do i tag this like their reincarnation characters or their past characters

The Romance Arc (Destiel)

So, I know we always say it, but the other day I was finally fed up enough - or weird enough - to decide I’d make a list. And, guys, this is going to be a long-ass post, so if you haven’t got time, here is the tl;dr version: if we look at the love tropes most commonly used to build an onscreen relationship, Dean and Cas score an eye-watering 61/91 - that’s a 67% total.

Now, to put that in perspective - in order to build a romance arc, you’ve got five obligatory stages (meeting each other, falling in love, becoming a couple, a period of conflict, a resolution) and each of these stages will include at least one common trope, more or less hidden according to the kind of media and the author’s intent and sophistication. tvtropes lists a total of 91 tropes, but no love story will ever use them all. That would be ridiculous - either a parody or complete insanity. Think of a story where our lovers were destined to be together and also promised to each other as children and also the reincarnation of past lovers; where they meet by spilling coffee on each other and then she goes on to lose her handkerchief and he picks it up and runs after her to give it back but - whoa - now she’s been attacked by pirates and the hero wants to save her but his king is ordering him not to and oh no, what will he do? That sounds like overkill, right? And it totally is: a story with too many tropes is a ridiculous, unrealistic, unwatchable mess. To give you a better idea of what I mean, if look at those 91 tropes tvtropes lists as possible steps to build a romance arc, Dirty Dancing, one of the most romantic movies ever made, only scores 19 points; 10 Things I Hate about You, another big favourite of mine and an absolute ALL the love, ALL the feels story, scores 16 points. And Jane the Virgin, an actual soap-opera parody on the CW complete with sudden rain and snow to highlight special kisses, scores even lower: 13 points.

Meanwhile, normal friendships between men like Sam and Frodo’s in the Lord of the Rings trilogy or Ted and Marshall’s in How I Met Your Mother score a grand total of zero points - so, yes, it’s perfectly possible to write a non-romantic male friendship even when that friendship is a dramatic I’ll walk with you to the very edge of the Earth and then carry you up the slopes of a dangerous volcano and finally die with you sort of thing. Because, funnily enough, you can be friends with somebody and be ready to die for them without actually having a sexual interest in them.

(Johnlock scores 29 points.)

(Wincest, 4.)

Something you could be wondering at this point is, why tropes though? Why are tropes a thing, and why does it matter how many tropes Supernatural chooses to use between Dean and Cas? And, look, I’m sure someone else could say it better, but essentially tropes are the bones of a story. Every single story you see out there, from the Odyssey to Torchwood/Gossip Girl crossovers to coffeshop AUs is built out of the same building blocks. There are, like, seven possible plots and about two dozen kinds of characters and maybe two hundred common tropes - and that’s it. Try tagging any classic novel with AO3 tags and you’ll see what I mean.

[This story is Jules Verne’s fanfiction of an Edgar Allan Poe novel, and, yeah.]

Now, since it’s only possible to build a story in a limited number of ways, the problem all authors face is to find an original way to make it work. Some will use tropes religiously, either because they can’t think of anything different or because they hope a tried-and-tested formula will appeal to readers (see every romance novel under the sun; also most thrillers). Others will make fun of tradition by throwing the tropes back in your face (one of my favourite takes of this is Diana Wynne Jones’ Howl’s Moving Castle). And others will manage to bullshit you so thoroughly and completely you won’t notice the tropes are there until it’s too late - those are the stories where you’re truly surprised and shocked by events and you sit up in bed like a fool gasping out loud and you only stop reading because you need to tell someone asap, You won’t believe what just happened. A good example of this is the ending of the first season of Game of Thrones - we were all so convinced Ned Stark was the hero, filming people who hadn’t read the books as they watched him die became something of a hobby; and many became convinced George RR Martin was this all-powerful deity without any rules (not true: he’s a good writer, however, and he managed to convince most of us Ned was the hero when in reality he was the ‘Dumbledore’ figure - and therefore his death makes perfect sense).

And if we’re talking about Destiel - as I explained in the very first meta I wrote for this fandom (though at the time I hadn’t even realized I was part of a fandom, and didn’t know what a meta even was), I didn’t start to ‘ship’ Dean and Cas out of nefarious reasons, or tedium, or a desire to write smutty fanfiction. In fact, I still don’t consider myself a shipper in any way. I am not particularly interested in romance, and I never go out of my way to see who may be suited for whom. And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong in doing that - just that it’s something I don’t do. If I started to see Destiel and to write about it, it’s because to me (and, apparently, to a lot of other people), it was clear that there was something there; that that was how the story was built. And if I started to look at it more closely, it was simply because my expectations as a viewer were disappointed, and the relationship of trust between author and reader was - for me - crumbling into nothingness.

And, look, I won’t lie: I was angry and upset by the implications - that there was something wrong with me - that I was trying to force a sexual relationship on two friends just because. That, as a woman, I couldn’t enjoy a story without making it all about the romance. No, I am a huge book nerd, and I like writing stories, and I mostly analyse stuff for a living and I also sort of have eyes? - so, to me, it was clear I was being lied to, and at that moment, I was left in an uncomfortably ambiguous position which will sound familiar to many of you - I was furious at the show, but at the same time I was still in love with the characters (so very much in love). This was a frustrating feeling which presented me with two equally unappealing options - to keep watching and not expect anything, or to walk away. In the end, I tried a third way, which I suspect many of you have chosen as well: I was too invested in these characters to abandon them, but I also wanted this story to be an honest story, so I started complementing it with ‘viewing supports’. I started to read (and write) fanfiction. I looked for fanvideos, fanart and gifs. And, most of all, I fell into the habit of reading (and writing) metas after every episode to make sure what I was seeing was actually there. Because, well, for me - that’s why I write metas about Supernatural when I don’t write metas of other shows I enjoy much more: because most of the time Supernatural is more focused on not telling a story than it is in telling one, which means what we are left with what is a half story where our characters have their own secret life offscreen and many lines of dialogue could mean anything. Ironically enough, Supernatural has become like its hero and POV character, Dean Winchester: a con and a liar and a charmer who tries to be liked by everyone.

(And let’s not forget the swings both ways thing).

As for the other question - are we crazy? - I’m hoping this post will help clearing things up: no, we are not crazy. The reason we see a romance unfolding is because the relationship between Dean and Cas is written to fit a romance arc - and does fit a romance arc by 67%.

Hello everyone! Before I start I wanted to thank you for your time to read this all, I know it’s a lot to take in. Weather you are kin yourself, have no idea what it is, or even if you dislike it, the fact that you are willing to make an attempt to understand is a gift indeed!

