do you ever just think about how depressing this series really is

1930s Animation: How it came about, What happened to it, What it influenced.

Hey guys! So recently as I’m sure a lot of you know, the 1930s style of animation has made a resurgence in the forms of Bendy and the Ink Machine and Cuphead! So I’m just making this to show where it comes from c:

Before you start though, I’ll be mentioning Max Fleischer in this post, and you can find out more about his life in the book Out of the Inkwell. I don’t have it myself as I’m pretty poor, but I’d love to read it soon <3

Was It Walt Disney?

It depends on what kind of style you’re thinking! Walt Disney’s work began with an animation known as Alice’s Wonderland (1923).

which, looking onto his future works, is a lot more different. The cartoon look is there; however, those famed Pac-Man eyes aren’t, neither are the rubberhose limbs and thick black characters. Those came into his work later on with his Mickey Mouse shorts such as Plane Crazy (1928) and the first animation to feature synchronized sound, Steamboat Willie (1928). The bouncy animation is there, squashing and stretching all the characters and objects!

Though, Steamboat Willie was actually not the first animation to feature Synchronized sound! That would be credited to  “Oh, Mabel, Mother, Pin a Rose on Me” (1924) (Which I actually can’t find…Here’s the song though!) and later on, My Ole Kentucky Home (1926).

There is a lot of…Drama….surrounding the relationship between the studios of Disney and Fleischer, but this isn’t going to be about that (though I may touch on it), I would definitely recommend looking it up though, it’s very fascinating.

Around this time, the scary looking Lip-Sync animation started to come along and the styles were fairly similar, though the Fleischer Car-Tunes were a lot more, in my opinion, clean, however didn’t fully stretch their characters as much as Disney had been doing later on.

Who are Fleischer Studios?

Fleischer Studios first opened around the 1920s as Inkwell Studios. It was created by brothers Max and Dave Fleischer, whom were Born and Raised in Poland. In 1914, Max Fleischer created the Rotoscope, a device that could allow the animator to create smoother productions as they had been drawn over Filmed reference.

Using this Process, they created the Out of the Inkwell (1918 - 1929) series, starring Koko the Clown!

Max included a lot more Live Action in his animations than Walt Disney and even revolutionised the way it worked due to his own inventions, including The Stereoptical Process (which I’ll show more on later), that gave him a good edge forwards during their prime. However, due to A Series of Not Quite Fortunate Events, he never quite overcame Disney and, unfortunately, his studio met a sad end.

What other Cartoons did they make?

Fleischer Studios made a surprising turn with bringing in Less Live action footage over time and creating more Lovable characters such as Bimbo The Dog and Betty Boop (1931). (Betty Boop being another can of worms entirely with the problems her design created and the blow it dealt the studio)

It was around this time that people could start to notice the style’s true beginnings. The famed Eyes had begun to appear, the Clearly Animated Flat props and characters over the detailed painted environments, and the rubberhose stretchiness of their movements.

Bringing in Cuphead as reference, both Hilda Berg and Cala Maria were heavily inspired by Betty boop’s design as mentioned by Studio MDHR’s Jake Clark in their GDC (Game Developer Conference) talk, which I’d definitely recommend watching.

Besides these characters, perhaps one of their other most Well known characters was Popeye the sailor man! featuring Sinbad, a character I’m fairly sure inspired the design of Cuphead’s Captain Brinybeard.

In this animation you can see every part of the style’s inspiration. The watercolour backgrounds, the flat Cel characters and their stretchy, rubbery movements, and, shown in the image above, the Two-Tone Technicolor process (A secret in Cuphead for those who don’t know). This was another issue between Disney and Fleischer, as well as their own Financial problems with Paramount Pictures, so they had to resort to using cheaper methods, resulting in the above image being created by layering a negative-spaced film reel through red and green filters (basically, it was complicated back in the day, no easy layers then).

I’d definitely recommend looking up more Fleischer cartoons too if you’d like inspirations for your own works or for the animation practise, such as Swing you Sinners (1930) which I honestly think is one of the biggest influences in terms of the recent style too!

Why does Disney have this style in their animations now?

Honestly I couldn’t tell you that myself, as personally I myself am not really a huge Disney fan. Considering his past with the studios he worked in or rivalled, I never really had a soft spot for him. However, I like to hope that he took inspiration from Max Fleischer. Max was unfortunately met with the worst circumstances with working under Paramount Pictures, The Great Depression hugely hitting his work, and his relationship with his brother Dave deteriorating. (honestly I wish this studio was still here and Paramount not).

You could say the style was stolen, or developed, or inspired, being shown in Mickey Mouse’s more updated designs as well as just a general staple of “Old Animation” with the eyes and Thick Black characters. Either way, it’s the fact Fleischer inspired generations with the little miracles he created that is the important thing. I wish people would stop attributing these qualities initially refined by Fleischer to Walt Disney and giving him more credit than he deserves, but that’s just my own opinion.

Should we keep making animation in this style, or move on?

Please keep making things in the old rubberhose animation styles. Yes it’s an old aesthetic and yes it’s not…the best out there, but it’s an incredibly endearing look that I think is a love letter to the old days of animation.

You will get those who pick at the details of how it doesn’t fit quite with the style (With Bendy being a victim, his proportions and shapes being very inaccurate if put into the Fleischer/Old Disney style), however, it’s how you bring that style and adapt it to the modern world, how you make it so that you’re not merely just going by the original rules of how you create these characters and worlds. Yes, Cuphead strictly stuck to these details as beautifully as possible, but Bendy was, though I’m not a fan of his design myself, a great addition and evolution of the style into the modern day.

As nice as it is to remember these styles for when they came from and what they were inspired by, it’s always nice to know it’s just that, a style. You can continue to create in that style as much as you want!

However, if you ever want to say/credit where the style came from, though Disney did create a style similar to this and adapted some of its individual aspects into their work later on after, the Vast majority of it comes from Fleischer Studios. It’s a common misconception, but an understandable one considering the studio no longer exists and how popular Disney is.

If you ever have more questions about it, go ahead and ask! I’d love to research more about animation and give you information on any specifics within the studio, the troubles they faced within themselves/with eachother or other studios that were present back then :D <3

Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches by Reiya, Explicit, 197k
A single event changes the course of Yuuri’s life, throwing him into a bitter rivalry with Viktor Nikiforov that spans across his entire skating career. But as the years go on, rivalry and hatred begin to develop into something very different and Yuuri doesn’t seem to be able to stay away, no matter how hard he tries. Hatred and love are two sides of the same coin and even though everything changes, some things are still meant to be. Oh, man, do these boys not communicate their feelings! Seriously one of the best fics I have ever read in ANY fandom. Love this fic so much.

fire on ice by indianchai, Teen, 15k (WIP)
Everyone in the world had some sort of affinity with one of the four elements; the proper term was elemental affinity– whether they were best suited with fire, water, earth, or air.All figure skaters were water users. Never in the history of the sport was there professional ice skater that didn’t have water as their elemental affinity. Katsuki Yuri had a well-guarded secret that he can’t have anyone find out about.

When every character has a sob story, no one does.

One of the main faux pas that I see young writers make is this idea that that they need to give every character a tragic backstory. There can be no happiness in the past for our main characters. Their childhoods must be steeped in sorrow to make them deep and tragic because being deep and tragic makes them interesting and no. That is just not true. A character can be interesting even if they had a perfectly normal and happy childhood.

That’s not the reason why I’m talking about this issue, though. I’m bringing it up because of a very real problem that comes with giving everyone a sob story: when every character has one, then no one does.

HOW SKAM’S ISAK AND EVEN REVOLUTIONIZED TEEN TV

The third season of Norwegian teen series Skam dismantled stereotypes, coerced schoolkids into skiving off classes and turned homophobes into rainbow flag-waving defenders—and it first began airing one year ago today. It was the “gay” season, charting the blossoming relationship of Isak Valtersen and Even Bech Næsheim, both coming to terms with their sexuality amidst a cutting background of teenage angst. Taking every fan poll I’ve ever come across into account, season three was by far Skam’s most popular. It broke streaming records in Norway, and television viewership records in neighboring Denmark and Sweden. Throughout its 10-episode run, it hardly left the list of worldwide trending topics on any given social platform.

With a short promo clip that could have been a stand in for a gay snuff film—jockish throbs in a locker room being showered with milk in slow motion—the series wasn’t afraid to shy away from explicitly homosexual subject matter. Or any hot button subject. Homophobia, bullying, mental health—nothing was off the cards for series creator Julie Andem.

SERIES MASTERLIST

“Dammit, Y/N! Don’t you dare hang up the phone! What the hell do you mean?!” Dean paced around his motel room, running his fingers through his hair continuously. They had just wrapped up a case in Nebraska, and was planning on visiting Bobby for some down time. Sam reminded his older brother that they haven’t seen Y/N in over several months, and he had been missing her.

“I understand, Dean,” she answered vaguely. Dean’s heart was thumping against his chest, as he tried to understand her message.

“What- What is it, sweetheart? What do you understand?” He started throwing clothes into his duffel bag, knocking on the bathroom door where Sam was currently showering.

“You and Sam need each other… But you don’t need me.” With that, she hung up.

“Y/N? Y/N?” Dean shouted into the phone, knowing that it would be futile. “Fuck.” He hung up his phone, and knocked louder against the bathroom door. “Sam! Get your ass out here.”

Sam opened the door with only his jeans, his face lined with annoyance. “The fuck Dean?”

“We’re leaving NOW!”

“What’s going on? Did you talk to Y/N?” Sam quickly put on his shirt, seeing the gravity of the situation in Dean’s eyes.

“Yea, but she kept saying things,” Dean answered vaguely, shaking his head as he continued to pack their stuff.

“What did she say?”

“She kept saying how she understands- how she knows that we needed each other, but we don’t need her.”

