does it inspire you

dictacontrion  asked:

(a) i love your ask header (b) for fic questions! if you haven't answered them yet: 10, 14, 21, 32, 51! <3

Thank you Dicta! 14 and 21 are answered but here are the rest,

10.  Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?
It takes a long time for me to get used to characters enough to feel comfortable writing them, so anything beside HP goes at this point? I read from Check Please and Yuri on Ice, but i haven’t gotten the courage to try out writing them yet.

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?
I absolutely can’t listen to music when i write, it kills my focus terribly and hinders my translation abilities. Music does inspire me though, i usually like electropop, dream pop, some folk, alt rock and pop rock i guess?

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Is it surprising that i’m gonna choose to rant? Let me unload some salt. Lately i’ve been seeing a lot posts scorning “bad fics”, which is really bothering me. Every author improves by practice. We all begin our writing process from a starting point, none of us came out as perfect authors, you know? Talking down beginner authors like this is discouraging them from actually sharing their work, and some others from writing at all. I feel like some of us should take a step back, and realize that this attitude is actually causing a decrease in fan works they consume daily. The authors don’t owe us anything, they’re sharing their work for free and the least we can do is show some respect to that.

fic questions!

It’s awesome to be able to draw Mark with his black hair again

Apologizing does not always mean you’re wrong and the other person is right. It just means you value your relationship more than your ego.
How to Know if you’re in the Right Relationship

1. You feel secure with the person and are happy to commit to a relationship with them.

2. You don’t feel you need to hide anything from them.

3. You respect them, and they respect you. Neither feels superior to the other.

4. You are happy for their successes. You don’t feel as if you’re in competition with them, or that their successes make you feel inferior.

5. You don’t challenge, criticise or attack each other in front of others.

6. Neither of you is looking to the other to have unmet needs met, or to make up for personal feelings of lack or inadequacy.

7. You are happy for your partner to spend time with their family and other friends.

8. You don’t have a secret back up plan (“If he cheats, or leaves, me then I’ll … “If he does X then I’ll do Y”)

9. You inspire each other to be better people.

10. You know that they’ll always be there for you.

staying afloat

For @rebelcaptainprompts prompt #8: “agony, fingers, and shiver”

With a word like agony, do you really think this was going to be anything other than angst? I’ll do a part 2 if I feel nice

(also I unintentionally ended up using the words a lot oops)

Word Count: 500 (no cut)

One. Two.

Jyn sees stars, pain searing through her body. She collapses to the ground, groaning in agony, clutching at the blaster wounds.

“Jyn!” Cassian’s voice breaks in anguish, as if he was physically sharing her pain. “Jyn!” His voice reaches her while he can’t, fending off the impending Imperials.

Blood seeps through her clothing, a sickly warm feeling creeping up her side. She pulls her hand away and the tips of her fingers are stained a dark red. Her head spinning, she manages to drag herself out of the way of blasterfire. I have to hold on until he gets here

Steadying her breathing as best as she could, Jyn brings herself to peer at the wounds. She inhales sharply. It’s bad. She needed to be in a medbay in an hour at the latest. She tries not to think about what would happen if she wasn’t, attempting to shake Cassian’s agonized face out of her mind. They had fought so hard to stay afloat together, and she wouldn’t drown alone. I promise.

Where’s Cassian? She tries to see the firefight, but she can’t lift her head. Swearing to herself, she leans against the closest wall and waits, undoing her scarf and pressing it against the injury, counting minutes in her head as the warmth of life leaks out between her fingers.

She’s cold, so unbearably cold, icy water lapping against her side. It was if the death that eluded her at Scarif was now breathing down her neck. The thought sends a shiver down her spine.

When Cassian finally reaches her side, face streaked with dirt and eyes wide with concern, she can barely make out his face in the blurry haze of her mind.

