does this work in high school

Persona 5 AU

!May contain spoilers!

Where Akechi is not the black mask and honestly working as a high school detective. Sees everything in almost black and white and believes that justice must be served to the phantom thieves.

“You know, I don’t think the phantom thieves are doing the good thing, but their victims are probably worse. And i have to admit, they did a better job than i could do on my own.” Akechi to Akira while sulking on leblanc coffee.

Akechi and Akira have this deduction game on their “dates” like “Alright Akira, what does the woman with that red skirt do as their job?”. And “hypothetically speaking” on stuff that ranges from the most silliest to the most serious one like “hypothetically speaking, what comes first, the egg or the chicken”.

Akechi couldn’t hear Morgana’s voice and the first time he saw Mona on the cafe (accidentally), he starts petting him.

He’d brought snacks (tuna cans) for Morgana at times.

Some of the other times he just sit there, orders a coffee, stares at it for a long time. Then after a long silence, he asked Akira “Hypotethically speaking, if a father abandons his child and his child starts looking for him, and then that child found out that the father was a bad man, what should the child do?”

At which Akira answers “Kick his ass”. And Akechi starts laughing.

Akechi would talk about his past starting with “hypothetically speaking”.

One day he asked “Hypotethically speaking, if you’re a man of justice but you’re best friends with a criminal, what will you do?”

Morgana was breaking sweats, so did Akira but he tried to play it coolly. “A friend’s a friend, no matter what they are.”

Akechi only smiles, seemingly content. And talked nothing else.

Until the day Haru’s dad dies, and the phantom thieves were blamed for it. Akechi stood for them for the first time.

“I doubt this. I still think they’re criminals, but their method never lead to death. Someone else must be behind it.” And it caused the fall to his reputation as well. Though he didn’t care too much about it.

But he came to leblanc, face more grim than usual, then braced himself to ask to Akira once nobody else is around. “Hypothetically speaking, Akira. If your best friend is a murderer, what will you do?”

“My friends don’t kill people.” Akira answered. Knowing for sure that Akechi is doubting him.

Akechi sighs in relief. But smiles sadly. “Akira… Are you the phantom thief?”

“…Hypothetically speaking, if i am, what will you do?”

“I see. I guess, as the ace detective, I will have to arrest you.” Akechi said, but sips on his coffee cup. “But the Akechi in this leblanc is just Goro Akechi, your best friend who believes in you.”

Then Akechi starts helping the PT in discovering Haru’s true murderer. Which in Akechi’s hypothesis, must be one of Shido’s men. Akechi shares his findings with Futaba, and talks about Ishiki Wakaba’s research.

When Sae is being pushed to deliver the verdict against the phantom thieves, Akechi then asked the PT to save her. Unfortunately for them, Akechi was being followed and the PT almost got caught for falling into Shido’s trap. Akechi who followed the police into the metaverse stood up against the police. Awakens his persona, Sherlock Holmes. Have a brand new outfit to match his persona, then made the SIU have a change of heart.

Akechi confessed that Shido is his father and that everything is probably Shido’s doing. And that he had been trying to put Shido behind the bar himself, but he was far too powerless against him. Akechi officially joined the PT, then they agreed to take down Shido together.

Hoe Tips: School and Studying

I’m currently in PA school with close to a 4.0 GPA, and with college and back to school starting up, I’m dropping some tips for y'all. A hoe gotta get bomb ass grades if ya want a bomb ass career and to be successful af. So let’s get it✨

1. Write out your notes. Have two notebooks: one for when you’re in class (this one can be messy) and one for at home (this one is the neater one, for color coding, formatting, and all that organizational jazz). Writing things out is proven to enhance memorization 7X more than just reading is.

2. Have a go-to format for your notes. Numbering, bullet points, whatever floats your boat.

3. Type out your notes. I use Google Drive, because it automatically saves all your shit, and you can access your notes via your Google account literally anywhere. Typing out your notes does the same thing writing them out does, as far as helping you review the material.

4. Use Quizlet. Quizlet is a free flashcard website/app that allows you to type in all of your flashcards and definitions, and gives you review options like matching, testing, flashcard mode, and more. This shit made me my high schools valedictorian, no lie.