Sam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “Why makes her think that? She knows we love her.”

“I have a bad feeling about this, Sam. C’mon.”

Both brothers made their way to Bobby’s house with tension between them. The four-hour trip only lasting 3 hours with Dean’s driving. Nothing else had been said. Nothing else needed to be said. Not until they find Y/N, hopefully alive.

#MyParentsAreLosers - Batmom x Batfam

I couldn’t bring myself to write a “depressed Batmom” story today, and I really wanna write it well and all so…here’s a silly thing for you, to “wait” for an actual story. Warning : it’s stupid and not greatly written, probably a bit of a mess (I wrote that in three days, with 5 minutes available each day to do it so yeah…messy) This was requested (anonymously), a story about the Batboys introducing Batmom and Bruce to Instagram and Snapchat, but I can’t find the original message anymore so…Here, if you read this anon’, I hope you’ll like it :-) (I hope all of you guys will like it) :

My masterlist blog : https://ella-ravenwood-archives.tumblr.com

__________________________________________________

It’s Alfred who discovered it.

He read it in the Gotham Daily (neither you nor Bruce ever had time to read any newspapers, besides, both of you were getting a bit tired about the fact that almost every “news” was about you and him…).

As he was reading the article, for the first time in years, Alfred let it go. Thanks God he was alone in the house that day, as he bursted out in a loud and ridiculous laughter !

It made him laugh for hours, in fact (Damian and Tim coming home from school ruining his fun), and oh he had to tell you guys but…his majordome ways kept him from plainly coming to you and outright telling you.

At first, he tried to leave the actual article in places you could see it.

On the kitchen counter, for example, while you took your breakfast…But you never paid attention to anything before your third cup of coffee, even if it was right there in front of you, and by then Bruce would have joined you and you and him would be too focused on each other to realize that this damn article was on the kitchen counter !! AND OH MY GOD COULD YOU STOP KISSING AND LOOK AT THIS DAMN PIECE OF PAPER RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU ?! But it was too late, your kids were coming in and your focus would slightly shift from Bruce to them, the article would fall into the Oblivion as you just completely ignored it while doing your traditional conversation with your family. It was an old routine Alfred knew by heart.

He tried to put it in the bathroom, and found it soaked and teared…It was something, really, how you and Bruce could be so observant sometimes, and yet so blind some others.

He also tried the bed, laying it on your pillow where he’d be sure you’d find it…But the day he did that, Bruce came home early from patrol and you rushed upstairs rather fast and…Alfred found the sticky and…oh he’d rather not think about it, and just imagined that you guys were very sweaty when sleeping and…Let’s just never mention that episode ever again.

He put it on the computer in the Batcave, and found it, days later, under Bruce’s seat. How did it got there ? He had no idea, but what was sure is that the greatest detective in the World, the Goddamn Batman, didn’t notice that stupid piece of paper RIGHT ON HIS KEYBOARD !

His last resort was the library, where you spend most of your free times when the boys and Bruce weren’t around…He placarded it everywhere, putting it in every single books you were most likely to read that day and…What did you do ? Enter the damn library reading something already, so of course you didn’t pay attention to any of the articles, and you even used a few articles as bookmarks…Oh dear…

Alfred decided that it was time to stop trying to be subtle (though he could admit that his poor attempts at making you read this particular newspaper articles weren’t really “subtle”).

He gave up one morning, after three weeks of trying to make you guys read that damn article, and just shoved it in your face, right in front of the cup of coffee you were about to drink, so that you just HAD to read it.

“The children of the Wayne households post a series of pictures of their parents, and it goes viral” was the title of it.

What ?

It was early in the morning, and it took you a while before starting to understand what was happening.

To understand that your sons apparently kept posting pictures on the internet, of you and Bruce, with the caption (or “hashtag” as they called it) : #MyParentsAreLoosers, followed by the sentence “But I still love them”.

SKETCHY BEHAVIORS | Heather Benjamin (RH)

Through her dense and detailed packed line drawings to her more focused ink brush pieces, Rhode Island based artist Heather Benjamin’s work is visceral, cathartic, and autobiographical. It offers a completely unapologetic and unflinching look into an artists’ own struggles with life, body image, self confidence, and sexuality.  We find her and her art to be inspirational, honest and badass.

We recently ran into Heather at her booth at the LA Art Book Fair and caught up with her a few months later to ask about her art, her experiences at RISD, her influences, and her thoughts about her work and her life.

Part 2: Task: 12 Days of lesser known animated show/film recommendations

Hey, guys! I’ve been a bit down lately, so in order to give myself something to do, I decided to share with you all the lesser known, underrated or entirely hidden gems of the animated world (as far as I know), be it show or film.

Rules:

-The animation must be traditional (no CGI unless it’s minor and in the background; i’ll do an all CGI list later).

-The recommended work must have soothing, inspiring or otherwise admirable leads with realistic emotional connections.

-The plot of the story must be intriguing if not wholly believable and the artwork must meet certain aesthetic standards.

-The characters must have emotionally realistic interactions with one another in ratio to the time allowed for them to interact.

-The animation in question may be from anywhere in the world.

Also, feel free to clue me in on any that I don’t list, because I would really appreciate a new animated find!

As a matter of course, a great deal of the listed shows/films will be ‘anime’, simply because japanimation has the monopoly on the most unique and varied story lines, and Japan (and sometimes France) are the only ones making mostly traditionally drawn animated features still.

Alright, here we go … …

Day Two: Fairy Tale Films :)

The Day of the Crows

I absolutely adore this film. Not only is The Day of the Crows a superbly animated feast for the eyes, but the characters, lessons and honest interactions take it a level above most children’s films. Not only that, but the dialogue is wonderfully translated from the French to the English subtitles. As a matter of course, I prefer watching films in their original language unless the dub has some inventive dialogue or more adequate voice acting, but this little known gem isn’t likely to pick up a dub any time soon anyway, so all of you who only watch dubs should make an exception for this one.

It is the story of a young boy who has been raised by an ogre in the woods, until one day he must leave the protection of the trees for the nearby village in order to save someone precious to him. While there, he meets a young girl and begins to learn the touching history of his family. It’s a delightfully nuanced film. Really, don’t miss it!

Note: The title is mildly misleading, as any crow characters are showcased near the end of the film and don’t get much screen time. But why should that bother anyone?

A+

Fusé: Teppō Musume no Torimonochō

Is there any anime lover who would pass up a film with adorable characters and animal transformations? Well, I actually would pass up the ‘animal transformations’ part, but that may just be me. Fusé is a touching fairy tale centring around a young huntress who befriends a dog-like humanoid named Shino. What puts this movie a pitch above the other films out there with a similar premise is it’s refusal to give the characters more slack than any real person would get. People die…there’s a surprising amount of gore which I feel is somehow toned up despite the soft animation. It’s the sort of film that makes you laugh less because it’s funny and more because you know your window to find things humorous is rapidly disappearing. You want the characters to be happy….you think they should be because the film is so cute…but it’s the bitter-sweet trick of the story.

It’s based on the Hakkenden, an old Japanese novel series that details the exploits of the ‘Dog Warriors’, beings reincarnated from the slaughtered spawn of a princess and her dog lover. This is part of why I can forgive the dog-creature theme, because the characters within the story on a few separate occasions refer to the story as a ‘counterfeit’ or parody of the Hakkenden

A

Snow Maiden

An old Russian animation about a young woman who is the child of Spring and Winter, stepping into a village for the first time and learning that she does not have the capacity to love as other humans do. It’s very touching, very whimsical, and in the end bitter-sweet. I’d recommend it for the beautiful artwork alone, but the characters are given a surprising amount of life considering how old the film is. It’s clearly a labour of love.

A+

The Dead Princess and the Seven Knights

An old Russian film based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The most fantastic thing about this film is that from start to finish the entirety of the script is one looong poem, complete with rhymes. I believe this film, Snow Maiden and The Twelve Months are all apart of the same collection, but these three are not dubbed into English, like some of the better known in the series, such as The Snow Queen.

A

The Twelve Months

If you are familiar with this film, it may be because you’ve watched the anime incarnation. I’d advise you to watch this one instead. Not only are the characters a bit more vital, but the art is a step above the anime and the humour is a bit more fluid. It is a Cinderella-like tale about a girl who wanders into the woods after being forced to preform an impossible task, and receives guidance from the Twelve Months, who are portrayed as a band of merry males of various ages having a meeting around a camp fire in the dead of winter.

A

Kirikou and the Sorceress

Kirikou and the Sorceress is a fascinating film about a young boy who, from the moment he is born, is able to talk and think like an adult. But he is still only a baby, and is very small because of it, which causes troubles between him and the towns people, and eventually gets the attention of a wicked sorceress that finds him a nuisance as he starts to use his size for unusual heroic feats.

Every character is fun, the dialogue is insightful and the resolution is terribly sweet.

A+

Tales of the Night

A series of re-worked fairy tales told through ‘shadow puppet’ visuals. Beautiful stories, really. All of the interactions between the characters are unique and admirable, and every tale has a satisfying conclusion. You may think the shadow puppet look takes away from it, but, really, it only gives you a bit more emotion to savour since every character looks pretty much the same, allowing their intentions to nakedly drive the stories, rather than their looks.

A

The Last Unicorn

Based on the book of the same name, and with a screen play by the author, this film is one of the better known ‘hidden gems’. The story follows the ‘last unicorn’, as she searches for others of her kind, who are being held captive in a barren land that is very far away from her gentle forest. She gathers loyal and endearing companions along the way, and eventually looses a bit of herself in the throws of a pseudo-romance with a prince.

It’s a classic. The animation is unique and whimsical, and the pacing, characters and eventual resolution are all wonderful. It was my favourite film as a child.