“Cass…” she gasps, unable to form his full name, trying to grasp at his face swimming in and out of her vision. Help

“I’m here, I’m here, don’t worry,” he murmurs, pulling out his medkit and working quickly to temporarily patch up the injury, his face a mask of neutral concentration. His fingers feel warm against her skin and her throat tightens, because wasn’t Cassian usually the cold one?

Cass,” she tries again. He looks up at her from under his eyelashes, and Jyn catches a glimpse of the pure fear in his eyes. She feels like she’s being dragged underwater, and reaches out to Cassian to pull her up, desperate to keep afloat. Don’t let me go.

He takes his hand in hers, their fingers intertwining together, both stained with blood - her blood. She’s shaking, shivering from cold, shock, and the sheer effort of hanging on to the remaining scraps of life. “I’ve got you,” he says, ready to hoist her up in his arms. “Hold on.”

Jyn tries to nod and give him a reassuring smile - I’m trying - but it’s getting harder to keep her head up. She gives his hand one tight squeeze - I’m sorry -  before the waves pull her under.

She never lets go of his hand.

Some super-sweet styling inspiration:

Tips for Fighting Writer’s Block.
  1. When you struggle with finding your voice or a source of inspiration, reading can help motivate you to write. Go for your comfort read or perhaps a new book you’ve been wanting to read but haven’t gotten around to.
  2. Watching movies can give you the same inspiration as reading does. The dialogue and scenery could spark some ideas for you or challenge yourself to mentally write the scene.
  3. Take on some writing prompts. Sometimes we just need a helping hand. Write World provides writers with all kinds of different ways to get the creative juices flowing from sentence prompts, picture prompts, and music prompts.
  4. Listen to a playlist that isn’t your own. If you can’t work with lyrical music or music at all, search for a nature playlist, one with the natural sounds of the world like rain falling or waves splashing. You can listen to our playlists here.
  5. Draw something. Doodle things at random or draw out a character you’ve always had in mind or even a new one. It doesn’t matter if you’re good but it’s always best to be inspiring.
  6. Pamper yourself. Self care is always important it’s the best way to really give yourself a break. Do your nails, take a shower, take a nap, practice some yoga, do your hair, go for a jog.
  7. Clean your room. Change your linens, dust the corners, rearrange some furniture to give yourself the feeling of a brand new space.
  8. Clean your work space. If you’re like me, you find it hard to be productive in a messy work space. Spend a few minutes organizing your desk and I guarantee you’ll feel a bit better about tackling your writer’s block. Arrange your notebooks, pens, maybe even add a special touch like a small vase of handpicked flowers or a candle for some aroma therapy as you write.
  9. Change your environment. Visit the local coffee shop or a quiet park for a change of scenery when you write.
  10. Keep a small notebook with you to help you think up character profiles and jot your ideas down at random.
  11. Play video games. Take your mind off writing and play a video game with a fantastic story and wonderful characters. This can help inspire you to create your own.
  12. Bounce ideas with a writer friend. Nothing is better than sitting down with someone who shares the same interest as you and being able to share ideas with them and provide constructive and beneficial feedback.
  13. Write. Simply write. Write the first thing that comes to mind and allow yourself to be a little messy. Don’t worry about your grammar or punctuation, remember you can always revise later. Continue writing for a half hour before allowing yourself to stop and revise. Set a goal of maybe 250 or 500 words (1,000 words if you’re really feeling committed) and write until you’ve reached that goal, take a break, and then continue writing. Sometimes setting a deadline for ourselves be extremely helpful.

“You want me all to yourself?” You asked in disbelief.

“I guess you could say that.”

Here I go again with my early-morning inspiration. So I read this Namjoon scenario, Does he deserve you?, written by @btsxyou and I really liked it so I wanted to edit something for it. It’s a very good AU (at this point I think all my followers know I’m a sucker for AUs) and I recommend it. It’s quite steamy but if you’re okay with that, go and read it. I’m sure all of you will love it.

If it does not inspire you to be a better you, to be more than what you have always been, then it is not something worthwhile.
