‘Don’t you just hate it when you’re trying to capture something wonderful and your friend’s hair gets in the way?'A while ago I was at Disneyland and got inspired by the phenomena known as Disneybounding. So I created several vignettes of girls Disneybounding waiting in line but with a nod to each character’s personality as it might relate to the park. My first set took me through Belle, and then I created the corresponding 'bad girls’ set and now I resume my “Standby Me” series with Jasmine and Pocahontas.
Here’s another Beauty and the Beast concept painting I did! This knocks out two designs in one piece: Belle’s gold dress and the Beast in his human form. In the words of Glen Keane through Belle in a cut line, ‘Do you think you could grow a beard?’ I’m one of the people who wishes that the Beast remained in his non-human form, so I tried to keep some of his more “animal” features in this design (mainly those furrowed brows). Belle’s gown is perfect in the original film and if it isn’t Baroque, don’t fix it, so I tried to remain faithful to the original design. I imagined it being made of a more diaphanous fabric than the fabric in the animation, though. The overall style of this one is based on Gainsborough who to my understanding was one of the inspirations for the original film.
Moana opened in the US this last week and I’m so happy with it. It’s a gorgeous movie and I highly recommend going to see it, if you haven’t already. In the mean time, you can now give your mayor a makeover to match the newest princess. If you’d like a skin recolor on it, just let me know. If you tan your mayor it should match.
Showed my Rule 63 work to a friend, but because she is not familiar with some of the movies, it was hard for her to see what changes I had done (expect for adding/removing boobs :P) so I put together this post. Then she was all like “How do you remove facial hair?!” XD
