different skins

Most recent goodies from @silvannaturals

Ok - first of all, I must really, truly, from the bottom of my heart thank Azura’s Star facial cream and Sea of Eden facial toner (not shown) for this week! The start of this week was stressful for me, and I wasn’t getting lots of sleep BUT I still had very bright, soft, lovely skin because of these products (and shout-out to @sirensongelixirs ‘s eye cream that also helped)!

I have combination skin - different parts of my face are both very dry AND very oily, and weather can also affect this - and some moisturizers don’t work well for me, but Azura’s Star works beautifully without irritating my skin.

I have dry hands, arms, and feet and the Mirkwood Body Butter is very soothing for them! Has a subtle earthy-plant scent.

I also tried out Silvan’s new perfume oils!  I think I’ve mentioned before my love of Dirthamen, Andruil, and Fen’Harel scents… very different, but all wonderful! AND Ruffles!

I also got some tea light samples of the new “A Song of Thrones” line: Valar Morghulis, Ice + Fire, Bend the Knee, and Dracarys!

Good Omens: a gentle reminder

Your headcanon is your headcanon. The characters in your mind are what they are, and nobody is trying to take them away from you. Think of the Good Omens TV series as a stage play: for six full hours, actors are going to be portraying the roles of Crowley and Aziraphale, Shadwell and Madame Tracy, Newt and Anathema, Adam, Pepper, Wensleydale and Brian and the rest. Will they look like the people in your head? The ones you’ve been drawing and writing about and imagining for (in some cases) almost 30 years?

Probably not. Which is fine.

The people in your head and your drawings are still there, and still real and still true. I’ve seen drawings of hundreds of different Aziraphales over the years, all with different faces and body-shapes, different hair and skin, and would never have thought to tell anyone who drew or loved them that that wasn’t what Aziraphale looked like. (And a couple of years after we wrote it, I was amused to realise that the Aziraphale in my head looked nothing like the  Aziraphale in Terry’s head.) I’ve loved every instance of Good Omens Cosplay I’ve seen, and in no case did I ever think anyone was doing it wrong: they were all Aziraphales and Crowleys, and it was always a delight.

Good Omens has been unillustrated for 27 years, which means that each of you gets to make up your own look for the characters, your own backstories, your own ideas about how they will behave.

The TV version is being made with love and with faithfulness to the story. It’s got material and characters in it that Terry and I had discussed over the years, (some of it from what we would have done it there had been a sequel). Writing it has taken up the greater part of my last three years. You might like it – I really hope you will – but you don’t have to. You can start watching it, decide that you prefer the thing in your head, and stop watching it. (I never saw the last Lord of the Rings movie, because I liked the thing in my head too much.)

Remember we are making this with love.

And that your own personal headCrowleys and headAziraphales and headFourHorsemen and headThem and headHastur and headLigur and headSisterMary and all the rest are yours, and safe, and nobody is ever going to take them away from you.

The moment you tell yourself you “can’t”, you limit yourself.
You are the sole greatest driving force (after God) in your life.
Speak positively, always.
Love yourself.
Nourish your soul with words of affirmation.
Take care of your body with lots of water and hug people often.
Cultivate good energy and the universe will reciprocate it, tenfold.

animation/character design talk

First i’ll talk about smaller details cuz why not?

The animation crew really go above and beyond with detail, like here for example, adding in this small detail of Neil struggling to keep his balance is nice to see because it really adds just that little extra layer of ‘awkward noodle limbed kid’ that is Neil to a T.

The slow movement that builds up in contrast to the quick snap back to their initial position is so fluid and it’s satisfying to watch here. Moments like this really gives so much personality to the characters and adds emphasis to their speech in very much the same way real people speak with their movement and actions.

I know i already talked about this part before (specifically the use of stretch and squash) but i can’t help but bring it up again because It’s SO good. I love how David is animated, he’s constantly being exaggerated and it fits his character perfectly. This jump is so extra….!??

Even when characters are standing still, they all stand different from one another in a way that says something about their characters.

ex:

  • Neil’s raptor hands
  • Max’s hands in his hoodie
  • Nikki’s hands on her hips

If they were silhouettes we would still be able to tell who’s who

thoughts on the character design:

I really appreciate that everyone has different shapes in their designs, no one shares the same shapes. (except Daniel and David obviously because they’re twins) Almost all the campers even wear their Camp Campbell T-shirts differently! I also like the variety of different skin tones. In many animated series/films there’s a tendency to make everyone look too similar, I’m glad cc avoided doing that. Everyone’s design is very pleasing to look at.

btw feel free to add onto this post if you want!!
