destructive not productive

There is no such thing as a non-vegan environmentalist.
What you see above are aerial photographs of large feedlots and massive lagoons of waste. British artist Mishka Henner accidentally captured these aerial photographs that show the results of industrial beef farming. At first glance you may think it as abstract photography because of the geometric and vibrant images, or may even resemble open infected wounds, as you start to look closely however, you’ll see the details of the feedlots. The small black dots are only a small portion out of the billions of animals bred to become food. “While I was working on that series I was looking intensely at the American landscape, and that’s when I came across these really strange-looking structures, like a big lagoon, or all these dots that look like microbes,” Henner says. The massive waste lagoons waft up dangerous hydrogen sulfide fumes and contaminate groundwater with nitrates and antibiotics. Feedlots use large amounts of energy and water and saturate the air with odors that emit huge quantities of climate changing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This is extremely damaging on the environment. “To me, as somebody in the U.K., looking at something [like] the feedlots I was shocked on a very personal level,” Henner says. “I think what the feedlots represent is a certain logic about how culture and society have evolved. On one level it’s absolutely terrifying, that this is what we’ve become. They’re not just feedlots. They’re how we are.”

And how does the bourgeoisie get over these crises? On the one hand by enforced destruction of a mass of productive forces; on the other, by the conquest of new markets, and by the more thorough exploitation of the old ones. That is to say, by paving the way for more extensive and more destructive crises, and by diminishing the means whereby crises are prevented.
—  Marx and Engels - Communist Manifesto 1848

I know I have the ability to pass as male if I want, but every day I choose to wear makeup and feminine clothes instead because I don’t look good without them. I wish my style wasn’t so coded as female. I feel like the destruction of gendered products would decrease my dysphoria way more than transitioning ever would. Submitted by Anon

“It shouldn’t be the consumer’s responsibility to figure out what’s cruel and what’s kind, what’s environmentally destructive and what’s sustainable. Cruel and destructive food products should be illegal. We don’t need the option of buying children’s toys made with lead paint, or aerosols with chlorofluorocarbons, or medicines with unlabeled side effects. And we don’t need the option of buying factory-farmed animals.”
Jonathan Safran Foer, Eating Animals

Who can estimate the elevating and refining influences and moral value of flowers with all their graceful forms, bewitching shades and combinations of colors and exquisitely varied perfumes?  These silent influences are unconsciously felt even by those who do not appreciate them consciously and thus with better and still better fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables and flowers, will the earth be transformed, man’s thought refined, and turned from the base destructive forces into nobler production.  One which will lift him to high planes of action toward the happy day when the Creator of all this beautiful work is more acknowledged and loved, and where man shall offer his brother man, not bullets and bayonets, but richer grains, better fruit and fairer flowers from the bounty of this earth.

A little help with answering that hypothetical question that always seems to come up over Christmas dinner with the family…

“If you lived in a civilisation where there was an abundance of plant-based food, would you choose to kill animals and eat them for no reason other than your dietary preference?”

We might even address the very real disaster scenarios presently threatening the world with questions like these: “What if you could make a simple and compassionate change in your life that would increase available farmland, increase available clean water, reduce rainforest destruction, reduce greenhouse gas production, reduce the threat from antibiotic-resistant bacteria, decrease land and waterway pollution, prevent creation of ocean dead zones, end your participation in the deaths of sentient individuals and increase overall human health by switching to a plant-based diet? Would you do it?”

This is the reality we actually live in, and this is the choice each one of us faces.

Whatever beliefs or disbelief you may have with religion is your business. To me, it becomes scary when people are harming your family and you have this “pray for your enemies , turn the other cheek” mindset. As a Man, Woman, Mother , Father, Son, or Daughter it’s your duty to protect your family and your community, Putting that duty in someone or something else’s hands is problematic. This was Malcolm X’s BIGGEST POINT. People were MURDERED in a church. “God’s house” if that in itself is not enough proof that prayer is not enough I don’t know what else it will take.

When Black people kill white people White people don’t say “let us pray” they take action. Black people have to stop repeating and passing down these self-destructive ideals. It is counter -productive to progress as people.

28261) I started this for control. I continue this for control. So when did the ED take control? That really is the great illusion, isn’t it? That we (ED people) have some sense of control in our lives? That the whole purpose of this self destructive behavior is a product of our making? Of our design? Of our control? But if it is truly within our control, why are we so powerless to stop it? Face it… we aren’t in control. Oh, how deluded we are.

Pictures of British commandos during attacks on German positions in Vaasgo And Maaloy (Norway) during Operation Archery,

The commando force of 570 troops was divided into five with these objectives.

  1. Secure the area north of the town of Måløy in South Vågsøy and engage any enemy reinforcements;
  2. Subdue and secure Måløy town;
  3. Eliminate the enemy on Måløy Island which dominated the town;
  4. Eliminate the enemy strongpoint at Holvik west of Måløy;
  5. Provide a floating reserve offshore.

Central to the operation was the destruction of fish-oil production and stores which the Germans used in the manufacture of high explosives. Another intention was to cause the Germans to maintain and increase forces in Norway which otherwise might be employed on the Eastern Front.