5. Keep your old quizzes and tests. Often times, teachers will ask similar questions on finals.

6. For math-based subjects, always always always show your work in your notes. I try to explain each step for a math problem in the margins of my notes, and generalize how to do each problem at the end.

7. Do practice problems consistently.

8. For my college hoes: never take an 8 am class. You think you can do it because you did it for high school, but I promise you will regret it. If there’s no avoiding the 8 am lecture, bring coffee and skip any makeup/hair that day. Sleep is too important.

9. Make flashcards. The night before my exams, I like to try and fit everything I need to know for a specific chapter/topic onto one flashcard, in order to weed out main ideas.

10. For essays, easybib.com is amazing with free citations to avoid any plaigiarism or incorrect bibliographies.

11. Rent👏your👏textbooks👏. Unless your teacher specifically requires you BUY it, you likely won’t need the actual textbook. Buying access codes for the book online is hundreds of dollars cheaper.

12. If you do get your textbooks, a lot of them have chapter summaries at the end of each chapter. Be sure to write out/type out/review those summaries.

13. For science labs, if you are allowed, take pictures of any models or slides you need to know for your exams. Pretty much all labs won’t let you take pictures of cadavers or animal dissections, but plastic models and microscope slides should be fine.

14. If you have a question, ASK YOUR TEACHER. It is better to look stupid in class and get your clarification, than to look stupid when you get your exam back and actually have it count against your grade.

15. Do study groups. I have two nursing friends in some of the same classes as me, and we’d always meet up before exams to go over the material. We would bring dry erase markers and map out shit in empty classrooms, taking turns explaining shit to each other until we nailed it.

16. Try to teach the material. Like I said in #15, study groups are great for this. By teaching the material out loud, you are subconsciously reviewing it yourself. This is a HUGE help.

17. Take breaks. You cannot exhaust yourself and expect to still recall anything you learned.

18. I know everyone does this and there’s no avoiding it sometimes, but DO NOT CRAM. Gradual learning is most effective.

19. Have one day every week where you don’t do any schoolwork. You need time to reboot.

20. Use your phone’s calendar/task checklist app for all major assignments, due dates, exam dates, study plans, appointments, etc. Set reminders as needed.

21. Charge your phone in another room while studying. No distractions.

22. Rainymood.com is a free website that plays a 30 minute loop of rain sounds. It helps me focus like nothing else, especially in my loud ass household, and every time the loop stops and replays, I know to take a break between 30 minute study sessions.

23. Feel distracted at home when studying? Try studying in a library, cafe, or even at school. I find that going somewhere else to study actually forces me to pay attention to what I’m doing, for some reason.

24. Reward yourself for good grades. Buy yourself a slice of pizza or a new highlight, have a netflix marathon, go to a party, or take a nap. Whatever conveys a job well done, do it. It’ll make all that studying feel that much greater when it’s over, and you’ll have a goal to work towards.

25. Sit in the front of the classroom as often as possible. You’ll be forced to pay attention, be able to actually see the board, hear the instructor better, and you’re more likely to have your questions answered quickly because your teacher will actually see your hand go up.

26. Caffeinate. I prefer tea because it’s healthier, but coffee works too. Ya girl is NOT a morning person, but my morning tea at least helps me pay attention during earlier classes.

27. Keep all of your school shit organized, together, and labelled.

28. Do NOT skip a class just because you’re lazy or don’t feel like going. The temptation is real sometimes, but a hoes gonna be pissed when ya see your participation average decline.

29. This may just be a psychological thing, but I love to use the same colored/brand of pen for all of my notes/assignments/tests. It just makes everything seem more uniform, and I’m able to recall information better.

30. Trouble taking tests? For any multiple choice question, read the question and try to answer it first without reading any of the options. If your answer doesn’t match the options, then use process of elimination to find the best answer. For true/false questions, write out justifications for each answer (you can also do this for multiple choice). You’ll be acing your exams in no time.

31. Chewing gum during class/studying, and chewing that same flavor gum during the exam, has been scientifically proven to boost your memory recall.

32. Literally any time you have the opportunity to do extra credit, DO IT. Cherish that shit.

33. If you aren’t doing so hot in a particular class (literally any math class for me lol), schedule a private meeting with your professor and go over test questions you missed, or topics you didn’t get. If you know your professor is a flop, or can’t get an appointment, meet with a tutor or another professor of that same subject. Sometimes another voice can shed new light on a difficult topic.

