I recently started reading this autobiography under the above title, now I am forever an advocate for African Literature, and most of it talks about history, from revolutions to westernisation, to urbanisation. And many South African books are based on apartheid and stories are told in context of our parents generations.
Now, this girl’s story is real and so relevant to everyday today. She talks about her Johannesburg experience coming from a small town, and the night life, the crime, the beauty one tends to meet with Gauteng Maboneng. Now I have grown up here my whole life, but the struggles of our generation regarding money, relationships, “fomo” (fear of missing out) are real, and sometimes realier than we think. Eg, we all know ‘that girl’ in the club, but here is a bit of her story, and the people around her, and it may contain a little more familiarity than you would think.
I have been on this tunblr alot, I’m a total victim to its plot, so stop by when you get the chance :)
