do you believe in fairies

TAURUS: lately life has felt like a carnival ride that you stumbled onto by accident and you don’t understand why everybody else is having such a good time. why everybody else has open-mouth smiles and bright eyes while you’re clutching your lap-bar praying for something to end. it won’t always be like this. the ground isn’t going to perpetually swing around you, stealing your balance and your ability to move as if your existence is something flimsy and disposable. this will all slow down eventually. please stay until then. the view from the top will be worth it.

GEMINI: you’ve taken every offhand remark to heart since the day you were born and your chest has become so heavy that it’s hard to breathe around all of that hurt. you know you don’t have to keep it all hidden, right? storage units exist for a reason: humans were never meant to bear all of their belongings. I know that your statuesque stance is one you’ve been practicing for centuries, but it’s okay to ask for help. nobody is going to be mad at you or think of you as weak for doing so.

CANCER: you’re holding something beautiful and this is the most terrifying thing you’ve ever done. because you’re so used to watching watching eggs roll off the countertop and kisses slip off of your cheek that everything worthwhile seems fleeting. fragile. forced. like the universe is playing a game to see how good you are at playing catch with crystal balls. but you’ve gotta believe in the potential of durability. if you’ve managed to exist for this long without giving up, you must believe in something, and it must be pretty special. don’t lose it now. not after all this time.

LEO: maybe it feels like the april showers will never stop pouring down on you. maybe you keep trying to fix new things with old instruction manuals and end up getting frustrated when the pictures don’t match what’s in front of you. maybe you’re starting to realize that not everything is going to work out the way you need it to and that scares you. it scares you because the last time this happened it almost killed you. but the key word here is almost. you’re more than the rubble you’ve had to sift through and the photographs you’ve had to throw out. you were never meant to burn out. you were designed to endure.

VIRGO: so, you ran away from home. you’re playing hooky from your life because every scenario you’ve found yourself in has ended in blood. and you’re sick of it. you never asked for any of this. but then again, has anyone? I can’t imagine how tiring it must be to build those walls around yourself every morning, before your coffee and your nicotine, before you think about the lover you left behind. have you ever visited the grand canyon? you should. it’s time you found some beauty in what’s below the surface. look at how easy it is to see the sky from here. but please don’t try to fly until you’ve looked down once or twice please.

LIBRA: you ran into the past while crossing the street and you didn’t stop to say hello. were you scared? or were you just waiting for what you abandoned to make the first move? either way, you didn’t say hello and that’s okay. you don’t have to feel shameful about the ugliness of your progress. not everybody’s carriage stays a carriage when the clock strikes midnight. that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. that doesn’t mean it wasn’t real or valuable. you ran into the past while crossing the street and it didn’t hurt you. not this time. not you.

SCORPIO: everybody around you seems to be darting across the universe with their hearts on their sleeves and it makes you feel as though something is wrong with you. as if the molasses town your feet are submerged in is something that you asked for, that you wanted. you know, you don’t have to travel at the speed of light in order to get out of bed in the morning and that’s still something miraculous, especially when every part of you is begging to pull the covers over your eyes and dream a little longer. I’m proud of you for fighting that feeling. I know it’s hard. I know it’s hard.

SAGITTARIUS: I think that it’s time for you to start believing in fairy tales again. do you remember being smaller? looking for magic around every corner? that spark doesn’t leave once you outgrow the disney themed bedsheets and wear holes in the light-up sneakers. nobody needs you to be the grown-up all of the time, it’s okay to let yourself feel lighthearted again. go pick some daisies or buy some gelato. take care of yourself the way you would’ve before the world showed you its shadows.

CAPRICORN: the monsters under your bed have been keeping you awake for months but you don’t have the heart to drive them away. you’ve kinda liked the company. you’ve been throwing them scraps from the dinner table that you couldn’t finish and have taken pleasure in listening to what you couldn’t stomach be put to use. but, baby, you don’t have to be kind to the things that make you shudder in the night. you’re not obligated to give to the things that take and take and take until there’s nothing left. reclaim your bedroom. this, this is yours. it always will be.