Kin has had a bad name, and it’s poorly explained I’ve seen too many times. It also isn’t the most liked group of individuals. In fact, a lot of blogs refuse to even interact with them. I used to hate kin with a passion, until I sat down and tried to understand it and learned for myself it wasn’t at all something negative! So sit back and prepare for a class on Kin!

The whole idea of Kin is tied to the belief of the multi-universe theory and reincarnation. The term ‘kin’ comes from the Celtic world meaning ‘remember’ because kin are people who remember their past lives!
The multiverse theory is the idea that our universe is not the only one, but one that is parallel to an infinite number of universes. These universes can be vastly different, but also could be our with the slightest difference down to just how a tree grew 2 inches more left, crazy to think about how many there are right? This being said, this means there can be universes that mermaids exist, or that hogwarts was a real place! This sounds extremely far fetched I know since this can include universes based on all FAKE AND FICTION. Consider this if you may then; all of these universes seep into another in several ways, and we don’t always understand them. The fourth wall, the page in the book, even an idea of a story or character are like a tunnel we see with our universe on one end and the other universe on the other end.

“Well that’s not true, this _____ was created by this person!” Yes that is true, all credit should go to the creators of these works. But these ideas have to come from somewhere right? The creators of these things can be the tunnels, being the one which we are able to perceive this universe in our universe, like watching a television or reading a book. Every universe that will ever exist have already existed, such as the example of being APH America kin, before Himaruya was even writing about Hetalia, the universe already existed, he was just able to see it before others! And through that universe it was seen in our universe through his mind, and from his mind to his hand and then his pencil. See what I mean? Cracks in our universe to let us see other universes aren’t always going to be cracks.

We also incorporate the idea of reincarnation, that we are reborn. We had a past life, perhaps as a squirrel or as an angel. If energy can not be created or destroyed, then it must travel. Travel from one life to the next, and sometimes from one universe to another. We call it past life to make it easier to explain, but universes aren’t tied to one timeline, you could have lived that past life long ago, or perhaps haven’t yet, time is a messy thing, but space is even more so!☆
So…we understand the background a little, what exactly does being kin mean? How do you know your kin? These are frequently asked questions with answers I have! It is not a choice who you are kin with, just like choosing who you are isn’t a choice or your sexuality isn’t a choice. “I really like this character so I’m gonna be that character lol” is NOT real kin. Naturally you’ll like yourself obviously have an attraction to that character but you do not chose. How you discover you are kin is by receiving memories of your past life being that person, animal, etc. You also get feelings or emotions that feel out of place and not yours, initiated by something that reminded you subconsciously of your past experiences.

The troubles of being kin is being smart and taking in the consideration of “is this a real memory or is it just my imagination”. kin people who seem to have endless 'memories’ might just be someone who has lots of head canons, which is why it’s always important not to let you'r emotions control your mind and analyze yourself and the possible memory! If you didn’t question being kin and not crazy then you really need to analyze yourself, since you need to keep your logic.

Kin is not a coping mechanism. Kin is not a coping mechanism. KIN IS NOT A COPING MECHANISM. people who claim that it is are not understanding kin correctly. Saying it’s a coping mechanism is claiming that none of it is real to you at all, and you damage the community name. While yes kin can help you as a person grow, but that is just a side effect, not it’s purpose. Kin doesn’t have any set purpose, but for each person to just remember the past.

Whats worse then calling kin a coping mechanism?
KIN
ISN’T
A
GENDER.
The worst thing ever to say kin is, is a gender. You can not sexually identify as a person, or “I sexuality identify as a wolf” wolf is NOT a gender. AMERICA is not a gender. Kin is a PAST LIFE. Those who claim it to be a gender are the worst of our kind. “I sexually identify as an apatchi attack helicopter” is why we are hated is because people make us hated for this reason.

As I said before, kin memories are used to help someonr as a person grow, which brings me to my closing explanation, what do kin do? The challenge that kin face is getting over the fact that they aren’t who they once was. It’s a struggle for many to accept they aren’t that anymore. What does this boil down to? ~Believing in yourself~ that the you, here and now, are better then you were before. You remember your past life but you also have to learn from it. You made mistakes and you learned things in that life that can be continued in this one, such as values and things you devolved in the past life that now are yours with a whole new life to start! Isn’t that amazing? A new life just for you to start, so don’t ever waste it obsessing over your last one okay?

Another big problem is people forcing their kin identity onto others. It’s like getting into a strangers face and yelling “I’M TRANSGENDER” because the stranger doesn’t need to know, the stranger doesn’t care. Strangers on Tumblr too, you can post about it, but actively trying to force others to accept you isn’t going to work, and only damage your chances. Plus, your memories are really personal, fun to share but they are still special and sacred, keep them special.

In summary, kin is misunderstood and disliked for good reason, but represent the community in a way you want us to be viewed. Let people ask you about your kin, not go to them and tell. Learn to leave the past in the past, and above all else, enjoy this life as your only and last.♡

(Please reblog so others can learn and be aware? Even if you’re not kin it would be so appreciated!)

Tsukuyomi Theory Masterpost (EDITED)

WARNING! MANGA SPOILERS

I gathered everything known about the Tsukuyomi theory as of ch.60… or everything I know of at least….

Mostly my theories, but a few facts from undergroundsky. I invite you to read through the “Tskuyomi theory” tags for the things I might have missed.

  • Introduction: How the theory came to be
  • Symbolic “coincidences”
  • Father theory
  • Spells on gods
  • Heavens’ involvement

It may have been a hint for Yato’s “Father” role in his survival, but as the chapters releases, it becomes even more likely that it hints at something else. This added with the convenient fact that gods don’t remember their past life spawned an interesting theory:

Yato is not at his first incarnation and he has more than one true name…

Angst Management

(Want more? Check out my Writing tag!)

Angst in fiction–and especially in roleplay–is one of those things that gets misused or played for melodrama so often that I’m lead to believe that a lot of people have pretty much given up on attempting to use it. After all, the way most people use angst in roleplay is to draw attention or sympathy to themselves, and the people who use angst poorly end up grinding said attention and sympathy into a nice little line of dust so they can snort it like the addicts they are.

And it doesn’t need to be like that. Angst is a tool. At it’s heart, it’s an emotion. It’s a feeling of unfocused anxiety or despair about one’s circumstances, and it can be done well.

The core of this is to avoid repetitive angst at all costs. Angst, like anything in writing, gets incredibly boring when the only thing that happens is angst. When the character reacts to everything with angst.

The thing that makes common “angst” annoying to deal with is that it never fucking stops. I’m sure everyone can think of a some examples they’ve encountered at one point, who have a button called “create angst, generate sympathy” and then just push that button over and over again.

