dj ing

Just read the completed translated version of the YOI bonus manga (WHICH Y'ALL CAN READ HERE) and realized how canonically close Yuri and Otabek truly are, despite only being friends for 2-3 days.

- Yuri “breaking up” with Otabek for not allowing him into the club but realizes only Beka is willing to put up with his complaint and listens to him bitch so that’s not an option.

- Yuri going to several clubs to find Beka (even though he got kicked out) and was spotted by Emil, Sara, Mila & Miche gang and even asking them if they’ve seen Beka.

- Yuri telling Mila off that Beka is his friend and will not leave him alone. And also that Beka could just say it straight to his face if he is pissed off at him.

- Will not skate the exhibition if he couldn’t find Beka and talk to him.

- Exchange numbers with fellow skaters (!!!) even though it was completely out of character for him.

- GETTING ALL SHY WHEN CALLING AND STARTING A CONVO WITH LEO!!!! (all this just to find Beka?!)

- Beka thinking of how Yuri’s probably pissed at him even while dj-ing.

- Yuri baring his back and showing off the clothes he bought when they went shopping together in Barcelona (!!!).

- Beka noticing AND having “eye-contact” convos with Yuri. Followed by a deadly smirk and giving Yuri what he wants: a banging song.

- Yuri telling Beka everything, needing his help for his exhibition, his passion, insecurities, wanting to skate something that he truly loves. (also sitting so close to each other and looking like absolute boyfriends having a date at a beach)

- Beka agreeing and decides to help Yuri with his exhibition that would surprise everyone, “the Yuri that he most wants to see”.

- Yuri SPONTANEOUSLY demanding asking Beka to be on the ice with him for his exhibition after the pair skate surprise from victuuri. (Forehead touches and all – apparently that’s how bros ask a friend for a favour)

The wildest thing is that these are all official.

some new info about the final yoi bluray/dvd:

sayokan recommends reading the extra manga by kubo (that comes with preordering all 6 volumes from same store) before watching yurio’s exhibition clip.

yurio’s original exhibition program was different and choreographed by lilia. he changed it after GPF FS bc he was frustrated at his FS shortcomings and his ballet style exhibition would only remind everyone of it, so he redid everything in one evening and this was inspired by real life figure skater misha ge.

after GPF but before the exhibition, yurio went to a rock club where otabek was dj-ing and otabek didn’t want to let him go because he was underage but yurio of course went in anyway.

after yurio saw otabek dj-ing he decided to ask otabek to choose a new song for his last minute exhibition program.

been confirmed that otabek did not only pick the song, but will play a role in yurio’s exhibition skate and it’s gonna be good.

yurio’s FS in the final episode will have a small and important change so keep your eyes open.

all new info courtesy of @soukatsu_ on twitter.

First Otabek Altin was some trendy great skater with a cool attitude.

Then it turns out he’s also a tough motorcycle dude with a soft side.

Then it turns out he’s also a street boy DJ-ing at night.

THEN HE’S ALSO THIS CLASSY POSH LOOKING GENT WHO PROBABLY READS DOSTOEVSKY AND LISTENS TO TCHAIKOVSKY AT HOME

WHAT MORE?

HOW MUCH MORE WILL WE RAISE THE BAR?

The possibility of Otayuri becoming canon

So in this post-Welcome to the Madness daze and with the information that has been released today, I would like to do some speculation about the character dynamic between Yurio and Otabek and the possible implications for this ship to become canon. I have already written a bit about this in a comment to another post here, but I would like to elaborate.

Again, this is just me throwing around ideas, with a good dose of wishful thinking.

-          Otabek enters the story quite late as a character. He is there from the beginning but we only get to see him interact with the others from episode 10 onwards. The focal point becomes what his relation is to Yuri. He whisks him away on his motorcycle, takes him to one of the most beautiful vistas in the city and then casually drops how he has admired him for the past five years. Then he offers Yuri his friendship, which has apparently never occurred in Yuri’s life before, they go for a coffee and Mari is stunned to see Yuri normally interact with another human being for a change. It’s up to you to ignore any fond gazes during this scene. What’s worth mentioning is that Yuri seems kind of perplexed by this whole thing. The “eyes of a soldier” line gets to him, because it is probably the first time someone sees him for who he wants to be.

O my god.
BLESS THIS TEEN WHO CHOREOGRAPHED AN ENTIRE PROGRAM IN ONE DAY.

And pray for the poor soul of Yakov who has an entire team of extra Russian skaters.
Imagine their conversation.

