Fun Fact

See the doggie tissue box behind Victor? Doesn’t it look familiar?

Victor’s poodle tissue box was inspired by Yuzuru Hanyu’s Pooh Tissue Box!

For those of you who don’t know the backstory on this beautiful tissue box: Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu always had a miniature pooh bear along with his tissue boxes during his junior days, 2009-2010 season. Then a simple pooh cover with tissues coming out of his nose was introduced in the 2010-2011 season. Then finally, the Pooh tissue box was born in the 2011-2012 season and they have been inseparable ever since. Most of the times, Pooh is seen beside Yuzuru’s coach cheering him on in every competition outside the rink. Funny fact to go along with it, when Yuzu moved to Toronto, his coach Brian Orser stated in an interview, that when he saw Yuzuru, he said, “I always thought he was that weird kid with the Winnie the pooh doll. Now I’m that kid’s coach…and I have to carry it.”

IN CONCLUSION, YUZU X POOH = TRUE FRIENDSHIP

Yuri!!! on Ice Head Canons ;)

On the ice…

- Victor and Yuri watching Yurio practice. They give him lots of tips. Which he complains about bitterly but secretly is very grateful for.

- Victor randomly picking up Yurio during practice.

- Yuri and Yurio training under Lilia together. Yurio laughing at Yuri who is now having to train 10 times harder in ballet. Lilia forcing Yurio to do all the exercises with Yuri as punishment for laughing.

- Yuri and Yurio going to get hot chocolate after practice.

- Victor playing around on the ice. Yakov shouting from the sideline for him to focus.

- Victor blowing kisses to Yuri sitting on the bleachers.

- Yuri watching Victor practice his new routines. When Victor misses a jump Yuri holds the doggie tissue box tighter. Just before Victor finishes up he walks down to the ice rink and leans on the banister. Victor comes over and they hug staying like that for a good few minutes.

- Victor hugging Yuri from behind as Yakov gives them all a lecture.

- Yuri and Victor practicing their ice dancing routine failing a lift then laughing about it.

- Yurio complaining Yuri and Victor have a PDA problem. Yuri arguing otherwise while he tries to stop Victor from showering him in kisses. Yakov gave up trying with those two.

-Yuri sitting on Victors lap on the bleachers as they go through his new routine

- Victor and Yuri going to the ice rink after hours to practice their ice dancing routine alone.  Yurio and Mila sneaking in to watch them.

- All the quick kisses Yuri and Victor share when they are on the ice.

Things I am proud of as an American:

  • the odd sense of nationalism whenever someone says the word “America”
  • the portion sizes in the restaurants, and the fact that they give you boxes and doggy bags because they know you probs won’t finish your food anyways
  • the ideal of free speech
  • there are six time zones
  • you can drive for over 9 hours in California in a straight line and still be in California

Things I am not proud of as an American:

  • measuring in feet, inches, yards, miles, cups, gallons, etc. (let’s get metric y’all)
  • the fact that flying a BLM flag is “radical” and “extreme”, while flying the Confederate flag, a symbol of the largest treason in American history, is not
  • the fact that LGBT+ and queer rights are still a debate, like, the debate is literally “should these people have the same rights as everyone else”
  • the rampant islamophobia, racism, and xenophobia that plagues the nation
  • the fact that when you bring up a different country, the typical response among many Americans, usually older, is “Yeah we kicked their asses in WWII” or “We saved their asses in WWII” as if a country’s worth is dictated by military strength
  • or they ask “Where is that? Is that really a country?”
  • the country’s involvement in the middle east