AQUARIUS: sometimes you find yourself thinking about the cost of living. how much of yourself you’ve had to trade in order to stay alive. it’s really easy to get angry, when you see that other people have traded so much less and gotten so much more. but don’t let yourself get caught up in the what-if’s because that’s a maze that’ll never let you leave, no matter the strength of the compass you bring with you. forgive yourself for what you’ve had to do to survive. it doesn’t make sense to be ashamed of all you’ve gone through, when everyone else just wants to watch you succeed. we’re rooting for you.

PISCES: you’ve become an expert at mending the bridges that people have burned in your wake and I hope that you see the beauty in that. the talent it takes to reconstruct a pathway between two islands is immense and you’ve forgotten this in all of the excitement. you’ve accomplished great things in such a short time, and it’s breathtaking. truly. when you were born everybody in the room must’ve held their breath, because how could they not see what they were bringing into the world? sure, you’ve caused a few accidents. but you’re working to fix the damage. you’re trying. that’s enough.

ARIES: the clocks have all been telling you that you’re late for figuring yourself out. which is another way of saying that it feels as though time itself has been harassing you because you don’t know who you are yet. and hey, fuck ‘em. time is a construct: while you? you’re here. you’re breathing. you’re taking the alarms and setting them for 12pm because this is your life and you dictate what it’ll be filled with. don’t worry about the calendars or the deadlines. you’ll find yourself when you’re ready. take as many seconds as you need.

“I want you to tell me about every person you’ve ever been in love with.
Tell me why you loved them,
then tell me why they loved you.

Tell me about a day in your life you didn’t think you’d live through.
Tell me what the word home means to you
and tell me in a way that I’ll know your mother’s name
just by the way you describe your bedroom
when you were eight.

See, I want to know the first time you felt the weight of hate,
and if that day still trembles beneath your bones.

Do you prefer to play in puddles of rain
or bounce in the bellies of snow?
And if you were to build a snowman,
would you rip two branches from a tree to build your snowman arms
or would leave your snowman armless
for the sake of being harmless to the tree?
And if you would,
would you notice how that tree weeps for you
because your snowman has no arms to hug you
every time you kiss him on the cheek?

Do you kiss your friends on the cheek?
Do you sleep beside them when they’re sad
even if it makes your lover mad?
Do you think that anger is a sincere emotion
or just the timid motion of a fragile heart trying to beat away its pain?

See, I wanna know what you think of your first name,
and if you often lie awake at night and imagine your mother’s joy
when she spoke it for the very first time.

I want you to tell me all the ways you’ve been unkind.
Tell me all the ways you’ve been cruel.
Tell me, knowing I often picture Gandhi at ten years old
beating up little boys at school.

If you were walking by a chemical plant
where smokestacks were filling the sky with dark black clouds
would you holler “Poison! Poison! Poison!” really loud
or would you whisper
“That cloud looks like a fish,
and that cloud looks like a fairy!”

Do you believe that Mary was really a virgin?
Do you believe that Moses really parted the sea?
And if you don’t believe in miracles, tell me —
how would you explain the miracle of my life to me?

See, I wanna know if you believe in any god
or if you believe in many gods
or better yet
what gods believe in you.
And for all the times that you’ve knelt before the temple of yourself,
have the prayers you asked come true?
And if they didn’t, did you feel denied?
And if you felt denied,
denied by who?

I wanna know what you see when you look in the mirror
on a day you’re feeling good.
I wanna know what you see when you look in the mirror
on a day you’re feeling bad.
I wanna know the first person who taught you your beauty
could ever be reflected on a lousy piece of glass.

If you ever reach enlightenment
will you remember how to laugh?

Have you ever been a song?
Would you think less of me
if I told you I’ve lived my entire life a little off-key?
And I’m not nearly as smart as my poetry
I just plagiarize the thoughts of the people around me
who have learned the wisdom of silence.

Do you believe that concrete perpetuates violence?
And if you do —
I want you to tell me of a meadow
where my skateboard will soar.

