He had a rough life, his mom was crazy and beat him, introverted and shy, he also saw his mom get almost runover by a Lawnmower. He worked in a Dallas airport as a janitor and had no aspirations. One summer, he grew a 7’ inches and played at a NAIA school. He was so happy to play he’d be running, jumping around, holding a number 1 high, just happy he could play and didn’t care what happened. He lived with a white family at Southeastern Oklahoma State. He was drafted by Detroit in the second round. He was quiet and doubted himself. Chuck Dailey aka Daddy Rich (god rest his soul) loved Dennis, was the dad he didn’t have, and didn’t try to change Dennis, he let him flourish. He became a starter, said if Larry bird was a black dude he’d be just another good player, he won defensive player of the year and (cried from joy), he won a champioship with the Detroit Bad Boys. One night he was sleeping in his car and was gonna kill himself with a shotgun when he made the choice to just be himself and not care. When the Bad Boys disbanded Rodman had no mentor and traveled to a fro from teams before becoming apart of the Bulls and was even more amazing. He was nicknamed the Worm because he did the dirty work. He dated Madonna in her prime and married Carmen Electra, dyed his hair how he wanted, dressed in drag for his book. He was happy being himself even if people pointed fingers and called him crazy. He wore drag in a NBA alumni game. He even was a wrestler with Hulk Hogan. He’s the Vatican of Rebounds. He is a misunderstood beautiful soul who deserves more credit than he gets. He is real.
He holds these accolades:
5× NBA champion (1989–1990, 1996–1998)
2× NBA All-Star (1990, 1992)
2× All-NBA Third Team (1992, 1995)
2× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990–1991)
7× All-Defensive First Team (1989–1993, 1995–1996)
All-Defensive Second Team (1994)
7× NBA rebounding champion (1992–1998)
No. 10 retired by the Detroit Pistons

If a 6'7 misunderstood kid from NJ can be himself and happy why can’t we. That’s why he is my idol.
