distribute books

Sometimes I think of the pioneers of the Trek fandom, painstakingly putting together zines, copying their fanfiction over and over and over again on unforgiving typewriters and spreading their love for this show and these characters through secret clubs, through the mail, distributing their books and artwork by hand to people they knew they could trust.

Whenever I think things are hard as a content creator now, I remember them and just thank every star in the sky that they were willing to put in the hard work so that the passion they felt for this show would carry on. Without them, we wouldn’t have a fandom. We wouldn’t have spaces like this where we can share our fanworks with thousands of people. Instantly. Where we can openly and proudly talk about the things we love with those same thousands of people. Without leaving our couches.

So, thanks Trek parents, for all your hard work. <3

Salam, some time ago I started extracting hadiths that belong to the Collection of Imam al-Bukhari out of a website to use it for a smartphone app I was planning. I also thought why not use that to also generate some pdf’s out of it. So thats what I have done here. There is one pdf containing all the books from Sahih al-Bukhari and there is also one pdf for each book of the collection. It only includes the hadith in the english translation, also there is the reference for each hadith (Hadith number of total collection & hadith number in that specific book). When you donwload the pdf you will be able to search through the document to find the hadiths that contain the word or exact phrase you are looking for. In sha Allah someone will benefit out of this. Anyway if you have any remarks or have found something that needs to be corrected, let me know.

(btw. maybe you should click on the download links when you are on wifi as the complete edition is like 13mb and the individual books are like 2mb each)

SNK Character Song Series 07: Erwin Smith (Image song & monologue translations)

Thanks for your patience!

Here is the second half of my translation, this time featuring Erwin’s image song & monologue!

(You can read Levi’s song & monologue translations here.)

Similar to the Levi post, I included the original Japanese and romaji versions of the song, and I also made a transcript of Erwin’s monologue in the original Japanese. You can read that one here.

Again, spoiler warning for details of Erwin’s entire character song CD, as well as one more plug for the official release :)

English Translation

I do not offer false hopes
By dangling dreams in front
It is nothing but bleak, but that is the way things are

Sometimes the best policy is
To sacrifice precious lives
Defending until the end the path forward
It is the theory of the battlefield

Into the midst of this endless crisis
I will continue to guide the soldiers
Even if I have to abandon everything
I will hold onto the hope of mankind

I have stared myself sick gazing upon
Humanity’s inferiority
Nevertheless we have not yet perished

For the weak ones who have not paid with sacrifice
What sort of chances of winning are there?
The opponents we must face
Have been a menace for 100 years

Into the midst of this endless crisis
I will dive over and over again
To search for fragments of the truth
That is simply the hope of mankind

Into the midst of this endless crisis
I will continue to lead the soldiers
I will cling to my unwavering faith
Until my days come to an end

It is cruel how the victims have fallen
If I were to atone for these volunteers
One life is not enough, but
Perhaps it would after I have fallen into hell
There is a limit to the decisions I make now but
I believe we can build a tomorrow

There’s no end to the things I’ve thrown away
Even though the things I’ve gotten in return were few
The ability to challenge is not down to zero
There is still a possibility

Monologue English Translation

My father was a teacher. The course of my life was set in the classroom one day where my father was giving a history lesson.

Having doubts about the story of how humanity had been driven into these walls, I asked my father a naive question.

At the time, my father stayed silent, but after we returned home, he answered my question.

There were a great number of inconsistencies in the history book distributed by the monarchy.

Moreover, he had a theory that they were hiding an astounding truth.

I spread my father’s theory around to the neighborhood children.

There was no ill intention, it was an innocent act.

However, on the day in which those details were investigated by Military Police, my father died in an accident in a faraway town he had left for.

Of course, it was only ostensibly an accident. My father was killed at the hands of someone who disapproved of his theory.

Inside the walls, there are a portion of humans who indulge in a privileged life– their desires, as well as a foolish son tempted by innocent questions killed my father.

And then my father’s theory became my truth. Proving my father’s theory became my life’s mission.

Humans become titans, and titans become the walls.

In this world full of harsh paths, answering the question I put forth on that day is the meaning of my life, the reason why I was born.

It is for that reason that I came to lead the Survey Corps, giving commands to numerous subordinates: “Give up your life.”

