detox meal

…..juice is the truth! Simply blend and drink up! No water needed, but optional.
Watermelon is a superfood that is epic for detoxing! Which is why I love it. Detoxing allows us to purge and vibrate higher. It activates wellness and raises our frequency; mind, body and spirit. We come into contact with so many pollutants and toxins in the air and water….let alone through people, energy traps and energy vampires. Detox often, as you continue your life’s journey of vibrating higher daily.
I drink a few glasses daily and will often do a 3 day juice fast with just watermelon juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice added to it and plenty of water in between. Google the many other amazing benefits of Watermelon/juice.
Be love. Be well. -Lalah Delia | VibrateHigherDaily

Detox Day 1 Meal 2: a can of tuna, caesar, and like 4 little grams of onion.

207 calories / 2.3 net carbs

Took another long Serial walk today then hit up my greatly missed gym for an hour jogging on the treadmill, copious stretching, and 50 of my 100 push-ups.

Growing up Fat

-Being told your pretty for a big girl or you’d be prettier if you lost weight
-Being the girl that guys would use for their amusement such as daring each other to do something like talk or ask you out
-People wanting to pick you up to show how strong they are

-Getting haircuts suggested to you because they will “slim your face”
-Being told you’ll find someone who’s “into that” or some guys like big girls

-Pretty clothes that fit you well are way to expensive
-95% of the time you get flirted with it because he flirts with anything that breathes or its a dare
-Being afraid to mess up a relationship because your legitimately scared no one else would like you

Dinner Bowl - Goodness in a bowl!!

Brown rice, grated carrots, boiled frozen sweet corns, chopped fresh kale, and tofu sponge cooked in a miso, ginger, and brown sugar sauce!! Super clean, fresh, and delicious!!

PS. I am not sure if tofu sponges are available where you are, but you can replace with normal tofu and scramble them up in a miso, grated ginger, and brown sugar sauce until the moisture is evaporated.

#FATATTACK2015

Photo 1: High School. Well, I guess this is my story. I have always been one of those people that has always been overweight. Except for recently, for as long as I can remember, I’ve always been on some sort of fad diet; slim fast, pills, cleanses, detoxes, meal plans, you name it I tried it. Because of my weight I never really felt like I belonged or had very many friends. When I entered high school, I became severely depressed. My weight was always at the forefront of my mind, and I often would spend the night crying and wishing that I could just be anorexic or something like that.

Photo 2 & 3: Post College. After high school I moved to Seattle to attend college. For the first time in my life I felt like I belonged and had friends. As my confidence went up my weight went down in between my party lifestyle, and not being able to afford food I ended up losing close to 100 pounds by the time I chose to go back home because I didn’t like school. When I return home all have it’s an old feelings returned and with that so did most of the weight that I had lost over the next two years.

Photo 3 - 7: The one good thing about moving home was that I met the love of my life. We decided that we needed to leave our toxic home behind and started a new life together in Portland Oregon. After arriving here I became very sick I was in pain all the time. I saw the doctor and she insisted there was nothing more wrong with me then my weight. A good friend of mine introduced me to the anti-inflammation diet and after receiving the news from the doctor and being at my wits end to do something for my pain began this diet. Fast forward to present day, i’ve lost 105 lbs. and a doctor finally decided to listen to me about my pain, and after 2 long painful years I receive a diagnosis.

I still struggle to remain positive about my body every single day. The difference now is that I try and show my body love whether I feel like it or not through healthy dietary changes and exercise. For the first time in my life I can run a mile in under 12 minutes and I probably have more muscle mass than every before in my life.

I know a lot of you have a story pretty similar to mine. I can honestly tell you it gets better once you let go of everyone’s expectations of you and just do you.

Ally any weight loss tips so no need to diet because dieting is bad

Dieting is the WORST, it literally has the word ‘die’ in it for that reason.

My tips for finding your healthiest weight are:
Eat loads of fruit, vegetables, starches, grains and legumes (do not restrict)
Drink plenty of water (aim for 2 litres)
Sleep a minimum of 8 hours a night (the earlier the better)
Get your heart rate up 3-5 times a week
Make it fun.
Make it a lifestyle change.

Rather than trying to stick to some crazy exercise regimen or super restrictive 1600 calorie diet, just make small adjustments in your daily life, so that it’s something you can maintain for the rest of your life. Take the stairs over the elevator, shop on the outside perimeter of the supermarket (ie, fresh produce, plant based milks, ignore the packaged processed items in the middle). Staples like oats, sweet potato, rice, pasta, bananas, spinach, broccoli are all your friends. If you have a dog, take them on walks. If not, take a friend so you can chat along the way. I play team sport and have done so my whole life, which I think is incredibly helpful/important for so many developmental and social reasons, but also keeps you fit whilst having fun. It’s a pre-scheduled ‘workout’ so you won’t skip it, and you get the huge added bonus of socialising, making new friends and having a fun time.

Most importantly; ignore diet culture. It exists solely to make a profit off vulnerable people’s insecurities. It’s like an abusive boyfriend who insults you but then tells you that you need him to be better. You do not need anyone or anything who shames you for the way you are. Forget detox teas, meal replacements, weight loss shakes, cellulite cream, and essentially any other product marketed solely at women.

You are already perfect as you are. You deserve to feel loved both by yourself and others. You don’t need to change your physical shape or a number on a scale to earn that. I hope this process is an organic one for you, one that comes without too much effort and is easily sustained for the rest of your life. The slower you lose weight, the easier your body will find it and be able to maintain that stable point forever. A lot of people find that a starch based diet (eating mostly things like rice, potato, oats and other fantastically healthy carbohydrates) has allowed them to eat abundantly whilst also transforming their body into its healthiest self. You can check out people on YouTube like High Carb Hannah, This Girl Audra, Not Another Vegan and Mantras and Mangos if you’d like some tips on that lifestyle. Know that we all have different healthy set points, we don’t decide where that is; our body does. Know that your body loves you, and is always fighting to keep you alive. Appreciate it for all it does for you and allows you to do.

Most of all, this should be a slow process. I know everyone wants quick results, but the faster you lose weight the faster and easier you will put it back on, because that just puts your body under stress and cannot be maintained. Let these small, simple lifestyle changes take place over time. It may take months or years to get to your healthiest point (again, your body determines this, not you, and even then it may fluctuate) so strap in for the long haul, not an overnight quick fix. This is all about learning healthier habits so it becomes completely engrained and subconscious, to the point where you genuinely love doing these things and just end up living your best life.

I hope that helps!

So what is good nutrition? It is important, but how do I know since there are so many different ideas on wha to eat and what not to.

For me good nutrition or healthy lifestyle in general is:

  • Drink water
  • Eat your daily caloric intake
  • Respect your macronutrient ratio
  • Be sure to consume enough micronutrients (vitamins & minerals), which are presents in fruits and vegetables
  • Have snacks between your main meals
  • Eat more complex carbs than simple carbs
  • Always choose non-processed food over highly processed ones
  • Consume good fats
  • Always choose whole food over meal replacements
  • Fuck detox bullshit
  • Drink green tea
  • Sugar free food? stay away from it
  • Slow down on salt (sodium in general)
