distance view

I let the blinds open a bit, so I can see the ocean in the distance but it only reminded me of how far away you are; I let the blinds open a bit, so the sun can shine it’s rays into my room but it only reminded me of how bright you make my day; I let the blinds open a bit…because I like how everything makes me think of you and wish you were here to see this view too

There’s something about sitting alone in the dark that reminds you how big the world really is, and how far apart we all are. The stars look like they’re so close, you could reach out and touch them. But you can’t. Sometimes things look a lot closer than they are.

Day 5 | Distance

The view from where Katara stands against the balcony of the Earth Kingdom’s palace is beautiful.  It reminds her of their travels, of riding on Appa above trees and ocean, days they didn’t know were numbered in a myriad of ways.

She doesn’t think much of Aang in those times, but of Zuko, of his sincerity, his awkwardness, his temper –– a force to be reckoned with, even when they were on the same side.  She didn’t mind; she can also be a hurricane.

The door creaks open; she doesn’t turn around.  It is most likely Aang, coming back from conferences and meetings.

“Hey,” Aang says.

“Hey,” she greets.  “How’d everything go?”

He sighs and drops onto the bed.  She glances at him, and for a moment sees everything enveloped in fire, not a burning red but a soft hue of orange and pink, and maybe it just a stupid moment of her imagination but she longs for it.

Your game looks so beautiful! I noticed in the picture of Dirk and Lilith that the neighborhood trees show up so vibrantly and full in the outer lot view. How did you get it to look like that? My outer lot views always look so sparse (and I feel like I put thousands of trees around haha). Thanks! :)

Aw, thank you! I am actually using a cheat to make them visible from the lot! (and editing for pretty colors) In your Documents / Sims 2 / Config there is a file called userStartup.cheat, open the file with the text editor and just add

boolprop displayNeighborhoodFlora true
boolprop dontMergeNHFlora false

And I have view distance in the game options set to extra large!

In this unedited and full of scribbles picture you can see how I have placed trees in Pleasantview. I wanted this hood to be full of greeness since my Strangetown has like four cacti.

Red = Small hedgerows around the lots

Blue = Large hedgerow where space is sparse

Green = Small clumps of trees next to the hedgerows and along the streets

Orange = Large clumps of trees where space is available

Black = The big clumps of pinetrees around the hood

Yellow = The line of sight in the aforementioned picture

Edit: I almost forgot, but this will be needed to place trees so close to lots!

I’d recommend you to google about the userStartup.cheat it is pretty nifty and there are a lot of cheats you can put in there, you’ll find a lot of different simmers who have shared their configs! Most of them have a lot more cheats and aliases than I do. Try it out and find what suits you! Here is the rest of my file -

boolProp allow45degreeAngleOfRotation true
boolProp controlPets on
boolProp petActionCancel true
floatProp tvVolume 0.1
intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims 20
uintProp maxTotalSims 50
uintProp maxTotalHumans 35
uintProp maxTotalPets 15

boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false

alias q “setQuarterTilePlacement on”

The alias means that I only have to type q in the cheat box to activate that cheat, and then use ctrl+f to toggle it. I had to do this since it didn’t want to work in the startup so I always had to type it in myself - NO MORE!

Hello all..popping in to say I am working flat-out on various projects,,for example, the Winter Festival World project with the wonderfully talented @satureja13

I finally saw Guardians of The Galaxy* and now can even more appreciate the inspo for the Collector’s Place @satureja13 made for this world.

*yes, I live in a bubble. Time.. current events..awareness.. all work differently there.

I’ve mentioned before that part of why landscaping this world is taking so long is that I get caught up having my tester sims visit each of satureja’s buildings and then I get lost in admiration for hours.

top pic: sideways view of her “Hotter Than Hell” nightclub..the Collector’s Place museum in the distance.

2. Closer view of how that museum looks from lot next to it.

and of course, wonderful, very playable alien world by @risastorm called AV7, that we are using as our base for adding to.

This save -file will eventually be made available for download…if I EVER get done fiddling with plants and testing. (Thanks to @nornities for help testing)

Imagine living across the road from Leafy

You sat bored at the window sill while on your knees watching the world go by. Your digital clock on your bedside table ticked by as the time turned 9pm. Some of the bedroom lights turned off as you watched one by one the curtains close and the households come to a halt. However one caught your eye. Your eyes darted from one window to the next as the wind traveled through the gap in the window, gently blowing at your hair. You saw a boyish silhouette behind the blinds of the window.

You could barely see however you saw the figure in a baggy t-shirt and SnapBack. You continued to watch as the figure reached up to close the curtains however first they went to close the open window. You saw messy brown hair under the SnapBack as they went to reach for the window. They looked down on the street as you were a moment ago and all of a sudden they caught your gaze.

It wasn’t the perfect viewing distance however it wasn’t too far to not be able to see each other. Nothing was said, simply just looking at each other before he waved and then turned around and disappeared. For some reason you felt hurt by that. Suddenly a pout appeared on your lips as you crossed your arms and looked down to the ground however the figure appeared again soon enough with a smile imprinted on his lips.

He lifted up a pad of paper with the words in a thick pen saying :

‘Hey cutie, I’m Calvin, you are?’

You felt a redness on your cheeks as you instantly smiled at the words and the young boy behind them. You quickly ran to your desk to grab a wad of paper and a thick permanent marker to reply. You wrote up a response as you saw him staring in your direction with his arm propped up with a smile on his lips.

'I’m (Y/N) I didn’t know someone as handsome as you lived on this street’

You saw him smile back once he had read the message as he hid his face a little bit while giggling. Your heart melted at the sight as he started to write up another response. You had no clue such an adorable and heart warming boy lived across from you as you both ended up finding each other on Facebook and messaging each other late into the night.
