I found out something really important about Lavi.
Okay, so you know how everyone thinks Lavi’s name means “Lion” in English? Because it’s gotta be true if you type it into babynames or behindthename and that’s the listed meaning, right? WRONG.
Romanized, the name may have been shortened to Lavi, but the actual Hebrew for the name is לָבִיא. This is not Lavi. This is Lavie. Lavie means “Lion”. So what does Lavi mean? Oh, I’ll tell you what it means.
Lavi means heart.
And I’m thinking this is on purpose, since Hoshino does a LOT of name symbolism. Deak was the surnam/occupational name for someone who could write, a scholar, or a priest teacher. It can also mean notary or literally “one who writes history”. There a many other names Hoshino uses as a means of symbolism (Nea, Mana, Adam, Tyki, Apocryphos, and more) but I thought this one was especially important.