34. For essays, readable.io critiques your writing for free based on readability, grade level, formality, tone, grammatical errors, etc. Seriously a life saver.

35. Also thesaurus.com is ya bff for fancier words/phrases to make your writing more eloquent

36. Always make an outline for every essay or project to organize what you want to say. This will keep you on track, and help you work around any quotes or sources in you writing to make sure your writing is hella organized.

That’s all I can think of for now, please please please feel free to add and share. Enjoy those 4.0’s, hoes💞

Because my computer ate everything, these questions are not directly taken from the NaNoWriMo website.  Some are asked from memory, some are questions that sounded like ones I had, and others are ones I came up with.

My opinion about the signs

Okay… I know this is not really my type of content but I always find these interesting to read so I thought I’ll post one myself.

Aries: you can count on them, don’t take things too seriously, get mad at small things, much fun to hang out with, somewhat egoistic, as soon as they find someone more interesting than you they will hang out with them (though, they will not forget about you)

Taurus: I always become extremly good friends with them, so relaxing to hang out with them, weird humour, very determined and stubborn, talk a loooot, in a relationship they need a lot of physical interaction, they make me feel like home, laughs about every little thing, cute laugh

Gemini: fun people to hang out with, their humour is so… unexpected like they say things you would have never thought about, tend to hide their serious feelings/emotions, take the side of the person they want to impress, think too much about how they can impress someone rather than just beeing themselves (even through their personality is way more charming)

Cancer: a little too sensitive for my taste, can get very annoying but they are too cute to be mad at, need a lot of protection, very giggly, great story-tellers (but they tend to tell you the same story over and over again), materialistic, put you first, loves from the bottom of their heart, pretty smart but dumb at the same time

Leo: warmhearted people, try to be funny and cool all the time (but fail eventually lol too cute), buys you a lot of gifts, attention-lovers, likes to meet new people, very vain when it comes to their appearance, very nervous when having tests/exams, naturally intelligent (unfortunately this doesn’t help them much in school), enjoys good food

Virgo: stress themselves way too much, overthink everything, usually very good in school, gets mad and stressed when things don’t work out as they thought they would, sort of a boring personality, they can talk sooooo much, very sensitive (!!!), tend to be too harsh on themselves, high expectations of themselves

Libra: naturally flirty af, cute smile, scared to be alone, talks most of the time about themselves, makes sure everybody is getting enough attention, very lazy, does things in the last minute, usually the one studying for a test/exam the lesson before, clumsy, needs protection, don’t like confrontations/fights, not good at making decisions or being on time

Scorpio: just like libras they talk a lot about themselves, get veeeeery obsessive over things and people, their staring is so intense that it makes me feel uncomfortable, cares a lot about their loved ones, scared to show feelings, makes very weird but cute compliments you would have never gotten from anybody else, sporty, try to flirt but that’s just a little… cringe-worthy lol

Sagittarius: now… these people are the absolut oppostie of me, always awkward when we hang out together, not the most loyal boyfriend/girlfriend/friend, always wearing top outfits, always looking good, cares a lot about their hair or in general their appearance, not the best in school, party every weekend, straightforward

Capricorn: makes sooo many cute compliments, I have this weird attraction towards them, extremly sexy, intelligent, can’t sit still, they are very weird people, humour consists of sarcasm and dad jokes and can be very dry, know way too well how to seduce people, not the best in expressing their feeling but they try, ABSOLUT SWEETHEARTS, gets shy when being complimented, very sensitive, never forget their mistakes and always regret them (no matter how small it was)

Aquarius: makes me feel like home at the very first meeting, either pretty chill or being pissed off at silly things, don’t like stubborn people, tendency to be very religious, very good friends, will do everything for and with you, works hard to reach their goals, plans everything weeks/months before