A+

The Princess and the Pilot

The Princess and the Pilot is a touching tale about the blooming tenderness and self-awareness between a pilot and the princess he is tasked with transporting across the ocean. There is political intrigue, bold decisions and the rude awakenings of reality in a war torn country. Both the leads are relatable and worth the care you inevitably develop toward them. And though the ending is a little frustrating, it is handled in a realistic and tentative manner that shows the meaning of personal feelings, even if physical circumstances can’t reflect them.

A-

Miss Hokusai

Miss Hokusai is the fictional and slightly sensationalised biography of an actual historical figure from the Japanese artistic past. The story is told in a series of self-contained artistic episodes that explore the philosophy needed to produce vital art, by teaching the characters emotional lessons through supernatural interactions. It’s very unique and telling, and every character has a degree of believably that is pleasantly attention grabbing. Some might complain that the formatting leaves a bit to be desired, but I’m pretty sure this is all intentional.

A+

Princess Arete

Princess Arete is one of those rare princess films that is all about a princess and her character building, and not at all about romance.

Little Princess Arete is kept in a tower where she grows increasingly depressed, despite her night time slips into the town bellow her window. By a bitter sort of luck, she is kidnapped by a wizard, and from here able to experience the world, albeit under a curse. The film has a very charmed and truthful grasp on the meanings in minor interactions and it never betrays the passionate heart of it’s female lead.

It’s a bit slow, but if you watch movies for the enrichment they provide and not for the face paced thrills, this one may be for you.

A+

Magic Boy

An old Japanese feature from the ‘60′s about a young boy who must do battle with a wicked witch to protect his home and family. The characters are enjoyable, the battles are pretty neat and the animation is a proto-perfect anime film suite. Honestly, if you’ve seen Kubo and the Two Strings and then you see this, you may feel, as I have, that it is like the spiritual grandfather to Kubo

A+

The Life of Guskou Budori

If you’ve ever seen Night on the Galactic Railroad, these two may look familiar to you. As you watch Guskou, you may develop the suspicion that the characters are an alternate incarnation or perhaps even a canon reincarnation of Giovanni and Campanella.

The Life of Guskou Budori is about said titular character as he navigates life after the death (otherworldly kidnapping?) of his younger sister during a great famine. The animation is simply gorgeous, and if you can forgive the incredibly vague narrative, you may just find yourself walking along a very enchanted dream.

Like Galactic Railroad, all of the characters are anthropomorphised cats. I’m unsure why that is, but it’s cute and inventive. It too, is based on a book. If you haven’t seen Night on the Galactic Railroad, I would also recommend that one, as it is very touching and poetic, but it is very slow. If you happen to like both of them, the anime Spring and Chaos, another anthropomorphic cat tale, may be for you, as it is about the guy who wrote the two aforementioned stories.

B+

Tales from Earthsea

If you are a studio Ghibli fan, you may be in for a treat. This is a loose adaptation of Ursula K. LeGuin’s seminal work the Earthsea series. It wraps into one film the characters and issues of four books, and so it doesn’t do the books much justice as it has bit off a bit more than it can chew. But if you accept it as an entirely different story that happens to have similar magical rules and the same names as the Earthsea series character’s have, the film is quite good.

Young Arren is a disturbed young man who runs away from his posh life and is picked up by the Arch-mage Ged. After making a special friend and fighting a deranged wizard, Arren learns how to own up to his fears and find peace despite his crimes. I recommend watching the original Japanese dub, as it is a bit more insightful about the Earthsea world.

It is directed by Miyazaki’s son Goro. If you like this film, you may like his other, more well rounded film From Up On Poppy Hill (my favourite Ghibli film), and Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle, which is an adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones’s book of the same name (and a far more skillfully crafted adaptation than Tales from Earthsea. The perks of being a seasoned animator, I guess).

If you like the films, or even if you don’t, I recommend reading the Earthsea series and the Howl’s Moving Castle series. I prefer the latter.

A by itself, B-/C+ if compared to the books.

Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice is one of those barbarian films from the early 80′s. It’s got action and romance and wild prehistoric beasts, an obvious bad guy that’s still pretty well rounded despite his minor screen time and a bit of sorcery that you can laugh at if your mind is dirty enough to catch the innuendos. In a nutshell, Fire and Ice is a great late night blast from the past that every child of the 90′s should see at least once.

With art overseen by the legendary Frank Frazetta, I think any serious artist could find this film pretty rad as well.

A-

The Cat Returns

The Cat Returns is a fascinating continuum of Shizuku’s story from Whisper of the Heart (another Ghibli film). It’s a fairy tale to the max, complete with a dapper cat ‘prince’ and woefully silly damsel-in-distress. It’s a lesser known Ghibli film, which is why it’s on the list, and if you do watch it, I recommend pairing it with Whisper of the Heart, a high school drama about a young girl’s blossoming romance and her attempt to write a novel, since it’s only right to see the little strings that connect the two tales.

It’s funny, charming and the Baron has a British accent ;) Mmm-mm delish!

Whew! What a long list!

Next time: Best Comedy Supernatural animated shows/films.

Värvet pod with Bill Skarsgard.

Bill Skarsgard, 27 years old and already spot on as an actor. It’s not news that Bill Skarsgard is a flaming hot name in Hollywood. Now he’s on the big screen in over 70 countries worldwide. He has walked the old path to a great career, from smaller jobs that developed into bigger ones. Bill has before IT gotten smaller attention in the media. He’s born 1990, fourth child of Stellan Skarsgard. It’s been seven years since his debut in Simple Sinom and Behind blue skies. In 2013 he got his first international role in Hemlock Grove. He’s in Sweden to promote his new upcoming movie IT.

Kristoffer: Talk.

Bill: Hello, Hello, can you hear me?

K: Yes I can hear you perfectly.

B: Little to good maybe.

K: You’re good.

*Laughing*

K: Where are we?

B: We’re at The Grand Hotel.

K: Yes that’s right, how are you?
B: I’m good, very good. I currently at my third cup of coffee for the day.

K: Well, now you’ve been acting for such a long period of time, yet you’ve only had this amount of attention these past 4 years.
B: I don’t think I’ve ever had this amount of attention before. It a new feeling however ti’s a movie that’s got a worldwide interest which is a rather odd feeling.

K: How does it feel, I mean it’s a part of your job?
B: It’s surreal. So many people interested in the movie, for example Dwayne ’The Rock’ Johnson the muscle guy in Fast and Furious posted a picture of Pennywise and wrote that it was his favorit movie, the directors and actors are great and that Bill Skarsgard is a great Pennywise. It’s absurd since he got over 90 Million followers. Plus the movie is out now in the US.

K: Do you enjoy it? The attention.
B: I don’t know. I like the experience, it’s fun and all that yet I can’t say I’m someone who enjoys or finds it necessary to get all the attention. I like to separate my private life and my professional acting life. Like I don’t have the need for Twitter and Instagram.

K: Yet you’re active on social media right?
B: No.

K: So you have other people doing it for you then?
B: No, there’s no one doing that or what do you mean?

K: Because I’m following you all those platforms you just mentioned. Or I thought I did.
B: Really? But no, that’s not me. I know that there’s is Twitter accounts that claiming to be me and then there’s fan accounts but they’ve made it very clear that they’re only fan accounts. However I’m not so sure what to do about that. I’ve thought about creating an account so people would know the truth like even you believe that those accounts were real.

K: Okay because it says ’Sorry for being so bad at posting here, I’m using my Instagram more’ which makes it rather believable.
B: I think it’s rather creepy. *Laughs*

K: For me it’s huge that you been sitting next to Jimmy Kimmel as a guest, how did it feel?
B: Absurd. I thought what am I supposed to do on an american talkshow for the first time. Who am I supposed to be? That nice, relaxed and perfect actor, being THE moviestar or that awkward, mystical artist. It’s the question about who you present yourself to an audience. Beforehand I had some ideas. Who are you supposed to be infront of an audience at Jimmy Kimmel. I was told a few week before that I was going to be on Jimmy Kimmel and got terrified, fun and surreal. As time passed I got calm since being on Jimmy Kimmel is just like doing any other interview I do all the time. However not to make this story longer than it has to be I got there and they guided me into this greenroom with my agents and managers to get ready. As I’m getting ready there’s this screen with the show on so I’m sitting there, getting my make up ready and Jimmy suddenly said ’Tonights guest is Bill Skarsgard from IT’. When I heard that it was such a bizarre feeling, like there’s one of those glitches in Matrix, he’s not supposed to say my name. Then someone walks inside and says that it’s my turn before guiding me into this room which is not bigger than a wardrobe with a big door. They explain to me what’s going to happen, that Jimmy will say a few things before the door opens before they leaved me alone in there. However I think they did that a little too early since I probably stood there for about 2 minutes as the show is ongoing outside that big door. When I finally walked out and me Jimmy for the first time I wanted to say that ”This feels like a glitch in Matrix” however he just says ”Hi you’re from Sweden how’s that?” and I’m just like ”Ehm, yeah it’s good,” which made him smile. Then I realized that I have no control over this what so ever, all I need is to keep up with him thought out the interview.

K: So you didn’t know what he would say beforehand?
B: Yes, before meeting him I had a smaller interview with the team and project leaders told me that Jimmy would talk about my Swedish origin in the beginning.

K: Then the question is, which Bill Skarsgard did we see on Jimmy Kimmel?
B: I have to say myself. When I had thought about it, it felt better to just be myself. I didn’t feel like being someone I’m not. Yet it’s a pretty deep question who you are when you really think about it.

K: Now you’ve been working over there for about five years now, I know that when you first got there you got a language coach. As a guest on Jimmy Kimmel, did you feel nervous about letting your Swedish tongue slip through?
B: No, I’ve been over there for such a long time now. I think I’ve even reached that point where it feels easier to express myself in English than in Swedish or at least it takes some time to switch to Swedish when I return home. As I said it’s because I’ve been there for such a long time, I have been doing a lot of interviews, jobs and not to mention I have very close friends there as well.

