I sighed gently as I unlocked the door to my shared home with Chris, slowly. Today had been such a shit show for me. All my co-workers had been assholes to me, my boss had decided piling extra work onto my plate would be lovely, and almost everyone thought dragging me around was fun. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris decided to take a dig at me too.

After all it was national hate on Y/N day. Why wouldn’t he want to get in on it?

I dropped my keys into our little key bowl before pulling off my heels and then heading in the direction of the living room, quietly.

Maybe…. If I just laid down in bed for like the next year it would make all of this less real. But, death was always another option here. I mean… really it’s just an easy way out.

I paused in the living room doorway, as I heard Chris’ voice sound softly through the room.

“Dodger, come on. Serious time.”

I smiled slightly as I rested my head against the doorframe and watched Dodger and Chris together.

Dodger barked and looked up at Chris with one of his goofy doggie smiles.

“So, pal… About Y/N…”

I frowned slightly at the mention of my name. Today had already taken a huge toll on me, and if Chris was about to tell Dodger about something horrible he’s been keeping from me…. Well, I would, most definitely, break.

“I was thinking… Is it too soon to settle down with her? I mean… I love her. I love her so much, and I’m ready and willing to give up whatever I have to, in order to spend the rest of my life with her. She’s everything I could ever ask for… And she’s more than I’d ever deserve. But…. I’m scared, ya know? What if she says no?!”

“You never know unless you ask.”

Chris sighed gently, “I know, buddy, but - Wait!”

I chuckled as Chris looked over at me with wide eyes, “You’re home from work?! Oh, wow, I …You heard all of that?”

I smiled and walked over to the two of them, “Yes and I want you to know…. If you ask nicely, you might just get a yes.”

Chris chuckled and stood up from the ground, standing in front of me, “Might?”

I shrugged with a playful smirk gracing my lips, “Well, haven’t you ever heard of playing hard to get?”

Chris laughed, before he got down on one knee and pulled out a satin, little, blue box, “Y/N (Y/M/N) Y/L/N, you mean the world to me… If I’m honest you are my world. There’s no place I’d rather be at, and no one I’d rather be with than with you. Would you do me the honor, of spending the rest of your life with me, as my wife?”

I smiled and nodded, “Yes! Of course!”

Chris grinned and slid the ring - Disney inspired obviously - onto my finger, before standing up fully and spinning me around in a hug.

“I love you so much.”

I chuckled and wrapped my arms around his neck, “I love you too. And this ring… It’s gorgeous.”

Chris smirked and pressed his lips to mine softly, “Only the best, for my princess.”

Dodger barked up at us causing Chris to laugh loudly, “Sorry bud. What do you say we play some fetch? Yeah?”

I smiled at the pair of them and couldn’t help but think about how great the rest of my life would be, having the two of them around.

Maybe… Today wasn’t that bad after all.
