dismissed feelings

i can’t believe 1) some you all legit think that isak asking sana for help was him dismissing sana’s feelings over his studies when anyone with a brain could tell it was just a way of approaching her because he did notice her distress, and 2) some of you all legit think that sana glaring at isak and making a snarky comment was her being homophobic when anyone with a brain could tell she was having an awful day and was just projecting her negativity.

I’m a total sucker for fics where Harry is dark and gets sorted into Slytherin, but I’m also really disappointed with how Ron and Hermione are treated in them

So: dark au where the trio is sorted into Slytherin

Hermione, who wants to use knowledge to change the world

Ron, who wants to finally be free of his family’s shadow

Harry, who wants to be great, to be admired, to be free

The teachers adore quick, clever Granger, but Severus worries when he sees the way she eyes the restricted section, how her mind is filled with deadly recipes and the ways to use them

The purebloods learn not to badmouth the halfbloods, not to bully the muggleborns, because Hermione knows forbidden magic, Hermione knows the untraceable poisons and the painful curses-and Hermione knows how to avoid being caught

No one outside of Slytherin pays attention to Ronald Weasley, so quiet compared to his brothers, and that’s a mistake

Ron casts his first dark spell and the power takes his breath away, Ron sinks into the comfort of blood rituals and makes outlawed sacrifices to forgotten gods

Ron wonders how his family could abandon this happiness in favor of a flickering light

Harry, the chosen one, the special one, the abandoned one

Harry looks at the light, looks at the people that did nothing for him, and dives into the dark

Lockhart dies drinking poison, Snape finds the trio huddled around Peter’s body, the aurors that find Umbridge’s remains vomit, and the Wizarding World doesn’t notice

Voldemort rises and does not face an old man and a group of do gooders

Voldemort rises and faces a witch with a brilliant mind and no taste for mercy, a wizard that delights in bloodshed and manipulates people like he moves chess pieces, and the broken, bloody boy that’s won their loyalty

Voldemort falls

Your actions made it clear that I wasn’t a priority in your life. You shouldn’t be so surprised you are no longer a priority in mine.

I Don’t Mean It Pt 5

Previous Parts: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4

After dinner and with what Taehyung said, you were heartbroken. You believed his words, although you knew he would sometimes say things he didn’t mean when he was upset. But you knew inside that this time was different. He wasn’t going to ask for forgiveness this time around.

Did he even consider you his friend this entire time? Did any of them consider you a friend? Or were they really only nice because you had information about them. You loved each of them dearly, always wanting the best of them. Ever since they moved in next door, your life had changed for the better. You had always had a special place in your heart for Taehyung too. The way he made you feel when you were with him was indescribable.

But it seems that all of it was a lie.

“If he wants me out of his life, then that’s what I’ll give him” you say silently to yourself.

The award show season came and went by in a flash. And for some reason, Tae was itching to text you to tell you all about it. About how happy he was for winning awards. About how he wished you were there to celebrate with them.

But he dismissed any of those feelings and replaced them with his anger. He saw the other boys call and tell you the good news, but he kept his distance, not wanting to ruin their fun.

A few weeks prior, the group’s manager came up to Taehyung regarding an article that a reporter was going to publish. Within the article was a detailed description of all the places Taehyung frequented in secret as to avoid the eyes of the public. In this article was a detailed description of all the small things that not many people knew about.

Tae was of surprised. Where had this reporter gotten all this information? His manager had said that he had gotten this information from you when he found out that you both were neighbors. He said that you had received a sum of money for the information. Thankfully his manager had “stopped the article from being published” but he scolded Taehyung for being close with just some girl.

And with that, Taehyung was fuming. He swore never to tell you anything ever again and to have you out of his life. But a voice inside him told him otherwise and he couldn’t push you out completely. He still couldn’t. And he still didn’t tell the other guys yet because he knew it would have only distracted them.

A/N: I think I’m going to end part 5 here for now. I wanted to make this longer, but I’m going to hold myself back and keep it for part 6. What do you think is going to happen? Who wants a part 6? Let me know!! I also want to thank you all for the support once again. And thank you for understanding for when I didn’t post last night!

listen as someone on the autistic spectrum, I can’t express how happy I am with Billy Cranston as a character.

A lot of the representation of autism/Aspergers I’ve seen in the media has been people who are typically cold/casually insult people/being pushed away or looked down on/overall just pretty negative.

But Billy Cranston..he is a beautiful soul. The biggest stereotype of people on the autistic spectrum is that we “don’t have feelings” or are “really apathetic”. Yeah a lot of us have difficulty understanding other people but that’s because our brains just function differently like a lot of us really do try to understand others because we want people to understand us! And when we see characters that have autistic traits (a lot of the time we don’t get characters that are canonically autistic so we have to look for our representation through characters with traits) being rude and deliberately dismissive of other people’s feelings (a certain detective and a scientist from two highly overrated shows come to mind😒) it’s really harmful to us and supports those stereotypes.

Billy Cranston is not dismissive and rude. He is full of love for his friends. He tries to understand the people around him, probably because a lot of people in a small town don’t try to understand him.

Yes his “quirks” are played for laughs a lot but it’s in no way offensive and is genuinely funny (I mean to me anyway, there were a lot of things he does in the film that I’m guilty of, like not understanding social queues and keep talking and not realising I’m repeating things).

And finally Power Rangers does something with Billy Cranston and his autism that a lot of movies/TV shows don’t do with their autistic characters (if there are any) and that is unapologetically celebrate him. To me, Billy was the heart and soul of the movie.

So can we please have more autistic characters that aren’t rude white man-children who’s disabilities are played for laughs, thanks.

1D Rebranding and Eventual Reunion: GP vs. Fandom Perception

So I’m seeing a lot of tension an unrest over the way that the members of 1D, Harry in particular, are distancing themselves from the band as they embark upon their solo careers (ie, Harry, or whatever intern runs Harry’s sm scrubbing his twitter clean of 1D mentions). I know people are anxious about this, and I understand that anxiety, but I want to offer a different perspective: I think this could be a good thing, not just for their solo ventures, but for 1D as a whole. Hear me out on this one, long windily and under the cut.