See, I wanna know more than what you do for a living.
I wanna know how much of your life you spend just giving,
and if you love yourself enough to also receive sometimes.
I wanna know if you bleed sometimes
from other people’s wounds,
and if you dream sometimes
that this life is just a balloon —
that if you wanted to, you could pop,
but you never would
‘cause you’d never want it to stop.

If a tree fell in the forest
and you were the only one there to hear —
if its fall to the ground didn’t make a sound,
would you panic in fear that you didn’t exist,
or would you bask in the bliss of your nothingness?

And lastly, let me ask you this:

If you and I went for a walk
and the entire walk, we didn’t talk —
do you think eventually, we’d… kiss?

No, wait.
That’s asking too much —
after all,
this is only our first date.”

Simon dug the toe of his shoe into the dirt. He wasn’t sure why he felt so nervous. His mom had just bought him brand new light up sketchers. He felt bad for scuffing them up, but his feet wouldn’t hold still. “Calm down,” he whispered to them. They didn’t listen.

The new boy said he liked dandelions. Said they looked like sunshine. Miss Catherine told him they were weeds, and that boys didn’t give flowers to other boys.

“But what if I really like him? And what if they look like sunshine?”

“Maybe go pick some daisies instead,” she suggested, ignoring both questions. Simon didn’t care what she thought. The new boy was dark and serious and had pretty hair. He seemed so sad sometimes. Simon figured he could use a little sunshine in his life.

“Hey, Baz!” Simon called out when he spotted him across the playground. Baz looked at him, his dark hair, almost shoulder length, swinging around with his head. “Come here!”

Baz nodded and smiled. He was missing his front tooth. Simon was, too. Maybe they could talk about it. Did Baz still believe in the tooth fairy, Simon wondered?

“What do you want?” Baz asked, a little out of breath from running across the playground.

Simon held out the dandelions. “For you.”

“For me?”

“You said they looked like sunshine.” Simon giggled. Baz took the flowers from Simon and gave him a big grin.

“Your hair looks like sunshine!” Baz exclaimed, tucking the flowers in the chest pocket of his shirt. “Want to play firefighters with me?”

“Obviously,” Simon answered. Baz grabbed his hand and tugged him along. Simon grabbed back.

Stiles The Pirate

@eternalsterek-broughttolife | AO3 - A back-up gift specifically requested by me, and seeing how everyone was able to get their gifts in, I’m going to gift it to myself haha (especially since this is the sweetest little fic).

by @poetry-protest-pornography

Stiles works at a water park, one day he finds a little girl with dark hair and intense eyes crying and has to help her find her family.

The familiar chlorine-sunscreen-warm pavement smell of Riverwood Water Park is a strange comfort as Stiles walks toward the staff locker room; nostalgia and fond memories always rushed through Stiles when he was at the park. The fact that this would–hopefully–be his last summer working there was both sad and exciting.

It wouldn’t be easy saying goodbye to the place he’d visited so often with his mom and dad as a kid, the place where he had worked every summer since he was sixteen. Manning Pirate Cove, a scale model of a pirate ship designed for younger children, with slides where canons would be found and a swirling sprayer that moved with the ship’s wheel, had become his favorite summertime distraction. The enthusiasm and joy that little kids unabashedly threw into splashing each other and climbing and fun made Stiles feel joyous by proxy.

Closing his locker in the staff showers, he allowed himself to feel a little melancholy. Graduating and moving on to grad school that was no closer to his dad or his friends was hard. He’d always half planned on coming back to California, but he’d had to wave adios to that plan when a full scholarship offer came in for a program in Colorado.

It was going to be hard to have say goodbye to his coworkers, too. Some of them had been working with him since he started, and they’d grown up together, one summer at a time. They’d shared cookouts and after work meals, then after work drinks and dancing as they became old enough for it. End of season parties, bonfire hookups, summer flings.

The thought of leaving Erica and Boyd especially filled him with disappointment; they’d been spending their summers together for the last five seasons, and they’d had more than a handful of those s’mores and summer heat-flavored nights. Now, they were the best of friends, speaking often even when Stiles was on the other side of the country and longing for summer and open-skied nights in his adequate but lonely student apartment.

