shortly.
‘’He flipped the table when he was told what was going on’’ Frost let you know. You looked at him silently. J really cared about you which was weird. Why? ‘’Do you want anything? Water?’’ Frost suggested and saw how uncomfortable you looked. ‘’No thanks’’ You mumbled and then bit the inside of your cheek to hold back cries.
A few minutes later the door opened and J walked back. His clothes were bloody and his knuckles were already bruising. He seemed pissed as hell. When he saw you sitting there, he hurried to you.
‘’Oh baby..’’ He breathed out and put his warm hands on your arms and then got on his knees in front of you. He seemed relieved to see you there after beating people up. You put your hand on his and tried to stay calm. ‘’Thanks Frost’’ J muttered and a second later he walked out, leaving you two alone. That’s when tears started to run down your cheeks again.’’Oh baby..don’t you cry..They can’t do anything to you anymore’’ He promised and gathered himself. He picked you up and then sat on the chair and placed you on his lap.
‘’I’m sorry..I-I don’t know what happened..’’ You whimpered, still scared of the situation. J wrapped his arms around you softly. ‘’Shh..It’s not your fault’’ He reminded you with a calmer voice and started rubbing your back gently like you were as fragile as a feather. You nuzzled closer to him and then his scent calmed you down. You were safe with him.
It had been a week since Yoongi’s party at Pearl, an entire seven days since your father had disappeared into thin air; and a whole one hundred and sixty eight hours since your brother decided to call the police, regardless of the anonymous threats. As much as you loved Yoongi you couldn’t shake the bad feeling away from your figure, the text message had very clear instructions. Don’t show the police, or people will die. And with your dad still missing it was impossible not to entertain the idea.
“Y/N? Hello? Are you in here?” Maggie, the Exhibit gossip forum’s editor in chief and your overall boss, flicked your forehead with her perfectly manicured bubblegum pink nails to regain your attention.
“I’m so sorry… What were you saying?” You hummed in an attempt to salvage the embarrassing situation, you had no idea what she was talking to you about, truth be told you didn’t even realise she was there until her acrylic nail was leaving behind a small indentation on your skin.
“The threatening mystery texts, your dad’s disappearance! It’s all just dreadful… Will you run it?” She hollowed her thin cheeks out until you could see a map of her high cheekbones as she raised her brows expectantly.
There was no denying she was beautiful, she had rich dark brown flawless skin and her hair was shaved short and dyed red, her winged eyeliner was sharp enough to cut someone and her fashion choices were beyond Lady Gaga’s wildest imagination. But unfortunately for her you saw right through her fur coats and fake personality, she was the head cheerleader who never grew up; she was a bitch.
“Wait so you want me to run the story… About my missing dad? And include the anonymous messages?” You paraphrased eyes wide with shock, dumbfounded by her complete lack of human decency.