LET ME CRY ABOUT MY FEELINGS ON THIS MOMENT.

Obi-Wan gets a lot of shit about the “Dreams pass in time.” comment but this is not the face of someone who doesn’t care or who is dismissing what Anakin is feeling, as we see over and over that Obi-Wan very much does love Anakin, of course he cares about what Anakin’s going through and wants him to feel better.  And we have the foreknowledge of what’s going to come of Anakin’s dreams and the tragedy that happens because of them.

But Obi-Wan doesn’t know any of that.

He just knows that Anakin is lingering on something that is upsetting him and wants to help Anakin get past it, wants to help Anakin regain emotional balance.  I have been in that exact place so many times–when someone I care about is hurting, my immediate instinct is to fix it, fix whatever’s wrong so that they feel better and are happy again!  I love them and so I want them to not linger on this thing that’s hurting them.

If they’re worrying over nothing, this is good advice, and for all that the characters know, this is nothing, because they’re Jedi, they do have dreams that might seem important, but will pass in time.  It’s a tragedy that this isn’t one of those times, it’s a tragedy that Anakin had these dreams and then had to live through what happens later, but this moment wasn’t for lack of care, it was precisely because Obi-Wan does care for Anakin that he’s trying to help soothe what’s bothering Anakin.

Wild Space covers this as well:

Obi-Wan reacts to Anakin’s pain with sorrow and regret, but he won’t let go of Anakin, because he loves him too much for that.  And:

“I would have saved her for you if I could.”

JUST LEAVE ME HERE WITH MY FEELINGS ON THE TRAGEDY THAT IS HOW MUCH THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER BUT DON’T ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO CONVEY IT PROPERLY.

Just.  Leave me here with my feelings on how guilty Obi-Wan would have felt, how much he would have wished he could have changed things, how of course he would have saved Anakin’s mother for him if he could have, that Anakin belongs with the Jedi, in Obi-Wan’s eyes, but that doesn’t mean he would just let someone die like that, would just let Anakin suffer through that, wouldn’t understand exactly what it’s like to lose a parent and wish that you could change it, even if you still have to get up and keep going and move forward again.  OF COURSE HE UNDERSTANDS AND WOULD HAVE SAVED HER FOR ANAKIN.

So you think I can hear..?

“You’re not really d/Deaf/HOH, you hear me just fine.”

If I had a dime for everyone who’s ever told me that…                                       Here’s what’s more than likely happening during what you perceive as me “hearing”:

1. I’m relying solely on social cues. Luckily for us d/Deaf/HOH, 93% of communicaton is non-verbal. Basically if you laugh, I laugh, and no one ever knows I missed the joke (..again).

2. I’ve known the speaker for a long time. We all have those topics we can (and do) talk about for hours on end. And the longer I’ve known you, the better I’ll be able to use your favorite topics to figure out what you’re saying.

3. ‘Neutral’ answers. “Yeah”, “No”, “I don’t know”, “Yeah, I get that”.. I’ve got a whole list of responses that can easily trick you into believing I have some idea of what you’re saying.

4. Mad Libs. Did you ever play mad libs as a kid? You know the one.. every so many words you insert a random one and you get a story that doesn’t make any sense? Yeah, being d/Deaf/HOH is pretty much just like that.

5. Silence. You probably didn’t notice, you almost never do, but I haven’t said a word in 20 minutes. I gave up on trying to understand this conversation a long time ago and I’m really just planning what I’m gonna eat later.

6. Again with the social cues. Remember that whole non-verbal communication thing? Yeah, I probably use it even more than you do. Head nodding, and smiling works like a charm to get a girl through your incoherent story telling.

7. Just this once.. On this rare occasion I actually heard what you said; that happens sometimes.. But you’re still a jerk for dismissing my struggles, feelings, and identity.

Mercury Signs

MERCURY IN ARIES:

Mercury in Aries is quick thinking. They don’t have a lot of patience for studying every angle to every problem… they would rather make a decision and let you know. Candid and direct, they get to the point. While they may appear crude or aggressive at times, it is usually because they are trying to overcome opposition to their ideas. Like a child, it doesn’t occur to them that someone may disagree with them, and so they may act out of frustration. Mercury in Aries is very attached to their ideas.

They tend to streamline their learning so they don’t get too bogged down in details. They take what they want and dismiss anything they feel may be irrelevant. Mercury in Aries has a certain innocent charm. They love to begin new things, and they are very enthusiastic. Any negative criticism will be taken personally, even if it was not meant that way. They are not afraid to stand up to a challenge. While idealistic, they are very intelligent.

Aries Mercury may quickly jump from old ideas to new if they seem more exciting. They are excellent promoters. They know how to motivate people and make things sound fun. They enjoy competing with others, and may argue a point just for fun.

They are mentally agile and can think well on their feet. Obstacles in their path are terribly frustrating for them. This may bleed over to other areas in their life as well as communication. Aries Mercury is known for their impatience.

Concentration may be difficult for long periods of time. It is easy for them to jump to conclusions, and they tend to be impulsive. Witty and inventive, they are great conversationalists as long as they don’t need to delve deeply into a subject. As charming as they may be, they can also be brutally honest.

They will do anything to win an argument, even with those they love. Aries Mercury can become a terrible know-it-all if this is not controlled. On the other hand, they can let their confidence inspire others with excitement. They tend to be original, and stand out in their areas of expertise. They are challenged to learn to love details and stick through projects no matter how tedious.

Opinionated almost to a fault, Mercury in Aries is quick to share theirs even when it isn’t wanted. They are not blessed with a lot of tact. They are restless, and seem full of nervous energy. They need to be kept busy, and often don’t seem to have any to spare. They like to do things their own way; they don’t like to be told what to do. Aries Mercury can be a great leader, and even when not in such a position, they may have a handful of followers. Their excitement and enthusiasm is infectious.

MERCURY IN TAURUS:

Mercury in Taurus takes their time when making a decision. They do eventually get there, and will be stubborn once their mind is made up. While some may think that Taurus Mercury is lazy, upon closer inspection, you’ll find that they really do think things over very carefully.

