Alexander is being charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, both felonies. According to the Westchester County DA’s office, he was apprehended after an investigator traced a July 24 download of child pornography to an IP address assigned to his home, which allowed police to obtain a search warrant.

“A forensic examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than sixteen years of age engaged in child pornography,” the DA’s office announced in a statement to ET.

DGA Second VP Jace Alexander Arrested On Child Porn Charges

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says frequent Law & Order director and former Blacklist co-EP Jason “Jace” Alexander was arrested today for “possessing and file-sharing illegal and obscene performances of sexual conduct by children less than seventeen years of age.” The journeyman helmer, who was recently elected Second Vice President of the DGA, faces up to seven years behind bars for the felony charges. He was released on $10,000 bail today and is expected back in court November 19.

The arrest of Alexander came after an investigation in which police downloaded child pornography from an IP address belonging to the director on July 24. “A forensic examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than sixteen years of age engaged in child pornography,” said DiFiore, the NY-based local DA, on Wednesday after a search was made of Alexander’s home.

The DGA told Deadline today it had no comment on the matter. However, it seems unlikely Alexander could continue in the guild gig with these charges.

Alexander directed Law & Order episodes from 1994-2005 and the pilots for Royal Pains, Burn Notice and Warehouse 13. He also helmed various episodes of FX’s Rescue Me, MTV’s I Just Want My Pants Back this year, among others projects and served as co-executive producer on NBC’s Blacklist for more than a dozen episodes from 2013-2014 and directed one episode. Alexander directed an episode of CBS’ Scorpion and the now-cancelled Backstrom this season. He co-created, EP’d and directed the DircTV comedy series Almost There.

Alexander is repped by ICM Partners, who declined comment on the arrest.

‘Law & Order’ Director Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

TV director Jason “Jace” Alexander (not to be confused with Jason Alexander of “Seinfeld” fame) was arrested Wednesday in connection with the possession and file-sharing of child pornography.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced the news on Wednesday afternoon. He has been charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child. He faces a maximum of seven years in state prison.

On July 24 an investigator from the Westchester County DA’s office downloaded child pornography from an IP address in Westchester County. After further investigation, authorities found that the IP address came from Alexander’s home.

A search warrant was subsequently executed on Alexander’s home, where a forensic examination of computers and hard drives revealed digital files of children less than 16 years of age in child pornography.

He posted $10,000 bail and is expected in court on Nov. 19.

Alexander is known for directing more than 30 episodes of “Law & Order,” along with several episodes of “Rescue Me,” “The Blacklist” and “The Practice.” He most recently directed for DirecTV’s comedy “Coop.” He is also a second VP for the Directors Guild of America.

Alexander’s rep did not immediately respond to request for comment.