The emo character who is angsty about everything, from world hunger to stubbing his toe on the coffee table.

The somehow-demure female who’s history is apparently nothing but torture and mayhem (which comes up every single fucking time she gets sad about something).

The hardened mercenary character who distrusts the things everyone around them says–not because it makes sense, but because I have a dark past so I can’t believe anyone anymore.

The female character being surrounded by dozens and dozens of different men telling her over and over that she’s beautiful and she believes none of them so once again they must tell her so she disbelieves them so they reassure her and the circle just keeps fucking going and WOMAN I AM GOING TO GNAW YOUR GODDAMN FACE OFF SO AT LEAST YOU WILL ASK IF SKELETOR LOOKS MORE ATTRACTIVE ARGHHGHGHRTHRGH

No.

Stop.

Get some help.

Angst is at its most boring and intolerable when it’s redundant

So how do we avoid this? Well, a couple of ways.

anonymous asked:

Hey! I started following this blog a while ago and I was just wondering if I could ask a question. Do you have any recommendations for newcomers to comics? I'm not sure if you've already made a post like this or not but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Hi there! You’re always welcome to ask us questions about comics!

We haven’t covered this sort of recommendation before, but you can check out our comic recs tag to find what people have asked for in the past.

Comics are a tricky thing to get into, with so much out there to choose from. Personally, I’d recommend starting with some indie comics. Whilst superhero comics are the most popular, the DC and Marvel universes can be tough to navigate since they work of the basis of decades of shared continuity. That’s not to say you shouldn’t try them - there’s some really great LGBT+ characters in those universes! We’ve recommended some of our favorites in the rec tag before.

But indie comics have the advantage of being stand alone stories that let you jump straight in, great for newcomers! Also, many of them are written by LGBT+ creators who have been given the freedom to write the stories they really care about. Here’s some of my personal favorite indie comics that star LGBT+ characters:

Joyride by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly and Marcus To (Published by Boom! Studios): Set in a bleak future, Uma Akkolyte and her friends steal a spaceship and take off for some heroic adventures!

Motor Crush by Babs Tarr, Brenden Fletcher and Cameron Stewart (Published by Image Comics): Domino Swift races motorbikes in the World Grand Prix, where some racers use the illegal stimulant known as Crush to make their bikes faster. Domino is caught up in a mystery over Crush and her past!

Giant Days by John Allison and Max Sarin (Published by Boom! Studios): Daisy, Esther and Susan met when they started University together, and quickly became best friends. This is a slice of life about the adventures they get up to!

The Wicked + The Divine by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie (published by Image Comics): Every 90 years, 12 gods are reincarnated in young people. They’re the ultimate pop stars, performing for the world. But there’s a catch. Within 2 years, they’ll all be dead.

Goldie Vance by Hope Larson and Brittney Williams (Published by Boom! Studios): Goldie Vance works at a resort that her dad runs, and loves to help the in-house detective. Her and her pals get up to all sorts of adventures trying to work out the mysteries!

The Infinite Loop by Pierrick Colinet and Elsa Charretier (Published by IDW Publishing): Teddy comes from a future where her job is to time travel and fix time paradoxes. But when she comes across a paradox in the form of a girl, Ano, she must contemplate if she’s been doing the right thing.

Godshaper by Simon Spurrier and Jonas Goonface (Published by Boom! Studios): In a world where everything is powered by your own personal god, Ennay is one of few who have no god, but can shape other peoples gods. Travelling the road as a shaper for hire, he meets Bud, a mysterious small god who has no person.

Moonstruck by Grace Ellis and Shae Beagle (Published by Image Comics): In a world full of fantasy creatures, Julie is just trying to live a normal life working as a barista and dating her girlfriend. But there’s nothing normal about her pesky werewolf transformations, or the magical conspiracy she and her friends find themselves in!

Hopefully you’ll find something here to love! Don’t forget to check out our ongoing comics page for even more series, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

"How Do I Stop Being Kin!?”: A Helpful Guide (Long Post)

so… yup. tumblr ate some of my archive, including one of my most important posts: a list of steps on how to distance yourself from the kin community. as there’s no way (that i know of) to get that post back… here’s this!

how to use the guide: all complaints/problems that kin frequently send when they don’t want to be kin anymore? those are in large bold. each complaint has a list of steps on how to solve it; the steps (my responses) are just in the normal font. don’t see what you need? send an ask saying you want to see it in a part 2!

“I don’t want to be kin with (x) anymore!”

okay! this one centers mostly around keeping lists. and as i said to the most recent anon, the first step toward stopping is wanting to stop.

1. get two separate sheets of paper (or start digital documents you can print later). on one, write “(Your Name) List”. on the other, write “(Kintype Name) List.”

2. fill the YN List first. write down every one of your own traits that you can name. they can relate to appearance, gender, hobbies/interests, mental health, neurodiversity, hopes and aspirations, etc. these do not all have to be good things. try to have a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 balance of good, bad, and neutral traits. (an example of a bad trait/habit is “nail biting”, because that’s harmful. not “brown hair”. if you don’t like your hair color put “brown hair” down as a neutral trait. it’s not bad, you just want a different color.)

3. fill the KN (kintype name) list next. do not use “i”, “we”, “myself”, in this list becase it’s not about you.

  • if it’s a fictional character, write down facts relating to the character’s creation. who’s the author/designer/creator? what year was the source released? what type of media is the source – a fantasy book, a video game, a movie? emphasize that the character is fictional, not real (add ‘in this universe’ if you believe in the multiverse theory) and cannot be reincarnated.

• if it’s an animal, write down all of its behaviors: does it eat meat? what sounds does it make? is it dangerous or not? now, if you believe in reincarnation, it’s way more plausible that animals can be reincarnated and their next lives can be as humans. emphasize that even if you were the animal in a past life, you are a human now – it is not healthy to think you literally still are the animal and/or to behave like it.

•  if it’s a part of nature, like a star or a tree, write down all the facts about it that you know and emphasize that it is not sentient, it doesn’t have a soul, and it cannot make choices or be reincarnated.

keep the lists with you (as a physical copy/paper).

4. tell yourself that it’s okay to like the character, animal, or thing, it’s okay to feel that it represents part of who you are. it’s okay to feel comforted by it when you’ve had a shitty day or you’re in a bad mood. feeling these things does not automatically make you kin. write these down on a small piece of paper and keep the paper with you.

5. even though it is okay to like the character/animal/thing, slowly start avoiding content that includes it. if you are trying to stop being fictionkin, do not watch the source. stay away from fanfic, pictures, etc, that make you have strong emotions about it.