While it may take some doing to get a Mercury in Taurus to start something new, once they begin they see it through to the end. They are full of common sense. They process information through the use of their senses. When they communicate, they may be a bit slow to get to the point. They are very deliberate in everything they do.

People tend to listen to Taurus Mercury. They are taken seriously. They are funny and a bit sarcastic. They do not use flowery speech; instead they come across as authoritative and realistic.

Mercury in Taurus likes to learn through demonstrations, basic concepts and concrete answers. They like practical applications for what they learn. They can learn in the abstract, but the lessons are much more powerful if they can use the information personally.

They are very sensual, and have well-defined tastes. Everything they can experience through the senses: color, scent, touch… all affect their communication style. They are shrewd in business and excel at finances.

Mercury in Taurus can come across as obstinate and opinionated. They have an incredible memory. Whatever they set their efforts to needs to produce tangible results. They truly believe that slow and steady wins the race. Unlike most Mercury signs, they are not restless… they are grounded and steady. This keeps them rooted in reality.

Taurus Mercury usually has a pleasant voice and the discipline to get through rigorous training periods as they learn their craft. They may be talented in the arts. They seek to make things that last and reflect their own deep values. They want to show something for their efforts.

Taurus Mercury may appear set in their ways, and may need to get out of their rut on occasion. They can appear pigheaded and difficult. They need to learn how to adapt. They don’t like being forced into a quick decision.

They like to build new things. It creates something substantial that they can measure and see as the result of their efforts. Mercury in Taurus can make a good living as a speaker. Their voices are melodious and their topics are thoroughly covered. Their ideas are practical and work well. Those who take their advice are seldom sorry.

MERCURY IN GEMINI:

Quick-witted and eclectic, Mercury in Gemini may appear a bit scattered. They have a broad knowledge of many subjects… but not too much about any one subject. They learn fast, but because they have so many different interests it is difficult for them to concentrate on a single subject. They also get bored easily. Give Gemini Mercury a stimulating environment and they will be happy.

Speaking of their environment, Mercury in Gemini is very sensitive to what is going on around them. They are very impressionable. They tend to be restless and full of nervous energy. While they tend to be open-minded, logical answers appeal to them. Most of the time intuition is not part of their process. They may come across as too intellectual. Spock was probably a Gemini Mercury. They may appear to be emotionally detached when communicating.

At the same time, Mercury in Gemini can also make an interesting speaker. They are not attached to their own opinions or ideas like Aries Mercury. They adapt well, and are curious about everything. It isn’t too difficult to persuade them to change their minds. They can be talented at smooth talking, and may actually be a little deceptive, with a sense of humor. They like to spot weaknesses around them and play with them a bit just because they can.

Mercury in Gemini makes decisions quickly, and they usually turn out well. They enjoy working with language and are good on the phone. It is easy for them to communicate with anyone from all walks of life with ease. Eloquent and engaging, it is hard to be bored with a Gemini Mercury around!

It is difficult for them to shut out external stimulation, however, which can wear on them. They can get overwhelmed and frazzled. They may show signs of irritability or mental confusion. Taking some down time will help them overcome this problem.

Gemini Mercury is a natural witty flirt. Their clever chatting often keeps their partners enthralled. They love to take part in cultural events and enjoy new situations. Their minds are always spinning. They blossom in a stimulating, fast paced environment.

When bored, Gemini Mercury may stir up some trouble or controversy just to make things interesting. They like to play mind games, and are delighted when they find someone who can mentally spar back. They may tend to gossip. A natural at social gatherings, they flit from group to group like a butterfly. They are usually attractive and full of good humor. Mercury in Gemini likes to travel, read, talk and meet new people. They are the original jack of all trades, master of none model. Writing helps them focus better, and many may become journalists or freelance writers.

MERCURY IN CANCER:

Mercury in Cancer is sensitive and withdrawn. They are very thoughtful of others. They are shy and may choose not to talk at all. They may respond slowly, giving the impression of being a deep thinker, which they very well may be. They like to meditate on a problem, and reflect on their experiences.

They are great listeners, and can actually make decisions faster than it appears. Cancer Mercury has a terrific memory, too… especially if it is emotional in nature. They come across as gentle, intuitive, sentimental people. They take things very personally, which can make them appear defensive. At the same time, they can also make you feel protected and warm. They can appear to be hiding something even when they are not, which can cause Cancer Mercury some trouble.

Mercury in Cancer learns best when they feel balanced emotionally. They can remember a lot of information, though they prefer to focus on a subject and approach their problems step by step. They are empathic and can pick up the feelings of others. They are good at putting themselves in the other person’s place.

Cancer Mercury does not like to argue. They will go out of their way to avoid it if possible. At the same time, they are good at starting an argument. They do this very subtly, and then feel hurt when others argue back.

They are attracted to poetry and the romance of yesteryear. Don’t be upset if they withdraw for a time when making a decision… it helps them figure out their own opinions on the matter rather than being influenced by others. The dislike distractions and need to focus on matters at hand. They make very good speakers and writers. Mercury in Cancer has a talent for feeling out the audience.

Cancer Mercury is very intuitive. It is not easy for them to be objective. They learn best through experience and are very receptive to subliminal messages. They have a deep appreciation of the past and historical artifacts. They would probably enjoy working in a museum. Mercury in Cancer is loyal and very patriotic.

They are creatures of habit, and a lack of routine is upsetting to them. Mercury in Cancer is very considerate of others, which engenders sympathy and support when they need it. They are very good at giving motherly advice. When they are upset, they tend to sulk. They cannot focus enough at this time to react with practical reasoning. They can be moody and defensive when criticized. Cancer Mercury is talented at reading between the lines, so they are not easily fooled.

They are often called upon to speak at family gatherings because they are in touch with life’s deeper meanings. Mercury in Cancer also knows how to draw someone out of their shell when they feel awkward or troubled.

MERCURY IN LEO:

Mercury in Leo speaks with style and authority. Some may come across as know-it-alls, but they really just want to share their knowledge with everyone else. They have a talent for seeing the big picture; but may miss the details. They are very persuasive, using warmth and goodwill. They know how to promote their ideas and get their message to the masses.