K: Amazing, I actually spoke to a close friend that moved to New York and told him that he’s like a whole new person when he’s speaking English. When he speaks Swedish he this very self-contained which is the total opposite when he’s speaking English, then he’s all flirty and such.
B: Really?
K: Yes
B: Did you notice that or did he tell you?
K: I noticed it yet I don’t know if he agrees with me. So my question is do you feel like you’re different when you’re speaking English?
B: I don’t think so. Swedish people are one of the best English speakers from non english speaking countries, as well as Holland. Like you don’t have to learn Swedish to talk to a swede, you can speak English to anyone. However when you’re in a country or in a group with English as their native language then you might feel a little restrained since you can tell jokes in the same way and when you try to tell a story or so it get’s all confusing. For me I had that feeling when I was younger however I think I’ve developed so much and I don’t feel restrained when I’m speaking which is amazing.

K: Have you listened to Värvet before?
B: A little yet I don’t listen a lot on radio. You do podcasts as well right?
K: This is a podcast.
B: See, I can’t tell.

K: I usually got more time to interview my guests so let’s get to it. You’re Pennywise in IT, this might sound odd, but is Pennywise a main character?
B: Ehm.. I wouldn’t say that. I am the titel roll, but the shark in Jaws is not the main character (In Swedish is: Hajen in Hajen.)
K: The shark didn’t won an Oscar.
B: Or the T-rex in Jurassic Park. I’m doing the iconic character but no the main.

K: Your career in America has gone by fast, how do you feel about it?
B: No, I don’t know if I feel that way. The first international project I ever did was Hemlock Grove over five years ago. I’m 27 now so five years is a pretty long period of time. I’m a whole new person now than I was back then yet I won’t be a new person in five years. The age 22-27 there’s a log going on and you develop as a human being. So my career since my first job till now have been a long one.

K: The most difficult times?
B: In life or?
K: These years, but yeah sure.
B: I don’t know. When I first read the scrip to Hemlock Grove I loved the pilot. I thought that it would be an interesting project with a script I loved, the words were amazing and the writer whose one of my best friends today. However I didn’t know him then. Sadly I got to see what the industry can do to a project. It didn’t develop in the direction I thought it would, there was a lot of politics surrounding it. It was rather odd for me because when you work with movies or series, in Sweden you have a director who’s written the script him/herself and is fully in charge. In the end of Hemlock Groveit felt like no one or everyone were in charge. Then suddenly they changed the writer and practically everyone else before season 2-3. It went from a character I loved to someone who said things I didn’t like and the story was not what I expected. The last year in Toronto with a temperature about 20 below zero. I’ve never faced such a chilly climate and I’m from Stockholm, however then it felt like my character where in the hands of others. As the result of that I lived a very destructive life with Landon who also starring in Hemlock Grove.

K: You’ve said that before, living destructively, what do you mean? Drugs and alcohol?
B: Well, the destructive part is that you don’t care for yourself. Some people might never leave the bed but I’m not like that. I got myself into destructive relationships in one way or another. I wouldn’t call it depression since it’s something completely different and way more serious. Maybe more aggression. Yet when I look back those years were very formative for me. I got a lot of experience about the industry, everything behind it, politics and how I react to it. I wouldn’t change it for anything.
K: Yet you’re not proud of the outcome of the product?
B: People like the series and it got some charm to it. A few things are nice yet for me it’s more about my own personal journey. The series were based on a book I liked, then people who shouldn’t be involved with the creative process joined the production.
K: Then you shouldn’t work with advertising, that happens everyday.
B: I can see that.
K: You said you didn’t do anything else after that for about six months.
B: Correct.
K: How do you feel about that?
B: I don’t know. As an actor you get a lot of free time, between jobs you’re unemployed. I like free time when you got a job but I dislike being unemployed since I don’t know when or if I’m getting my next job. It’s rather stressful.

K: How do you deal with that?
B: I don’t know. I’m trying to keep myself occupied, trying to develop my own things.
K: Are you writing something on your own?
B: Yes, I’ve started recently since I find it rather intriguing. I don’t like the passiveness in being an actor, you always rely on other people thing about you. It makes you feel helpless which I don’t like. That’s why I want to create things on my own. Now I need to find a script I like, then I have to fit to the script to get a chance to go to an audition so I can try to convince them that I can do it.
K: Can you say anything about what you’re writing?
B: Yes, I’m writing a script to a short film. I’m taking small steps to get to where I want in the future, to direct as well.
K: I wanted to avoid to talk about your family, however it feel like you’re the only one doing that out of everyone whose acting.
B: No, Gustaf and Alexander has written and even directed a few things.
K: Oh sorry for my lack of information.
B: Everyone has different needs. My father has never directed even if I think he would be amazing at doing so but he doesn’t have that need.

K: You’re literally the it actor now. How do you managing with that?
B: I’ve got one agent and manager in the US. They are very good at doing business over there. I only pay my agents when I’ve been given a job. They are extremely good at their job, woking to get the job, build an interest around me, making sure that job open other doors to more interesting productions for me.
K: What are you aiming for?
B: I want my acting to become something I can work with my whole life. I don’t want to end up at Marvel, DC or the other popcorn movies. I don’t have an interest in that. I want to establish myself, work with interesting and inspiring parts. What’s motivating me is opening new doors and meet new people.

K: Are you allowed to tell what you earn with a movie like IT?
B: Ehm no… Well I’m allowed to but I don’t like to talk about it.

K: I have to say that I know a certain child who accidentally stumbled upon the IT trailer which has given me a few sleepless nights.
B: And how did this certain someone see it?
K: On YouTube.
B: Did you show it?
K: No, he/she found it.
B: You have to be careful. You can say you’ve met me and that it’s not real.
K: Before he/she went to bed I said that IT lives in the US and that it’s not real before asking what sounded more reliable and got the answer that it wasn’t real.
B: That’s good.

K: We talked about language. I think its difficult to tell when for example Swedish shines through in the accent, it only happens a few times that I notice it. Is it easier to act on English in productions? Now since you gotten more used to the language.
B: First of all it’s more difficult to act when you don’t fully master the language. I will never be able to speak a language as good as the one with the language as their mother tongue. In Swedish you can quickly hear when it’s false or if it sounds strange, stressed words. The better you master a language the better you are able to deliver the lines. Yet you can deliver a line perfectly however the melody or how you say it can destroy it. Sometimes when people from english speaking countries watch Swedish movies they can say ”That was a good actor,” because they can see the feeling behind the lines they don’t understan.
K: Maybe that’s why Wallander has reached such success internationally even if Krister Henriksson isn’t proud over the movies.

K: What are you doing at the moment?
B: Filming for Hulu. I don’t think we got Hulu in sweden, the big companies are Netflix, Amazon and Hulu and probably in that order as well. Hulu made The Handmaiden’s Tale which was viewable on HBO Nordic. However the series is called Castle Black and Stephen King is exclusive producer.
K: He likes you.
B: *Laughs* At least the ones behind the project likes me. However Castle Black is a city that’s reoccurring in King’s books. I’m not allowed to say anything yet there’s a new story in each season and I’m in the first one. I’m leaving on Monday for Boston. It’s a fun, interesting character and different from what I’ve done before but it’s still a scary theme.
K: Typecasting, does that ever worry you?
B: I don’t know. I think as an actor you need to work against your type, making sure you’re not working with the same thing over and over, to get new challenges. With that said I like dark characters, stories which I have nothing against. It inspires me.

K: Have you met Stephen King?
B: No.
K: I saw an interview with him where he says that he liked you as IT.
B: Yes, he likes the movie which it rather unusual since he’s rather difficult to impress. If he likes something, he will say it. If he doesn’t like something he will say it. But for him to say that he likes it means very much for everyone involved.

K: In previous interviews you’ve said that you don’t have a home. Do you?
B: No.
K: What do you want right now?
B: My girlfriend and I are looking for places in Stockholm right now even if I probably won’t be there as much. I don’t own anything and I never had so it’s about time. Stockholm will always be my home even if I live somewhere else.

K: Do you want to recommend something?
B: I’ve been listening to Sam Harris podcast named The Waking Up Call. There are interesting guests and you will enjoy it if you like politics, science and essential issues. I don’t agree with everything he says but there are good discussions.
K: Who do you think I should interview on Värvet?
B: I’m not good at this… I don’t know.
K: It’s okay, I need to take a picture with you know before time is up. Thank you so much for this interview.

I translated this interview/podcast rather quickly. I tried to pick up everything. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, english is not my native langue so I apologize for any grammatical errors. I’ve never done this before either!

On Narrators, Observers and the Sun Arc

So for once I’m going to make a meta on how things might not be as bad as they look. It’s shocking, I know. There’s something I’ve noticed though, that was revealed this chapter that I have not seen anybody else talking about.

That the narrator who carries such an objective and flourishing style in narration that was almost absent from Tokyo Ghoul with the exception of the end of chapter and beginning of chapter brief segments, is none other than Furuta himself. Not only that but for most of the time, these narrations are completely objective and more descriptive of the situation around him rather than Furuta’s actual thoughts and emotions.

A/N: This is my last chapter from the series, and though it doesn’t have smut and it might not satisfy all readers, I do hope you enjoyed and continue to stick around after this fic to see the others I have in store. This was my first actual series/fic to write and start here on Tumblr, and I’m glad I had such great support for it!

>Something a little different< (supercorp AUs)

The supercorp fics on this list stand out in my mind because of how creative they are. Some include Kara’s powers and some do not. Many of the fics have downright otherworldly features about them.