6. if you ever are feeling guilty about something your kintype did (and this applies mostly to villain kin), you are projecting. whether you’re feeling guilty about your own mistakes without realizing, or you want the chance to fix something/apologize, you are projecting. if you are acting out what you really, really want the villain to do – ie, you relate to them strongly but they’re not repentant and you want them to be… rp. start a roleplay blog, write a redemption au. look back at your lists again.

• if it’s not a villain, but you’re feeling guilty about something bad your kintype did, still do a bit of rp and keep looking back at those lists!

7. whenever you have “kinfeels” or “kin memories”, look at your YN and KN lists. read them to remind yourself that you are not the same person as the character, not the same being as the animal, and not something inanimate.

8. try new things and (now i’m not saying this to be a bitch) go outside. i mean it. vitamin d is good for you. you don’t have to exercise, but if you are able to, go for it. visit the library, the park, a coffee shop, the mall, anywhere. test out new hobbies, like

• writing fiction (could be about the character/animal/thing, if this is how you maintain a connection with it while not identifying as it)

 • traditional drawing

 • digital drawing

 • sewing, knitting, or crochet

• writing movie critiques/analyses

• jewelry making

• making non-kin-related selfcare

• sports

“I want to get out of the community, but I’m not ready to let go of my kintypes!”

so you’re not ready? okay. this is still your first step. you will fuck yourself over badly if you push yourself to 100% stop being kin before you can function without it. this is true in situations like abusive households or trauma: if you pretend that you’re someone else who’s never had to deal with those things, you are using escapism to let off stress and unwind.

1. change your blog theme. i know it sounds dumb and unrelated. however, having a visual change will make you more inclined to change other things – and it will start to tell other people in the community that you are able to change.

2. update your about, kin page, and byf. take things like “don’t follow if you don’t see me as (kintype)”, “no doubles”, and kin-related discourse out of those pages. anything that typically appears in kin cringe comps? take it out. (look through my blog for example of typical cringe comp material.)

• don’t say “literally me”, “100% me”, “ID” about the kintypes you list.

• instead of having separate sections for “primary”, “secondary”, “tertiary”, things like that… just say “kintypes” once and list them/insert their pictures.

• do NOT link to others’ blogs saying “this person is my (canonmate name)!” or “i found my (important canonmate)!

• whatever your stance on ace discourse… take that out of your pages. i have no idea why, but the kin community is fucking overrun with people thinking that aces/aros aren’t lgbtq+. removing this discourse from your blog will remove you from another common kin community behavior. (it’s totally okay to post ace/aro positivity, but don’t involve yourself in heavy discourse and don’t put “Aces/aros are/aren’t lgbtq!” on your about/kinpage/byf.)

3. if you list kin friends or kin blogs on one of your pages, consider taking out the links and just describing the friends/blogs. this will distance your blog from the network of kin on here.

4. instead of requesting “kintype selfcare/positivity” from those kin resource blogs:

• reblog aesthetics that remind you of the kintypes, but is not labeled as “(kintype) aesthetic”.

• make some aesthetics yourself based on the kintypes. if you’re tagging, then just use general tags (ie, “kin”, “otherkin”, or “fictionkin”), not specifically the character’s name or the type of animal you identify with.

• write positive affirmations for yourself, such as “i got enough sleep so this will be a better day!” or “i didn’t lie in bed all day so i feel motivated!” or “i ate something healthy instead of junk food!”

• if you’re writing affirmations specifically about a kintype, don’t refer to the kintype using “i” or “we”. instead, write “(character) tries their best to fix wrongdoings, so i will too!” or “(character) makes an effort to overcome anxiety, so i’m going to try harder too!” or “(animal) isn’t inherently bad/gross; it’s trying to survive like me!”

• basically, when writing positivity/affirmations, pick a trait that the kintype has that you want to have too. don’t just say “i have this trait because i am (kintype)!”

• sorry not sorry, but the overwhelming majority of the positivity on those blogs is useless. it might make you feel better for a couple minutes, but it’s superficial. even if the person running the blog genuinely wants people to feel better, they are still operating under the obligation to give positivity.

it is not as genuine as it should be. the person doesn’t know who you are, and they might not know a lot about the kintype. the positivity from those blogs is generic, ie, “even if you’ve done some bad things, you’re not a bad person!” You need specifics, which only you can come up with – because only you know yourself. when something is vague or general, we think deep down that it’s not true. (btw, that’s the same psychology behind the “sounds fake but okay” meme.)

5. if your mutuals get into kin drama, or if you see kin drama on your dash, stay out of it. it does not matter right now if these people are your best friends in the world, because once the drama dies down, your url is still all over those posts. even if the people who started the drama delete the posts, other people have everything saved. the things you said in anger or anxiety or whatever are still on tumblr. and tumblr has an extremely difficult time recognizing that what someone said three months ago doesn’t define what they say now.

6. unfollow people who have ‘typical cringe comp material’ on their pages and/or people who frequently are involved in drama.

• if they have “ask to unfollow” on their pages, unfollow anyway. if they harass you about it, block them (and maybe report for… violating community guidelines. or harassment). DON’T PUT THIS ON YOUR PAGES. EVER. FOLLOWING YOU IS NOT A CHORE. MAKING PEOPLE ASK PERMISSION TO UNFOLLOW YOU CAN CAUSE THEM HUGE AMOUNTS OF ANXIETY. IT’S SHITTY AND ENTITLED. DON’T DO IT.

7. if you’re going to send hate to antis, i can’t stop you, but for fuck’s sake, do that on anon. (”what!?” you say as you read this post. “but don’t antis think anon hate is cowardly!?”) you just don’t want to be known as someone active enough in the community to send off-anon shit.

8. if i have or another anti/cringe blog has screenshotted your post/page, ask for it to be removed. no promises that other blogs will remove your stuff, but here on kce and over at @only-on-tomblr, we will. having your content up on popular cringe blogs can definitely get you recognized among the community, and you don’t want that.

“I don’t want to rely so hard on being kin – I want kin to be a casual thing!”

1. first off, follow the “i want to get out of the community” list. you don’t have to stop identifying as kin, you just need to distance yourself from that network of over the top, hardcore kin people.

2. recognize that kin is your coping mechanism. it is okay to use escapism (that’s what kin is tbh) to cope. it is okay to step away from reality, unwind, then go back to reality after a few hours of doing kin stuff/rp.

3. recognize that any coping mechanism is going to be harmful when you take it too far. when it goes too far, it becomes an obsession. (because i am sure someone’s going to say this, i’m not dragging special interests. those are not the same as coping mechanisms gone wrong and this post does not relate to special interests.