Almost all humans who join the Survey Corps will die.

On their first expedition outside the walls, the probability that new recruits will become food for the titans is roughly 50 percent.

1 in 2 people will lose their life.

Just in the last 4 years, the Survey Corps lost the majority of its soldiers, and with the fall of Wall Maria, all of the results we had gained crumbled in an instant.

There is no guarantee that Survey Corps soldiers who dedicate their hearts for the sake of humanity will live tomorrow. The current condition is bleak.

However much we try to discuss our hopes and dreams, all of them will be easily crushed.

No matter how much we champion some great cause or become a sacrifice for someone else’s sake, the pay off is almost nothing.

And yet I have been ordering many soldiers to die.

I have been using gamble-like military strategies in order to fight against this cruel world.

A comrade who formerly aspired to join the Survey Corps with me fell in love with a girl from the bar we frequented, and he chose to protect her.

I too thought I could perhaps walk along that same kind of path.

But I chose the path of fighting titans over a girl I loved.

Even a person who chose a peaceful life and could spend their life happily will eventually die.

Hope? Or despair? When this small world is about to change, I am the only one who will choose my own path.

I am the only one who will choose the path I believe in.

Who is the enemy of this world?

The key that will save humanity from this despair is none other than humanity’s determination.

This firm determination is, above all, mankind’s hope.

Therefore, I have no choice but to go see the answers I want to know.

Even though I have lost my arm as well as many of my subordinates while carrying the wings of freedom on my back¹, I must continue to advance beyond the walls by fighting against this cruel world.

If we can manage to reach the basement of Eren Yeager’s home, surely we will be able to seize the key to freeing ourselves from control by titans which has lasted for 100 years.

The answer to the question I brought forth on that day is at a place right before my eyes, a place I can reach my hand toward and grab.

Everything is for the sake of my dream– my very own dream. For that purpose I have guided many soldiers, and have ordered them to die.

Mike.

Nanaba.

Gelgar.

Ness.

Eld.

Gunther.

Oluo.

Petra.

As well as every other soldier who has tragically fallen.

My one life is not enough, but eventually I will make up for it. After I have fallen into hell, certainly I will have the privilege to atone.

Certainly, without fail. But now is not the time.

No matter what it takes, I have to be present to witness the moment that the truth about this world becomes clear.

Even if I have to abandon everything.

My conviction is unwavering.

Translation note:

¹ Here the phrase 自由の翼を背負い/jiyū no tsubasa wo seoi (“carrying the wings of freedom on my back”) has a connotation of it being a heavy burden to bear. It looks similar to another phrase in Japanese, 十字架を背負う/jyūjika wo seō, which means “to have a cross to bear” or more figuratively, “to carry a heavy burden”.

Here’s the full view on the printed autograph of Owari no Seraph, distributed at Leipzig’s book convention 2017.

The illustration was specifically drawn for Kazé Germany’s fifth anniversary, Owari no Seraph being one of the highlights/bestsellers of their career. (Other highlights/bestsellers are Blue Exorcist, Magi, Tokyo Ghoul, and Wolf Girl & Black Prince, which also got an autograph print for this specific event.) Everyone who bought a manga of the series at Kazé’s booth, no matter which volume, would get one of these prints! It might be noteworthy that Owari no Seraph was completely sold out at their booth by the end of the weekend, the convention being held from March the 23rd until the 26th.

To German fans, who couldn’t go to LBM: a tinier version of this illustration will be included in a later volume, so fear not if you didn’t get it!

Marta Minujín constructs Parthenon in Germany from 100,000 forbidden books
Argentinian artist Marta Minujín has constructed a replica of the Parthenon from ancient Greece on a Nazi book-burning site in Kassel, Germany using thousands prohibited titles.

But this is not the first time that Minujín has created the Parthenon of Books. The artist also constructed a replica in Buenos Aires, choosing books banned during Argentinian military dictatorship from 1976 to 1983.

It opened just one week after the restoration of democracy on 19 December 1983, and the following week it was tipped over by two cranes to allow the public to take the books they wanted.

A similar distribution of the books is planned for the end of Documenta 14, although details are not yet confirmed.