Don’t forget to leave kudos and a comment! Thank you to all the hardworking supercorp writers in the fandom <3

  • Made of Stars by @gveret-fic
    • My summary: The actual summary of the fic on ao3 is so perfect/intriguing. I would just add that it was cool to see Kara at a heightened level of power. Kara is gay as hell even as a god.
    • Word count: 8858
    • Tags I would add: All hail mighty deity!Kara, if Supergirl’s protecting everyone then who protects Supergirl?
  • Her Brother’s Keeper by @professorspork
    • My summary: This was basically a love letter to Lena Luthor and I was absolutely living for it. I read it for the first time two days ago and I’m still thinking about how lovely it was. The first chapter’s written like an article that Kara wrote about Lena and someone made really cool art for it, which you can see in chapter 3!
    • Word count: 7910
    • Tags I would add: wow Kara is so ~sneaky~ in that article, Lena Luthor needs to be wrapped up in a blanket burrito
  • Terminal Velocity by donteatmyfingerprints
    • My summary: I, too, saw the grim reaper as this fic KILLED me. I’ll never forget how I felt after reading this.
    • Word count:  5169
    • Tags I would add: lots of death mentions, dark past, afterlife
  •  The Ineluctable Path to Being by donteatmyfingerprints
    • My summary: Lena Luthor has brought Kara to life with science and continues to learn what that means. I still think about this fic and the one I listed above a lot. They’ve really stayed with me. (First part to a two part series.)

    • Tags I would add: inventor & creation dynamics, robot modifications, fear of robots, conversations about autonomy
  • The Ecstasy of Always Bursting Forth by @seabiscuits-us
    • My summary: This gothic AU has been on my “to-read” list for a while and when I finally got around to reading it, I was totally blown away at the details and the thought that was put into it. There are elements of mystery and romance with a teensy tiny bit of horror. Very fitting of a chilly October day.
    • Word count: 11,857 (WIP)
    • Tags I would add: midnight snacks, queerness, Cat Grant being a hardass, lustful thoughts, mentions of letter writing
  • A Ribbon at a Time by @abcooper
    • My summary: Have you ever wondered how Kara would’ve turned out if she didn’t grow up with a loving family and had to live an angry, lonely life on the streets? How Kara would’ve only been able to survive because of her secret identities and constant moving?? How she would eventually land a delivery job that throws her into Lena Luthor’s orbit and never stops thinking about when CADMUS will eventually kill her??? Probably not because that would be really fucking DARK…
    • Word count: 27,929
    • Tags I would add: wonderfully surprising amount of details related to Kara’s financial struggles and efforts to conceal alien identity, depressing backstory, absence of bubbly/smiley Kara, flirty af Lena Luthor
  • And when it’s done we will walk where the road meets the sun by @zefrumiousbandersnatch
    • My summary: I don’t want to give too much away, but this one was quite the whirlwind. The author’s note says, “Hold on to your seats. It’s going to be bat shit crazy.” One of the best action/adventure supercorp plots! It gets really dark/apocalyptic at one point, but the ending is a happy one.

Things To Love About Tamaki Suoh

- Would 100% fight you if you upset one of his friends

- Is super forgiving even of those who don’t deserve it

- Deliberately invited the loners at school into his club and taught them to love themselves and to be kind to others

- Tries so hard to include everyone

- Puts up with the twins pranks because he loves them just as they are and wants them to be happy

- Immediately decides Kyoya is new best bro when he arrives

- WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR HARUHI

- Gets depressed if his friends are sad

- One time when Hikaru nearly died on a ski trip ( the most heart stopping moment in the manga like holy shit we all thought it was taking a dark turn)
Tamaki is so distressed he drops everything he’s doing and rushes to the ski resort to be at Hikaru’s side and to make sure Kaoru is okay and is honestly the biggest mess the entire time.Kaoru ends up trying to calm Tamaki down. When Hikaru turns out to be okay besides a concussion, minor hypothermia , and exhaustion, Tamaki is so relieved and gets super emotional and it’s just such a touching scene I STILL get all weepy about it tbh

- LOVES ANIMALS

- Is so kind ??? Like he even recruits a kid who’s literally a future mob boss into the host club because he sees the kid is lonely and sad ??? And Casanoda is so grateful like Tamaki literally helped turn his life around

- HAS A DOG THAT HE LOVES WITH ALL HIS HEART

- Is so high key excited all the time that I honestly think he’s related to Victor Nikiforov ( NO BUT LIKE FOR REAL HE TOTALLY IS)

- Is actually so smart he reads really complex books in English even though it’s not his native language ? Like he learned Japanese within a few months when he moved to Japan I mean ???

- Is so culturally respectful ? He tries so hard to understand local custom and be respectful about it ? Like in the manga he’s always going on about historical Japanese traditions and famous Japanese people and begging Kyoya to visit historic places with him and honestly it’s the cutest thing to me that Tamaki throws himself into new cultures so purely

-No but he bonded with his grandmother because they both obsessed over this old tv series based in ancient Japan and TAMAKI LEARNED HOW TO PLAY ALL THE MUSIC THE SHOW EVER FEATURED and he plays it on the piano for his grandma

- TAMAKI GOT TO SEE HIS MOM AGAIN HE GETS HER BACK YOU GUYS

AND HE WAS JUST SO HAPPY SHE WAS OKAY

Like she’s crying because she thinks he’ll be mad at her because she was forced to give him up and he’s just like
“ Mom no , I’m glad you did it because I’m happier now and you’re healthy ”

- Hugs people a lot

-Always down for adventures if you want one

- Tries really hard to be liked by everyone

- Travels overseas to support his girlfriend??? GOALS

- Never pressures Haruhi into being ANYTHING other than herself , even though he comments sometimes about how he’d like to see her in feminine things , he never tries to force her to wear something she doesn’t like

- Thinks Haruhi is beautiful no matter what

- Gets super flustered when Haruhi gives him any kind of romantic attention

( she hugged him in public once and he blushed beet red and got all speechless it was adorable )

( BONUS- SHE HUGGED HIM BECAUSE KYOYA TOLD HER TAMAKI WOULD GET FLUSTERED, KYOYA YOU LITTLE SHIPPER)

- Is so genuine in his praise and it’s so pure ?

Like he’s not flirting he honestly does think every girl is beautiful

- So Extra about everything , no wonder Kyoya is so tired

Unrequited Love: Sequel

Yoosung

To say the least… he felt empty.

It had been weeks since the RFA party where he’d met you and cut off contact, but already, he felt that his life suddenly seemed colourless and empty again. Void of meaning. Void of love.

Heaving a sigh, he turned to a more comfortable position on his bed by resting on his back. He raised his phone to his eyes, staring blankly at his lock screen. It was empty, lacking the message notifications that he had gotten used to seeing on his phone for the past few months.

He groaned, covering his face with his hands, “Why am I even expecting anything from her? I was absolutely horrible to her…”

However, Yoosung only felt more and more restless as the hours slipped by. No matter what he tried to distract himself, whether it was gaming, eating, or cleaning the house, his thoughts kept wandering back to you.

Aaah, this is boring… I remember it used to be more fun when I called MC while doing this…

What is she doing? Who is she with right now? How does she look when facing them? Is she smiling? Is she… happy?

Why do I feel so empty? Even though I don’t like her… even though she’s not like Rika…

He couldn’t understand his own feelings, so he decided to ask the best person he knew.

And that’s how Yoosung found himself sitting across a glaring Zen in Jaehee’s café.

“Seriously? You’re gonna ask advice from me about MC? I don’t know if you fuckin’ remember, but you broke her heart. Don’t even think about getting her back,” Zen scoffed, his arms crossed as he gazed pointedly at the younger male.

Yoosung hung his head, a sigh escaping his lips. “I know, and I’m sorry,” he mumbled. “But I can’t stop thinking about her.”

“It’s not me you should be apologizing to,” Zen responded coldly, unimpressed.

Yoosung clenched his fists on the table. “Well what can I do?!”

“Move on from her. It’s the best thing for both of you. Clearly, you’re still not over Rika’s death, which means you’re in no state to be diving headfirst into any relationships. You need time to move on, and I’m definitely not letting you drag MC down while you’re feeling so conflicted.”

“…”

“Besides, she’s already moved on. You should, too.”

Yoosung’s head shot up, his eyes wide. His mouth dropped open in shock, but no sound came out.

Zen raised his eyebrows in slight surprise. “You didn’t know?” He cocked his head to the counter, gesturing for Yoosung to look there. “She’s with Jaehee, now. After you broke her heart that night, Jaehee brought her home and took care of her. And they’re deep in love. They see each other for who they really are. I’m not going to let you ruin their happiness.”

Even Yoosung understood how much better Jaehee would treat MC than he could.

“I understand. I’ll give up,” he whispered hoarsely, a sad smile on his face. He chuckled humourlessly, tears welling up in his eyes, “I have no right to be with her, anyway.”

Zen

Today, the actor was angry.

Lately, he’d been doing really well in his career—after being the star of his previous musical, he’d been brought into the spotlight and was invited to numerous shows and ceremonies limited to famous celebrities. He had been so successful lately, but then he had missed a few rehearsals from being sick after a night of heavy drinking, and his understudy took his place.

And now that understudy had taken his spotlight.

Fuck!” Zen swore in frustration, throwing sheets from the script off of his normally organized table. Tears sprung in his eyes, which he angrily wiped away with the back of his forearm.

He had worked his ass off to get the star position. He had spent hours rehearsing his lines, practising his movements in the mirror, and working out to get his body in even better shape so that he could convince the director to give him the leading role.

“That role belongs to me,” he wept, choking on his hot tears, clinging onto his dining table to hold his weight. He couldn’t stand. The disappointment was unbearable. He had worked so, so hard.

Zen squeezed his eyes shut, curling into a ball as he tried to block out his own thoughts. What should he do? What could he do to relieve himself of this pain? How had he even survived all those hellish evenings of torturous practices?