4. guess what? you don’t need just one coping mechanism. and because you’re not completely dropping the kintypes, you need to focus your kin-related energy into a creative outlet. what i mean by that is… write about them. draw pictures of them. do commissions, even for people who have the same kintype. not to mention, if you write about/draw them a lot, you are getting so much better at those skills.

5. optional: it would also help to make lists of your traits and the kintypes’ traits, like in the first section of this post.

6. as with the other sections, do not refer to the kintypes as “myself”/”i”.

that’s about it

Other things you can do

• write a brief analysis of an episode, movie, chapter, etc in which the character/kintype appears. what does the person/being do and why? how do their actions result in the episode/chapter/game/movie ending? how do other characters react to it? and how is this different from what you would do, right now, if you were in the same situation? (obviously no one has to see it, so doesn’t matter if it sucks)

• interact with people who have the same kintype so you can become more comfortable with “doubles” and thus be less intense about being kin

• when you’re watching/reading/playing/listening to new media (’source’), and you begin to have “kinfeels” for someone, step back. put the book down. pause the show or podcast. remind yourself that this is fiction. even if the multiverse does exist, your kintype cannot cross between universes and ‘be’ you. you are most likely projecting onto the character or you are inspired to create a similar character/oc.

• aaand…. here it comes… oh god. oh no. limit your time on tumblr. do not spend all day on this forsaken hellsite.

Things to absolutely NOT do

post anything like “why did the author put me/kintype in a relationship with a girl!? i’m gay!” all that does is imply that you think you have some kind of ownership over someone else’s character. it makes you look like you want everything to go your way – and not everything can. i am not saying that to be a jerk.

• ask people to unfollow you. as i said before (now, i don’t have anxiety so this isn’t from firsthand experience), do you have any idea how much anxiety that causes people? and how shitty a thing it is to do?

• harass someone over being a double

• tell them to unfollow/stop interacting because they are a double

• compare being kin to being trans or nonbinary. for fuck’s sake. there’s no such thing as a “kingender”.

                     - even if your kintype was female in ‘your source’, but wasn’t                                  female in canon… that does not mean you are trans and it does                            not mean the kintype is trans.

                    - even if you are trans yourself, it has absolutely nothing to do with                        you identifying as kin. they are not related. you are a trans person                        who also happens to be kin.

                   - things like “canidgender: a gender that feels tough and ready to                           defend, a gender that makes you feel alert, a gender that….” are not                     real. gender is not an emotion. besides, these descriptions have                            nothing to do with gender.

  • say that you have dysphoria about your kintype. again, if you have dysphoria, it’s because you are transgender/nonbinary. you do not have “species dysphoria” about your astral ears. just because it’s listed on google with a definition does not mean it’s legit.

• use ‘kin pronouns’ like glitch/glitchs/glitchself. ne/nes/neself. star/stars/starself. it/its. the very concept of kin pronouns suggests that gender is automatically tied to kin. it’s not. and you are not an object.

• send people hate or get into discourse about headcanons involving your kintype

• tag art as “me” or “kin” or “id”. even if the artist says it’s okay, avoiding this is another way to distance yourself from a harmful community. if you need/want to keep a tagging system, just tag it with the character’s name or the type of animal.

• tell someone that they are “your (important canonmate).

• especially do not tell someone that your characters dated and that you must begin a romantic relationship because of that!

• insist that someone just has to remember something that you remember! here’s an appropriate exchange on this.

you: “do you remember when our kintypes had that huge fight, then                     made up and dated for a few months? we drifted apart and stopped                    dating.”

them: “no… i recall something different.”

               you: “oh. well, that’s okay!”

comments i just know i’m going to get (they’re useless. don’t post them and don’t send them to me)

you’re policing our identities!

•you can’t dictate how we cope!

• you can’t take away our fun!

• how would you know how this stuff works? you’re not kin!

• ableist!

• go do something productive!

• i don’t care. i’m doing these things anyway!

Jon/Sansa weekly fic roundup

Hey guys! I was recently made aware that the AO3feed system, by only reblogging the fics *posted* to the tag, leaves out a lot of multichapter fics that are being updated - so I’ve decided to try and do a fic rec weekly roundup with all the other amazing works that showed up in the AO3 tag this week, and see if people like it.

Fics in the rec list are divided by categories, and have all been updated in the last week. Here we go!

Canon/Canon Divergence

  • Existential by @angelwings1980 - Jon is slaughtered by his Sworn Brothers, releasing him from his vows. Held between life and death, blood creates a new vow he never anticipated but can’t live without. The story of Jon and Sansa will be written in the songs but for them, it has been written in blood and fire. Rated E; Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings

  • As It Should Be by nairmakgren - Jon and Sansa deal with a shocking truth. Rated M; Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings

  • They Lost Their Wolves by @bluecichlid - He came back wrong, dark … changed. She reached the end of her patience for playing by the rules. In a deserted Winterfell, in the dead of the night, they found each other. Dark erotica. Rated E; Graphic Depictions Of Violence

  • The Long Night Of Intimacy by agotjonandsansaA plot-heavy post season 6 fic dealing with recovery, falling in love, and the Long Night. Rated M; Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con

  • The Chill Of Winter by @bitterseaproduction - As the snows fall on Winterfell, the Starks are left to the cruelties of winter. But mayhaps, even as their souls freeze over, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark will stumble into a warmth they had never thought to know. Rated M; Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, Underage

seanfmcguire  asked:

Hi there! Ok, so you tumblr is Such A Good™️ and I love it. But... Tom Riddle/Harry Potter??? Oh. My. GOD. I need it. I've never got Drarry and always loved Chamber of Secrets Tom Riddle; he's one of my favorite things about the series. So Tom/Harry is speaking to me and oh my god I NEED IT. Where is a good place to start??? Please guide me because I need all the things. :D

omg, hi, ty! :D Yes, Tom/Harry has grabbed me by my feelings this summer and I’ve been drowning in fic about it. (Though right now, those feelings are being slightly usurped by Grindelwald|Grindelgraves/Credence and Grindelwald/Dumbledore because what is with me and shipping dark lords, i swear.)

When it comes to tumblr ship blogs to follow, there’s @darklordtomarry and @soulmagicmindtricks (Janet <3333). They reblog HPLV/HPTR related things like art/gifs/etc. and both of them are awesome people.

Anyways, I run @thetomarrylibrary with Jaleesa (@marvuolo) and there are a ton of fic recs there that you can check out! You can also take a look at my pinboard, where I’ve bookmarked a ton of HPTR and HPLV fic with tags and notes. You can filter for tropes and word count and stuff there.

When it comes to my favorite Tomarry fics…there are my all-time favorites.