That he would not miss. Even with the personal touches he’d managed to add, a half-sized kitchen, a shower with the water pressure of a jammed squirt gun, and barely enough room for a two-seater couch and a desk with a rolling chair never felt much like home.

Summers at Riverwood, though, that was definitely part of home for him. Permanent chlorine scent, shrieking kids, and all.

What wasn’t normal though, was a crying child. Yet, just inside the gate where he entered Pirate Cove, there was a young girl–around five if Stiles had to guess–rubbing the back of her hand over her eyes, fruitlessly trying to stop the tears spilling from her green and gold eyes. Her long dark hair was escaping from the tight braid she wore, and she clutched at her brightly striped towel like a lifeline.

Stiles pasted on his friendliest, most reassuring smile and stooped down so he was at her eye level. “Hi, sweetheart, my name is Stiles. Is there something that I can help you with? I work here, so if you’re lost, or if something happened that upset you, I can help.”

When she looked up at him, her lip was wobbling and she was taking big, shuddering breaths, but she was obviously trying to get herself to calm down; Stiles was impressed with her control.

“I was pl-playing in the wave pool, an’ then I thought I saw a bunny by the fe-fence, so I went t’ see it, but it was go-one!” she sobbed, getting more upset as she went on. “Then I got lost, and now I can’t find my-my-m-” she started crying again, too much now to finish her sentence, so Stiles put a cautious hand on her shoulder.

“Hey, that is something I can definitely fix,” he said, letting a little enthusiasm into his voice in the hopes that his confidence would reassure her. “Can you tell me your name?”

She sniffed, but gave him a wobbly smile and answered “Tali.”

“Well, Tali,” he said, returning her smile, “Do you think you could hold my hand so we can stick together on the way back to the wave pool?” At her nod, he stood up, and offered his hand. Hers felt so small in his that he had a moment of panic at being responsible for someone so little. Then reality settled over him and his years of experience with kids kicked in as he rolled his eyes at himself.

the signs a short extracts i wrote

Aries: She swallowed water, salty sea water, almost drowning from the waves. A spear in her right hand she stabbed after the big fish that was circling her right underneath the surface of the water. She tasted blood on her lips and tried to breathe. She did not feel anxious, no, rather the mere will to survive. Rage, panic, adrenaline, she felt like she was one with the most ancient and oldest feeling of life.

Taurus: Laying on his cloud, he heard the other angels debating on what to do for the day. “Shall we help the poor or watch out for the dying?”, he repeated their words mockingly, biting in his apple with relish. He hummed a lullaby and closed his tired eyes before he drifted off to sleep. “Their heads are full of worries.” They all hated his careless attitude and doubted the effectiveness of his help. In the end, they always forgot that he indeed was the angel of joy.

Gemini: “Tell me a story!”, the boy said to his sister and hand in hand they jumped through the forest, searching for the purest fruit of wisdom. “I could tell so many, but you probably know them all already!”, she responded and her eyes lightened up as she spotted a piece of the blue sky through the crowns of the dark trees. “Yeah, that must be true”, he answered. They smiled happily, being together was all they had. Little did they know, that they walked in circles for days.

Cancer: The prince watched out of his window, directly onto the water of the seemingly black sea. The moon reflected on its surface and the night silently spoke to him, like an old friend, told him that his sorrows will be gone soon. Sighing he closed his eyes and recreated the dream he had last night. On the lowest point of the sea, hitting the cold, muddy ground he searched for something? But what could it be? His thoughts where interrupted by the crashing waves and he smiled as he looked into the face of a young mermaid. “Loreley?”

Leo: She watched the something on the throne. It was not her. It was an old, wrinkled beast, already having its best years behind it, being touched by the life taking hand of the universe. It looked dead to her. She touched its leather like skin and shook her head in disapproval. The crown on its head was shining in the most beautiful colors and overwhelmed by its appearance she lifted it up and placed on the top of her head. Then suddenly, the beasts eyes moved and she knew that was it.

Virgo: She was porcelain. Her hands where slim and her fingers long, her neck looked as fragile as the one of a swan and her long, silver gown, made out of spider webs,  enveloped her thin body. She was cold. Everything she touched turned to ice and as the queen of the country, the most disloyal of her followers adorned her cupboards as little ice figures now. She showed no gesture on her face. She was all alone.