His eyes snapped open as he remembered. The name slipped past his lips before he realized, echoing in his ears. “MC…”

His gaze trailed to his phone, which was lying on the floor, its screen broken amidst his rage. He crawled over, unable to find the energy to stand up. His fingers trembling, he grabbed the phone, unlocking it with difficulty. He tried to find your contact, scrolling through his messages…

Huh? Where’s MC…?

Realization struck him. That’s right. He had never saved your contact, and he’d deleted your message history once he won the bet. That’s all you had been to him—a bet.

So why was he thinking about you, of all the people he’s ever met in his life, right now, when he was at his lowest?

Suddenly, he remembered what Seven had once told him.

“Ugh, why do they always give me the bad-boy-with-a-kind-heart roles?! I want to try something new, something more challenging!” Zen had been complaining one day.

Seven laughed merrily, “You know, Zen, I read somewhere that you can never really act a character unless there’s a part of you that can actually connect with them.”

“Hmm? What do you mean?”

“There’s always some truth in a lie. Or, in this case, an act,” the redhead elaborated.

Thinking back to Seven’s words, Zen finally figured it out. The reason it had been so easy, so natural for him to pretend like he was interested in you… The reason he would willingly stay up at night to talk to you, even though he could’ve easily brushed you off if you were really nothing special to him… The reason he was even thinking about you right now…

“I’m in love,” he murmured softly, the words passing through his lips before his mind could even process it. He shook his head in disbelief, letting out a hysterical laugh before he held his face in his hands. He repeated to himself, “I’m in love with MC… Shit.”

He allowed himself to fall backwards onto the floor, wincing as he felt a glass shard stabbing into his back. Must’ve been one of the beer bottles that he’d thrown in his earlier rage. Zen hung an arm over his eyes, letting the material of his clothing soak up the fresh set of tears that he just couldn’t hold in.

“I’m an idiot,” he whispered to himself, pain seeping through his voice.

Fin. | ZEN ALTERNATIVE ENDING:

A series of frantic knocks came at his door. Zen remained still on his floor, ignoring the noise. This happened often—fans would come looking for him once they found out his address. But right now, he didn’t have the energy to deal with his fans. And he definitely didn’t want to show his puffed up face and messed up apartment.

But his ears caught the sound of a familiar voice, and he shot up immediately, scrambling on his knees to stand. Zen wondered, MC? There’s no way she’s here. But… that’s her voice. Her sweet, sweet voice, calling my name… Maybe I’m dreaming…

But there was no mistaking it as he neared the door. He looked through the peephole, eyes squinted as he tried to make out who was at his door in the dark of night. He had to blink away a few tears to clear his vision, but then he immediately recognized your face, and unlocked the door, dragging you in with a big hug.

“Why are you here, you idiot?” he sobbed, clinging onto your small figure desperately. “I was so cruel… You know how horrible I was… I broke your heart on purpose. I don’t deserve to be called a man. I’m the worst. I’m the worst. I’m so sorry, I’m sorry…”

He repeated his apologies over and over again, just holding onto you tightly. You reached behind him to rub his back in an attempt to soothe him. God, he’s a mess, you thought to yourself.

When he finally calmed down, he asked quietly, “…Why are you here?”

“I heard the news that you’re being replaced… I figured it would be hard for you to handle it. I know how hard you worked for the role, after all… So, I phoned Seven and he told me your address,” you replied softly, stroking his hair.

“But… why?” He shook his head, unsatisfied by your answer. “I was so awful to you. I honestly don’t deserve you… Why would you come even after I did that to you?”

You offered a sad smile. “Because I love you. And even if you don’t feel the same… even if you think I’m nothing… I would still do anything for you. Because I’m an idiot, and I love you.”

Pain tugged at his heart as he listened to your confession. “But wait, MC, I love you t-“

You covered your ears, taking a step back from him. Heartbrokenly, you admitted to him, “No. You don’t, Zen. You only feel that way because you’re feeling down right now, and you’re reaching to the closest, easiest person for comfort. You’re only fooling yourself into loving me… Please don’t tell me that you love me if you don’t really mean it. Please… don’t break my heart a second time.”

He fell silent, confused. Was it true? Was he really only ‘in love’ because he was feeling depressed? He didn’t know how to feel. His heart was in turmoil right now.

You continued, “Tonight… I’ll make you dinner so you’ll eat properly, clean the house, and make sure you fall asleep. I’ll be gone in the morning. And I’ll be leaving this unrequited love of mine behind. So please, don’t try to find me again. I love you, but I know I have to let go.”

And you stayed true to your word. After taking care of him for the night, you left him with three words:

“Please, be happy.”

Jumin

He couldn’t avoid you forever.

He had been fully aware of that even as he had rejected you a few weeks back. You were part of the same charity organization, and he knew he had to face you at some point. Despite that, he did his best to ignore you, all the same.

You had been hoping to apologize for your previously bold behaviour, but he would make Jaehee turn you away at his office, and he would have his bodyguards surround him when you tried to talk to him after work. Jumin Han was being difficult. And you understood why, but it honestly annoyed you to no end that he took to such measures, simply to avoid you.

So you waited to meet him at the next RFA party planning meeting. As you’d hoped, he came to the meeting with no bodyguards.

“Business is business,” he coldly reminded you before you could even get up from your seat to talk to him. “Leave personal business out of this.”

He was stubborn. And although you were a persistent person yourself, you knew better than to bring personal affairs into work.

After the meeting, you met with Jaehee for lunch, who apologized profusely for having to deny you from meeting Jumin countless times. Of course, you forgave her, knowing she had only been following orders from her boss.

“What should I do?” you asked, sighing. “I’ve tried everything, but he won’t even let me talk to him. All I want to do is apologize, at the very least. I don’t need him to feel the same. I know that’s a lot to ask for, in the first place…”

Jaehee hummed thoughtfully as she listened to your predicament. “Well, Mr. Han tends to be stubborn about things like this. I’m sure you know, but he’s never been on good terms with anyone of the female gender. Everyone had always been after his family name and riches… He grew up surrounded by women who sought to appeal to him, either to be his lover or to gain his father’s favour. It’s only reasonable that he has become unable to trust the women around him.”

You nodded, listening carefully.

She continued, “It’s not the first time he’s been in this kind of situation with you. Mr. Han is a much desired bachelor, and he’s had to meet many women for business, and it happens often that they develop feelings for him. Now, he asks me to go with him during those kinds of meetings, which has decreased the amount of women who act boldly… But, as you’re an RFA member, he deemed it unnecessary…”

“I see…” you murmured softly. “I guess I should try to move on…”

Jaehee’s eyes lit up as she said, “Ooh, actually, one of our party guests is a matchmaker. Her name is Uranai. I could ask her to find a match for you! It never hurts to try.”

You smiled wryly. “Well, I’ve got to start somewhere.”

It was 2 months later, as Jumin sat in his office, that he wondered how you were doing. You had stopped trying to approach him sooner than he expected… He couldn’t help but be curious about you.

Well… it wouldn’t be weird for me to look at her social media or anything… We’re colleagues, after all… That’s what he said to convince himself as he searched up your name and scrolled through your photos.

His breath caught in his throat as he saw pictures of you with another man, arms linked together.

She looks… really happy, Jumin thought to himself, noting how your eyes sparkled with delight.

He ignored the small pang of jealousy in his heart as he leaned back in his chair. He ignored the question that wandered into his mind by itself: Would she have smiled like that with me?

He spoke aloud to himself, “Well… I guess I’m glad she doesn’t come to bother me anymore. It’s… good that she found someone.”

Just colleagues. Nothing more. Not even friends.

Now, it was his eyes who followed your figure as you walked out of the RFA meetings. It was him who would try to make conversation with you when you came to the office to visit Jaehee. It was him who found himself wondering how it would’ve been like to be with you, if he had listened to you, if he had given you a chance. If he hadn’t ignored you when you tried to apologize.

But those were only ifs. It was already too late.

And it was from this, that Jumin would teach his son, born from an arranged marriage many, many years later: “Don’t ever be afraid to take risks. You’ll never know the outcome if you don’t take an opportunity. Please don’t be a close-minded idiot like your father, okay?”

And, by some weird twist of fate, his son and your daughter would meet and fall in love one day, bringing the two families together, and finally giving Jumin the chance to own up to his mistakes.

Seven

You hadn’t responded to any of his calls in days. Seven was starting to get worried about you.

He picked up his phone, texting you.

707: Did something happen?
Read.
707: I know you’re reading my messages. Say something, anything.
Read.
707: You could’ve at least been funny and literally just said ‘something’…
Read.
707: Stop ignoring me.
MC: You have no right to tell me what to do.
707: I don’t understand what you want, MC.
Read.

He sighed in frustration. Why couldn’t you just tell him the truth? You always told him what was on your mind before. …Before that day at the zoo.

His eyes widened at the realization. Now he remembered. You’d been acting really weird that day, almost as if you had fallen in love with him or something… which was exactly what he told you not to do in the ride home afterwards. He quickly messaged you again.

707: MC, I’m coming over.
MC: Wait, what?!

Without further explanation, Seven headed over to your house, in the same car he had unknowingly broken your heart in. He didn’t even knock on your door, simply picked the lock with ease and entered the dark apartment. He felt his heart squeeze in pain as he took in the messy place, realizing that you haven’t been taking care of yourself.

“MC?” he called out, scanning the room for any sign of your presence.

He heard a creak in the bedroom, and he walked slowly in that direction. He knocked politely at your door. “MC, it’s me… Open the do-“

You flung open the door, a wide grin on your face. “I was just kidding~ I’m perfectly fine. You fell for my prank, silly!” You laughed. “Didn’t know you’d worry this much if I didn’t talk to you for a couple days.”

He didn’t believe you for a second. He grabbed you by the arm, and pulled you into his arms. You froze, unsure what to make of this.

“I’m sorry I didn’t notice sooner,” he murmured.