Pisces: I either like or can’t stand them, actually quite egoistic, not the best in using the right words, sensitive af 24/7, dark humour, cries a lot, scared to hurt someones feelings (even if they don’t like the person), avoids confrontations/fights by not saying what’s really on their mind, in a fight they will say the most hurtful things (and will regret them their whole life), using the victim-card way too often, most of the time smiling

batkids in high school expectation vs reality

dick expectation: preppy af, popular, probably a jock, friendly with every one

dick reality: cheerleader, mostly liked but still gets into fights regularly, talks back constantly, on a first name basis w/ all the secretaries in the office (”hello again, dick. i think you’ve got blood on your face” “shannon hi!! how are the kids?”

jason expectation: Bad Boy supreme, in trouble 24/7, hated by teachers, smokes on school property, always getting into fights

jason reality: huge nerd, does all of his homework + extra credit assignments, lives for field trips, probably cries while reading books in english class, has like 2 friends, that one kid who reminds the teacher about homework

cass expectation: literally non existent?? i’ve never seen her in a high school au why

cass reality: puts effort into only the work she’s interested in, generally viewed as a good student, secretly breaks rules constantly but never gets caught

tim expectation: nerdy af, top of the class, probably bullied lowkey

tim reality: literally never does homework, stays up all night researching things that have nothing to do with school, constantly daydreaming in class and probably falls asleep, hated by teachers, students find him mildly terrifying, has really close friends

Help. I’ve fallen hard for Mystic Messenger and I can’t get up.

I’m one of those fans who have multiple MCs, cause damn they all deserve to be happy. It’s just more fun that way for me ^-^ In all my MM headcanons, art, and fanfics- I always use these girls.

How their story works is that Unknown has 5 different girls to choose to send to the RFA, and whichever member he wants to manipulate determines which girl he chooses to be the party planner (and therefore determining what route the player is on.) All 5 of them were specifically chosen because Unknown knew they would have the most significant influence on their target RFA member.

If you want to know who they are and read more about them, just continue under the cut!

Guy belittles me..I make him lose over $100K per year.

I am a Purchasing Manager for the city I work in. I have been doing this job for 11 years. We have contracts with various vendors but I want to talk about the company that does all of our dirt/gravel/limestone work. This story happened almost 4 years ago.

When I started we had a contract with this company. I spoke to the owner quite often and he was a pleasant guy. It was a family owned business that had only 4 employees but they were always ready to help the city when we needed. Every year, the owner would drop by and sign the contract before the new year began.

Well, the owner ends up passing away and his son takes over the business. His son had worked for the company right out of high school but ended up going work somewhere else. Came back to take ownership when his dad died. I never met the guy, didn’t know him, but my wife went to high school with him. On his Facebook page, he has pictures of his huge home, 4 vehicles, 3 boats(who the hell needs 3 boats), every ATV and toy imaginable. Just out of curiosity, I check all of the invoices from prior years and saw that we paid this company anywhere from $80K-$200K per year. In the time I was there, I figured out an average of about $140K per year.

So, we were in the middle of our contract when the owner died. I had some property that I wanted to put some mobile homes on so I would need some dirt hauled to my property. I decided to use the same company that the city uses. My wife called the new owner and set everything up for a Monday to haul the dirt and form up the dirt into a pad. It would cost me about $3,000. The mobile home was going to be delivered the Tuesday afternoon.

So, I’m at my property waiting for the guy to show up. Never does. My wife calls him and he says he can’t do the job. Too busy. I find out where he’s at(through connections at my job) and I show up to the site. I didn’t tell him who I was but asked what was going on. He said he had a bigger job to do and wouldn’t be able to get to it. I tell him that I have a mobile home being delivered the next day and I needed the work and had him lined up and he said “You know, what you would have paid me won’t make a dent in my pocketbook.”

I just looked at him and said, “Alright…” and left.

So, I ended up having to call a whole bunch of different places and eventually found a guy that could do the job for me. While him and I are talking, I tell him where I work and he mentions if he could possibly do work for us as a vendor. I get his information down and tell him I’ll be in touch.

I start researching at work and come to find out, we are supposed to holding a bid for that kind of work due to the dollar amount. We just never did because no one else was interested in doing the work.

In December of that year, the new owner calls me up and asks when he can come by and sign the new contract. I inform him that “due to regulations” we have to do a bid process. He seems kind of nervous but I inform him that it’s just a process we have to go through now and he shouldn’t worry because I told him that I doubt any one else would bid. He seemed more at ease and asked how the bid process went. Informed him that I would send him the information and he would need to fill out the bid sheet and come by and drop it off in a sealed envelope by a certain date.