Hauntingly by ObsidianPen, 470K, WIP [eta: now complete] - this is actually more HPLV, but it hits my id ridiculously hard and makes me want to cry whenever I think about my favorite lines (why do u do this to us, Jamie). Post-OotP, Voldemort figures out that Harry is a Horcrux and becomes obsessed with him. Vivid dreamsharing, gorgeous imagery, A+ character development. Perfect mix of plot, humor, and feelings. Character bashing free. Obsessive, all-consuming romantic love in the language of religion. Life-changing.

Gilgamesh by Morgan Steelgrave, 18K, complete -  Cursed by Voldemort, Harry time travels to the past in an attempt to kill Tom Riddle. Tom becomes fascinated with the time-traveling stranger; his life is derailed as he tries to find Harry again. Neat inclusion of the Hallows.

Yule by budchick, 12K, complete -  Tom Riddle makes a wish on a ‘wishing candle’ about losing his virginity. Harry suddenly appears; he’s a time traveling Auror chasing after the fugitive Aleco Carrow. Tom falls in love and grows up. Sounds cracky but excellent character development for Tom.

Reparabilis by Rhyte, 5K, complete -  Tom Riddle never became Voldemort. As DADA professor, he becomes fascinated with Harry. The prose is hella beautiful and memorable.

And regarding authors to check out, definitely look through stuff written by Paimpont, The_Fictionist (like Dancing With Deceit or Love’s Loathing), and MayMarlow (like The Train to Nowhere, a great take on an AU where Voldemort won).

Other fic of note would be Words Fail by NeaMarika and Wear Me Like a Locket Around Your Throat by VivyPotter, which are two longfics that pull off the ‘Harry goes back in time to the 40s and attends Hogwarts’ plot very well.

Oh, and Full Circle by tetsurashian is my favorite HPTR crackfic, because it’s about Tom and Harry being stuck in an endless loop of reincarnation where they keep meeting each other and it makes me lol every time I reread it.

Theories about Rey's lineage

Rey is the central figure of the Sequel Trilogy, so it’s not surprising that the identity of her parents is the hot topic. After TFA came out there was only one dominating theory abour Rey’s bloodline (the one I hate with passion of the thousands suns), but since TFA was released on DVD and Blu-Ray, Bloodline came out and we’ve been exposed to many spoilers the balance among theorists have shifted significantly and I decided to explore and comment on all existing theories about Rey’s parents and how they may affect her character arc in future movies considering all existing information.

Rey Solo

This theory is dead and thank God for that!

Not only it would’ve been a character assassination for Han/Leia - it simply never made any sense in the context of the  movie. You would think that Han or Leia would comment on the fact that Ben is not their only child and they left their younger daughter in a desert with some creep because…. reasons. I mean…. Ulkar and Jakku itself was a much bigger threat for Rey’s safety than Ben himself, so either Han and Leia are very stupid or they decided to get rid of their daughter just in case she becomes Dark too.

And this theory also made no sense for Rey’s character development. The whole point of the TFA was to make Rey move on from the idea that she needs to wait for her family. She must continue to move forward in order to create new relationships in her life and create her own family, which she kinda did - with FInn, Chewy and Leia (and I am sure Poe wouldn’t mind to join her friend circle too). So it made no sense for her to overcome her own fears of abandonment so in the end she could stumble upon the people who abandoned her in the first place. And this would happen in the first part of her journey!

Ridiculous!

What an awkward reunion it would’ve been for Ben and his sis though…

I understand why it existed before TFA was released. But why did this theory existed for so long after? I have no idea.

Rey Skywalker

A lot of people I know (relatives, friends, colleagues) came to me after watching TFA with that crazy theory that Luke is Rey’s father.

My reaction:

Yeah…. If your average Joe immediately finds out the answer for your most guarded plot twist in the Trilogy, it’s not a very good plot twist. It’s actually laughable and pathetic. But apparently most of the fandom prefers to believe that the writers are that incompetent and they made the answer for this question THAT obvious.

The problem is while this answer sounds obvious -  in reality this theory is as crazy and ridiculous as the previous one.

We know that the “destruction” of Jedi Temple (presumably caused by Ben Solo) happened long after Rey was born. So…. Why Luke sent his daughter off to Jakku? If it was her mother, why did she hide the fact from Luke? Why Jakku of all places? Why Luke didn’t even bother to find his child and was chilling in Anch-To? Why Leia and Kylo didn’t recognise her as a Skywalker? Why Luke would keep it a secret - even after Rey reunited with him (considering the fact that we know that Rey’s parents identity will be revealed in Episode IX if we to believe Colin Trevorrow)? Why the hell did they made every Rey’s interaction with Kylo filled with so much sexual tension and subtext if they are related? What will be the point of this reveal if Rey have already met her father in the end of the first part of her journey? How will it influence her story? What is the point of hiding presumed Luke’s fatherhood still?

If this theory is true than the writers are so lazy it’s not even funny. Even reveal that Palpatine is the Emperor would be more shocking than this one.

But people still believe it. Apparently Luke is going to choose Kylo over Rey and it would lead her to the Dark Side which explains the recent filming spoilers and it totally makes sense and Reylo can never be canon so…. Yeah….

Rey Erso

They are both white women with brown hair which automatically means that they are related. Cause God forbid for female characters to exist without them being someone’s baby mom!

No, guys. I will believe Daisy and Pablo on this one. This theory is false.

Rey Kenobi

This theory is the most legit one. The fact that Rey and Obi Wan have a lot of parallels - the biggest one being between Reylo’s snow fight and the last fights between Anakin and Obi Wan; the fact that Ewan McGregor was invited to the studio to record his words to Rey and they even edited Alec Guiness lines, so he could call Rey by name -  all of this leads me to believe that this theory is true.

The reveal itself won’t affect Rey too much - she never knew her ancestor but it may influence her relationship with Luke and Kylo (who is actually named after Obi Wan) and there would be a lot of great thematic callbacks to both prequels and original Trilogy if Rey is truly a Kenobi.

It would be so fitting for Kenobi and Skywalker’s feud to end with their grandchildren mending the bridges…. among other things.

But there are more theories to explore.

Rey Palpatine/Dark Origins

This one is…. tricky. There is not a lot of evidence supporting this theory. Some say that Rey’s fighting style resembles Sheev’s (I’d say it resembles Kylo’s because Force Bond but it’s debatable). Also there is the fact that her parents left her on Jakku and if they were targeted because they were Imperial royalty it would make sense for them to dump her in Jakku - a place where noone would think to seek a young princess and an heir of Palpatine’s legacy. But… It’s all just a speculation.

