do i need to write what he could be saying in one

anonymous asked:

You should write some mute lance, whether its him having been mute in the past, being a selective mute, being injured and becoming mute, or straight up not talking anymore, i think you'd write it well

Okay!!

I kinda went on my own here, Whoops

On contrary to belief Lance didn’t like to talk. Well scratch that, he loved talking but he didn’t like to be talked over. Everytime he was talked over he immediately clamped up and he felt a lump form in his throat. Being the youngest in his family only lead to Lance being talked over constantly.

It wasn’t uncommon for Lance to stop telling a story because everyone started a different conversation. It wasn’t uncommon for Lance to never finish a thought because someone would constantly interrupt him.

Lance wasn’t a fighter so when this happened he would just clamp his mouth shut and listen to what the other person had to say, because it was obviously more important.

Lance found himself talking less and less around his parents, siblings, and classmates. Nobody ever commented on Lance’s new quietness so Lance had no reason to start talking again. Lance would go days without saying anything to anyone. He communicated through shrugs and nods.

Why should I talk, everyone is happier when I don’t.

-

Fast forward to the Garrison when Lance met his roommate Hunk. Hunk wasn’t loud but he wasn’t quiet either. Sometimes Lance didn’t even hear him enter the room while other days Lance would hear him hallways away.  He liked Hunk, Hunk never pressured him to talk, Hunk just kept him company throughout their days.

Hunk would ramble about projects he was working on and homework and Lance would listen quietly. It didn’t even dawn on Lance that he had never said anything to Hunk before in his life.

They were both in their room, Lance on his bed reading a book while Hunk was laying on the floor building something.

“Dang it, these wires all look the same, I can never tell them apart.” Hunk ran his hands through his hair in annoyance.

Lance looked at his distressed roommate and looked down at his book. “Why don’t you put colored tape around the different wires.” Lance’s voice slightly cracked due to the lack of use and Hunk screamed. Not like a small scream but like ‘help someone is getting stabbed scream.’

Lance jumped causing is book to fly across his bed and he stared at Hunk who was staring at Lance his hands over his mouth.

Lance swallowed around a small lump that was forming at the base of his throat. He inhaled “Sorry I didn’t mean to…scare you?” Lance wasn’t sure what he did wrong exactly.

Hunk blinked a few times and slowly removed his hands from his mouth. His breathing started to slow down as he continued to stare at Lance.

Lance started to shift where he sat. Why he is just staring at me? Lance was about to bolt out of the room but Hunk regained his bearings before he moved.

“I’m sorry for screaming! You just have never talked before and I thought you were mute or something. Then you just spoke and I got scared. Like I wasn’t expecting that at all.” Hunk inhaled until his lungs ached “Sorry I’m rambling.”

Lance smiled at his roommate “Hunk you ramble all the time, I’m used to it.”

Hunk started to laugh and before Lance knew it he was laughing with Hunk. They only stopped when they heard a knock on their door.

“Officer Davis, opened the door. We have a complaint of a noise disturbance.”

Hunk and Lance shared a look and started laughing and Hunk went to open the door.

-

Hunk and Lance became best friends within a week. They had shared everything with each other, and Hunk didn’t interrupt Lance once when he was talking. If he accidently did he would apologize immediately and beg Lance to continue what he was saying.

Lance started to love talking again.

-

The only time Lance would have trouble talking would be when he came back from a break. When Lance was around his family long enough he would clamp up again, but slowly Hunk would bring him back out of his shell.

-

Hunk could only do so much and sometimes it wasn’t enough. They had just saved a planet from the Galra and they were all meeting up with the leader.

Now Lance didn’t usually talk during diplomatic missions but he felt obligated to speak up when it concerned him. The leader was discussing how helpful the blue lion was and how it help save the planet.

“You must tell me Blue paladin, how does the ice work?” The leader placed his (hand?) tentacle on Lance’s shoulder.

“Well you see, Blue and I ha-”

“That’s interesting but like was it just the lion acting on their own?”

“Kinda, you see I have to put my bay-”

“So are you not needed to fly Blue? If she does all the work what do you do?”

“Well I have to fly he-”

“But they are magic lions, surely they can fly on their own.”

Lance opened his mouth to respond but slammed it shut before any words were formed. Then Lance did what he did best, he shrugged. That was all he did.

The leader looked at him a bit skeptical before nodding “So how does the ice get formed?”

Lance shrugged again. He kept his eyes directly on the leader and his lips sealed. Lance was nudged by Shiro, he didn’t care he wasn’t going to talk. He looked at the leader one more time before walking towards Blue and flew back to the castle.

-

Lance didn’t bounce back like Hunk prayed he would. It had been about 2 weeks since the last time he said anything. He just shrugged and nodded. Never even opening his mouth except to eat. The castle was quieter than any of them wanted it to be. Mealtimes were filled with force conversation and Lance scarfing down his food in order to leave.

Even during missions Lance wouldn’t say anything, Blue would send the other lions messages so everyone knew that things were going well but Lance never talked.

When they met new species Lance would stand in the background silently, just watching everyone.

Hunk tried his hardest. He would talk about things he knew Lance liked, but Lance would just smile and pat him on the back and walk away.

The team couldn’t get Lance to talk, and they tried. They did everything they could but Lance would just sit in silence. He didn’t even talk to Coran, and that broke the older man heart.

-

The paladins were hosting a party in the castle with about 7 species from different planets. They all worked together and received a huge win.

Everyone was talking and enjoying the party and Lance was standing by the wall sipping his drink. He watched a boy, around his age, walk towards him.

His arms and neck were covered in tattoos and he has pointy ears with piercing all over his body. His skin was a soft blue and his hair was a bright red. He smiled at Lance and stood by him.

The boy thanked Lance for saving his planet, and of course Lance caught onto his flirting techniques.

Lance laughed, like a real laugh. The first laugh in weeks maybe months. It echoed through the room and every paladin heard it. They attempted not to make it obvious but they were all listening to see if Lance would do anything more.

Lance, who was completely oblivious to what his teammates were doing, stuck his hand out to the boy. “The names Lance.”

Self-Projecting? Do I Know Her?

Hell yeah I was self-projecting.

I’m basically how I write Lance XD

I hope you like it!

