Wow, you really love Patrick Ness, huh? :D I've never read his stuff or even heard of him, but the quotes are intriguing.

More Than This by Patrick Ness was one of my favourite reads from 2013! I really enjoyed the writing style and I found the book really interesting and unique. I rarely get to buy and read a book right after it’s been released - I have a bad habit of buying new releases but then deciding to read an older book. I’ve really enjoyed looking back over my copy recently. I actually hadn’t realised that I’d marked out so many quotes, this book really struck a cord with me.

I also read The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness last year, which is the first book in a trilogy called Chaos Walking. I picked it up as part of #readchaos here on Tumblr, it was wonderfully organised by prettybooks and distantheartbeats. There’s a great post here about it if you’re interested in reading up about it. I plan on reading the rest of the series in the first half of this year. Another well-known book by Ness is A Monster Calls, which I read in December.

I adore this book so damn much, but this bit did make me *headdesk*

Yes, yes! Bernardo Soares is my [slightly more emo] spirit animal. But the “anthology section,” and this gem! I was giggling so hard. Especially this one: “The best time for doing this is in the days immediately preceding menstruation.” Hihihi.

Flashback: with all the heat at the moment here in Bahrain (41C/106F today), I keep thinking of cooler climates. One of my favourite memories is a couple of days before New Years this year, when I visited a great friend of mine in Buffalo and we went to see the Falls. Seeing the Niagara Falls had been a dream of mine since I was a child, so it was a day filled with joy and contentment. It was also quite cold, with the air freezing our noses and snowflakes landing on our cheeks and eyelashes. If I could chose a moment to go back to right now, that’s where I’d be.

Thank you re: my poem. And I'm really enjoying reading yours! It's hard work, isn't it? It's been tough but it's also been astoundingly helpful in clearing my mind and making me feel like myself.

It is hard work! I’m really struggling to think of just one more to write today. Might be a 11:55pm post. Sneak it in under the wire.
That being said, I am enjoying the feeling I fall into when writing. Not so much a ‘trying to write’ state of mind, but a ‘so that’s where I put it’ realization.