Yakov: “Yura you have done a great job, now there is only the exhib-”

Yurio: “I’m going to choreograph an entire exhibition in one day because I’ve seen my new buddy DJ-ing in a Barcelona club, and you can’t stop me. *thumb up in Otabek’s direction*”

Okay but imagine this

Victor is slow dancing with Yuuri at this year’s Grand Prix banquet. Yurio comments on how boring the music is, and Otabek mentions how he’s into DJ-ing himself. Yurio, with stars in his eyes, then begs Otabek to hijack the DJ booth so he can have a breakdancing rematch with Yuuri. And of course, Otabek just can’t refuse those adorable eyes. So when the DJ steps away for a second, he makes his way over and starts laying down an upbeat track of his own. Everyone on the dance floor switches it up and breakdances. Yurio grins proudly and searches for the Victuuri pair, deciding on how he’s gonna annihilate the Katsudon tonight. But what does he find? The lovebirds still have their arms around each other, smiling happily and slow dancing, as if nothing has changed.

'Gotham' Star Chris Chalk Marries Kimberley Dalton Mitchell

Congratulations! Gotham star Chris Chalk married his fiancée, Kimberley Dalton Mitchell, in a romantic wedding ceremony on Saturday, April 22, the newlyweds confirm exclusively to Us Weekly.

The happy couple, who got engaged last September, exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family members at the North Carolina Arboretum in Chalk’s hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. The groom looked dapper in a white suit jacket, a white button-down shirt, a white bow tie and black pants, while his bride stunned in a lace gown and wore Jennifer Behr circlets in her hair.

Underground star Alano Miller and She’s Gotta Have It actress DeWanda Wise, who first introduced the duo, served as the best man and maid of honor, respectively.

Chalk, Mitchell and their 135 guests headed to the reception at Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville via traditional yellow school buses. “I think there’s something about a school bus that immediately humbles you. It’s fun,” Chalk tells Us. Mitchell adds, “We didn’t want people driving up the mountain after [drinking champagne at the ceremony].”

For the wedding, the newlyweds asked their guests to dress their sexiest. “Our actual instruction was, ‘Dress how you would dress if you knew you were going to make out with somebody that night,’” the 12 Years a Slave actor tells Us, quipping that he and Mitchell “had to dial it back for some people.”

During the reception, the pair and their friends danced to a mix of their favorite '90s R&B songs and today’s biggest hits. “We told our DJ, 'Pretend you’re DJ-ing for the club,’” Mitchell says. “That’s what we want. Just trying to throw the ultimate dance party.”

As for the food? Guests enjoyed shrimp and grits, duck confit, salmon, steak and a waffle and bacon bar, among other delicious treats.

Snapshots [Chriseva/Post 4.10/Future Fic]

Dedicated to all the Chriseva fans left hurt, angry and disappointed by the finale. I wrote this as something therapeutic for myself to try and get over my sadness even though I didn’t think I could ever bring myself to read or write another Chriseva fic again.

May we all stick together and bring each other up in this time sadness. I love you guys. The Chriseva fans have been some of the nicest and best people I’ve met on this site.

I hope that this may ease maybe a little bit of the hurt we’re all feeling.

Snapshots

When Eva was fifteen, she thought she had everything figured out. If someone had asked her then where she saw herself in ten years, she’d probably said married to Jonas with two kids, a pair; one boy and one girl; the girl with a long mane of cascading black hair and the boy with a head of tight strawberry blond curls and the eyebrows to match. Or it could be the other way around, or neither, it didn’t really matter to her. But she genuinely saw her happily ever after with Jonas and if she pretended hard enough she’d be able to ignore the agonizing stab of guilt that came along with it.

When Eva was sixteen, she just wanted to make it through the school year without too much trouble and she wanted Jonas to love her the way she loved him and she kept hoping that he wouldn’t keep putting her in the corner with the rest of the things he constantly took for granted. At least that’s what Eva felt on the inside, on the outside she was living her happily ever after with Jonas. Right?

When Eva was seventeen, she just wanted to party and she wanted to fuck, all the time and everyone. She partied with Chris most of the time and fucked him even more frequently than that. Chris was easy; he didn’t expect anything more, just like she wasn’t willing to give anything more. He always came prepared with his Cheshire cat grin and his devil-may-care attitude and he was hot as shit and fucked just as well. He was what Eva needed in the moment. But just that moment. Right?

When Eva was eighteen, everything suddenly turned out too complicated. Chris wanted something more, more than she was willing to give, and Eva fell back into old habits, doing the same thing she always did when things got too hard: she ran. This time the path led her to Jonas’s door and his bed. But this was what she really wanted, right? Getting back on the right path, the path that included Jonas and their two kids and the white picket fence on their lawn and the big blue house that sat at the edge of the cobblestone path. Chris said he loved her and that he was ready to settle down with her even though she wasn’t, and as it turned out, Chris wasn’t ready either.

They came together but they left separately, but that was okay.

When Eva was nineteen she realized that Jonas would never really change; not for her, not for anyone. She’d fallen back into bad habits and lost the voice she’d finally acquired after so long. Once again her opinions always came in second; her needs were always put last and her feelings were always made to be a joke. One day, Eva just picked up her strewn clothes from off the floor and left, and she never looked back.