Sorry it took so long!!

Thank you for this!

Btw give it up for my bisexual son ❤💜💙

This is all it takes...

I wanted to demonstrate just how easy it is to get an article written in a major publication if know the right person.

This isn’t even my job (anymore) lol.

So I went to the Brandi Carlile show at the Ryman the other night (long live badass rock girls who love girls) and she did a fun, off-the-fly cover of “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. I know a guy who works at Rolling Stone Country who loves Dolly Parton, so I posted about it on facebook and who was like “How cool!” and I said “You should write an article about this, since she told a great story about asking Dolly to cover a song on her new charity album that comes out next Friday.”

And voila.

Couple of things. It was not her first-ever shows at the Ryman. She’s played it several times. That was RS Country’s mistake. But I did describe it as a “gutsy” cover and told them it would be a great piece if they could link it back to the charity album.

I am not even a publicist.

That’s how easy it is to:

  • Get an article written with a broad angle you want out there
  • Have the publication make a mistake because they didn’t do their research

So imagine that in the context of One Direction & The Sun. Simon Jones’ actual job is to get articles written in publications about One Direction & Louis while SIMULTANEOUSLY preventing damaging articles from being printed about his clients.

Do you see where I’m going with this.

Some of the time, the publication doesn’t need a prompt to write an article. Sometimes it’s click-bait. Sometimes it’s a re-hash of another publication’s story.

But the exclusives the Sun gets come with “prompts” and set the tone of the article.

This is not something new. But it’s a reminder that the bullshit the usual suspects spew and have spewed for years all have the same talking points and tone that are consistently contradicted by the boys themselves on camera. I don’t know if Simon Jones is going to Dan Wootton and saying “We have a Louis story and here’s the angle we want” (to be fair, I’m pretty certain that’s what he does in most circumstances) or if he’s complicit through his silence and/or complete lack of management of the damaging stories (hot tip: he’s both an unscrupulous liar and a hack) but it’s clear he’s had countless opportunities to “punish” the Sun by giving exclusives to other publications but that never happens.

That’s because Simon is working with them on all fronts.

I’m Flirting With You | Jughead Jones

Description: After bonding one night in Pop’s you and Jughead become friends but he starts acting a little weird towards you.
Warnings: none, i believe.
Word Count: 1283
A/N: okay, this isn’t my best. my writing is off bc it’s been one weird week but this is a thing.

The fluorescent lights in Pop’s always somehow made you calm. Or maybe that was Pop himself. Either way, most nights you found yourself sitting in a booth at Pop’s, a milkshake and fries on the table in front of you and a book in your hands. It was a couple of hours of peace and quiet that you so very much needed with your hectic family at home. It wasn’t that things were bad at home - not at all. It was just that your family was very loud and big. You had two brothers and two sisters and sometimes it was hard to sit down and get lost with your own thoughts while you were at home. Although you had a room to yourself, it seemed that knocking was a forgotten thing. So, one day you’d found yourself walking aimlessly around your weird little town of Riverdale only to end up at the diner. You’d been there a few times before but never really been there enough to appreciate it.

So, after that night you discovered your new sanctuary, you started going every night. Pop would occasionally give you a free tray of fries which you were so thankful for. He was such a kind, gentle man that got along with everyone in town. If only everyone in town could be as amazing as Pop Tate. But, on one particular busy night, someone decided to slide into the opposite side of your booth, stealing one of your fries. It had been none other than Jughead Jones. You knew of him but you weren’t exactly the best of friends just a couple of classes together here and there so you were friendly but that was it.

That night you’d talked while he wrote and you read and it carried on every day since. It was safe to say you two were friends now although you’d started to notice weird things Jughead had started doing. He’d sit on your side of the booth, loosely throwing his arm over the back of it and sitting close to you, he’d laugh at all your lame jokes that he never used to laugh at and seemed to go out of his way to tell you jokes to make you laugh. It was weird but you shrugged it off. Maybe he was just trying to be more open and nicer to you like he was with his friends. Although, you’d never seen him be like that with anyone else.

Hiya! Would you mind doing a writing with either Genji or McCree when they have lazy day at home with their s/o? Like whichever one you choose they just have a nice sweet day with their s/o and maybe they cuddle and kiss em a bit? :0c Keep up the good work running this blog!!!!

((A/N - sorry for the break! 24 hours does not seem like enough hours in a day eugh))

Genji

Something soft stroked your cheek. You leaned into the touch, moaning softly. It travelled up the side of your face, combing through your hair. You opened one eye and saw sunlight flittering through the window. You promptly closed your eyelid, groaning and rolling over so you were facing away from the light. You heard a chuckle from above you. You peeked over your shoulder to see Genji sitting upright on the bed, leaning against a pillow with his hand still tangled in your locks.

“Come back. I was enjoying that.”

You mumbled incoherently into your pillow.

“Please?”

You sighed. You lay on your front with your head facing your boyfriend.

“Better?” You said, voice still slightly muffled from the awkward angle.

“Yes, thank you.”

You relaxed into his hand, which was now massaging your scalp. The touch travelled down to your nape, the heavenly feeling of your neck being massaged while your hair being played with was keeping you in a drowsy state. You managed to worm your hand out from underneath your body, curling it up and placing it by Genji’s hip, your fingers lightly drifting over his exposed skin.

“(Y/N).”

A grunt escaped your throat.

“Would you like some breakfast?”

You hummed in response. You had ended up falling asleep early last night, having to make Genji carry you from the sofa to the bed. However, falling asleep early also meant you missed out on dinner and you could feel your stomach slightly rumbling.

“Stay.” Your boyfriend commanded.

You weren’t in any position to say no. You were far too relaxed, stretching out like a lazy cat. The sun was warm on your bare skin not being covered by the duvet. You felt Genji climb out of bed and his little tapping all the way to the kitchen. He made noise mostly for you. Him being a ninja meant he had conditioned himself to not make noise, but after the one time you genuinely nearly shat yourself after he tried to surprise you he had made a promise to himself to make his whereabouts known to you.

Clanging came from the kitchen, no doubt the cupboard full of pots and pans was opened and it all came tumbling to the floor. You gently snorted to yourself at the thought. Genji belonged in the kitchen as much as a bull in a china shop. The two just clashed. It made you smile to think he was going to the effort to please you, though.