“S-Seven? I already told you it was only a joke…”

His grip on you tightened. “I know it’s not. Have you seen yourself in the mirror? Your eyes are swollen, red and puffed up… Your nose is pink from blowing your nose… I know you’ve been crying, MC. Not to mention, your place is a mess. And I know you—you wouldn’t let it get this messy if you honestly felt okay. Please don’t lie to me. We’re friends, aren’t we?”

The word itself stung. Friends.

“If you know how I feel… Then you know that I don’t think of you as just a friend,” you whispered, eyes downcast. You’d given up on acting like you were fine. “You already said that it’s impossible for you to fall in love, didn’t you?”

He stayed silent, not answering your question.

You took his silence as an urge to continue. “So please… don’t… d-don’t hug me like this. I’ll think the wrong way. I’ll get hopeful. Even though you already… rejected me… before I could even confess…” You clung at his shirt, burying your face into his chest to hide your tears. It felt so perfect, being in his arms. But you couldn’t have him.

“I’m sorry,” he simply said again.

He watched how broken you were over his rejection, and he felt his own chest tightening in pain again. No matter how much he hated seeing you cry, he just couldn’t bring himself to lie that he loved you. Seven could only see you as a friend.

He sighed. “There’s… a lot that you don’t know about me. The person you’re in love with—no, the person you think you’re in love with… That’s not really me. I’m not the cheery, fun guy that I pretend to be. I’m so much worse than you think I am. I’ll only hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you.”

Didn’t he know that he was hurting you already?

“You’re hurting me now. Coming to my house like this, holding me like this, whispering into my ears like this… It only makes me want you more, and it hurts knowing that you’ll never return my feelings,” you spoke out your thoughts.

“It’s not just you, MC. No matter who it is, I’d have to reject them. Even if I want to love you, even if I genuinely care about you—which I do, I can’t have a relationship with you, MC. You know I’m a hacker, right? Spies will go after you if they know you’re with me. No matter what, I won’t let that happen. I won’t let them hurt you.”

“Just because it’s dangerous, it doesn’t mean you can’t have feelings for me…”

“You’re not wrong. Still, even if it wasn’t a life-threatening situation, I wouldn’t let myself be with you. I… I have problems, MC. And I refuse to drag you into my problems. Please move on from me.”

You struggled out of his embrace, forcefully prying your bodies apart. Fresh, hot tears rolled down your cheek. “You can’t just expect me to move on like that! It’s not that easy!” you exclaimed, infuriated. It was easy for him to ask you to move on. He wasn’t the one in pain. He wasn’t the one facing rejection. He wouldn’t understand how you feel.

“I know. That’s why I came here today,” he said quietly, his gaze softened with a hint of regret.

You caught your breath, blinking in surprise. “I don’t understand,” you murmured slowly.

He looked you in the eyes with determination. His next words almost broke your heart all over again. “This is goodbye, MC. I came to say goodbye. It’s the only way you’ll move on.”

And then he just left.

He left you, standing there in awed despair by yourself. He left you, with the lingering warmth on your arms from your embrace. He left you, without another word. And he never came back.

Just like you never moved on.

slight Voltron spoilers

It is very, very interesting to me that Keith talks about Shiro the way that he does. Not necessarily in a ship type way, but also the ramifications that that has for Keith’s character as a whole.

Because Shiro is indisputably and unarguably Keith’s rock. And if you are someone who suffers from some type of anxiety and depression, your rock is something you depend on utterly to help you keep things together. Your rock is the one you turn to when your world is falling apart; and if they are taken away from you, your world falls apart without them.

It’s funny, because to me, Keith is definitely a character that at the very least has some severe anxiety, especially socially. I know that fandom doesn’t really talk about it much, but it’s true. Some aspects that have lead me to think so are:

  • The way that he generally separates (protects) himself from other people through his body language, especially at first.
  • The way that he tends to try to be near Shiro, who is the only person we see him really allowing himself to rely on.
  • The way that he tries to pick up his social cues from Shiro.
  • The way that he isn’t typically rude (unless falling apart), but also doesn’t typically tend to add to the conversation unless he has something important to say when meeting new people.
  • The way that there are times when he still has a tendency to self isolate, even from the team. (Such as by standing/sitting away from them and sometimes preferring to be alone rather than with the others.)
  • The way that he has a very hard time trusting that other people like or care about him.

The last two are especially important, because I think they are at the heart of Keith’s character. And as someone with severe social anxiety, I recognize them as things I do often.

Here’s the thing: people will say that Keith trying to break away from the team or acting like no one but Shiro cares is selfish. That he cares only about what happens to himself.

Here’s what I feel is the truth: at least a part of Keith genuinely believes that, besides Shiro, the rest of the team won’t care. He doesn’t truly feel that they care about him, because up until Shiro Keith’s life has been a series of people leaving or not caring about him. He never knew his mother. His father is gone. He probably never had a supportive foster family, and canon indicates there was none that actually treated him like he was their family. The Garrison just throws him away like trash because he doesn’t handle Shiro’s disappearance well. Even with Voltron, his relationship with Lance isn’t the best at first.

So Keith definitely has reason to have issues when it comes to trusting that people are going to care enough to want him around. Hell, being in the foster care system alone can give you those types of issues. And as someone with severe social anxiety, I can tell you a fact: people can tell me that they care about me a thousand times over and I will have a hard time believing it. Not because I don’t trust those people, or because I think that they are dishonest. Not because I don’t care about those people, because I genuinely do. But because I don’t trust their ability to care about myself. Because I don’t think I deserve for them to care about me, and because people have left me before.

I think that Keith is the same way. He cares about this team deeply, perhaps even loves them. But he can’t really see how they care about him because

A. Part of him thinks that he doesn’t deserve to be cared about, especially by people that he respects.

B. Believing that they care, and then later finding out that they don’t care, or don’t care about him as much as he would like them to is terrifying to him.

C. It is therefore likely much easier for him to care about someone with no expectations, then expecting them to care and being gutted when/if they don’t.

D. It is probably very hard for him to believe that he can have more people than Shiro care about him; he doubtlessly feels very lucky to have gotten Shiro’s affection, and asking for more may seem like an impossible dream to him.

None of these are particularly the team’s fault, but are Keith’s own insecurities. Insecurities that are going to cause him to react in ways that may seem ‘selfish’ or rude sometimes. Insecurities that are going to cause him to do things like considering leaving the team until Shiro points out they need him for Voltron. Insecurities that are going to mean that he will lash out when thinking that he’s lost the only person who will ever care enough to try to find him if he is lost.

At the end of the day, Keith is just a broken boy who is doing the best that he can.

Think of that a bit before you call him 'selfish’ for his reaction.

anonymous asked:

do you know any good long slowburn fics?

Okay! Sorry this took me 3 years.

I’ll start with my personal favourite that is literally the longest and the slowest of slow burns:

Redemption Road Written by spnredemption600k+ words, Canon!verse -

Takes place right at the end of Season 6 when Cas becomes god and the author works from there making her own ending and story. This is such an incredible read and the author writes the whole thing like it’s a series of supernatural. Each chapter is basically you watching an episode of Supernatural. I’m not exaggerating when I say how so freaking in character everyone is. So damn in character. I’ve never read anything like it. And it’s beautiful. And so long. So very very long but satisfying. It’s a very slow-build for Dean and Cas in this. And while it is destiel, it’s not just about Dean and Cas. It’s about all of them. Sam, Cas, Bobby and Dean. It’s pretty much like watching supernatural with the bonus that Destiel becomes canon. Cannot emphasise how well-written it is. (Also if you’re interested, I have it on my Kindle as one giant mobi file, rather than downloading 42 chapters separately. So if you want the mobi file, just msg me with your e-mail address and i’ll send it to you :D)

Clipped and Unbound Written by garrisonbabe - 50k+ words,  Angels as Slaves,

Castiel is a slave widely regarded as unbreakable and unruly. Dean Winchester is a billionaire ending a five year long search to rescue him. They’ll both learn that peace can be the hardest thing in the world to find.

(I have a huge thing for fics where Dean rescues Cas from horrible situations and this story really gives that and it’s such a wonderful slow-burn as you read through Cas’s recovery and Dean being so patient. I adore this fic.)

Innocent Looks Written by CassondraWinchester  - 100k+ words,

Cas is a beleaguered public defender who gets the Winchesters as his next case and for the first time ever believes his clients are truly innocent. How could they not be? Dean, the older one So earnest and honest, so utterly protective of his younger brother, and Sam, so knowledgeable about the law and how it works, he helps Cas build their case. They win, of course, and Dean insists they all go out and celebrate.

Cas wakes up the next morning, bound and gagged in the backseat of the Impala as Dean looks over his shoulder and grins.“Morning Angel.”

The Sawdust Men Written by linoresearch - 100k+ words, historical AU, set in the 50′s

Castiel Novak is an inmate at a labour camp. Life is brutal and no one ever gets out. Castiel’s only goal is to go unnoticed by the barbaric guards, and the violent inmates. Dean Winchester is a soldier without a purpose since the civil war ended. Dean accepts an assignment at a labour-camp, under the mentorship of Alistair, the Commander. From the start, Dean and Castiel are drawn to each other, and their relationship develops in a way that changes their lives. But Alistair has his own plans for Dean, and Castiel is a complication. When Alistair fails to separate them through threats and violence, he turns to manipulation; feeding Dean’s confusion about his feelings for Castiel, and goading him into a terrible act in order to break him. As Dean and Castiel try to fight back, they uncover secrets that are more far-reaching than they ever imagined. In such a dangerous world, can they ever be together? Can they even survive?

A dystopian, alternate-history (diverging after the Great Depression in 1933) AU, set in America in 1950.

