do you know why I'm excited for this movie

I'd be really interested in your view on harry releasing his solo and album before Dunkirk is released. Would this effect how he's seen as an actor? Would it interfere with any of the promo for the movie or his music? When do you think would be the best strategic time to release his music? I'm super excited for Harry's music, and am interested in your thoughts on the new timeline suggested

yeahhhhhhhhhh I don’t know.  I don’t really like it and I”m trying to work through why I feel that way and i’m having a tough time putting it into words that make sense outside of my own head lol

I think part of it is because I’ve heard from different people how he wants to keep music and acting separate which i think is very smart.  And this definitely won’t help him do that.  It MIGHT affect how he’s seen as an actor, depending on what kind of music it’ll be.  Especially since Dunkirk is such a serious film and such a big departure from anything he’s done in the past, both musically and promo-wise with One Direction.  It’s just completely different tonally and would have been a great reintroduction after he’s been in hiding for so long.

Promo also will be…complicated.  They’ll probably do print media/interviews in late may with on-camera interviews/press junkets in June.  So that’s…a lot.  Granted, it’s an ensemble film so he won’t be needed for all of the promo.  It can be spread around a little bit, but at the same time…the fact that he’s a big star and it’s his first movie means the press is going to want to talk to him a lot. It’ll definitely be a balancing act.

Then there’s the question of with that balancing act, would it lead to overexposure?  Or is his team baking on the fact that his disappearing act over the past year and a half been enough for people to WANT all that Harry in your face all at once?  I mean, listen, I nearly died yesterday when we got to see pictures of him after not seeing him for so very long…but even I”m a little hesitant about this.

Personally i’ve been expecting it to be a fall release this whole time.  He’s a big enough name and it’s so anticipated that he’ll do enough sales to compete in Q4.  It also seemingly wouldn’t compete with what the other boys release.  Plus, it’ll be enough time post dunkirk to recover and have people excited to see him again.  Always leave ‘em wanting more, and all that, you know?

Hopefully my dash of negativity doesn’t mean my Harry card is revoked ;) You know whenever it’s released i’m gonna buy the hell out of that album and listen to it on repeat and tell everyone around me to buy it until they’re sick of me talking about it and I’ll be banned from even saying the word “styles” even if i’m talking about clothes.  Buuuuuuut i’m still hesitant for the time being.

I know everyone is excited for Book of the Atlantic next year and trust me, I am too. But do you know what I’m really excited for?

Why do you wanna see fifty shades? It romanticizes an abusive relationship idgi. I'm not trying to come off as rude I just wanna know what people see in it

I don’t mind the question at all.

I wanted to see the movie before I had an interest in reading the book to be honest. I’ve loved Jamie Dornan from when he played Graham on OUAT and was just excited to see him in something new, as well as something apparently sexy.

I only recently read the books and was actually quite shocked by the common misconceptions I’ve heard so much of. First of all the BDSM wasn’t even that bad, sure there were some uncomfortable or a little unusual scenes, but nothing as harsh as it’s been made to sound, with the exception of the one time she tells him to show her how bad it can be.

I’m no expert on these types of relationships/abuse so I’ll just say what I think about it after reading the book.

A. I don’t think it’s abuse because Christian always explains to her (in the book atleast) exactly what he’s going to do and how it’s going to feel physically and always makes sure she agrees first and then asks her how it made her feel emotionally after. It’s very much a mutual collaboration about what she will and won’t do. Unfortunately because of her innocence before meeting him she has no base line to work with so it’s a learning process, but he at no time does anything to her that she doesn’t say yes to without a thorough explanation from him first.

B. If you still think that’s abuse then that’s fine. But I would argue that it’s not about Christian’s abuse towards Ana, but about the abuse that inflicted on Christian at an early age (again this is something you’d understand from reading the book) and how BDSM was really used as a tool of therapy for him. Unfortunately it was taught at a young age, and in my opinion, by a women that was taking advantage of him, and therefore became a band aid and way of escape from the real problems. Again I don’t pretend to be an expert on the matter but I think it’s similar to people with deep emotional issues that use cutting or alcohol and drugs as a means to deal with their pain. This was the method taught to him and the only way he knew how to deal with it, until he meets Ana. (That being said, I don’t want people to think I’m saying that’s why everyone does BDSM and that it’s unhealthy, I think there are many people that do it for their own reasons and as long as it is consensual between two agreeing parties, as it is in the book and movie, then it’s not for me or anyone else to say it’s wrong.)

Sorry that just turned into me defending the book but I guess in short the real reason I think it’s a great story, and can’t wait to see the movie, is because it’s a love story about a women saving a man from his demons. There’s a great line….

“This is a man in need. His fear is naked and obvious, but he’s lost… Somewhere in his darkness. His eyes wide and bleak and tortured. I can soothe him. Join him briefly in the darkness and bring him into the light.”
E.L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey

Eventually the BDSM becomes less about his need to “abuse” women and more like fun role-playing foreplay for them. Because he doesn’t need it for a stress reliever anymore, she’s his therapy now, and it’s through love, even if the journey there isn’t conventional.

In short, I came for the actor (pun not intended) but I’m staying for the love story. Because I’m a sucker for emotionally broken and damaged men that are saved by the love of a woman who calls them out on their crap.

asian person: it’s okay to watch dr strange, i’ll probably end up watching it too, and it’s okay to enjoy it, but we should also be able to criticize it. the movie’s casting choices are racist, and that’s something we need to keep in mind and be aware of!
you guys: um, you didn’t know? your “fave” is a racist piece of shit trashcan. you thought he was a good person? [condescendingly shaking head] oh, to be innocent once more. aren’t you ashamed to be excited for this movie? get a grip and wake up to the real world, barbara