You dozed off into sleep, hearing a frustrated groan every now and then from the other room. Only moments seemed to pass and you were being woken by a rather enthusiastic Genji, holding a tray in one hand the other shaking your shoulder.

“Breakfast in bed.” He proudly announced.

You grinned at him. Eagerly sitting up, you looked at what he made for you. A glass of orange juice, a slice of toast with butter, a crispy rasher of bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs and two of the most juiciest sausages you had ever seen. There was also a second identical plate for him.

“Wow, I’m amazed.”
“You are welcome, (Y/N).”

You leaned over and pecked him on the cheek.

“Thank you, my love.”

You were genuinely surprised with how well Genji had cooked your food. He took your plate from you when you were finished and scuffed out to the kitchen.

You threw the covers off of you and decided to throw on something comfortable. It was a lazy day today; no work, no plans, no nothing. Just you and Genji to relax. Throwing on a baggy t-shirt and some underwear, you walked into the living room and plopped yourself down on the couch.

Genji came up behind and ruffled your hair before placing himself next to you. You lay down, head resting on his lap.

“What would you like to watch?” He asked, flicking on the television.
“Anything. Even if it’s that daytime telly crap.”
He looked down at you, amused. You shot up a smug grin before laughing to yourself.

You loved lazy days. Especially with Genji.

Jesse

You were flat on your back on the floor of yours and Jesse’s shared apartment, arms and legs spread out.

“Please, no more.” You begged, panting.

You were looking up at your boyfriend who was standing over you triumphantly, feet apart and hands on his hips.

“I can do this all day, sweetheart.”

You groaned. For the last half an hour or so you had been trying to escape your apartment. You had told Jesse there were just a few e-mails you had to send and then you’d be straight back. He, however, had other plans. Every time you tried to get up he would be all over you, digging his fingers into your ribs, armpits, thighs, where ever he could reach. You were incredibly ticklish, which was an absolute nightmare for you.

“I just need to run to my office and-”

You couldn’t even finish your sentence before he crouched down and had his large hands hovering over your dishevelled top.

“You done?” His eyebrows were raised, eyes daring you to say another word.
“Please?” You whined.

He grinned wolfishly, baring his teeth.
“Wrong answer, doll.”

He instantly wiggled his fingers on your ribs, making you scream while laughing. He was not relenting, you tried curling into a ball only to give him access to another area he could tickle you. Your breath became short, trying to whack his hands away and plead with your boyfriend at the same time. Only when he saw tears rolling down the side of your face did he take his hands away and sit back on his heels.

“It’s your day off, (Y/N). Work can wait.”

You brought a hand up to the corner of your eye to wipe away a tear.

“Okay. I’ll stop trying to leave.”
“You sure?”
Yes.”
“S'posed to be a lazy day, (Y/N).”

You sighed, slumping back into your original starfish position.

“Y'need t'learn how to switch off.”

Your eyebrows creased, frowning at the cowboy.

“Go sit on the couch ‘nd lemme look after ya.”

You lifted your hand slowly, scared to make any sudden movements which made Jesse chuckle. He took your hand and lifted you off the ground with ease. You stumbled into his arms, encasing you in a bear hug. Jesse smelt like coffee, tobacco and gunpowder. You took in a deep breath, associating him with what is now your home.

“You okay, doll?”

You nodded, not bothering to be vocal. It would have been muffled by his chest anyway. You let out a little cry as you realised his hug was a ploy to get you to the couch, your toes now only skimming the ground as Jesse waddled over. He gently placed you down and and pushed you, making you topple over. You huffed at him, crossing your arms.

He plopped himself next to you, wiggling around to get comfy. He flug his arm over your shoulder and brought you in close so you were laying on his chest, peppering kisses onto the top of your head.

“Now, stay with me. Don’t want you runnin’ off.”

You hummed, amused. Your hum turned into a mewl when he started scratching your head, your body becoming limp and relaxing into his embrace.

“There we go, sweetpea. Di'n’t I say I’d take care o’ ya?”

You kept silent, only letting out a reluctant, 'mmhm’ when he briefly took his hand away.

“Good.”

Jesse reached over and switched on the television with the remote, flicking through channels. It was for background noise more than anything, you halfway to going back to sleep because of how relaxed you were.

You hadn’t realised you had dozed off until you were being woken by a southern drawl. You buried your face into his stomach and wrapped your arms around his waist.

“Darlin’, I need to make us lunch.” He repeated, laughter behind his voice.

It was indeed a lazy day, one that you had needed for a while. The thing you loved about Jesse was that he could make you switch off from work. You loved him for it.

My Top 5 Captain Canary Moments

I’ve been thinking a lot about my favorite Captain Canary moments, sooo I decided to rank them, because why not?

5) The bar fight – It’s hard putting any of these moments at the bottom because I love them all so much. This is the scene in which I fell for Captain Canary. The challenge in her tone and expression with, “Wanna dance, Leonard?” The way he lingers over his words, telling her he’ll watch, and the intensity in his gaze as he follows through on that. The genuine, almost soft smile when she starts fighting and he looks at Mick like, “This woman is pretty awesome.” Seriously, I’ve watched the show just looking for genuine smiles out of him. He doesn’t have many. Leonard is intrigued and a bit enamored already, and Sara trusts him, enough to invite him to dance when she was clearly fine dancing alone, enough to let him hold her open drink, enough to stay out of the fight when she had it, enough to back her up when she needed it.

4) That’s not you anymore – Where do I even start with this one? I mean, okay. They’ve been bickering and bantering and using nicknames all episode, and he’s already been sort of working toward this, but when it comes down to the wire, “Sara, don’t do it.” His voice is rough, sincere, and he uses her name, her first name. I’m not saying it’s the first time he’s done it, but it’s definitely intentional here. He’s not talking to the assassin, the fighter, the White Canary. He’s talking to Sara, telling her something he believes, something he knows she needs to hear. “That’s not you anymore,” he says. She listens. This is the moment that made me finally create a Captain Canary blog and start writing.