A similar distribution of the books is planned for the end of Documenta 14, although details are not yet confirmed.

For me this is the best part of the exhibit.  The books weren’t damaged to make it and will be distributed afterwards for people to read.

theunderstatedform asked:

how would you go about writing the dialogue if the characters don’t/can’t speak english natively? I want the book to not be limited to its native audience and so it is written in english, but I think native speakers will get bogged down by the translation? oh my god, i’m screwed am i?

So, here’s how this works…

1) Your story takes place in a non-English speaking country, with non-English speaking characters, but the book is being written and initially published in English.

No problem. There are many many books written in English that take place in other countries, and where the characters are supposed to be speaking another language. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, for example, was written in English and originally published in English because the author is Australian. However, the book actually takes place in World War II Germany. Even though the characters are speaking English, because the book was written in English, they are meant to be speaking German. This is just a common sense understanding that most readers have when they are reading a book set in another place. If you know that a book takes place in Germany, and the characters of the story are German, most people are smart enough to understand they are probably speaking German, even if the book is written in English. For most people, this is just common sense.

To help give the impression of German being spoken by the characters, the author includes occasional German words and phrases when appropriate. For example, one of the characters uses the word “saumensch,” meaning “female pig” in German, as an insult to other characters. The inclusion of this German word and others reminds the reader that the characters are actually speaking German.

2) Your story takes place in an English speaking country, but includes characters who do not speak English.

Also not a problem. In this case, you have numerous options depending on how much dialogue the characters have. Have a look at my posts  Translating Foreign Language for the Reader and The Trouble with Foreign Dialogue for more help.

3) When books written and originally published in English are sold in non-English-speaking countries…

Let’s say you’re from Japan and your story takes place in Japan with Japanese characters. However, because you’re primarily interested in the English-speaking market, you want to write the book in English and seek initial publication in an English-speaking country. As illustrated in #1, this is not a problem. However, let’s say that you also want the book to be published in Japan and other countries eventually. This is also not a problem. Your publisher will more or less handle the distribution of your book to international publishers. The international publishers will then handle the translation of your book into the language of their own country. Even in Japan. This is not anything you personally need to worry about.

I hope this explains everything for you. :)

High vs. Low Magic

I’m not entirely sure the folk magicians with ‘access to the grimoires’ were ‘very few’ in number.*

“Although these texts found their way into the hands of some cunning-folk, it is surely one of the greatest ironies in the history of magic that, apart from the Fourth Book, the most influential vehicle for the dissemination of high magic to a wider audience was, in fact, Reginald Scot’s Discoverie of Witchcraft. As has already been seen, for Scot, cunning-folk and priests alike were ‘couseners, liers, and witchmongers.’ In order to expose their fraudulent activities and show ‘what notorious blasphemie’ necromancers and conjurors committed, Scot elucidated in great detail a wide range of charms, talismans, and rituals. These included an inventory of the names, shapes and powers of the principle devils and spirits used in conjurations, which he compiled from Johann Weyer’s critique of magic De praestigiis daemonum (On the Wiles of Devils). Weyer, a physician to the duke of Cleves, almost certainly obtained his information, in turn, from a manuscript of the clavicule of Solomon. Scot further provided directions on how to call up spirits, and illustrated these with diagrams of magic circles and the characters and seals of angels.”
- Owen Davies, Popular Magic. (P. 124 - 125.)

So, to make this clear: the most popular books that Cunning-folk bought included directions taken from grimoires, and rituals sometimes not seen elsewhere (like the Fairy Sibyllia), and practical instructions on their use. Reginald Scot’s Discoverie of Witchcraft was by far the best selling, followed by Agrippa’s Three Books and especially the pseudonymous Fourth Book, with includes details on how to deduct what type of a spirit you are interacting which based on the symbols and elements seen ‘in vision’ when the spirit arrives.

Scot’s Discoverie of Witchcraft further includes Weyer’s text on the spirits in the Clavicle of Solomon, and the Lemegeton (amongst other grimoires). Lower class, quasi-literate practitioners were using these texts and using them regularly. We can even see this in the Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet, which includes sections of the Heptameron, Scot’s Discoverie, and several Sloane manuscrips and Folger manuscript inclusions, not to mention copious citations from Agrippa’s work. (These sorts of materials could only be obtained if Gauntlet was visiting another magician and sharing notes, which appears to be a much more normalized behavior than discussions on ‘high’ and ‘low’ magic might have you believe.