They hold their opinions very dear and take pride in their beliefs. They tend to be idealistic. Mercury in Leo has a good intellect, and they love to express themselves. In fact, creativity is very important to them. They excel in presenting themselves with drama and style. Passionate and enthusiastic when speaking, Mercury Leo is usually successful in getting their point across.

They may be oversensitive to anything they consider less than praise. They can appear rather arrogant due to their natural detachment. Mercury in Leo has their ego tied to their intellect, which sometimes makes it difficult for them to separate fact from fiction. They may be considered boastful.

Mercury in Leo is wonderful at story telling because their sense of drama is so well developed. Performing or public speaking are both good outlets for their creativity. They have a strong will power and stick to their purpose.

They make natural leaders and people are inclined to follow them because of their charisma. Leo Mercury can be stubborn, especially when crossed. They follow their passions, acting spontaneously in the moment.

In social situations, Leo Mercury’s warmth is contagious and they make friends easily. When they get interested in someone and their potential, they turn their attention to developing that potential. If their heart is not in a project, it shows. They are quick witted and take intuitive leaps when thinking on their feet. They may take disagreements personally since everything they do is attached to their ego. They seek recognition for their ideas, so it is difficult for them to participate in brainstorming or other group activities.

If there is a chance to be in the spotlight, Leo Mercury is your person. They are happy to soak up the glory. They are never boring, and always “onstage.” They may exaggerate at times, but they are very convincing and entertaining. They make excellent teachers, enthralling their students no matter what their age. Besides performing, they also do well in politics, coaching or other leadership roles. They do not enjoy a job where they have no voice in making decisions or any creative input.

Mercury in Leo needs to watch out for false pride, intolerance, being full of themselves and needed praise for everything they do. While their need for admiration is evident, they do deserve it a good portion of the time.

MERCURY IN VIRGO:

Mercury in Virgo can be a bit high strung when things seem out of control, but they are very good at taking care of practical things. They appreciate it when others give them credit for their intelligence. They are good at organizing, planning and taking care of business. They do best when they know exactly what is expected and are usually willing to lend a hand.

Since they are detail oriented, their friends and coworkers appreciate them. Mercury in Virgo needs a structured learning environment and organized methods of study. They can learn a lot about their chosen profession, but may have difficulties absorbing all of the knowledge on a deep level. They don’t see the point in learning something unless it has a practical use. They are resourceful. Mercury in Virgo is very protective about how they handle their every day affairs. They may get impatient with other people, have trouble telling people no, and complain that they get to do all the grunt work.

Mercury in Virgo is logical, and may be critical of others. They have good common sense. They may appear to lack confidence in themselves, which may or may not be true. It is not uncommon for Virgo Mercury to hesitate before acting… not because they are afraid or unsure, but because they are double checking everything in their mind one last time.

They may be thought of as picky, but in actuality they are concerned with accuracy and precision. They are gifted with language and math, but may be shy or withdrawn. They are analytic and exercise good judgment. Virgo Mercury is usually content to stay in the background and orchestrate things.

They are so detail oriented that they may lose sight of the big picture. Despite this, they are good to have on hand during a crisis because they stay calm. They won’t lose their head to emotional displays. They are completely self-contained. Virgo Mercury has integrity. They may lose interest in projects that don’t seem to have a purpose. Creatively, they stick to practical things. Others find they can relate well to what Virgo Mercury creates.

They have a dry sense of humor, and notice things that other people miss. They are not easily distracted from their task. Mercury in Virgo comes across as sincere and virtuous. Others trust your opinion. They enjoy puzzles and word games that keep them challenged. Reading is often a pursuit they enjoy.

Mercury in Virgo is adaptable, systematic, stable, flexible and exacting. Conversely, they can also be pessimistic, intolerant, sarcastic, critical or whiny.

MERCURY IN LIBRA:

Mercury in Libra is pleasing. They are natural diplomats, or at least make the effort. They wish everyone were equal in the intellectual circles. It is very important for them to have a mental connection to those they have relationships with. Chances are, if they feel there is no connection, it is because Mercury in Libra is trying too hard to be intellectual in their relationships instead of paying attention. They have a need for fairness, but their constant comparisons can appear to be unfair instead.

While they strive for perfection and can’t help criticizing, they try to be tactful. They are always looking for compromise, so everyone is happy. Opinions from either end of the spectrum can make them uncomfortable, but if they favor the middle ground, Libra Mercury is happy. This creates a great personality for a counselor or mediator. It may also cause them to be indecisive. They can’t help but see both sides to everything. This may cause them to lose out on opportunities sometimes because they take too long.

Mercury in Libra can be objective because they are able to think in the abstract. They are intelligent, but it is subtle. They don’t push it on anyone. They don’t like to play the bad guy, and will drive themselves mad trying to make everyone happy.

Mercury in Libra is good at networking with people, but due to a trend towards mental laziness, they may not always follow up on those connections or maintain them. They often turn to others for opinions when they need to make a decision. They may have a fondness for playing devil’s advocate. They are usually rational and well balanced. They don’t like arguments and prefer to have a quiet discussion.

Libra Mercury is friendly and broad minded, but they can stick to their principles when need be. They don’t like conflict or when people act in a crude manner. Quickly changing situations can be difficult for Mercury in Libra because they don’t adapt very fast. They prefer to study an issue and slowly come to a decision.

Mercury in Libra likes the arts and they enjoy literature. Culture is important to them. If they are not expressive in the arts themselves, they enjoy supporting others. They may not like seeing the darker side of life, and may appear to be rather shallow.

Libra Mercury is fun at parties. They are easy going, warm and charming. They may have talents as a speaker or performer of some kind. They need to learn that it is okay to disagree. Once that lesson has been understood, life becomes much easier for them. Writing comes naturally to them, and they are good at merging ideas. Overall, they work well with almost anyone.