3) The kiss – I’ve said some of this before, but it’s worth repeating. This kiss is something of a goodbye, something of apology. Each of them put as much as they can of themselves into it, given the circumstances. You can see it, in their eyes, their necks; this kiss is desperation followed and preceded by memorizing the moment they know will be their last together. Why isn’t it higher in my list? Well, it hurts, for one. It’s a goodbye, for another. The rest of these moments are beginnings, in their way, growing closer. This one’s the end, for now. Still, though, it’s a kiss, an emotional one at that, and I’m glad we got one.

2) Freezing – Tropes abound here, which is the first point in its favor. Sara and Leonard are trapped together and freezing to death. They’ve still got barriers between them, like they do with everyone, but they’re coming down. They talk about death, about beginnings, the people who matter to them. When it gets too cold to talk—sometime after Leonard gives Sara his jacket off-screen, I might add—Sara leans against him and pulls him close. It’s only comfort, emotional and physical, but Sara seeks it out, and Leonard allows it, and I’m a disaster okay?? They’re already getting to know each other, already growing close, but I think this moment goes a long way toward pulling down the walls they keep up between themselves and everyone else.

1) Me, and you, and me and you – I will NEVER be over this conversation, okay?? Never. Okay. So Leonard knows he’s messed up. He comes bringing cards and conversation, hoping maybe she needs either a distraction or to talk things through, because he could use one or both, but in this moment, questioning his life, even knowing he messed things up with her, Sara is the one he seeks out. He leads with an apology, Snart style. And then, okay, here’s part of why this conversation gets me so much; Leonard uses the flimsiest excuse to segue into talking about their potential future together. You know Leonard has to have regrets; hell, we saw him try to change his own past. But here, he ignores all those, instead using it as an excuse to turn the conversation. “It’s the things I didn’t do that keep me up at night.” His words that follow are innocent enough; it’s the tone and the expression that let Sara know he’s talking about a future together.

for me, and you, and me and you.

He’s considered their future, decided he wanted it, and intentionally sought out a chance to broach the idea with Sara. For someone with as many walls as Leonard Snart, someone who doesn’t do touchy-feely, to intentionally start a relationship talk? Hell. And on top of that, as upset and distracted as Sara is, she doesn’t say no. She says he’d better be one hell of a thief. She challenges him, says something she knows will encourage him to keep trying.

Both of them are interested in a future together, and after this conversation, they both know it. The timing sucked, and season two didn’t fix it, but you know what?

I still think about their future. Always will.

“You shouldn’t be down here.”

Loki tilted his head, mindful not to knock any of the lights with his antlers. He hated fixing them.

Clint hopped further into the workshop, wings spread menacingly, talons shining like obsidian in the dim light. “You shouldn’t be down here,” he repeated coldly. “Tony’s not here. It’s not allowed.”

“And yet you are here,” Loki pointed out idly, side-stepping a stool to lean down and examine a truly peculiar-looking device on the table.

“I saw you come down here. You need to leave,” Clint insisted, hopping after him. He let out an irritated sigh when the other monster swiveled to examine the three robots huddled fearfully in the corner. “Leave them alone! You’re scaring them!”

Loki ignored him, instead reaching out to tap one blunt finger to the closest robot’s claw. It flinched away from him and beeped, and then the other two robots let out shrill screeches and lunged at him with their claws threateningly. One threw a fire extinguisher at him.

Loki drew his hand back, not afraid, but concerned the little creatures might rush him anyway. “I did not know humans could still make these.”

Clint paused, talons curling into the floor. “…Make what?”

“Golems,” Loki replied, taking another step back when the clunkiest of the bunch lunged at him again. “The last I had heard of was in Prague, called Yossele. That was… five centuries ago? I had thought the art had been lost.”

Clint hopped over, wings spread awkwardly. He hated looking so much like a bird in front of this guy. “Yeah? I heard Tony made his first one when he was fourteen.” He couldn’t help his crest rising proudly when the other monster looked reluctantly impressed. “Isn’t that right, Dum-E?”

The clunkiest robot beeped and spun in a circle.

Loki covered his mouth with his hand to hide an amused smile. He did not remember Yossele being so rambunctious. Then again, it had been quite busy protecting its Jewish community at the time. “I would have never been able to imagine a metal golem.”

“Yeah,” Clint murmured. “Tony is a clever human. He even made a golem without a body.”

“You mean The Voice, Jarvis?” Loki asked, turning to look at him. “He is not a demon whom Tony has wrested control over?”

Clint shook his head slowly, frowning. “No. I remember when he was creating him at first, he would spend hours at his computer. The closer he got to finishing, the more wild he looked. When Jarvis finally spoke, Tony had been awake for several days. And then he burst into tears.”

“Interesting,” Loki admitted, and finally turned away from the robots. He did not remember how long it took to create Yossele, but he did remember Judah Loew ben Bezale celebrating when the golem protected them. “Is crying Anthony’s typical manner of celebration?”

“Man, he’d been awake for several days. Anyone would cry after years of hard work paid off,” Clint scoffed. “Now come on. We’re not supposed to be down here without permission ever since Bucky accidentally set himself on fire. With the exception of Steve because his scales protect him.”

Loki pretended that didn’t worry him and followed the other monster out of the workshop.

Bucky and Steve were morose.

“Unbecoming,” Natasha said.

Loki did not snort. He wanted to. “Quite.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Steve ordered without his usual heat. He slithered off the couch and onto the floor. “Why does he have to leeeeave?”

“Tony’s very important,” Bucky replied, trying to sound proud, but mostly sounding petulant. “The humans need his time.”

“Humans can go blow!” Steve snapped, then slithered under the couch.

Loki leaned toward Natasha, frowning.

“Yeah, I have no idea. Basically he wants humans to just leave Tony alone because they’re hogging him.”

“Oh,” Loki said, and only vaguely understood. “Where is Anthony?”

Natasha shrugged. “Showing off some new bomb. The humans are excited about it.”

“Anthony makes… bombs?”

“Weapons,” she amended. “Of all sorts. It would be disappointing except for the way he gushes about keeping America’s troops safe.I don’t understand humans and their wars, but I can respect that Tony wants to keep people safe.”

Loki frowned thoughtfully. “With the golems he created, I had expected him to be purely a creator. Not a destroyer as well.”