Although this reveal would shake Rey’s worldview greatly. She cares about her family so much and the fact that she associates herself with her family’s enemies (or even worse - their possible killers) would make her question a lot of things.

Enter Kylo - the guy who is ready to open her eyes to “the true nature” of the good guys and we have a very interesting plot possibilities here.

And thematically it would add so much to her being a complete foil to Kylo - she is “Light” with Dark origins and he is “Dark” with Light origins.

It would be even cooler if she actually seduces him back to the LIght which would mirror her granddparent’s actions when he seduced Anakin to the Dark Side.

Besides, it would prove that Skywalkers just can’t stay away from Palpatines and their…. allure ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

God can’t help me now

Rey Random

I like this theory a lot because it would prove once and for all that it’s not our bloodline that makes us special - it’s our own actions and decisions.

“Just a scavenger” kicking everyone’s asses - that’s something I can get behind!

But….

After all this drama and JJ’s mystery box this answer would feel…. not satisfying for many people

And we have this quote from Colin Trevorrow - the director of Episode IX:

“I’ve seen all of the theories… What I do know is that we’re going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying, because Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens but in the entire galaxy, and she deserves it. So we’ll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was—it’s something that happened a long time ago [in a galaxy] far, far away, we’re just telling you what happened.”

It seems that the plot twist will be a little more than Rey’s parents were Jane and John Whites - for better or worse.

Rey is the Child of the Force/the reincarnation of Anakin/the Chosen One

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Well…. We already have Sokka (Finn) and Zuko (Kylo) in this story. May as well add Aang and his past lives to this mix!

But, to be honest, this theory would be hard to pull off if it’s true. It demands a lot of explanation and we’ll have to return to prequels and the fact that Anakin was a Space Jesus gone wrong again which many fans won’t like too much.

It would explain why Rey’s awakening was so prominent that every Force user had felt it. And it would calm the cries of bitter fans who can’t understand why Rey is so good in the Force.

But it feels like cheating.

Creating new “Space Jesus” figure to rehash the same storyline that was given to Anakin but this time with parts of Luke’s story bits and, maybe, with a different ending… That’s not very creative. But it’s still possible, so I won’t dismiss this theory yet.

The conclusion

As you can see, despite the fact that not long ago Rey Skywalker was considered to be the only true option, nowadays we have much more to choose from. And I didn’t even mention the possible Finn’s theories that can also change the story dramatically.

But whatever theory will be proven to be right, I hope that it won’t interfere with Rey’s character development and it will allow her to shine on her own.

Rey deserves it after all!!!

I wanted to primarily use this to promote lesser known writers, but I’ve only been in the fandom (online) for a little over 6 months I’m not always sure who is a lesser known writer and who isn’t. I think sometimes it depends on the pack they run in so, I’ve just chosen some of the fics I’ve really enjoyed lately that aren’t from the really big BNFs.

(I also started on all of this before Fresh Meat asked that we only rec one fic per Friday, which I will do from now on but didn’t want to waste all this effort!)

So - in no particular order…

Pride by DrJLecter ( @drjlecter) 500 words
Teen And Up Audiences // F/F, F/M, M/M, Multi // Will Graham & Hannibal Lecter / Hugh Dancy & Mads Mikkelsen //
Summary: They are shooting scenes for Hannibal at a real Pride Parade and everyone gets carried away in the elated atmosphere.

OMG! I fucking screamed whilst reading this and for a full 5 minutes after. I love everything I’ve read by this writer but this one is just magical. If you have 2 minutes to spare today you should be reading this!

Busted by FauxFidele  ( @hannimeow) - 2k words
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
Summary: Will is busted for watching porn when Hannibal is away teaching a class at the local university. Cue the dirty pictures.

This is a wonderful tale from a fantastic writer! I was actually a little on edge reading this, not wanting Will to get found out but at the same time jealous on Hannibal’s behalf. For smut it definitely pulls the feels and the ending is just perfect!

We’ll meet again by Moonstruckidiot - 2k words
General Audiences // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: MCD kind of? Some angst.
Summary: Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham died in each others arms after falling from a cliff into the Atlantic ocean; their bodies were lost to the sea.
37years later… Will walks into the art gallery of artist ‘Hannibal,’ both men discover a mutual interest in the sea
Or - Hannibal knows he is the reincarnation of Hannibal Lecter and he has been waiting for ‘his’ Will to come into his life.

This is absolutely wonderful and needs to be continued! I was hooked with the opening prologue and the rest of the story took my breath away! This is such a rich world, a new home for the characters we know and love.

Marbles by Llewcie ( @llewcie) - 5.5k words
Teen And Up Audiences // M/M // Nigel (Charlie Countryman)/Adam Raki // TAGS to note: underage as both characters are kids/teens (no u/a sex),bullying, mild angst
Summary: Adam moves to a new neighborhood and promptly loses a prized possession to the neighborhood bully. But when the tables are turned, Adam extracts a promise from Nigel that will follow them through the years. The friendship that develops as a result will end up meaning more to them than they ever could have anticipated.

I’m not going to lie, Llew is one of my favourite Spacedogs writers (you should also check out Craigslist and Merrie). This fic is heartbreaking in it’s journey and is just beyond amazing! Following these mismatched kids from enemies to friends to (eventually and very incredibly well done) lovers will make you weep in the best possible way!

Eunoia (series - 3 fics) by murdergatsby ( @ - 4k words
Mature, Teen And Up Audiences // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter // TAGS to note: Temporary Character Death, some angst and panic, Drowning
Summary: Well mind, beautiful thinking. Post-The Wrath of the Lamb Murder Husband Softness™

I don’t think the tags do justice to how to the fluffy and soft aspects of this little series. It is just delightful and a wonderful with just the right balance of feels! This writer never disappoints and this is no exception!

Reeling Him In by Devereauxs_Disease ( @devereauxsdisease) - 4kwords
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
Summary: Will wonders why Hannibal hasn’t kissed him, even though they’ve been dating for months. Hannibal would like to know what Will is talking about.

This is just glorious! I love this cracky version of the boys but with their usual *if only they’d talk to each other* misunderstandings! A fantastic ending that just proves what a food lover Hannibal is!

Still Beautiful by fragile-teacup (Mrs_Gene_Hunt) ( @fragile-teacup) - 1k words
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: Angst with a Happy Ending
Summary: A 1000 word post-TWOTL fic. Works as a stand-alone but is also an alternate take, from Hannibal’s POV, on a chapter from my current post-fall WIP fic, ‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell’, which is written from Will’s POV.

This is just such a beautifully written piece. The fact that so much passion and need is captured in 1000 words is just masterfully done on the part of the writer!