MERCURY IN SCORPIO:

Mercury in Scorpio likes to get to the heart of things… and they are very good at it. They are talented at seeing the truth and they are fearless about going where others fear to tread. A human surveillance camera, Scorpio Mercury can see through almost subterfuge. They hate superficiality. They may come across as suspicious and negative.

Mercury in Scorpio is passionate, and this comes through when they communicate. They usually want to help others, and may even share some of the insights they have… as long as they are about other people, not themselves. Their observation skills are beyond the pale, and more often than not have seen something others have missed.

Mercury in Scorpio is all about strategy. They are smart and work by instinct. While they may think they are helping in a constructive manner, their criticism may come across as negative instead. Don’t try to win an argument with Scorpio Mercury… it is very hard to do. They have a need to win, intellectually and literally.

They are loyal to the bone, and will defend anyone they care about to their last breath. They are also good motivators. They are good at keeping secrets, especially their own. They are also good at digging out the secrets of others. They make excellent detectives, investigators or researchers. They love mystery and intrigue. Science is intriguing to them. Anything that challenges their brain will keep them occupied. Mercury in Scorpio likes to figure out what makes people tick.

They are not very tactful, and will often say what they are thinking. They can have a very sharp tongue. Stubborn and tenacious, Scorpio Mercury will hang onto a subject until they are satisfied. They have a very emotional approach that may prejudice them. This makes it difficult for them to be objective.

If they have no interest in a subject, they will do all they can to avoid it. This can be difficult in school and other times when some subjects must be addressed.

Mercury in Scorpio has a keen understanding of human nature. What may seem obvious to them may make others puzzled. This sign brings out an intensity that others can’t help but notice. It is not uncommon for people to either love Scorpio Mercury or hate them. Psychic talents may appear with this sign. They are often interested in mystical and paranormal subjects. They may be drawn to the arts, showing the darker side of human nature through their work. They can be manipulative and controlling at times, and they like to possess those around them that they care about. They feel it is a way to protect those they love. While they do not hesitate to explore the dark secrets of others, they tend to avoid it with themselves. It may be that they seek answers in others as a way to face what is deep within themselves.

MERCURY IN SAGITTARIUS:

Mercury in Sagittarius espouses freedom of thought; at least, they try. They are optimistic and look to the future. They have big ideas and mean well. Vision is their strong point. Details are not.

They have a great thirst for knowledge, but have little time for facts and dry texts. They learn best when given the freedom to think and choose for themselves. They also prefer topics they are truly interested in, and when they are having fun.

Mercury in Sagittarius defends justice and freedom, even though their personal definition of justice may be a bit confusing. They have several principles they promote, and are always happy to discuss them. Their optimism shines through no matter what. It is both their strength and their weak point. They are good at invigorating people with their sunny outlook, but they can be a little blind to the facts.

Sagittarius Mercury is also not too well organized. Piling or trashing is their preferred method to deal with clutter. They like the illusion of space if they can’t get the real thing.

Their enthusiasm is admirable, and they love a good debate. Sagittarius Mercury imagines themselves as very open minded. While this may be true to a certain degree, they can also be very judgmental. They can quickly pick out prejudices in others, but are rather blind to their own. They are good at bending your ear, but not so good at listening or picking up subtle signals.

Mercury in Sagittarius is blunt and to the point. When someone is hemming and hawing, they get impatient. They don’t understand it. They despise mind games. They do love to laugh and have fun. They are independent and adaptable. They love being social and will talk with anyone who will listen. It may be difficult for them to focus on any single subject for very long. They prefer theories to concrete evidence.

Mercury in Sagittarius enjoys philosophy, religion, foreign cultures and psychology. They may study any of these their entire lives, trying to grasp a deep understanding. They are restless, intellectual and crave intellectual stimulation. They make good teachers; they like sports and they love to travel.

The downside of Mercury in Sagittarius may be laced with sarcasm, bragging and rudeness. On the other hand, they really want to see the big picture, and will do what they can to get all the pieces. They describe things broadly, leaving out the small details. They have an artistic side that puts vitality in the everyday. They are also good politicians, activists and adventurers.

MERCURY IN CAPRICORN:

Mercury in Capricorn tries to understand the world by putting everything into its own little compartment. They may be slow and methodical, and they appreciate structure and organization in their life. They are resourceful, but they can easily get overwhelmed if too much information comes at them at once. They need to break the information down into manageable pieces before it is useful.

They are very productive and active mentally, and prefer tasks that end with a tangible result. They can be quite authoritative, and don’t like surprises. Mercury in Capricorn does not like people who don’t keep promises. They can appear rather judgmental and strict, and they are short on patience with those who don’t understand things that seem obvious to them.

They are not frivolous, and they don’t like frivolity in others. They are practical in all aspects. They are often skeptical when confronted with something new. They may appear more conservative than they really are. They don’t like to waste time or anything else. Planning, however, is important to them. They will take as much time as needed to make sure the plan is foolproof.

Words are chosen carefully by Capricorn Mercury. They don’t want to appear foolish, so they may be a bit stiff. Those that appear very natural when making a presentation have probably worried themselves sick over how they would appear.

They are clear thinkers, and may appear rather rigid or narrow minded. They are cautious before committing to anything. They very seldom have anything to regret. While they don’t learn too quickly, they retain the knowledge for a long time. They often feel a need to prove themselves.

Capricorn Mercury may appear moody or sulky, and it may take some effort to show enthusiasm. They have a great capacity for concentration and earnestness that makes them appear very serious. They are reliable and responsible, and in bad situations may end up depressed or pessimistic.

Mercury in Capricorn is definitely someone that you can trust to live their beliefs. They often become experts in their field because they are dedicated to learn all they can about their chosen topic. They favor self control, and may have difficulty mingling with others.

Mercury in Capricorn finds history and traditions fascinating. They have a way of melding the old and new into something practical and useful. They really want to leave their mark on the world and stand the test of time. They make good administrators, engineers and excel at anything that is practical and detail oriented.

MERCURY IN AQUARIUS:

Mercury in Aquarius likes to break the rules when expressing themselves. While not really flamboyant, they do have a knack for stirring things up. They take great delight in exposing the biases of others. They are the first to contradict someone and give their own, very different perspective. They love intellectual debates. Quick and alert, they are very observant.