Another issue we need to discuss with ‘high’ and ‘low magic’ is whether the time period predates the arrival of the printing press or not. Once the printing press becomes common place, not only does black market distribution of ‘banned books’ (like those on magic) start becoming common place, but literacy starts spiking as well.

Once that occurs, our notions of what is folk magic or what a folk magician or elite magician might know get thrown out the window, because they could very well be reading Agrippa on the sly.

I think it’s about time I share some of my page spreads from the project as well.

I would have to thank the wonderful Celine Kim for asking me to work on this amazing project together with her. Many of you have seen her work already, but if you haven’t do check out her tumblr for her amazing work!

The challenge of this project was for us to take the already iconic Sunwukong ‘Monkey King’ and recreate him into a character outside of just a trickster. We presented Sun in his first moments of happiness which develop into a fiery rage as he is constantly wronged over and over again. Much of this reflects a stage in our lives when much unfairness occurs and yet in the end we may be born anew once again with a different view of the world.

Publication or distribution of this book is still in debate between Celine and I. We will make the decision once we finish school in April 2016 so stay tuned!

Story

“Thank You Misha” Appreciation Book

With the thought of the @supernaturalartbook and @thedestielartbook I decided to do something I’ve been toying with the idea of for a long time.

will be a fan-made book consisting of user-submitted stories of how Misha Collins has touched the lives of the submitters and made a lasting impression on them.

This is an art project which I will keep going for as long as possible to collect as MANY inspirational stories from people about Misha Collins and how he has changed their lives and made the world a better place for them

Misha Collins is truly an angel who has done so much for all of us and it’s about time that we give a little back. At this point in time, this will be a one off printed book on my dime - I plan on inserting all the stories in a 200-300 full color book (with some submitted Misha Collins artwork). The book will be a hardcover coffee table style book with a glossy dust jacket, gold leaf trim & embossed leather cover under the dust jacket. It will include a fairly long introduction chapter or two written by yours truly. The user submitted stories will immediately follow the introduction chapter. I will try to include up to two stories per page and am looking for 400-600 user submitted stories preferably of 400-1000 words each (but more or less is fine). The reason for the word limitation is that I need to be able to more or less fit two stories on some of the pages due to my page limit. Initially, I will only be printing one copy of the book out of my pocket to hand deliver to Misha during VegasCon 2018 or PhxCon 2018 depending on how long the creation of this takes. Afterwards, I will be setting up an indiegogo campaign to sell copies of the book for people interested in owning a copy of their own. There will be two options available (as of now) the version with the original stats (leather bound, dustjacket, gold trim etc), and a plain hardcover version.

This is just something I want to do for Misha with help from all of you beautiful people and any money made off of sales will go to RandomActs because it’s an organization I am VERY passionate about. Now that we got that out of the way, if you’re interested in contributing your story, please submit it through the submit page and be sure to adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Please check your spelling and grammar - I will go over it myself but it would be helpful if it already arrives checked and ready.
  • Please do not use any profanity or offensive language unless absolutely necessary. This is for Misha and the Collins family and I hope we can keep it clean and beautiful for him and his family to enjoy.
  • Please try to keep your story under over 300 but under 1000 words - THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT but more of a loose guideline so I can fit everything together well.
  • If you would like to submit artwork of Misha Collins to the book - I simply ask for your permission to print it in the book I give to him- I also ask that it be high quality and at least 300 dpi so it prints correctly & crisply on a large coffee table book. Watermark on the image is welcome as well as your name and a link back - will include that in the book for any artists that contribute their work.
  • I plan on including a name & location below each story submitted so please include your name & city/state with any submission. If you would like to include a link to your social media, I will happily include one link or email address as well with each submission. If no info is submitted, your submission will appear as -Anonymous
  • Additionally, I plan on having a credits section on the back of the book - if you submit a story or artwork, the name & location (and link) will be included in the credits section of the book.
  • Lastly, I will happily include a full page for anyone that runs a charity organization or any kind of group that was founded with Misha Collins in mind for charity work, support groups etc. The page will be a full page about the charity in question with description, information, contact & photos if you want to include them. I want to do this to prove to him that he doesn’t just HELP thousands, he inspires them to do good too. Please contact me through the ask box for more information regarding this.