Sleeper, Awake! Written by OverlordoftheBees - 300k+ words, Medieval AU -

When their Father cast them from Heaven, his Angels lost themselves in their grief. In 1424, they haunted the skies of citadels, as winged mercenaries turned animal, seeking bloodshed for a slight they no longer remembered. From Ardus, the central city of the kingdom, groups of soldiers took to the Roads to provide crucial supplies and transport amongst citadels. When Castiel, the last remaining Angel equipped with any sense of humanity, happened upon an attack to a Slayer’s party on the Road, he rescued the only survivor - Dean Winchester - and spared him from certain death. Under starry skies and the shadowy treetops of Ardus’ forest, the pair breached the boundaries of their relative humanity and divinity, discerning first friendship and then more, until, driven by love, Castiel was imprisoned by the Empress Lilith for the crime of animalism.

When the door to the tomb is opened, Dean is returned to him. Only Dean no longer knows him, and the year is 2013.

To Raise A King Written by riseofthefallenone - 100k+ words, Medieval AU

This must be some kind of horrible joke at Castiel’s expense. Is he truly expected to protect a King? One who has been their enemy for as long as he can remember? He is much more suited to being a part of the army, or at the very least someone who helps to train the knights. That would be far more preferred than having to watch over the King. It means Castiel would get to keep fighting – and that’s the only way he knows to give meaning to his life.

A Turn of the Earth Written by mishcollin - 90k+ words, Canon Divergence

Dean’s your typical half-orphaned, monster-killing 22-year-old until a trenchcoated stranger crashes into his back windshield one September night, claiming he’s an angel that knows him from the future and that he’s on the run. Frigging fantastic.

(Or, in which Castiel gets stuck in Dean’s timeline preseries and Dean kind of hates it—until he doesn’t.)

This is a serious must read. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Angel Rescue Written by squirrel_loves_wings - 60k+ Words, Au, Angels are Slaves

“This came down to the fundamentally different ways they saw the situation. Bobby didn’t think angels should be mistreated, but he didn’t see them as equals and didn’t particularly have a problem with angels being kept as slaves. Dean wanted angels to be free and equal to humans, period.”

In which Dean works in angel rescue and Castiel is newly rescued angel with a painful past.

I’m sorry I took forever to reply to this msg anon, but these are some good slow burns that you should definitely read!

Teen Dad | Teen Dad Two

Peter ran back home, breathing heavily.

It was around midnight, Aunt May should be asleep.

Peter unlocked the door, opening it carefully, and shutting it quietly behind his back.

Walking back to his room, he was startled when Aunt May was watching him from the hallway.

“May. Wh– what are you doing up this late?”

“I should be asking you the same thing, Peter.”

“I– I was just going out for a walk. That’s all.”

“And why are you going out this late at night?”

“I– I couldn’t sleep, but I’m tired now, I’ll see you in the morning.”

And with that, Peter walked past Aunt May, walking straight to his room.

Getting up later than usual, since it is winter break after all, Peter slept till 9am, usually he wakes up at 6:30 for school.

He got up and walked to the kitchen to get breakfast.

“Mornin’ May.”

“Good morning, look, I need to get some stuff from the store, I’ll be back in an hour or two.”

She said, she grabbed her keys, walking towards the door.

“It’s going to take you one to two hours to get ‘some’ stuff?”

She scoffed, hand on the door knob, “you know how I am.” She laughs, making Peter laugh as well, knowing how she gets distracted and ends up buying everything but what she needed.

She gave Peter a soft smile, “I miss seeing that smile of yours sweetie.” Peter looked down, nodding.

“I do too.”

“Do you think you’ll be okay being by yourself for a couple of days?”

Your mom yelled over the loud sound of her hair dryer.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine.”

“Call May if anything happens, I talked to her the other day.”

“Okay, I will.”

She put the dryer down and turned around, looking at you sitting quietly on the foot of her bed.

“Sweetie,” she said, holding my chin up.

“Still haven’t talked to Peter huh?”

You shook your head no. She sighed, caressing your cheek.

“Don’t look so down baby girl, something will turn up, okay?”

You nodded.

Peter laid on his bed, staring at his phone.

He’s been thinking of when he should call (Y/n). He doesn’t know what’s going on with her anymore. Is she okay? Is she happy? Sad? Still mad at him? Will she ever forgive him? Is she feeling sick at all? His finger hovered over her name. One little tap and he would be calling you.

He let out a sigh, jumping and dropping his phone on his face when it started ringing.

Tony Stark.

He let it go to voicemail. He didn’t want to talk to anyone but (Y/n) right now and he doesn’t know if he can even do that.

Tony Stark Misscall (1)

Tony Stark Voice Mail (1)

He clicked on the voicemail, Tony never calls and it left him curious.

“Hey, Spidey. What happened last night? Did you tell her? I really hope you do make the right decision. Think hard about what’s more important, and make the right decision all right?”

Peter thought hard about it alright.

He still wasn’t ready to be a father, but he still loves (Y/n). He still doesn’t know what to do but all he knows is that he loves you.

An hour or two after your mom left, you felt a little dizzy.

Holding your head, you closed your eyes before passing out on the couch.

Aunt May came home, Peter was passed out on the couch.

“Peter,” she cooed, “wake up honey.”

Peter opens his eyes slowly and props himself up onto his elbows.

“What– what time is it?”

“It’s time for you to wake up. Stop sleeping so much, you didn’t use to be so sleepy all the time.”

“I just haven’t been getting any sleep lately.”

She sat down next to him, he scrunching his legs up to his chest, putting his head on his knees.

“Talk to her.”

“How!”

“Call her, visit her, talk to her when you see her!”

“I– I just can’t May. It’s not as easy as you think.”

“It is as easy as I think Peter. You both are so depressed about being apart. You know how to make that depression go away? BE TOGETHER.”

“But the baby! That’s the only thing I’m afraid of May. I don’t know how to be a father. I’m still a kid.”

She sighs, fully turning to him this time.

“Pete, do you think I was ready to take care of you when your parents passed away?”

She looked straight into his teary brown eyes.

“I was as terrified as you were. But you were my responsibility. You and (Y/n) did what you did and you have to deal with the consequences. I didn’t raise you to be irresponsible.”

Peter had tears streaming down his face, he was silent. May wiped the tears away from his cheeks, and kissed his salty cheeks.

“You’ll be fine Pete, trust me on this. Okay?” Peter nodded.

“Good. I have to go leave again, I have a dinner to go to with some friends. Be good, okay? I brought home some take out if you’re hungry.”

He nodded, still quiet.

She kissed his forehead, “love you.”

“Love you too.”

You woke up a couple hours later, rubbing your head. What happened? You wondered. All you can remember is your mom kissing you goodbye and binge watching Pretty Little Liars afterwards. When you looked down, your eyes open quickly.

You saw some blood, knowing what that meant, you called Aunt May right away.

Peter turns around as he heard a phone ringing. It wasn’t his usual ring tone, so he looked behind him with a confused look. Seeing May’s phone on the table, he sighs.

She left her phone again.

Grabbing the phone, he checked who was calling. Seeing your name popped up on the screen, his eyes goes wide, but he decides to answer anyways. This was his chance to make things right with you again.

“He–”

“Aunt May!” He heard, her voice was shaky and cracking. You can hear her sobbing, panick was also heard in her voice.

“(Y/n–”

“I need to go to the hospital. My– my mom is out right now and– and no one can go with me so if you can– can you meet me there? I– I’m so scared. I’ll text you the address. I wish Peter was here.” You whispered the last part to yourself before you ended the call, but Peter still heard. Guilt formed around his heart. He couldn’t stand hearing you so hurt. He doesn’t know what’s going on but he snapped out of his thoughts once he heard a ding. Looking back at the phone, seeing that you sent the address to the hospital you’re going to, Peter ran out the door in a heartbeat.

You sat in a hospital bed.

Heart pounding in your chest.

Constantly rubbing your hands together.

Your whole body was trembling.

Thoughts running through your mind.

Constantly looking at the door.

Waiting for Aunt May to walk in.

Waiting for the doctor to tell you what you needed to hear.

The longer you wait, the more you tried to convinced yourself that whatever happened, whatever was happening.

Happened for a reason.

Maybe losing the baby, maybe it’s suppose to happen. Maybe it wasn’t a good thing. Maybe it was a reality check. Maybe the baby showed you something you didn’t notice in the relationship you had with Peter. That he didn’t love you as much as you thought. Because, without the baby happening, you wouldn’t realize that him being Spider-Man was more important than him being yours.

on the may 15th fansign, mental health, darkness, and hope

on May 15, 2015, during 화양연화 Pt. 1 I went to BTS’ fansign at Sinchon and had a conversation with Namjoon that I, at the time, chose not to reveal for personal reasons. at that time, because of that decision, there were a lot of people who criticized me—people accused me of saying something mean to him, accused me of hiding some secret relationship between us, called me a slut, etc. I didn’t say anything about it at the time because it seemed pointless, but now that 화양연화 has come to an end for real, and following the release of YOU NEVER WALK ALONE—plus, the upcoming 2 year anniversary of this extremely fateful conversation (lol)—I have decided to write about it, if only to explain a little of why I feel such a connection to the concept and so people will understand why I kept it private for so long.

I just want to go ahead and give people some warning: it’s not only a post about BTS. it’s a post about my life, and it contains a lot of sensitive material, like self-harm, suicidal ideation, and drug use. please bear that in mind if you decide to read it, I don’t want anyone to be upset by that content.

You were still in shock about Peter, Friday morning. You didn’t know if you should tell him that you knew or just keep it to yourself, but you also then remembered that you did in fact tell Spider-Man, well Peter, that you liked him, that you had a crush on him. You told him how you felt. You didn’t know how you will face Peter at school today. You even decided to get up earlier and head to school before he did with your mom just to avoid the possibility of seeing him. However, you knew you couldn’t avoid him in Chemistry. Also, Homecoming was today to make things even more stressful. You had to get home immediately and start getting ready. You were starting to get nauseous at everything you had to face today. It was going to be a long day.