When Eva was twenty she put herself first for the first time in her life. She finally put men to the side and hooked up only on the weekends when she’d meet up with the girls for a night out. She went back to school and studied to be a teacher; perhaps one day she would be able to help a kid avoid making the same mistakes she had in her youth. She still partied hard on the weekends with her crew. They’d laughed when she used that term for the first time, but Eva thought it was appropriate. The little voice in the back of her head laughed at the irony of everything, but for some reason the laughter sounded too familiar, but it didn’t belong to her.

Every night though, she’d go home alone, but that was okay.

When Eva was twenty one, she met Chris by chance at the club during the weekend she was out. He was DJ-ing at the club that night and meeting him had been purely by chance, or maybe it had been fate instead. She went back home with him that night and he left early in the morning after fixing her breakfast. He had another gig that night in a club in a different city. They promised to keep in touch.

They didn’t, but that was okay.

When Eva was twenty-two, Vilde announced that she and Magnus had gotten engaged. Everyone thought it was too soon, but no one said anything, not even Sana. Magnus made Vilde happy and it was obvious and that was the only thing that mattered. She asked them to be her bridesmaids at her wedding and all of them were too happy to oblige. That night they went out and got shit faced drunk. Eva had sex with the bartender in the backroom of the club, but she left alone.

When Eva was twenty-three, Vilde and Magnus married. She, Sana and Noora were the bridesmaids and Chris was the maid of honour. Vilde looked absolutely stunning in her white dress and Magnus looked smart and sharp in his tailored suit. Eva didn’t think she’d ever seen Vilde that genuinely happy in her life. Perhaps it was only in part because of the wedding, the other part was probably because her mom was there, present and sober and walked her proudly down the aisle.

When Eva was twenty-four, she finished her studies and moved out of her mom’s house into her own apartment. She found employment in the elementary school just down the street from her new place and it was perfect. Everything was perfect. The day she graduated, her mom and her friends all managed to make it to the ceremony to watch her receive her degree. It was the proudest moment of her life. She went out partying that night with her girls at the club and the DJ playing the music winked at her from across the room. She was too drunk on alcohol and giddiness to really pay attention to the person until she was locking lips with him in the dark corner of the club while the music was blaring in the background.

Chris went home with her that night and they stayed in the whole weekend fucking.

I love you and I need your in depth thoughts on DJ Otabek

Joy dies on a Thursday.

Yuri yelps as he stares at the Youtube app. Bile inches up his throat. He slides his cell phone across the dining room table to Otabek, silenced mid-sentence and staring at Yuri in concern.

“Tell me it wasn’t you,” Yuri implores over the sound of his heart breaking. Words are poison in his mouth, coating his teeth. His fingers are clenched against his palms, shaking.

“I thought we’d have more time before you found out,” the traitor intones, swiping a finger across the screen. He refuses to meet Yuri’s eyes. The truth is unhidden among the apologetic syllables. “Yuri, I-”

“How did this happen?”

“A friend dared me. It was before you knew of me,” Traitor replies. He does not say ‘before we met’. Yuri is not deaf to that silent rebuke.

“Was it all a lie?” Yuri bites out. The lights seem dim. Is this what happens when the world supernovas?

“Really Yura?” Otabek asks, a corner of his lips quirking up into a smile.

“YOU REMIXED A JJ SONG AND EXPECTED A DIFFERENT REACTION!”

  • I can’t believe my popular (aka I put it in like everything I write) ideas of musical Otabek are true. Someone get the smelling salts.
  • Musical friends Otabek and Leo confirmed! (I knew it for so long. FOR SO LONG!)
    • Picture them venturing into record stores after practice when they skated together in California
    • Sharing music from their cultures and borrowing genres and songs
  • Pining JJ who wants Otabek to acknowledge him musically and on the ice
  • Half of his fans came for the music and then stayed for the skating
    • “Hey the hot DJ is on television!”
    • “Oh that outfit is tragic but look at his shoulders!”
  • THIS DRAMATIC ASS KNOWS HOW TO TRANSITION BETWEEN SONGS. HE KNOWS WHAT TO KEEP, HE KNOWS WHAT TO CUT, HE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH WHAT HE CAN DO BEFORE THE MUSIC ENDS.
  • Considering the importance of balance in skating, he’s also great at keeping music level, so the output of songs in a row are never too jarring.
  • Refused to do any public DJ-ing until his asshole ‘mischievous’ friends could no longer find ways to make fun of him
    • If he sucked in public, that’s it, it’s over, those are the stories they would tell at his funeral
  • Imagine Yuri visiting Kazakstan and goes out partying with the Otabek friend group
    • Yuri has no idea what’s coming and is in a permanent state of shook via strobe lights and Otabek’s tight t-shirts
    • Returning to Russia: “I HIT THE JACKPOT”
  • Yuri is 110% convinced Otabek Altin is his reward for all the bullshit he has to put up with. He’s so cool
    • Cue awkward friendship/courtship over offers to help figure out music for the next season
