Let’s get started!

  1. In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of flour until a thick paste forms. Add salt, oil, and remaining flour. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Work dough into a ball and then set aside.
Pizza Sauce
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Cut the head off of a large garlic bulb, exposing the cloves and drizzle with olive oil. Wrap in foil and heat in the oven for 45 minutes to an hour. Remove garlic from package and cool slightly.
  3. In a small saucepan, mix the sauce, paste and water with a whisk until smooth. Add roasted garlic, fresh herbs, salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes or until thickened slightly.

Time to decorate!

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Cut a red bell pepper into thin strips (these will be the bow).
  3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Place onto a pizza pan and then cut a large circle out of the middle of dough.
  4. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the dough. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top of the sauce and then place pepperoni on top of cheese. Arrange the bell pepper strips into a bow at the top of pizza.
  5. Bake for 12 to 18 minutes
  6. Allow to cool slightly and then arrange basil leaves around the wreath.