The book printing will be done in 4 stages/

STAGE 1: Story Collection - Story collection will consist of collecting all the user submitted stories and artwork that will be included in the book The closeout date for when user submitted content will close is currently December 21st, 2017. Dates are subject to change.

STAGE 2: Format & Editing - This is the phase where I will format the book and edit all the content to make sure it fits well together and looks good. Additionally, I will be spellchecking all of the content and arranging all the user submitted artwork & charity pages to make sure everything looks clean and streamlined. Date TBD

STAGE 3: 1st Copy Printing - This is when I will be printing the first INDIVIDUAL copy of the book to deliver to Misha. This will be a very heavy coffee table book bound in leather, with a glossy dust jacket and gold leaf trim on the pages. The book will be in full color. I currently have an estimate for about $110 for one copy of the book - the price is pretty steep because I will be buying it on its own and not in bulk. I will be paying this out of pocket. Date TBD

STAGE 4: Mass Distribution - I will set up an indiegogo campaign to mass distribute the book exactly like Misha’s copy, and a cheaper more affordable standard edition - maybe even a paperback edition. This all depends on the feedback I get from people who submit and ask questions. More info to come. This isn’t even a set thing, it just depends on feedback I get since a few people have inquired if they’d be able to buy a copy. All proceeds after printing would go to Random Acts. Date TBD

If you have any suggestions or ideas, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

All submissions will be posted to this blog publicly unless requested otherwise-this will be for keeping track of submissions. Submissions may or may not be printed in the order they were submitted in, I haven’t decided that yet but will do a poll during stage 2 of this project.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing all of your stories of how this man has helped you.

WE LOVE YOU MISHA!

Ps if everyone could signal boost and reblog to get exposure out that would be extremely helpful! I need as many submissions as possible!

Date TBD

STAGE 4: Mass Distribution - I will set up an indiegogo campaign to mass distribute the book in a “Luxury” edition which is exactly like Misha’s copy, and a cheaper more affordable standard edition - maybe even a paperback edition. This all depends on the feedback I get from people who submit and ask questions. More info to come.

The History of Waterhen/Skownan

(I am posting this as a backstory to my previous post http://canadadoesnotexist.tumblr.com/post/164049731222/to-my-indigenous-followers-and-those-who-are.)

Please help me get the story of the displaced Waterhen Anishinaabeg out there. Don’t let a corrupt policing system and a corrupt Chief get their way and paint the displaced families in a criminal light. Help us get justice.

In December, 1992, some residents of the Waterhen reserve demanded more financial accountability from their leaders, who had cloaked their dealings in a blanket of secrecy. The following year, the dissidents elected a majority of councillors to the band’s government who promised to address these issues.

The Chief, who was re-elected, refused to work with the new quorum. It took a year and a half, but the council majority finally got what it wanted. On March 23, 1994, the Regional Director of federal Department of Indian and Northern Development Canada (DIAND) convened a meeting of the Chief and council, where a band council resolution calling for an independent audit of the Waterhen band passed. The department then appointed a third-party manager for the band.

That should have ended the issue. But DIAND refused to provide the quorum with details of the band’s funding agreements and the Chief’s supporters then broke into and occupied the band office. The RCMP were called to assist, but did nothing. They stated: “As to who has the authority of the band has to be determined by DIAND.”

In April, 1994, at its own expense, the council quorum obtained a court order against the Chief and his supporters and removed the band’s records. A month later, the group obtained another order appointing them the legitimate representatives of the band. Served with these documents, DIAND’s lawyer repeated that the department took no position in the band’s internal matters, the same response it had made for years to the many letters and petitions from band members demanding accountability.

This official neutrality had devastating consequences.

On or about May 17, 1994, frustrated by official disregard for court orders, the quorum attempted to enter the band office and was forced away by the Chief’s supporters, who set up barricades. The councillors returned to court and obtained an order to have the barricades removed. They came down, but the third-party manager cut off all payments for the dissidents, including their honorariums. He refused to work with or even meet with the quorum unless the Chief was present and refused to assist them in preparing the mandated audit.