Natasha turned to stare at him, then assumed when he said ‘golems’ that he meant Tony’s robots. “Tony’s a human,” she said after a moment. “They’ve always created and destroyed. Holding Tony to a different standard simply because he is more brilliant than other humans would be unfair.”

“Mm,” Loki hummed, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Anthony was an interesting human, at least. The creatures were so vapid these days, it was refreshing to find one that was different. He could not say whether he liked or disliked the boy, but he was interested to see what more he could create.

“Guys!” Bruce exclaimed, bursting into the living room. “Guys!

Loki stepped back further into the shadows. He did not fear Bruce. But the creature he turned into… that creature was a terrifying mixture of Old and new, a creature of rage and instinct. He stayed out of its way as much as possible.

Steve slithered out from under the couch in concern, and Bucky unfolded from being curled up on top of one of Tony’s old sweaters. Clint hopped around to face the room instead of glaring outside. Natasha took a step forward, face set into a serious mask to hide the trepidation the tone Bruce had taken had caused.

“I was listening–I was listening to the radio,” Bruce panted, clutching his chest. His eyes flickered green and brown. “To hear what Tony–To keep at least an ear on him-! His convoy was attacked! He–everyone’s dead–”

It felt as if the room had dropped several degrees.

Bruce clutched the doorway, making an annoyed sound when he crushed it in his palm, wood splintering everywhere. “Not–Not Tony. But the soldiers he was with–they, they’re all dead. Tony–they took Tony.”

Clint let out a horrified screech.

“What do we do?” Bucky asked quickly, standing. “Bruce, what do we do?”

“All we know is that he’s in Afghanistan,” Bruce admitted, the green in his eyes staying longer, visibly struggling to keep to this form. “And there’s–there’s mountains and caves. It would take so long to find him–who knows what condition he’d be in by the time we got there.”

Steve writhed anxiously for a few seconds, then steeled himself. “We have to do something. We can’t just–just leave him out there!”

“The people there are very religious, or very superstitious,” Natasha pointed out. “We’re monsters. They’ll shoot first and ask questions later. We won’t be any good to Tony dead.”

Clint crushed the windowsill in his talons angrily. “We won’t be any good to Tony sitting on our asses, either!”

Bruce let out a wounded sound before he roared, and suddenly the Hulk was there instead, destroying the rest of the doorway, reaching out to grab one of the couches and flinging it across the room.

“Br–Hulk!” Steve exclaimed helplessly. “No! We need–we can’t just destroy things until we figure something out-!”

Loki stepped forward, scowling, gold threads wrapping around the Hulks arms before he could throw anything or anyone else. “This is not conducive to a rescue, creature.

The Hulk roared, and tugged, and his hooves skidded across the floor in the effort to hold the other monster tight in the gold threads

“You will not threaten me,” Loki said, even though he felt frightened, even though this monster of Old and new was tugging his magic around like so much paper. “You will not threaten me while a Creator needs you to stay calm. You are doing him no service destroying his things.”

Hulk roared again, swinging around, and Loki nearly–nearly–yelped as his hooves skidded across the floor again, losing his balance.

Clint caught him by the antlers with a screech, holding him upright. “Don’t let him go!”

Loki had no intention of doing so, because he was quite certain that the Hulk would turn his aggression on him instead. Still, he couldn’t help his surprise when Steve and Natasha both ran at and then leapt upon the monster.

Steve’s tail constricted around the Hulk’s arms, holding them in place, and Natasha skittered as quickly as she could, wrapping her silk around him, trying to keep him pinned. Bucky scrambled over to press his back against Loki’s front, his paw pads much more suited to the wooden floor than the Old monster’s hooves.

The Hulk continued to roar angrily, struggling, but with the combined force of Loki’s magic and Natasha’s silk, they eventually subdued him. Loki didn’t relax until the other monster stopped roaring, and still kept a thread of magic wrapped around him just in case.

“…Let us never do that again,” Loki suggested, and the other four monsters nodded tiredly.

“What are we going to do?” Natasha asked softly, and it was… most concerning, to see how her shoulders hunched and the way she twisted her fingers in fear. “There are so many nooks and crannies in the desert where he could be. I–I’m not suited for the desert, really. I… could manage perhaps. But I would definitely be out of place.”

Bucky sat down on the floor, looking forlorn. “It would be too hot for me with my fur, wouldn’t it? And the sands would blow around so much–I wouldn’t find a scent anyway.”

“I could?” Steve offered, but then his face crumpled. “I’m no tracker, though. I’d survive and then have nothing to show for it. It’s no use, me going, if I have no idea where he’d be.”

“And it’s not like I could help you with that,” Clint admitted bitterly, roosting on Loki’s antlers. “If they have him in a cave, I’d have no idea.”

Loki opened his mouth to tell him to get off, but the other monster wasn’t heavy, and he was… quite tired after that struggle. “…I know someone who could help.”

“Will they eat him?” Steve asked immediately.

Loki gaped at him, appalled.

“I was going to eat him the first time we met,” Natasha explained.

“…Well,” Loki said.

“Tony bribed me with soup.”

“WELL.”

“So will they eat him, or not?” Bucky asked, scowling. “Because if there’s a chance they’ll eat him, we decline. Strenuously.”

“He will not eat Anthony,” Loki sighed, and allowed himself the luxury of rolling his eyes, hard. “…Admittedly, he has not had much interaction with present-day humans, howev–”

Clint squawked. “You wanna send one of your kind after him!? They’re totally gonna eat him!”

“He will not!” Loki snapped, and then scolded himself, fuming, for sounding like a child. “This is his only chance. We can’t just let him gallivant all over looking for Anthony,” he added, motioning at the Hulk.

The monsters grumbled angrily, but truly, their hands were tied. There was no telling if Jim had been killed or injured when the convoy was attacked, so Tony could very well be all alone out there. All alone, and possibly injured, and maybe wondering if someone could come help him, like they’d done before.

They couldn’t just leave him out there. So they agreed.

Tony shivered. He could hear thunder rumbling in the distance. “You get many storms out here?”

Yinsen hummed thoughtfully as he stared down at the backgammon board. “Depends on the season, really.”

Thunder rumbled again. Tony kind of wished he was closer to the entrance of the cave, so he could see the lightning and count to see how close the storm was.