Libra: “Sir, you need to decide”, the woman told him coldly and looked him dead in the eye. He was sweating already and close to the edge. He needed to escape but his limbs were tied to the chair. “Let me out!!”, he shouted and tried to move, tears gathered in the corners of his eyes. “Sir, you need to decide.”
“No, no, let me out!!!”
“Sir, there is only once chance.”

Scorpio: As the cat spoke to her she thought she completely lost her mind. It was the late afternoon as the neighbors cat - that mysteriously always stood in front of her window - told her to “not go to the old cottage near the forest”. She knew she was going insane. And she knew usually people said there was no one living inside of that little abandoned house. But there were flowers planted around the cottage and smoke came out of the chimney. Maybe she was insane. Maybe she just wanted to see the truth.

Sagittarius: He never breathed such clean air. He never tasted this freshness, this pureness on his lips. The cold air surrounded him, tried to get through his clothes and down to his body, but his heart was warm. Warm and pounding to the sound of the wind and mountains, humming a quiet song to the movement of the earth, to the building and children of mother nature. He wanted to kiss the cold, untouched earth and he imagined the landscape in front of him during spring. “Finally, I am home.”

Capricorn: As he walked down the street, busy as always, the crowd of people seemed to squash him, as they all wanted to get home as quick as possible since work was over. It started to rain. Cold, dirty rain that was pouring down on a cold, grey and dirty city. He opened his umbrella and continued his way to the bus stop as suddenly a tall man in black clothes, with a black box in his left hand and a pocket watch in his right stood a few foot steps away right in front of him. Fear grabbed the working man. He started to run.

Aquarius: “Sir do you need something to eat? It’s almost 9 pm and you hadn’t have any dinner so far”, the assistance asked worried. He smiled, knowing she always worried about him but he was busy watching the little creatures on the red globe in front of him. They moved and talked, creating new things and build friendships, started fights, wars and made peace. All that in just matter of seconds. As the woman looked over his shoulder she instantly grinned. “You love to look at the past of your creations, don’t you?” He laughed shortly and lifted up his gaze, looking out of the window, right to the stars. “Well, I made them after all.”

Pisces: She held him close as the night arrived and everything was covered in complete darkness. “Don’t let me go”, he whispered, his voice shaking but she just smiled gently and kissed his cheek. “Look.” Her hands glowed as she formed little animal sculptures out of bright bubbles that ran around their heads before disappearing in the night sky. His eyes widened in amazement as he looked at the art she just did. “How do you…”, he started but stopped as he looked into her stark-like eyes. She asked him: “Do you believe in the fairy tales you read?”

Nalu week- day 3 University AU

I was out of inspiration so I did my own prompt, I wanted to do something like this for so long! It’s base on a personal experiecne-
Basically Lucy wants to study in the University garden but Natsu keeps playing and she gets distracted but when she tries to yell at him, she see that he’s a cutie, so she can only hide and stare at him, but he saw her too :))))))

sheogorath-the-manic  asked:

Excellent! I will try not to disappoint my friend, but you have been warned hahahaha. Now onto the true matters! *opens a book labelled theories and madness and skips to an unspecified page* For my first official question, as we all know monsters exist within the Undertale universe some we have seen before (like undead) others we have not. My question first of all is this, do you believe that every type of monster exists from fairies to dragons within the universe and if so why don't we see em?

(undertale spoilers)

It’s impossible to say “every type of monster exists” in the game. Monsters of all shapes and sizes exist in many cultures and stories. However, considering Frisk does not get to explore the whole underground, Frisk has not encountered every possible monster. Consider how Frisk never reached New Home, which is described as a crowded capital.

Coincidentally, one of the monsters you mentioned is confirmed to live in New Home – a dragon.

There is another dragon in the game that appears much sooner – RG02.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to what type of monsters exist in the underground since Frisk is unable to meet them all.

Intros and conclusions are often the hardest part of essay writing! Worry not, because here I will give you some tips to start your best essay yet!