Finally, in November, 1995, DIAND Minister approved a new band election. The quorum and their supporters were told “that it is going to be payback time” and were harassed and threatened at the polls. The Chief and his supporters were voted back into power. By February, 1996, all control of funding had been returned to the Chief.

But the genie was out of the bottle. During their brief period of control, the quorum had distributed the band’s books among their supporters, whom they tersely dubbed “the people.” In February, 1996, the Chief obtained a court injunction ordering the council quorum and unnamed “supporters” to return the books. The Chief said he could not do band business without them.

Frustrated by his opponents’ refusal to staunch the flow of information, the Chief adopted new tactics. Early in April, 1996, with the assistance of the RCMP, the Chief removed his supporters from the reserve, leaving the rest of the band members to fend for themselves. At band expense, the Chief’s group stayed in paid lodging in and around Dauphin, Manitoba. The crisis reached a point of no return on April 24 when the Chief obtained an interlocutory court injunction order against the dissidents, and against unnamed members of a notorious aboriginal gang, the Manitoba Warriors, whose role in the affair remains murky to this day.

The RCMP barricaded entrances to the Waterhen First Nation, which is mostly surrounded by water. Police in airboats patrolled the reserve, at times setting off explosives and firing teargas. The RCMP and the members of the force’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) entered the reserve at night, and were observed flat on the ground crawling about. Helicopters roamed overhead with bright spotlights illuminating the reserve sky. Street lights were smashed and dogs on the reserve poisoned. The reserve was under siege.

Over the weeks before the Chief’s faction fled and the barricades went up, violence against the dissidents had been growing, with the Chief’s supporters brandishing guns and threatening to declare war. Verbal and physical assaults occurred and tires were slashed. The displaced families insist that they did not respond in kind. Even after the barricades went up, they limited their protests to picketing with posters calling for justice and protesting band corruption.

But what appeared to be a well-organized series of events made quorum supporters look like criminals. The acts ranged from petty vandalism to serious acts like arson. Two houses, including the one assigned to the Chief, burned to the ground. The dissidents warned each other not to go near the burning homes, for fear they could be blamed.

Who did it? Today the displaced families and their friends wonder if these acts were not in fact the work of the Manitoba Warriors. They had observed known members of the gang entering and exiting the barricades with impunity at all hours of the day and night, apparently with the knowledge and consent of the authorities. Waterhen Chief held court for the media outside the barricades and attributed the criminal acts to his opponents.

Subsequent events are forever seared in the memories of the dissidents. In the early morning hours of May 19, the RCMP and the ERT, armed with machine guns, stun grenades and vicious attack dogs, stormed the reserve and terrorized the residents. They invoked the Chief’s interlocutory order and removed everyone, including women, children, elders and youth, from the reserve at gunpoint.

Heavily armed men kicked open doors of sleeping residents and ordered women, children and adults to drop to the floor with automatic weapons pointed at their heads. The attack dogs were allowed to bite many of them. Witnesses say the police had no pity, even though the people showed no resistance. They were handcuffed, with some loaded into waiting police vehicles and others into buses. The children were apprehended by a native child care agency chaired by none other than the Waterhen Chief. Their parents were taken to jail.

Two days later, the RCMP allowed the Chief and his supporters to return to Waterhen. Then destruction ensued. Two more houses were torched, this time ones belonging to quorum supporters, and many others looted and ransacked. Vehicles belonging to dissidents were pushed into water-filled ditches. In spite of a continuous, 24-hour police presence on the Waterhen that lasted for 30 days after the Chief’s faction was restored, the RCMP made no arrests.

Of the people dragged from the Waterhen reserve, thirty-five people were charged and many convicted of mischief, intimidation and various related charges. They couldn’t afford lawyers and lacked any knowledge of court processes, but appealed the convictions, some all the way up to the Supreme Court of Canada. None of the convictions stuck. Most of them, however, were never allowed to return to the reserve.

The Waterhen’s people are forever divided, a tragedy that could easily have been avoided had Waterhen’s Chief been accountable and opened the band’s books to reserve members, or had DIAND exercised its authority to clean up the band’s finances when the majority quorum on its council repeatedly requested help.