Yinsen lifted his head, frowning. “…It’s not the season, though.”

Tony covered his ears as thunder suddenly crashed… in the cave? The Ten Rings were yelling, and shooting, but the thunder came again, only… only it sounded an awful lot like roaring.

Tony yelped when the cave lit up, electricity crackling over the walls. Yinsen was yelling something, clutching at him, dragging him toward the back of the cave. Tony turned and choked back a scream when he saw the hulking figure there, one of his captors crushed under a single, massive paw.

Killian hardly gets any sleep that night, and it’s not for a lack of trying. The whole night feels like a teasing game of hide and seek, and all he wants to do is find a full night’s rest without feeling like he’s waking up every couple of hours. But sleep continually slips out of his grasp and he’s left alternating between tossing and turning, or staring through the darkness up at his ceiling.

He knows where his restlessness comes from, and it’s a complicated layer of things, but when stripped down and left bare it really all comes down to one simple word.

Could you maybe write middle school Crutchie getting bullied and Jack finding out?

“Too bad you wouldn’t even be able to run away from the police that would pull you over while you’re walking because you’re going way under the speed limit!”

“Yeah, my 90 year old grandma can move faster than you and neither of her legs work.”

“You shouldn’t even be allowed in school. The way your leg is twisted backwards is distracting me from getting an education. It’s too disgusting to look at.”

Crutchie tried to ignore the three voices that continued to taunt him. It was hard though, since he had heard insults like that every day since he came to the new school.

“Hey! Why don’t you just leave him alone?” A new voice asked. “He didn’t do nothing wrong. Just get outa here before I tell Mrs. Larken the things you’ve been saying. And don’t think I wouldn’t.”

Crutchie opened his eyes to look at who said that, look at who was defending him. It was a boy who he had seen in a few of his classes, what was his name? John? Jordan? Crutchie couldn’t remember for the life of him, but he did know that this boy never shut up. As was the case now.

After continuing to threaten the 8th graders, they finally left, mumbling about how he wasn’t worth it. The boy bent down so he was at Crutchie’s eye level.

“Don’t worry. Those guys aren’t gonna pick on you no more. Are you okay?” He was extremely soft spoken now, which was weird, because he only knew this kid to be loud and daring.

Even so, Crutchie didn’t look up at his defender, and studied his shoes.

“Charlie?”

Crutchie’s eyes widened and he looked up. “You know my name?”

Jack’s face turned red. “Oh, well… you’re in a few of my classes… and… so I just…” he trailed off, a little embarrassed.

“Why did you help me? You should be making fun of me too.”

“Why would I make fun of you? That wouldn’t be very nice.” Jack sat down on the floor next to Crutchie.

“Everyone else does.”

“Well, I’m not everyone else.”

Crutchie looked up. “Who are you then?”

“Jack Kelly.”

“Jack Kelly…” Crutchie whispered, his cheeks beginning to burn red. “My hero, huh?”

Jack also felt his cheeks heat up, but he kept his composure. “I wouldn’t say hero. I’m just trying to help a pal out, huh?”

“Hey, Jack?”

“Yeah?”

“Just so you know; I don’t need rescuing. I’m just fine on my own.”

“But doesn’t it bug you?” Jack asked, concerned.

“It used to, but it doesn’t bother me anymore.”

“Anymore? How long have those jerks been picking on you?”

Crutchie shrugged. “Not sure. Since I moved here I guess.”

“You’ve lived here for almost a whole year! That’s not right!”

Crutchie shrugged, and subconsciously moved closer to Jack when another group of his bullies walked by. When he realized he did, his face turned red. He didn’t need someone looking out for him.

But it did feel nice knowing someone was.

“Well I don’t like that.” Jack continued, noticing the movement and followed Crutchie’s gaze to the boys standing across the hall. He instinctively reached out and put his hand on top of Crutchie’s.

Crutchie was a little surprised, but he didn’t pull away.

“People shouldn’t pick on you.” Jack said, protectively.

“And why do you care?” Crutchie looked up at Jack, who considered the question.

“I guess I care because no one deserves to be treated like that.”

“I do.”

“Why?”

“Because… I’m not meant for anything.”

“Charlie, You’re meant for so much!” Jack squeezed his hand reassuringly. “You’re so smart, super nice, and you always are smiling! I never would have guessed those guys were being so rude to you.”

“What about my leg though? It’s a gimp and my parents can’t afford a prosthetic so it might always be like this. How am I supposed to accomplish anything with it?”

“By being you.” Was all Jack could think of replying. The bell to signal the end of lunch sounded, and Jack stood up, and helped Crutchie stand up as well.

“Jack?” Crutchie asked once balanced. The two still hadn’t let go of each other’s hand.

“Yeah?”

“Call me Crutchie, alright?”

“Why?” Jack’s eyebrows furrowed.

“Because. That’s what my friends called me back in New Jersey before I moved here. I want my friend here to call me it too.”

“I’m your friend?” Jack beamed.

“Yeah.” Crutchie grinned at how happy Jack looked. “You can be my best friend if you want to be. It’s still an open position.”

“I can?”

Crutchie squeezed his hand as the last bell rang. “Yeah. You can.”

“So were best friends now?”

“Yes, Jack. We’re best friends.” Crutchie confirmed with a beaming smile as well.

And best friends they stayed.

A/N: Long fics might be turning into my new aesthetic. I’m sorry.

You never truly believed in love at first sight ― there was no reason to. The very idea seemed far too preposterous to be taken seriously, too ludicrous to exist outside of dreamy movies or forgotten fairy tales. How could two strangers cultivate such deep, mesmerizing emotion in the mere seconds they held a glance? How was it possible for them to simply know of their fate in the short amount of time they encountered each other? ― No; there were no soulmates, no predestined encounters. At least not for you. For you, there was only the faint ghost of a broken heart, the haunting of crumbled expectations; and the strong, determined promise to never fool yourself into another failed attempt at romance.

When you first saw him, however, you felt like the cosmos had morphed into static.

Let’s talk for a bit, because I’ve known about this for a while and I think now’s a good time to explain how I feel about using music not originally written for OC’s. This might be a lengthy read, because it’s personal. This vid was one of the first to use Tokyovania as Ink Sans’ theme.