I call the other guy that helped me out and tell him about the bid process. I also informed him that the company we deal with and the prices that they give us already(every information we have is public knowledge so I’m not doing anything wrong) and let him know that he should bid under that.

The day before the bid open date, the new owner of said company comes by and asks for the Purchasing Manager. He doesn’t know my name, but he knows my face. I come in the lobby and his mouth instantly drops. I extend my hand and tell him hi and that I was, in fact, the guy he needed to see. He asks if there are any other bids and I inform him that we didn’t have any others come in yet, which was a lie since I had the other guys bid.

No one comes in for the bid opening, which isn’t required, but the other guy who helped me out ended up winning the bid. I call the new owner to inform him that we had another bid come in last minute before the deadline and they were less so we would have to go with them.

He. Was. Pissed.

He was stuttering and stammering. Telling me that I’m going to be taking food off his kids plate, etc. I told him there was nothing i could do. He went to the public works office and they told him the same thing.

He has lost the bid process every single year. He no longer posts pictures of his “toys” on Facebook and I believe he downsized his home as well.

Beating Brush Lag in Manga Studio

Booooooooo… what is this, Photoshop?!

Lagging brushes are an occasional problem in any illustration software. Here’s a troubleshooting guide for Manga Studio if your tools are acting like molasses. (Some settings may be different on Windows or if you’re running the Clip Studio Paint branding of the software. For what it’s worth, I’m running Manga Studio 5.0.3 on Mac OS 10.7.5. Yup, I’m behind the times.)

There are a few options to beat the lag:

1. Quit Stuff
Bye bye, YouTube. See ya, Skype. Later, Tumblr.

Save your computer’s processor by quitting RAM-hogging apps and tasks while painting. Streaming audio/video will drastically reduce performance, but even leaving browsers open can slow things down, so best to just close it up. Guess that rules out Spotify, but then there’s always ye olde Zune. Gotta love cringing through those high school playlists while working.

2. Change Preferences
Easier than changing your mind, and quicker too.

Check under the hood of Manga Studio’s Preferences for a few speed boosts. Do the following in these sub menus:

Preferences/Tablet/Tablet Settings: Change from 1 to 6 (I believe this option is Mac only).

Preferences/Performance/Undo: Lower the Undo count. Try taking it down 10-15 notches from default. You could also turn up that long-titled setting (“Delay before recognizing new object…”) by 100 ms, but I haven’t figured out what that does exactly…

Preferences/Cursor/Display Position of Reversed Cursor: Make sure to check “No Delay”.

After changing preferences, it’s a good idea to close and reopen Manga Studio.

3. Modify Brush Tool Settings
Your brushes may take it personally, but remember you’re in charge here.

The Tool Settings window is a wealth of options for customizing brushes. Some are more processor-intensive than others. Here are a few of the best ones to modify: (Note: the look and behavior of brushes may be affected. You may want to duplicate and/or export a brush before changing its settings.)

Tool Settings/Anti-Aliasing: Turn down to “Little” or “None”

Tool Settings/Brush Tip: Reduce the number of materials on your brush.

Tool Settings/Stroke/Space: Increase spacing, but not too much. Brushes are essentially a string of material stamps. A low space setting means a smoother brush, but more work for your computer. Picture it frantically scrubbing a rubber stamp across your canvas. On that note, also make sure Continuous Spraying is not on.

Tool Settings/Watercolor Border: If your brush uses this setting, turn on the “Process After Drag” option. This renders the effect after each brush stroke and saves computing power.

Tool Settings/Correction: Turn off (or decrease) Stabilization, Post Correction, and Brush Stroke.

Tool Settings/Starting and Ending: Turn off all this stuff. Pfffft, who needs it, right?

Here’s a speed test after fiddling with some settings:

Woooooooo! We’re getting faster! Still a bit laggy, which leads to one last tip:

4. Rework The Canvas
Might as well rework my life goals too.

Okay, disclosure: The two gifs in this post were recorded on a 4500x3000 canvas at 300dpi with a size 500 brush to emphasize lag. This third one is recorded on a 1080x720 canvas at 72dpi with a size 100 brush:

Yes! We’re cruising now!