But just imagine if you backed the wrong political faction in your neighbourhood and then had your home and possessions and your livelihood seized. In Canada, this should not be allowed to happen.

Hello Mod! I have Volume I of TPoH and I love it soso much. I would love to throw money at you for a second volume. Is that something that will ever happen? I know you're busy doing art! But I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Have a great day!

I really hope so, but I am still trying to find someone who can distribute the books! the manual effort of parcelling and carrying them to the post office is getting too much for my hands to cope with and a second volume would make a huge surge in work on that end- if all else fails I’ll self publish again like with Volume 1 but I am really hoping to find some pro help for the task

Congressman Steve King, representing the 4th district of Iowa, does NOT let up in support of legislation that requires the Attorney General to turn over documents about former F.B.I. director James Comey’s involvement in several controversial cases. The legislation passed 16-13.
King voted in favor of it.
King mentions the whole crooked cadre of money-sucking misfits from Soros, to Hilary Clinton, to Lynch and Obama administration.

Congressman Steve King calls for an investigation of Hillary Clinton, Obama and his administration, Loretta Lynch, George Soros, Abedin & Weiner, James Comey, people within the DNC.
Obama and his admin have been traced to interfering with foreign elections like the Balkans and Macedonia along with George Soros, among other things

Ridiculous [Maya Hart]

Characters:  Maya x Reader, Riley

Warnings: Fluff! That’s it.

A/N: It’s short

“All I’m saying is that it’s rubbish,” Maya Hart said as she let out a deep sigh. She picked up the book on her desk. “Romeo and Juliet is about love at first sight, but I don’t see how that works.”

“What do you mean?” her best friend asked her. Riley Matthews sat in the desk right beside the blonde. She was hugging her copy of the book distributed by the teacher. “It’s a beautiful thing.”

“Love at first sight is ridiculous. It’s just falling in love with a person’s looks,” Maya said and shook her head.

“But sometimes the mind can make great inferences,” Riley said and smiled widely. She looked at the book and started flipping through it. “I mean, Romeo and Juliet were so sure about one another.”

“She was, like, four years older than her,” the blonde argued. She looked at Riley. “I don’t think that you can just look at a person and know that they’re the one for you.”

“It’s sweet,” Riley said.

“It’s weird,” Maya argued. She sat back in her seat and waited for class to start.

The door opened and the principal came in. Following after the authority figure was a girl around their age. She was holding a copy of the Shakespeare play while her backpack slung from one shoulder. Her eyes canvassed the room.

Maya watched her, biting her lip. She didn’t even know she was doing it, she didn’t even know she was staring. But she couldn’t help it. She was infatuated with her perfect hair and a cute nose. She could help but to take notice of her style as well, as it expressed who she was as a person and she wasn’t afraid to show it.

“What’s wrong, Maya?” Riley asked in a knowing and teasing tone. She smiled at her best friend and leaned over, nudging her. “Is it love?”

Maya whipped her head around to look at her best friend. “Stop it. I don’t even know her name,” she told her in a stern voice. Riley giggled.

“Hmm,” the brunette hummed. She tapped her chin with her finger as if thinking. “Sounds like something familiar. I wonder what.”

“Riley, stop it,” the blonde said.

“Class,” the principal addressed, then gestured to the new girl. “I’d like you all to meet (Y/N) (Y/L/N). She just moved here from (Hometown/state). I hope you all treat her as you would all like to be treated, with respect.”

(Y/N) smiled at the class and waved. She was in a new place and it was intimidating. She wasn’t letting it get to her head, though, as this was the opportune moment to make some new friends. She was more happy than she was fearful.

Maya smiled as she heard the new girl’s name. She leaned forward, resting her head in her palm.

“What was that about how ridiculous love at first sight is?” Riley whispered.

“Shut up,” Maya said and laughed under her breath.