I absolutely love when music can be associated with a character. I think it’s magical when a track makes you think of something you love or enjoy, and I love seeing messages or comments that I track I wrote would fit someone’s OC, because it feels special. Originally, this video was meant to be a tribute, with my track as the proposed theme, and I didn’t worry about it. After all, I didn’t write Tokyovania for Ink Sans, I wrote it for personal reasons, and I was sure most would understand that.

After a few months, it started to catch on for some reason that this indeed was written for him. A few other tribute vids were posted, and my name was nowhere to been seen as the artist of the track. On some videos, the name was also changed to Inklovania. The “Tokyo” was just erased, on a song containing the melody of “Tokyo Teddy Bear”, an incredibly special track I adored in 2014-2015.

Back then I was in high school. It was me against the world, and I had two friends. Things became rough around September in 2015, and I’ll keep the events hidden because they’re not something I need a reminder of. By December I was alone, and I had nowhere to turn but to music. I walled myself off and focused on composing, and being quietly alone all the time eventually led to the idea of Undertronic.

It was around this time that I decided to compose a remix of Tokyo Teddy Bear, as it’s a song I associate with wishing I could be anywhere else when things aren’t great. Seeing as I was also remixing Undertale at the time, I thought I’d combine it with another track, as a particular character was also in the same situation as I was, in terms of emotion.

In short, it was a special little remix to me and it would stay that way until Ink Sans became involved. Like I mentioned, I love when others use my music for OC’s, but I started to realize there was something wrong when I was accused of stealing this theme from Ink Sans, that it solely belonged to him, that I didn’t write it and I was a terrible person.

And the list goes on and was almost constant. To many, I’ve been disregarded as the artist of the track because “It doesn’t matter who wrote it,” and nothing hurts more to a musical artist than having a personal song be taken, even accidentally, from you and it suddenly becomes something else. The meaning behind the song no longer matters, and no matter what I do, this song will always be known as his theme.

It feels like a inconceivable back-stab knowing that literally millions believe this is his theme. I don’t even want to know how many would believe I stole the track from an OC, as if an actual artist doesn’t exist and the track magically created itself. Months went by, then a year went by, and I was very bitter about this track and the accusations I kept receiving. Finally I decided to write a response, and this response was “Tokyovania Control.”

I wrote in the description that I didn’t like the old Tokyovania. This is only partially true. I loved it for what it represented to me, I hated it for how I was being treated because of it.

If you may have noticed, I included new lyrics for Tokyovania Control. It was a slightly hidden, but direct message to how I felt, and it started at 0:53. Breakdown of the meaning is in the brackets.

How’d I get this feeling?  [How’d it come to this?]
I am running from this beauty,  [I am running from Tokyovania.]
Misunderstood or  [It’s been misunderstood what the track is about.]
Whom it’s made for?  [Who was the track made for? Even I’m not sure now.]
There’s no purpose,  [The song has lost its original meaning.]
Words are worthless.  [Explaining/arguing won’t do anything.]
Well, it’s still charming.  [I still adore the track though. It was special to me.]
I’d say “Sorry.”  [Sorry, it was my mistake to let harsh words harm me.]
“My mistake to let it harm me.”
“Pardon my writing.”  [Pardon my music, I’m sorry I got in your way, I should be thankful that this track is loved right? Indeed I am selfish for believing my name should be next to Tokyovania.]
Though it hurts, it still sounds special taken from me,
“Heh, oh well.”  [Though it hurts, Tokyovania still sounds special taken from me. There’s nothing I can do now, so oh well.]

It was hidden well, and I didn’t expect anyone to catch on. And I was right, no one figured out why these lyrics were added or what they meant.

So no, I still don’t mind when a track I write is used for an OC’s theme. I only mind when I become non-existent as the producer, because “Who cares who wrote it, just enjoy the music.” I also mind when I am repeatedly told my work doesn’t belong to me, and I’m a horrible person for stealing a theme that belongs to an OC.

It’s one of the reasons I tend to include signature melodies in my music now. I don’t want to be forgotten or disassociated with my work. I don’t want to be told I don’t deserve to be the artist. Is it annoying? To some it is, but it’s a hell of a lot better than going through another Tokyovania situation. Having a track recognized by millions as an OC’s theme scares me much more than having someone simply steal the track, and nothing is worse to a musician than being repeatedly told my work doesn’t belong to me anymore, it belongs to an OC, and I’m scum for thinking otherwise.

I suppose what I’m trying to say, is be careful when you decide to pick songs to represent OC’s or AU’s. You may think no harm will be done, but it’s impossible to tell if something will take off. I don’t think this has ever been discussed before. I haven’t seen any musicians write about this, or share their thoughts. But I am friends with many of the Undertale remixers, and it’s sad to see that this has also been happening to one of my best friends Kamex with his “Your Best Friend” remix:

His music is gorgeous. He’s so kind & doesn’t deserve to be treated this way. If the remix is titled “Undertale Remix”, that does not mean it is an AU Remix. It is a remix for Undertale. But because this theme was used in an AU theme compilation video, the track apparently belongs to Underfresh. Again, no artist apparently exists and track magically created itself. Even worse, he feels he needs to prove it, so far as to say he has the project files if he needs to show it. To some, he’s not even respected as the producer. If you understand how I feel with Tokyovania, you can imagine how he feels as well.

Even Inktale’s creator recognizes Tokyovania as a theme for Ink, though it’s probably accidental.

Which makes me feel even more guilty, because I hate bringing people down. And knowing this wasn’t written for the AU will probably be a disappointing let-down.

So that’s about it, I thought I might as well share my thoughts, now that it’s almost been a year since this has been going on.

On another note, I’ve been working on something for Dusttale and Outertale. The Dusttale track will probably be the next vid, I dunno.

[Edit: I took a look to see if there were any comments marked as held for review, and the first one I find is-]

[The word choice gets more colorful in there.]

  • encourages rumors that he may be an actual demon (i mean im sure matthias wanted to exorcise the demjin at one point tbh)

  • he’s a big softie for inej
  • honestly he acts like he doesn’t care but he would probably die for inej, nina and jesper

Whenever an uncomplicated task arises, people say it’s as easy to accomplish as breathing. The adage always made perfect sense to you whenever you heard it. Breathing is second nature. It can be done without having to think twice and, sometimes, it feels like certain tasks are the same way.