Canvas sizing and resolution has a big affect on brush performance. It’s a bit of a conundrum. Getting the best image quality means working at a minimum resolution of 300dpi, which can be taxing for brushes on large canvases. So what to do? Just like traditional paintings start with thumbnail sketches, digital work can start on a low-resolution canvas. Here’s the method:

Set up your canvas normally at the full target resolution. But before drawing anything on the canvas, use the handy tool under Edit/Change Image Resolution. Reduce Resolution to 72dpi. Use this smaller canvas for rough sketching, background filling, blocking in large areas of color, etc. Then increase resolution to 144dpi for building up the body of the painting, still keeping it loose. (I’d recommend switching Interpolate to Hard Outline when increasing resolution.) Finally, blow it up to full resolution and get into the nitty gritty of rendering. This is where you’ll do the crisp line work, highlights, details, etc.

The idea here is to work big to small. This will keep away brush lag by using large brushes on small canvases. As the canvas resolution increases, decrease brush size and work smaller, tightening things up in the process. NOTE: Increasing canvas resolution causes pixilation. Don’t worry about it. This can be cleaned up in the final stages of painting.

Hope this guide is helpful! If lagging persists, remember to check drivers and tablet settings as well. If all else fails, Google’s a good friend ;)

physics doesn’t have to suck: how to enjoy and do well in your required physics classes

As someone who doesn’t intend to take a physics class ever again, I was relieved when I walked out of my second semester physics final. That said, physics doesn’t have to suck or drag your average down.

(1) How to enjoy physics: Adjust your attitude. Physics is so cool if you actually think about it. Your attitude will dictate your experience. (2) But physics is so hard: Change the way you study and don’t give up. I did better in university physics than in high school. The content was way more difficult but it was my studying methods that made the difference.

This post is split into 3 parts: Introductory physics (very basic physics, that unit of physics you had to do in a lower level science class), high school physics (physics from an algebra-based perspective), and university physics (calculus-based physics and labs). (Obviously these overlap a lot but I needed to organize this somehow)

INFO IS UNDER THE CUT B/C THIS POST IS RIDICULOUSLY LONG

Barely recovering from their infamous battle with the hockey and lacrosse teams that shook the school, the boys soon face a new kind of obstacle: senior prom!!!
In this exciting teen drama, questions abound: What will Gerard, Mikey, Ray, and Frank wear to the dance? Who is Mikey’s mysterious date? Will Gerard get to be prom queen? Does Ray have a dark secret? Will Frank and Gerard ever get together?
But most importantly, can these four social outcasts turn the school’s hierarchy on its head and go down in high school history as the most badass group of freaks ever to crash senior prom?
Find out this summer, in I’m Not Okay (I Promise) Part II: Prom Fright!!!

well don’t i look pretty walkin’ down the street in the best damn dress i own?

- DO NOT HAVE YOU PHONE OUT; this applies to any electronic device really. Endless kudos to people who write their notes on their laptop but for a lot of us that freedom to do whatever durn lectures is a no go for productivity. So put your phone on do not disturb and put in a pocket inside of your backpack.

- Seriously no phone; keep your phone on silent and inside of your bag. If you are at all like me the fear of the noise that unzipping multiple pockets will make will scare you off from ever reaching for it.

- Sit front row; now this one a lot of people will not like, so you don’t have to, it’s a personal choice. You can be just as productive in the back row as the front, but personally, if I can make direct eye contact with the teacher I will not goof around doodling on my notes.

- Do not have a crap ton of pens and highlighters out; yes they are pretty and will make aesthetic notes but really one pen and highlighter is enough.

- Sit forward; leaning back or crossing arms actually makes you concentrate less! Or for me it does anyway, so sit forward like you are constantly about to take notes.

- Come up with a lecture note taking plan; I don’t rewrite my notes cause I’m lazy and as high school senior time is scarce. So have a plan of how your notes will work-bullet points as main points and slashes as sub-point, highlighter topics names and underline. Whatever works for you, but have a freaking plan! This will speed up your note taking time and make studying from the easier

- Drink water; have a water bottle handy or on your desk. If your mind starts to wander have a sip of water, not to many though. Don’t want to keep running to the bathroom durn class, but hydration is a must for a student!