They are often detached and seem to have their own agenda. They can be intimidating to others because of their innate superiority complex. At the same time, Aquarius Mercury can be absolutely delightful to be around. They are interesting, quirky and insightful.

When it comes to learning, they have unusual study habits. They don’t like schedules, but can be surprisingly organized, although their system may make no sense to anyone else. They like science and metaphysics, as well as anything that deals with mankind’s progress or advancement. They have a well developed sense of humor and love practical jokes.

Mercury in Aquarius is often labeled eccentric. They love controversy and chaos, and have little respect for tradition. They are intuitive and can judge a person’s character very accurately. They are fair minded and believe in equality and fair play. They are humanitarians and love to help those who are less fortunate than themselves. They are often involved in social reform.

Mercury in Aquarius is witty and open minded at times, but they can also be very stubborn. They often make good speakers or writers. They are often very original and their ideas may be ahead of their time. Ideas often just appear to them out of thin air. They are more loyal to concepts than they are to people. They may play the devil’s advocate just to have a debate.

They can see the big picture, and will lay out the facts as needed. They prefer to explore the more outlandish and far reaching ideas. Science fiction isn’t much of a leap for Mercury in Aquarius. Resourceful, they can use their powers for good or to drive others to distraction. They are usually well disciplined when it comes to intellectual pursuits. They are versatile, practical and somewhat revolutionary.

MERCURY IN PISCES:

Gentle in their communications, Mercury in Pisces has a pleasing, soft touch. They are almost poetic. They are not detail oriented… instead they are caught up with feelings, emotions and moods around them. They can get a very clear picture from their surroundings.

Mercury in Pisces is a great listener and makes a great conversationalist. They can be moody and this can extend into their writing as well. They are unpredictable and it is difficult to determine what their mood will be at any given time. They may tell you what they think you want to hear. They do this to make you as comfortable as possible.

Indirect and dreamy, Pisces Mercury can be hard to pin down. They take in so much information that they can’t remain with a single opinion for long. They don’t like cold hard facts or making hard decisions. They prefer to follow their intuition, which gives them some pretty accurate insights. They may appear disorganized to others. They don’t like details, and they may tend to drift mentally.

Mercury in Pisces picks up every subtle sign in their environment. While often indirect in their communications, they can improve if they work at it. They are often artistically inclined, and may have talents in the theatre, music or films. They may be psychic or have other talents in the paranormal range. Spirituality, meditation and prayer are things that come naturally to Mercury in Pisces.

They are rather naïve, and they are trusting. This can result in them being taken advantage of or being misled. They can be very vulnerable. Their natural idealism doesn’t let them become pessimistic. They are often very shy, and may lack self confidence. They may get lost in fantasy. When they can express themselves creatively, they gain in confidence and are able to find themselves.

Mercury in Pisces is compassionate and visionary. They can also be lazy, oversensitive and impractical. When they get overwhelmed, it is important that they have a safe place to retreat to so they can regroup and calm down. They are very imaginative, and it may be difficult for them to translate their thoughts into concrete ideas. They believe that anything is possible, and their open mindedness makes it hard for them to make a decision at times.

kelliiee22  asked:

How can the inferior function be identified when it's introverted? I'm sure it's easier in moments of stress. Thank you.

Nice timing on this question, in light of the previous submission I just posted (yours came in first ;).

The inferior function is your weakest point, that which you’re most insecure about, and what hurts the most when other people poke at it, regardless of it being introverted or extroverted. If you’re brutally honest with yourself, you KNOW that’s a weak area for you, that you can’t compete in that area with others who have a certain function higher in their stack.

Since you asked specifically about introverted inferior functions, I’ll address them – I’ve discussed all the functions in depth other places, but extroverted inferior functions can indeed be easier to spot, since it produces strangely extroverted behaviors in otherwise introverted people (hey, remember the time ___ got up on the table and started dancing in front of the crowd?).

(These are inferior functions at their worst; but even healthy types struggle.)

For a Ne-dom, inferior Si is their total inability to retain or focus on details, even forgetting the most essential information or being incapable of pulling up specific examples to support their Ne-dom hyperbole. This means their beliefs are wildly inconsistent and self-contradictory, framed in the ideas of the moment rather than on gathered experiences or knowledge. (This is why it HURTS when people point out that you’re being inconsistent in what you said before.)

For a Se-dom, inferior Ni is failing to perceive the larger picture, or in being prone to action without thought of the long-term effects, consequences, or results of your action in the present. This means they often are forced to deal with unforeseen problems built up from short-sighted behavior. They can either refuse to consider reading between the lines, or become fixated on an irrational singular dream for their future that isn’t possible. (This is why it HURTS when people point out, “You should have thought of that before you…”)

For a Te-dom, inferior Fi is a lack of emotional intelligence in yourself and for other people; not knowing what you want, how to care for your feelings, how to deal with your emotions, or being able to consider other people’s emotional needs in your decisions. You may dismiss feeling-based decisions entirely, or neglect emotional self-care, which tends to alienate you emotionally from family and friends and lead to conflict over your lack of “understanding.” (This is why it HURTS when people assume you don’t love them or care about them at all.)

For a Fe-dom, inferior Ti is a failure to have consistent logical beliefs and to analyze situations with detached efficiency; your tendency is to use emotional intelligence (Fe) to assess people and situations and assume this wisdom makes you more logical than you are; but your logical center can reveal flaws or crack under pressure, when a thinker type bears down hard on you. (This is why it HURTS when other people point out inconsistent ideas in your thinking or challenge you as being “irrational.”)

Introverts:

For a Ni-dom, inferior Se is the desire to act within the world but an inability to do so with any kind of consistency, often leading to a passive lifestyle of contemplation ahead of actually working for the things you want. It means you’re incapable of adaptation in the moment, which often means you miss opportunities and/or epic fail when you try. (This is why it HURTS when people call you lazy or unmotivated.)