* it can be just a general idea as many people prefer to write the intro until the essay is done *

-          Start with a quote:

“The best novels should be sensational and realistic, both in the highest of levels” said Anthony Trollope. When we talk about Dickens’ novels……

-          Start with a question:

How many words does it take to know you’re talking to an adult? In “Peter Pan,” J. M. Barrie needed just five: “Do you believe in fairies?” Such belief requires magical thinking. Children suspend disbelief. They trust that events happen with no physical….. (Magic May Lurk Inside Us All by C. Nathan)

-          Start with a fact:

Our education system is in a state of crisis. Among developed countries, the United States is 55th in quality rankings of elementary math and science education, 20th in high school completion rate and 27th in the fraction of college students receiving undergraduate degrees in science or engineering. As a society, we….. (Death Knell for the Lecture: Technology as a Passport to Personalized Education by D. Coller)

-          Start with some historical background of your topic:

Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries Americans developed a unique system of government with revolutionary ideals – never seen anywhere else before. Americans adopted representative governments with democratic principles that allowed…. (American Identity and Unity from A.P. Study Notes)

Develop theme 1. Finish that idea and connect it with the next one and so on. Now is when all the previous research pays off  :D Pour all your knowledge here!!

E.g.: “….but we could not give all the credit to Fielding’s plot development if we do not discuss his ability to construct realistic characters. As Gerould expresses it:  ‘Tom Jones is great because it pictures real men and women, and because its craftmanship [sic] is marvelous’”…..

Here I connected plot development [theme 1] with character development [theme 2], I inserted a quote to validate my opinion and I started to write about Fielding’s characters.

Ask yourself What is the point of all this? Why did I just wrote all the above? Basically, writing the conclusion is your ‘get to the point’ moment.

Here you should make a summary of everything you have written, mention every point you addressed in your essay with a final thought upon it. E.g.

In conclusion with (THEME 1) we can understand that ……. And with (THEME 2) the relevance of (YOUR TOPIC) is seen with a different perspective. However (THEME 3) shows that (YOUR TOPIC) is still a field that needs more analysis/investigation/understanding) but with the coming years we might hopefully find and answer to this.

Super generic yet, somehow effective. In conclusion: SUMARIZE EVERYTHING and say goodbye. (see, that is the conclusion of the conclusion section on this post. Not so hard, right?)

Hope this helps!

Erwin tapped his pen against his desk, yawning as he did so. Paperwork never came at the right time around here. When it did he was flooded. When it didn’t…

“Look busy,” Levi said as he mopped the office floor. “You could help out here. If you don’t get in my way.”

“I’ll try,” Erwin said, standing and stretching.

“And don’t yawn so much. You’re exhausting me.”

Erwin hid his smile and began tidying his desk.

“Say Levi,” he said. “I want to know something.”

“Then ask something.”

“Let’s see…Do you believe in magic?”

“Magic? Like ghosts and fairies?”

“Yes. Just like that.”

Levi shrugged and continued mopping. “Something as ridiculous as man-eating monsters exists. Why not ghosts and fairies?”

Erwin nodded.

“I saw my mom once,” Levi said softly, so softly that Erwin almost didn’t hear him. He had stopped mopping, and Erwin had stopped tidying.

“Really,” Erwin said, not wanting to scare Levi off.

“Yeah. That time I…got knocked off my horse by that abnormal. She was above me while I was stunned, trying to get me to stand.”

“It’s stupid.”

“No,” Erwin said. “You saw her, Levi.”

Levi stared out the window. Then, barely a whisper, he said, “I saw her.”

“I wish I could be so lucky,” Erwin said with a smile.

Levi shook his head. “That damn thing gave me a concussion. It was probably a hallucination.”

“You know, Levi. Sometimes something’s real whether you believe or not. Your mother got you to stand up, didn’t she? And now you’re here.”

“Here,” Levi said. The tiniest of smiles appeared on his face.

“Yes,” Erwin said. “Here.” He gazed upon Levi, cherishing their quiet moment together. No gruffness, no shit jokes. Just the two of them together. Here.

“Okay, let’s get cleaning, old man.”

“Yes, Levi,” Erwin chuckled and got back to work.