- Clear your mind; if your mind starts wandering, stop and close your eyes for a breath or two. Let all thoughts go and just breath for a second. Tell yourself you got this, then tune back to the lecture and take kick ass notes!

5 things I’ve learned since I started college:

1. You will eat so many granola bars. Do yourself a favor and always keep two in your bag in case you can’t stop by the dining hall/buy food.

2. Never, ever, ever go anywhere without your water bottle. Fun dinner with a club? Still bring it, 99% of colleges have a lot of walking and you never know when you’ll need a drink of water. Get in the habit and you will thank yourself either.

3. If you’re living on campus, just try trust me a pack like…a lot of underwear (a lot!!) because this will be the thing that saves you from having to do laundry often.

4. A few weeks in there is a plague that goes around campus and it’s hard not to get caught by it. Stock up on medicines like tylenol, cough medicne, etc as well as cough drops beforehand (especially if you live on campus). Also if you live on campus, it may be wise to pack Pepto Bismal or something similar, the college diet may be very different than how you’re used to eating and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

5. There is no harm in doing a little bit of homework at a time. Just because you only have 30 minutes to work and can’t finish an assignment in that time doesn’t mean you should wait to do it. Often times, things and events come up and so it’s best to work on homework whenever possible even if it’s just a little bit.

Bonus one: A lot of times people tell you that if you work hard in high school, college will be a breeze. And although it may be true for some people, it’s definitely not true for everyone. College will be hard. There will be hard classes. There will be times when you feel like the dumbest person in the room. Please. Please. Please. Ask for help. Another person’s success and another person’s intelligence does not diminish yours.

alright you know what i got mad anyway sorry

  • sally jackson is a phenomenal mother but she does a fucking lot more than bake cookies okay
  • this woman lost her family when she was five
  • this woman grew up being neglected
  • and then proceeded to drop out of high school to take care of the man who neglected her
  • and then she raised a fucking baby entirely on her own, with no family at all
  • a baby that had a death warrant on his head since the day he was conceived, no less
  • she had nothing and she worked her ass off to make a good life for her son, and she did a fucking good job of it
  • and then she spent years in an abusive relationship all while continuing to work her ass off and make a good life for her son, despite being verbally and physically abused about everything she did
  • and then she fucking got herself out of that abusive relationship, and there is nothing fucking cute about sally jackson feeling so desperate and afraid of her abuser that her only way out was to kill him okay
  • and then she uses her new money to get a new apartment for herself
  • and then she fucking saved up enough to fulfill her lifelong dream of going to college to become a writer
  • and she still routinely has to let her son risk his life to save the world because she knows it wouldn’t be fair of her to try and beg him not to, it’s part of who he is and she knows she needs to respect that, so instead of guilting him and giving him ultimatums, she fucking gives him her blessing
  • do you know how fucking hard that must be for her though? and do you ever hear her guilt him or take it out on him? n e v e r
  • so like fuck yeah she’s kind and beautiful and loving but she aint soft and sweet this woman is tough as fucking nails, she’s strong, she gets fucked over and over again and she still never gives up
  • she pulled herself out of tons and tons of extremely tedious and difficult situations even when literally all the odds were stacked against her
  • percy even says that there’s steel in her, that she has a rebellious streak that’s just like him
  • and like i really don’t wanna ever hear anyone forgetting this part of her ever again
  • so next time you talk about her baking cookies remember that she’s also an orphan who grew up in an abusive household, dropped out of highschool, became a single mother, survived an abusive marriage, and worked her ass off to get herself to where she is today
MR. REYES DOESN'T GET ENOUGH ATTENTION

oKAY BUT GUYS MR. REYES GOT SQUIPPED TOO SO WHY DOES NO ONE MENTION THAT:

-he probably becomes the Squip Squad’s favorite teacher

-he’s that kooky drama teacher that you can’t help but love anyways

-he becomes really close with them and gives them really important life advice for whenever they’re feeling anxious about the future

-Mr. Reyes writes Christine a recommendation letter to the highest acting colleges bc he’s so proud of how far she’s come as an actress