For a Si-dom, inferior Ne wants to be multi-faceted and creative with bigger possibilities but struggles to grasp larger pictures, is not good at reading between the lines, and can often visualize “worst case scenario” thinking, in everyday affairs (we’re all doomed). (Since inferior Ne fears it isn’t unique, innovative, or creative enough, this is why it HURTS when people point out your creative faults or shoot down your ideas as irrational or unlikely.)

For a Ti-dom, inferior Fe wants to express itself in appropriate ways and connect emotionally to other people, but feels increasingly out of its depth when interacting with emotionally-charged people or situations. Its tendency to be erratic and explosive leads to feelings of shame or vulnerability after a public meltdown, because of an intrinsic awareness that they should have better emotional intelligence. (This is why it HURTS when people call you unfeeling, inconsiderate, or selfish.)

For a Fi-dom, inferior Te wants to be productive and take action in the outside world but struggles to know how to implement their plans or turn a profit, and can feel overwhelmed in situations requiring bottom lines, extensive logical frameworks, or “selling” oneself or one’s product to the masses. As a result, an inferior Te often winds up angry that the world isn’t helping them succeed, while failing to take affirmative action to attain success. (This is why it HURTS when others call you undisciplined, irrational, or unlikely to succeed.)

Hope that helps.

suddenly i remembered something from season 1 about keith? it’s just a little thing. regarding his hostility towards pidge

“You can’t leave!”
“You can’t tell me what to do.”

in this episode when the castle is ambushed and pidge intends to leave, the only person to really get on her ass is keith. i was reading @gay-space-lions post talking about how keith’s father more than likely abandoned him and that both of his parents are alive and it helped explain this scene better than “dead parents, sad orphan boy.”

there’s this bit where he practically snaps when hunk expresses wanting to leave at some point, but it doesn’t really help the situation.

“You’re not the only one with a family...everyone in the universe has family! You’re putting the lives over two people over everyone else in the entire galaxy!”

keith downright chews her out rather cruelly for an older boy to do to a little kid, but i think this is probably something similar to what he’d like to say to his own family. he’s calling her selfish and dismissing her feelings because, if his parents did really abandon him, having pidge leave him all of the sudden probably hurts a lot. keith doesnt want to go home, he wants people to just stay with him.

Dadman shiro puts a stop to it by reminding keith that he cant force someone to stay if they don’t want to, which shuts him up p damn fast but look at his face? this was a big blow to him, just when he started to open up, but now he sees and feels that people will just all leave him eventually.

@ dreamworks give this kid a fucking break

from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (USA, 2017)
[x] the film’s tag

(Please excuse the crappy quality of the gifs, I will remake them once we have something better to work with.)

Can we please talk about how perfect Emma’s delivery of her lines is? In particular, her “I don’t know.” and later “I love you.”?

The whole post-dance dialogue is actually pretty amazing. The Beast clearly doesn’t want to tell her how he feels, certain she will refuse him. Then he glances back to the ballroom where his servants stood just a moment ago, the very same people who got into this shit because of him and still they help him and care for him, and he finally makes himself ask her if she could ever love him. And you can see that Belle is in no way dismissive of his feelings or his question, she knows by now that she cares for him, that there’s “something there”, but she cannot say she loves him back because she genuinely doesn’t know yet if what she feels is love.

And then, when the Beast dies in her arms, it’s plain from her face that her world just fell apart and she keeps calling him back, completely heartbroken, because her heart, her home, her everything is gone. And then she says “I love you”, it is a confession of a girl who just realized how deep her feelings actually are, she even sounds a bit surprised by it. Like I said, flawless delivery. <3

anonymous asked:

Hey, I saw your tags on the ladywongs post, so I just wanted to know your opinion about the latest touka/mutsuki. honestly, I feel it unnecessarily complicated something so simple and it made me feel violated, cause I feel like I loved a character that was not touka. Do you perhaps...have an insight you wanna share?

Well, I was grateful for the shoutout that meta gave me and I’ve been a fan of a lot of metas that writer has produced, but this one in particular I very much disagreed with. I think the claim that Touka loves the idea of Kaneki while not really understanding the person ignores the fact that every time she’s made a serious observation about Kaneki she’s been bang on the money.

If she idolises Kaneki so, why has she made such a damning assessment about him? And it’s not just an assessment of the changed Shironeki that she resents, it extends to the Kuroneki she supposedly idolises as well. And what’s more, she’s completely right. This is even acknowledged by Kaneki himself.

Touka doesn’t idolise an image of Kaneki. Far from it. The chapter on the bridge is titled “Penetration” because Touka sees past the roles Kaneki plays to the scared kid inside. At this point, she probably has the best understanding of Kaneki than anyone in the series - maybe even more than Hide. For further proof, Touka knows at a FREAKING GLANCE just what Kaneki intends to do to himself when they meet up at Cochlea.

If this was just a casual “Seeya”, do you think it would be all Touka would say to him after all this time? She can tell Kaneki has no intention of making it out alive, so the first thing she does is to remind him that his death won’t affect him alone, and it very clearly shakes him up; setting him on the path to choose to live. Just like how their confrontation on the bridge convinced Kaneki to go back to Anteiku, if not quite in time.

Touka’s not being unreasonable because the Kaneki she idolised has changed. She’s mad because Kaneki’s going down a path of self-destruction, and it does destroy him. In the last quarter of the first manga the narrative breaks its back pointing out that Kaneki’s gone too far down the Shironeki path - it’s not just Touka, it’s also Yoshimura, Nishiki, even resident devil on Kaneki’s shoulder Shuu, not to mention events like Kaneki stabbing Banjou, seeing Rize crazed and helpless, and all the foreshadowing packed into ‘The Hanged Man’s McGuffin’. Touka is trying to help Kaneki because she genuinely does know what’s best for him because she genuinely understands him. I don’t think anyone would try to claim that convincing Kaneki to live at Cochlea was a bad thing either.

Now if Touka is ‘obsessed’ with Kaneki, if it can’t possibly be love because they only knew each other for two months, then it would stand to reason that Kaneki would be far, far more important to Touka than she would be for him.

Then why is it that in Kaneki’s mind, after only knowing Touka for two months and Hide for all his life, Touka is on equal footing with Hide? He includes the whole of Anteiku in the above panel, but Touka gets special mention with Hide in the next.