So today I got an email that said my book is a FINALIST FOR THE NEXT GENERATION INDIE BOOK AWARDS and I get a medal and a certificate and they’re putting my book in their catalog to distribute at Book Expo America which is the largest book publishing convention in the country and also I’m invited to the awards ceremony in NYC and this is fine this is all fine I’m in no way still bouncing off the walls nine hours later it’s cool

(btw this is mainly about coping w/ mental health as a student during exam period and also there’s quite a few swears in this post so if your not comfortable with that then please don’t read on, i’m really sorry thats just the way i talk)

So i’m going to start of this post with a couple statements and couple facts. One, having mental health issues is shit, anxiety screws me up and depression is a bag of balls if i’m honest. Two, this is by know means a cure all. This post is just a compilation of tips and tricks that i find helpful, or others find helpful, which could potentially improve things for you. Three, please remember that you are the most important thing in the world for yourself. You should always put your happiness first. There are three categories that i’m going to cover in this post (there might be a part two in the future), which are how to deal with taking exams, taking care of yourself first and coping with failure. Just a disclaimer, i am by know means an expert. The only experience i have is of course my own and the way i deal (deal is stretching it tbh) with my mental health issues are defiantly going to be different to yours. Even so i really hope this post helps you guys and that you can take something away from it.

Taking care of yourself

Like i said above, dealing with mental health issues is shit. And having to deal with myself at the same time is even worse. Especially during exam period i throw my sleep and health into the fucking trash. Like dude. I’m so bad to myself and the twisted thing is i think that i haven’t done enough work and so i deserve all the crap i feel and yeah basically when you start thinking about yourself in this way TAKE A STEP BACK AND BREATHE.

  • PUT REMINDERS EVERYWHERE. Use sticky notes that say things like ‘take a drink of water,’ ‘your doing okay you fuck nugget,’ ‘take a bite to eat,’ ‘cool down for a minute’ etc and stick them everywhere. If your revising from a text book distribute them throughout the chapter your studying, stick them places you know your going to look, put them in your exercise books, your planner, homework diaries, art journals, bullet journals. E V E R Y W H E R E. Make them annoying make them convincing because your so totally worth the effort.
  • Drink lots and lots and lots (water not alcohol). Please please please do this. It will prevent day time fatigue and keep you healthy. Which is super important okay because your worth it.
  • Sleep. LET ME TELL YOU THIS FROM EXPERIENCE. REVISING THROUGH THE NIGHT = BAD IDEA. NOT SLEEPING AT ALL = BAD IDEA. CHOOSING SCHOOL WORK OVER SLEEP = BAD FUCKING IDEA (if you need help getting better sleep heres my tip post about it)

Taking exams

I’m not sure about you guys but taking exams have always been one of the worst experiences for me so here are some tricks that i use that i hope can help you in some way.

  • Discover how you take exams best. Don’t stress over a question that you can’t get straight away. Circle it and go back to it at the end of the paper and make sure you leave time to check so that at the end of the test you can be reassured you did the best you could of done given whatever situation you were in.
  • Bring water with you. Drinking often always calms me down.
  • DON’T GIVE UP! Whatever your brain is telling you, tell it to fuck itself. You can do this.
  • Concentrate on your own work. Don’t compare the speed your working at to someone else’s, but make sure you do keep track of time. \
  • If you start having a panic attack. Ask to be excused and tell the teacher why. You will be allowed to take a breather 98% of the time. Your health is the most important and exams can always wait.

Coping with failure

To be honest i don’t have much advice on this topic as i’m personally shit at it but i hope you can take something away from it.

  • This is by no means the end. If you didn’t get the result you wanted so what. There will be more exams to ace and more awards to win in the near future. Let failure empower you to work harder not make you lose faith in you abilities.
  • If the stress is keeping you up at night distract yourself. Listen to music, do breathing exercises, write a story in your head. Think about how damn incredible you are regardless.
  • Your percentage does not equate to your worth. Or your happiness. Or your potential.
  • Persevere. Be determined and stop at nothing to achieve what you want. Assess your mistakes and make sure you don’t make them again. It only gets better from here.

And finally, it may seem like the end of the world now. You may of just had a panic attack, you may be dealing with suicidal thoughts, you may be suffering through a depressive low, but please don’t believe this phase in your life will stop you from achieving great things. Everything eventually comes to an end. Your emotions are valid and I hope that the road to recovery is somewhere along that shitty horizon people keep raving about. Talk to me about whatever and feel free to ask any questions. Good luck.