Physis by Chifuyu ( @staticraining) - 4k words
Teen And Up Audiences // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
Summary: After everything that has happened in Italy, there is still one last obstacle Will Graham has to overcome before he can try and pick up the broken pieces that once were his life: Being a witness at Hannibal Lecter’s trial.

The entire premise of this fic is fantastic, because of course Will is a compromised witness either way, and the characterisation of Lecter’s lawyer feels perfect. Watching Will squirm in the stand shouldn’t be this fun,and if it sounds like crack, it isn’t it is absolutely spot on!

Touch (Sweet Touch) by Hannigrammatic ( @hannigrammatic) - 1.5k words
Mature // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: Touch-Starved
Summary: Starvation of touch can be just as debilitating as a lack of nourishment. (or, Hannibal is distant after the fall, and Will misses him in more ways than he has words for.)

So refreshing, interesting and touching to see this focus on both Will and Hannibal, with snippets from Hannibal’s pov especially interesting, in what is often a scenario that focuses solely on Will. This was wonderfully done and gave me lots of feels!

Awakening by Rakusnow ( @rakusnow) - 1.5k words
Mature // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: Canon typical violence
Summary: They had recently moved to Bamfield, a small corner of the coast of Vancouver Island. They knew no-one and kept to themselves.

I just love the relationship that plays out in this fic, and blood lust Will is just wonderful!

Any Club That Would Have Us As Members by victorine ( @victorineb) - 1.2k words
General Audiences // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter
Summary:Will has always hidden parts of himself from other people. With Hannibal, that no longer seems necessary. Will wants to share every part of himself. And if that means settling in for a movie with a legendary killer and cannibal, well Will thinks that’s just fine…

Again a writer that I always enjoy, but I particular love this fic. It’s just so perfectly crafted and so well captured! Just…. urgh! The ease of their relationship and Will being able to be himself is just so beautiful and wonderfully written! But also so many feels! Will is delightfully written as free and easy. And his wonderful observations of Hannibal and their shared laughter paints them as best friends as well as murder husbands. An utter delight.

Defend Myself by The_owner ( @gio-hannigram) 1.7k words
Teen And Up Audiences // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: heavy angst, MCD.
Summary: Will’s heart pounded at Hannibal´s tone, there but at the same time so far away, almost lost. A whisper against his skin the only proof he was there, behind him.

This is a really beautiful fic that gave me a lot of feels!  Beautifully tragic, with rich imagery and the poetic confessions. I don’t often read heavy angst but I even loved the sadness here - because sometimes we need to explore this potential type of regret.

WIPS you should be reading!!

Whisked Away by shiphitsthefan ( @shiphitsthefan) - 25k word WIP
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter / Bedelia Du Maurier & Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: Agoraphobia, Disordered Eating, Dom/sub Undertones, Non-Sexual Submission, Past Abuse,  Other Additional Tags to Be Added
Summary: Coffee Shop AU - Will has always seen too much of the lives of others to ever want one of his own. On the other hand, Hannibal, as proprietor of Whisked Away, his hobby coffee shop and café, is living the public life he’s always wanted. Still, he longs to be seen and understood for who he really is. Neither ever saw this coming.

THIS!!! OMG I am loving this so much!! I’m a sucker for coffee shop AUs and this has so much more beyond that. It is rich and complex and the characters are so incredibly well drawn from the show into this setting. It is a slow burn I am more than happy to bake in until I catch fire!

12 Steps Wayward by BloodToInkbonelines, & howlscastle - 17k word WIP
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter //
TAGS to note: Drug Use, Drug Addiction, Sex Addiction, Rehabilitation, Violent Thoughts, Canon-Typical Violence, Obsessive Behavior,Other Additional Tags to Be Added
Summary: AU where Will and Hannibal, both young and at the age where most would be attending university, meet while staying in a rehabilitation facility. They’re both there for different reasons. Will, who has been struggling with his sex addiction, immediately begins lusting after Hannibal, who is recovering from a drug addiction that caused him to have to drop out of med school.

As this continues the characters feel more and more like the Will and Hannibal we know, but in this incredibly different AU setting. The writers manage to weave together an amazing tale that is more than you would expect from the premise of “sex addict Will”. This is complex and well thought through and for being a slow burn(ish) incredibly damn hot!

Why are you smoking? by HotSauce418 ( @hotsauce418) - 20k word WIP
Explicit // M/M // Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter / Will Graham/Nigel (Charlie Countryman) //
TAGS to note: Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics OmegaVerse,  Alpha/Omega, Alpha Nigel, Omega Will, Alpha Hannibal, Mating, surprise bond, Other Additional Tags to Be Added
Summary: Set during Season 1 - Hannibal doesn’t make his move fast enough and Will ends up accidentally bonding with his doppelganger in the throes of heat.

I am a big fan of fluffy/non-abusive ABO (as it can often be used as an excuse for such). The premise of accidental bonding can have the potential to go down that route but this is not the case here. This expertly takes the characters and puts them in this situation in a way true to their characters. What happens next is fantastic and feels true - and oh dear lord Will and Nigel are such a good match (I guess I have enough room in my brain for another ship, right?!)

There’s actually a bunch more fics I could add in here but it will go on forever, so I will just end with recommending reading anything by @slashyrogue@starkaryen@taeaelin and @samui-sakura88 they are just wonderful!

I loved the Glee finale but one of the things that struck me was how we had Jesse and Artie being directors (with Rachel and Tina as their performers) but none of the girls had ended up in that position.

So, Kitty. Kitty goes into performing and she starts to get parts in tv and film as an actress. She auditions for (and sometimes gets cast as) the Mean Girl or the Bitch. Sometimes she gets to be the Femme Fatale love interest. Occasionally she gets to be the Smug Girlfriend that the Sweetheart has to get rid of before she can be with the Main Boy.

It gets really boring.

Meanwhile Tina is also auditioning, also with some degree of success. She gets to play the Nice Friend, or the Science Geek, or the (very nearly silent) Girlfriend. The part she ends up with in Artie’s film is great but still it’s frustrating when Tina knows she could be doing so much more.

Tina and Kitty have never been particularly close but they share a lot of friends so they end up bumping into each other a lot when they’re all in New York; at one point they even work together on one of Artie’s projects.

One night midway through the project, when Artie’s in full Pretentious Director mode, the two of them sneak off together and that’s when they end up getting very drunk and one-upping each other with terrible audition stories and tales of the industry.

At some point between that night and the next morning they somehow come to the conclusion that they should produce something together. That way they could have all the power for once, and they’d make sure the women they cast got a fair shot at actual interesting parts.