-he signs all of their yearbooks with personal messages and gets emotional when he sees them graduate bc shit these students are like his kids to him
-he becomes a father figure to not just Rich but also to Michael after he joins drama tech

-will spend hours at night doing research on where the kids would like to go to college because he cares that much for them and wants to make sure they feel ready and prepared to leave high school

-they bring him hot pockets every morning

-he even comes up with a secret handshake with Jake after Rich bets that Mr. Reyes wouldn’t do it but he does it so he can see Rich lose a bet

-the kids secretly host a car wash to raise money and surprise Mr. Reyes with a trip to Broadway (at the car wash, Jeremy bakes, Christine sings while Michael is working her music, Jenna promotes the car wash by getting her thousands of Twitter followers to stop by, Jake and Rich are the sign spinners and get super competitive on who can bring in more customers)

-he’s tHAT ONE TEACHER WHO YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON AND LIKE THEY’RE PROUD OF YOU REGARDLESS OF YOUR FAILURES HE’S THE ONE TO PICK YOU BACK UP EVEN WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CANT GO ANYWHERE IN LIFE

LIKE YEAH MR. REYES IS WEIRD BUT IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT HE’D FEEL CONNECTED TO THESE STUDENTS LIKE “WOW I REALLY WANT THEM ALL TO SUCCEED AND I’M SO PROUD OF THEM” I’M SORRY I HAVE SO MANY EM O TI ONS

To All the Students in School

I think this really needs to be said to all the high schoolers freaking out about AP exams, SAT scores, and ACT scores. Hell, even to those who are applying/applied to colleges or other things. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine your worth. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine how smart you are. The number that you end up reading off the collegeboard site does not determine your future. Only you, as a person, can determine that. I know it’s hard, I’m still in high school too. But I think you guys need to, have to, know that even if you get all A’s and a 1450+ (or 2200+) on the SAT that it doesn’t automatically guarantee you a job. You could end up going to Stanford, MIT, or Harvard but end up in a bad place. The school you end up going to doesn’t necessarily grant you a job either. Okay, yes, it makes it a little bit easier but either way, you’re going to have to work hard for everything to get where you want. All of you are so much more important than some score or letter grade. Y’all are gonna do great, as long as you have the passion and drive to work for it. Having straight A’s and perfect scores does not mean you will survive in the real world. Now, this isn’t a way to make you feel better or myself (since I’m not a straight A student either) about all of this because honestly it’s all so true.

Good luck on your AP exams and everything else though. :) You guys got this.

Baby Sister

Summary: The reader is a year younger than her brother, Steve Harrington. She has been sneaking out to see Billy and Steve finds out. A little bit of Billy fluff as well….

Author’s Note: These boys I SWEAR. I’ve seen a request to do a part two, so let me know if that’s something you’d like. xxxx

I stood in front of my mirror, putting my face on for the night. See, Billy Hargrove had somehow gotten me to fall in love with him. I don’t know how. The guy could be a real prick. Which was precisely why I was plotting to sneak out tonight. A knock on my door made me jump,

“Hold on a sec!” I yelled, placing my tube of lipstick down on my vanity. I prayed that my brother wouldn’t open the door. He would ask questions if he saw me all dressed up. We had helped each other sneak out before. He wanted to make sure that he knew where I was, just in case. But this time, there was no way in hell I could tell him where I was going.

“Just me. Going to bed!” Steve hollered, “Don’t be blasting that shit you listen to all night.”

“Night, jackass!” I retorted, letting out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding.

I wrestled on my jeans, the ones that made my ass look phenomenal. I tugged on my leather jacket over it just as there was a slam of a car door outside. I slipped my boots on before peering out my window. The dull glow of a lit cigarette under my window told me he was here. I turned out the lights, snagging my purse before flinging my window open. I wriggled out onto the roof, using extra caution not to tumble off onto my ass. Like I did the last time… Which I will never hear the end of.

I scooted on my butt, closing the window behind me. I slid off the gutters and into the arms of the boy below. He caught me around the waist, urgently pressing his lips to mine.

“You stuck your landing.” He applauded.

I hummed against his lips, tugging back slightly, he followed me though.

“Okay! Stop! Steve’s still awake!” I hissed between kisses, glancing up at his bedroom window to see the light on.