And here, in his dying moments, Touka gets the biggest panel, placed on the next page for the biggest effect. Touka is just as important to Kaneki as vice-versa.

But neither is ‘obsessed’ with the other.

Touka broke into Cochlea to save Hinami, not Kaneki. She didn’t even know he was there. She most definitely has a life outside Kaneki and her love for him is far from all-consuming. While he had lost his memories, she was fully willing to accept the possibility she might never talk to him again. She might love him, but if she was obsessed and didn’t have a life outside of him, there’s no way she could make a sacrifice like that even if her aim was selflessness. Yoshimura loved his daughter, and set up Anteiku anticipating her return, but he had a life outside of her too. It’s the same with Touka.

The original post tries to dismiss Touka’s feelings being a healthy form of love by comparing it to spending three years dedicating yourself to a co-worker who you knew for two months, but dumbing it down to their official relationship and a span of time removes an enormous amount of context to explain why she feels this way. In real life, you wouldn’t have fought side-by-side with your co-worker in life-threatening situations time and time again. These kind of high-pressure environments cause bonds and trust to become much much thicker much more quickly. “Summer friends will melt away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends forever”.

Sure Touka sees Arata in Kaneki. That’s not a bad thing at all. Arata was a great dude. Having an Arata in your life is a real positive thing, and there’s absolutely no reason why Touka shouldn’t chase it. People are hardwired to get with people who remind them of their parents - it’s in our genetic programming, it doesn’t diminish the love they feel for that person or make them love them less for who they are in the slightest. Trying to heal the wounds of old losses by emotionally investing yourself in new people is totally healthy - the unhealthy thing would be to shut yourself off from the world, just like Touka was doing at the start of the manga - a rut Kaneki helped her out of. It would be bad if she were just pretending that Kaneki was Arata, but she isn’t - she behaves totally differently around him and she has demonstrated many times an understanding of those personality traits Kaneki possesses that are completely different from Arata’s. It would be problematic if Kaneki got with someone who reminded him of his mother (read: Rize) because his mother was a horrible person; but Touka, even if she occasionally throws a hit at him (a product of her upbringing which is very rare nowadays - also Kaneki is nowhere near as vulnerable in this situation as he was a child, he’s the OEK for crying out loud), constantly gives Kaneki both the emotional attention and the hard truths that he needs.

This panel:

Is unambiguously a good thing. Touka’s development was never about growing into herself without the need for others, because she was already like that at the start of the manga. Touka’s development was about rediscovering the humanity she cast aside to protect herself from pain, and then balancing that with the strength she found with being a Ghoul. The first stage was greatly aided by Kaneki - whom she indeed admired, but never idolised - and the second stage she completed herself.

Mutsuki’s love is a different beast entirely than Touka’s love. Mutsuki’s focus on Touka was precisely to emphasise Mutsuki’s jealousy, because Mutsuki recognises the bond Kaneki and Touka share. Mutsuki’s feelings are not meant to parallel Touka’s, but tie in with the other complicated entanglements of this arc, showcasing different kinds of love. I do strongly believe we’ll get both Touken and Akiramon resolutions soon, and positive ones too; the negativity around love this arc has displayed to us so far is set up to make those two relationships shine brighter.

So don’t worry anon, just because a meta says Touka is different from how you think about her doesn’t mean it’s right - it’s all a matter of interpretation. No one person’s opinion is automatically more important than another (except in this case maybe Sui Ishida - and maybe not even then, if you adhere to Death Of The Author literary theory), your analysis is just as valid as anyone else’s if you can argue it with evidence.

But even so, I am very much of the opinion in this fandom that if you see any meta that tries to claim that none of the main characters have developed at all since the start of the manga, take it with approximately this much salt:

some thoughts on jyn erso

i’m sorry to do this because i know we’re all probably exhausted to death of jyn erso discourse, but i was finally able to collect my thoughts on some aspects of her character into coherent ideas that i want to post

this isn’t a jyn erso hate post, and i’m not an “anti jyn” or someone who completely despises her character. there are some things about her that i like! she’s just not my favorite, and i’ve been curious as to why that is. it’s not typical of me to feel so neutral of what is objectively a strong female lead, especially when it’s something like star wars where those are often lacking.

here’s what i think it boils down to: i don’t really like her that much, because of the filmmakers’ attempts to make her likable

if you’re trying to portray a character who is rough around the edges, jaded with the universe, and doing whatever it takes to survive, why not go all out? i would have loved to see jyn be more angry, meaner, scrappier, and belligerent. give me a jyn who when she is captured by the rebellion, acts like a caged animal. give me a jyn who will scratch and claw in order to survive. give me a jyn who is expressive of her anger and fear and desperation. give me a jyn who yells and screams and and doesn’t know how to control her rage and frustration at her situation.

i think my main problem with jyn is that, to me, she comes across as bored more than jaded. rather than someone who has been fighting her way along her whole life and been hardened, she seems like a woman who is just uninterested in her surroundings. when she says the line that’s like (paraphrasing here) “it can’t bother you if you don’t look up” in the movie it feels so dismissive to me and doesn’t pack a punch. i would have rather had that line be biting, full of bitterness and disillusionment that shows the reaction of someone who has been so hurt before by all sides that she has lost hope in any goodness in the world.

unfortunately, what i think a lot of this comes down to, and why this isn’t the jyn we see in the movie, is the cultural requirement that we need to make women palatable in order to be likable. there’s the idea that if a woman is too emotional, or angry, or yells a lot, people are going to hate her and thinks she’s a total bitch. well i would actually love a bitchier, meaner, more raw jyn erso. but we didn’t get that side of her because, let’s face it, women can’t act like that in movies, whereas men can. because a woman who spits rage and scratches and claws would be seem as threatening and unrelatable to a male audience. so what we get instead is the watered-down, sugar-coated version of what should be a gritty, harsh character. we get boredom instead of rage, because that’s what’s easier to swallow. and i feel cheated about the jyn erso that could have been, but that we didn’t get to see.
