diekneipe said: oooh i wrote a paper about this once and basically said that the versailles treaty started wwii because it was the reason hitler was allowed to rise to power and stuff.

that’s basically ajp taylor’s thesis and we read that in class!! which amuses me, because i guess wwii is far off enough for us to look at it a little more critically, but america clearly still operates in a very cold war frame of mind when it comes to communism and the ussr

i mean we still look at wwii as a moral war and our actions as morally just (the firebombing of dresden is brushed off for example as just ‘one of those things’) but at least we examine its causes more critically these days

but lol cold war is just 'COMMUNISTS PLAYED HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPO WITH EASTERN EUROPE BUT THEN WE STOPPED THEM’

youtube

This is a video of a wonderful group of people.

I didn’t know you could make more friends in the middle of college. I didn’t know that life could have so many adventures in it.

I don’t know what I’d do with out them.

diekneipe replied to your post

ooh tenor fetish i like it

I just

there’s something about clarity and vocal agility on high notes

that makes my knees go weak

maybe it’s societal conditioning

because in musical theater it’s quite common for the heroic or romantic male characters to sing tenor

so maybe that?

but I still really just

tenor vocal parts are so lovely

Rule 1: always post the rules.

Rule 2: answer the questions the person who tagged you has written and write 11 new ones.

Rule 3: tag 11 new people and link them to your post.

Rule 4: let them know you’ve tagged them

1. What are your top 5 favorite films? Oof. Okay. Clue, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Serenity, Hot Fuzz and Chicago.

2. What is one song that has been stuck in your head for the past few days, OR, what is one song that always gets stuck in your head no matter what?  It’s currently Don’t Slow Down by Matt & Kim and Two Weeks by Grizzly Bears. I’m on a Gossip Girl soundtrack kick lately!

3. Were you ever unsatisfied with your name? If so, if you could pick any name to call yourself, what would it be? Oh God I’ve always really hated my name but I was too chicken to go by anything else. I’ve always enjoyed Ainsley or Ellie or something.

4. What is your favorite item of clothing? I have this one specific LSU-themed Phi Mu tank from my Big that I wear practically every time I wake up really hung over. It’s so comfy and cute.

5. A lot of people think they were born a few decades too late/too early. What time period do you think best suits you? I have a hard time believing that I could be better off in any other time and generation but now, but sometimes I do wonder how it would’ve gone if I hit my twenties in the twenties when my family still had money. Maybe that’s just because I grew up watching Chicago every other week. :)

6. Hardcover or paperback? Ooh, I actually prefer paperback. I feel almost more in touch with what I’m reading if it’s bendable and breathable.

7. Do you normally write with a pen or with a pencil? Pen all the way. My 10th grade English teacher mentally whipped me out of the pencil habit completely.

8. What is one item you always have with you in your purse/wallet? Nowadays it’s (forcibly) my student ID, but whenever I carry around a purse it my favorite MAC lipstick, Creme in Your Coffee.

9. The zombie apocalypse has… happened. What is your weapon of choice? I’ll find a gun somewhere, but honestly I’d die pretty quickly. I’m afraid of gore and the whole killing thing and I can’t run very quickly. After reading World War Z I’m pretty sure I’d just kill myself when I saw a point of no return for society.

10. What is one childhood craft that sticks in your memory? Every other Christmas or so I’d take a huuuge pinecone and paint it gold or green and then take sequins and beads and hotglue them on to resemble a Christmas tree. We still have three after all of our billions of moves and we display them on our coffee table each year.

11. What is your favorite blend of tea, OR, what is your favorite flavor of coffee? Green Ginger Tea / Salted Caramel

MY TURN. BE AFRAID.

1. What’s the number one played song on your itunes/spotify/whatever?

2. What’s your favorite time of day?

3. If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

4. Your Autobiography title is…

5. What is your favorite quote?

6. If you could sit down and eat dinner with any musician, who would it be?

7. If you had to drink one kind and label of alcohol for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

8. Best moment of 2012?

9. You have two minutes to escape from your house before it blows up. Besides your electronics, what would you grab before escaping?

10. If you could fall in love (requited) with any celebrity, who would you choose?

11. Red Vines or Twizzlers?

diekneipe replied to your post:I did a campus visit to W&M. I’m like 84% sure I’ll be coming next year. While I was there a guy said “Watch out for twamps” and a girl said yea will fuck your boyfriend then looked at him. Is that a word for hoes there?

01: When did you first start writing?

i was cleaning my room a few years ago and i found this stapled-together copy paper book full of those kind of like round blobby people drawings like you do when you’re really young and then on the bottom in my dad’s handwriting it told the story of this guy sitting on a curb wishing for a girlfriend and then like he gets one eventually (don’t remember how…….)

so i asked my dad about it and he said that when i was 3 i dictated the story to him, which he then wrote out, and then i illustrated it myself. so i guess that’s how i became a writer.

12: Who is your favorite author?

this is a hard one S’: huge chuck palahniuk fan (though apparently not enough of one to know how to spell his name without looking it up). love neil gaiman too. and, of course, there’s a v special place in my heart for suzanne collins (the gregor the overlander books were my life at one point).

27: Which is your favorite genre to write?

i am so huge on like dystopian futuristic shit. i’ve got it bad. but i also like basically anything post-apocalyptic and period pieces (esp. when set in the 20s).

37: What’s your oldest WIP?

there was this cheerios writing contest years and years and years ago and it was like going on an adventure with your cereal and i wrote like half a story on it and it involved a chameleon somehow but i never finished it (even though my dad harassed me about it endlessly).

44: What’s the weirdest character concept you’ve ever come up with?