Today, that’s not the case. Standing here across from Bucky for the first time in weeks, you find that breathing is anything but easy. The air was knocked out of your lungs as soon as you stumbled upon the note he wrote on the canvas and you haven’t yet recovered. You have to keep reminding yourself to breathe, just breathe. But it’s hard. How are you supposed to remember to inhale and exhale in a moment like this?

“Are you going to say something?” You press, once the silence of the room becomes too unbearable. Your fingers curl tightly around the canvas as you wait for Bucky to speak. “Anything?”

Sometime in the future...

…when Dex realizes he’s not poor anymore.

“can we get a headboard, too?”

Dex hated that voice. It was a voice he hadn’t heard come out of his mouth in a long time, since before him and Nursey got married, before they graduated, before he started seeing a therapist. It was a voice that said, ’a no would break me’ underneath the real words of his question.

It was how he used to ask for hugs, and how he asked, three months into their fuck-buddy relationship, for Nusey to please stay the night, just once, nobody ever stays.

Nursey gave him a long, appraising look, but Dex knew he wouldn’t ask why, all of a sudden, Dex sounded so unsure of himself. Just like Dex knew, eventually, he’d tell Nursey why something so silly as a headboard was so important to him.

He gave a small smile instead, kissed Dex’s cheek, and said, “That’s chill.”

They got out of their truck, a purchase that Nursey made without Dex because he knew his husband could never justify the price to himself, even though they could afford it a hundred times over. Between Dex’s NHL salary and Nursey and Lardo’s line of children’s books, there wasn’t really anything they couldn’t afford.

Which is why Dex hated how small and broken his voice sounded when he asked if they could buy a headboard.

With the new contract Dex signed, finally featuring a no trade clause, they decided to buy a house. Nursey went all out; he spent weeks touring places, picking out furniture, and giving Dex the silent treatment (apparently ‘whatever you want’ isn’t the right answer). The only thing left was a new mattress.

They saved it specifically for a week when Dex didn’t have any scheduling conflicts. He tried to tell Nursey that it was fine, he could go ahead and buy one without Dex there, but he refused, insisting that a mattress was an individual experience, both of them had to agree.

They both knew that, in the end, Dex wouldn’t have an opinion. A bed was a bed to him, and any bed was better than no bed. It felt nice to have a full day with his husband, though.

They stood in front of a huge mattress store, and for some reason, Dex felt uncertain. There was something about this, buying a bed, that made everything real to him. He was an adult. He was well off financially. And he was about to walk into a store hand in hand with his husband. And he was happy.

He wasn’t the angry kid from Maine, anymore.

A saleswoman nearly a foot shorter than the couple (call me Cici!) dragged them all over the store, practically pushing them down on mattresses and asking about their firmness. She asked about hteir opinon on memory foam versus tempurpedic, about fabrics and springs and coils and all sorts of questions Nursey has answers for that Dex can’t make heads or tails of.

He zones out a bit, but jumps back into the conversation when the topic of temperature comes up (so, are you two warm blooded or do you use a lot of blankets at night?). He had no idea that they made some mattresses cooler than others, but yes they wanted to try those out, because his husband is a furnace and the three stupid cats Nursey snuck home were like little fuzzy ovens.

So, they go to the other side of the store and try out hybrids (of what, Dex really couldn’t say). Without even trying it out, Nursey pointed at one of the set-ups and declared, “it’s going to be this one.” Dex had to admit that it was pretty comfortable. He didn’t feel like he was sinking into the mattress, which was nice.

Nursey clamored on top, cuddling into Dex’s side with a smug grin. “Told you it was this one.”

Still grinning, Nursey asked Cici, “Can you show us some headboard options?”

There was an entire room of them. Bed frames and headboards and footboards. Big quilted ones that Dex thought would go great in his baby sister’s princess room, studded leather ones, wrought iron frames that looked a little too bondage for Dex’s comfort.

Dex wasn’t sure what his face was doing, but  Cici told them quietly that she would give them a few minutes to look around, even though she had been attached at to their side for the hour they had been in the store.

They wandered around, looking at all the choices. Dex knew he held Nursey’s hand a little too hard, but Nursey didn’t say anything. He let Dex take the lead, inputting his opinion but never tryng to influence Dex, never pushing him to talk about it.

They made two circuits of the room before stopping (for the second time) in front of a simple padded headboard. It wasn’t anything fancy, just smooth, cream colored fabric. Dex ran a finger over the display. It was softer than it looked.

“I don’t understand headboards. Or footboards. They’re totally pointless.”

In the past, that may have been an invitation for Nursey to chirp Dex, to ask what the hell they were doing buying one if Dex thought it was pointless. But after so many years together, Nursey knew Dex needed to talk it out, not have a conversation.

“Did you know that before I went to Samwell, I never slept in a real bed?”

“I didn’t, babe.”

Dex never took his eyes off the headboard. “For a while I had a matress thrown on the floor in me and Adam’s room, but then I gave it to Hannah and I started sleeping on some sleeping bags on the floor. I told myself it was like camping. Even when I imagined my house, I never imagined a having a real bed. What’s the piont of buying something that’s totally pointless? It’s just a waste of money.”

Nursey ran a warm hand up and down Dex’s back. Dex rarely talked about his childhood. It was one of the only things they still faught about sometimes: Nursey taking their money for granted and Dex not being able to accept that he can spend money when he wants to.

“But we can buy this. We can buy something that’s totally pointless, just because I want it.”

It wouldn’t match the room, even a little bit. The whole house was stark greys and bright whites, accents of bright colors. The cream fabric would stick out like a sore thumb. It was meant for a softer house. There was something about it that Dex like, though. He couldn’t put his finger on what, exactly, but he loved it.

“What do you think?”

Nursey didn’t bother to look away from Dex when he answered. “I think it’s great, babe. It’ll look good in the bedroom.”

Dex gave him a hard look. “really.”

“Okay, no. but if you like it, then I couldn’t care less.”

And just like that, they bought it. And later that night, in their brand new bed, in their house (their house, not a house they were renting), Dex slept better than he could ever remember sleeping.
